I have never tried selling here, but as strictly a buyer, I enjoy this location, particularly during the 75% off clearance events. However, today was the third time that I found some great clearance items only to get to the till and find out that they had accidentally been marked with clearance stickers, and were in fact full price. It's a giant pain to go through the mess that is the clearance section, pick out some things, try them on, wait in line to pay, and then find out that they are actually not on sale. This could easily be rectified by replacing the flimsy, removable clearance stickers with stamps or hole punches. read more

I love this place. I saw the Jimmy Choo shoes too, Laura P, and they were too small for me as well :( I was able to get a ton of clothes for work. This was my first time to any 'consignment' shop in IL. The fact that they offer to pay cash on the spot intrigued me but I was entirely let down. Almost everything I brought in was rejected because it was "too old" or not white enough. I was given $22 for a pair of Nike's I've worn maybe 2x, a paid of Uggs, and a BCBG dress on top of waiting for quite some time. There were three women working, yet the woman who was assisting me was constantly being interrupted to help with other tasks or other customers. First of I brung my 3 bags in and they told me to wait an hour and a half so I waited a bit over that time just for me to come in there and they never started in my bag but standing around looking dumb so the little white lady said give her 15 minuets cause she the one who took my bag in the first place but was trying to go on lunch before looking through my bag so she half assed looked and passed on all my item then gone say one bag she couldn't look through because it smelled like cigarettes but when I smelled it I smelled nothing, I don't even smoke nor does anyone around me so I just knew that was some bullshit . So I saw this white girl shopping around and told her to take my bags in as hers just to see if she passed on my stuff cause I'm black so the girl does it and that white lady took $30 worth of my old stuff. When I say I knew it had something to do with race I just knew cause this isn't the first time she's done that to my stuff but always excepting some white person raggedy stuff. I went to this location for the first time last week. They tons of Coach bags, but I think I could have gotten them for the same price or less from the outlet. I do have to mention I couldn't believe how messy it was. Granted, they were having a sale, but it seemed like everywhere you looked there were piles and piles of stuff. The sad thing was that most of the "stuff" was kind of nice. The racks were overflowing and there were tubs of shoes under all the racks. I wasn't sure if those were there for me to shop through or what. Even if I had wanted to, there wouldn't have been anyplace to sort them. I don't know if they ran out of room or have too much stuff or what, but I was just so stressed out I left. Hopefully they can clean the place up. Buyer beware! Most of the purses they sell as designer are phonies. No joke, when is the last time you saw a tag in a Jimmy Choo, Coach or Balenciaga that said "made in China"? While I was in there (i LOVE the jewelry selection and prices) The same lady who was the demonstrator for a purse party I attended came in with "real" purses. The manager ate it up and didn't even hesitate to authenticate, she told the person taking the merch that she is a regular seller and all her stuff is ok. Seriously, If you are attempting to sell fakes at near retail, at least make sure they are well made. Wont be long before the feds bust this place for moving counterfeit merch. There were some authentic bags, but they were out-numbered. The selection is massive in this store with many sizes and tastes available. They are starting to venture into perfumes and lotions too which is a plus for consumers Their blow out sales are NOT TO BE MISSED. My experience was less than I expected as any store in this area should be pulling a lot of foot traffic.....so when I walked through the store I found it to be organized, however must of the items were very outdated. They appeared to have style's worn in 2009 or older. In fact one of the jacket's they were selling, I purchased new in 2008 from Lane Bryant. The staff was friendly and helpful, however they are not very educated on today's styles and what to buy. Being a clothing purchaser for a large department store, I know the value of items. I gave them several of last season's sundress, suits and evening dresses as well as shoes for a total of 40 items. As I watched them go through the items, they did not even look up 1/2 of them on the computer as indicated in their advertisement. Instead the buyer pulled out 2 pairs of shoes, a purse and 6 clothing items and offered me $40.00 for them. I removed the name brand purse and took the money. In my opinion this is not the place they advertise, they carry a few high end items but the most of their merchandise is of low end quality. I would not recommend this store to my friend or co-workers. I would tell them to save their money and catch a clearance sale at Macy's or other fine stores. They will get a better deal and in style clothes. read more

I recently visited the Clothes Mentor store in Orland Park to sell clothes. I had designer clothes from Anne Klein, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karen, Ann Taylor, BCBG, DKNY etc. all purchased with the last two years. All cleaned and pressed on hangers--some with the price tags still attached. If they knew anything about designer clothes; most designer only change the designs slightly however, the quality of the material never changes. They had the nerve to tell me my clothes were outdated and over two years old. I was first insulted, however, I drove right over to another consignment shop and she took all my items and I will realize a hefty check rather than the dismal amount of cash they want to pay you. I looked thru the store and some of the clothes were so old they should have been donated to Good Will. This was not my "first rodeo" selling on consignment--I have been doing this for over 15 years; but this is my "last rodeo" with Clothes Mentor. read more

Their website says they "buy" clothes. The word buy is a very loose term, I took several garments to their store that were pruchased with the last 2 years on the hanger with tags. The clerk sorted my 8-10 garements and chose a pink velour jogging suit and a sundress with the tags (Robbie Bee) that had $118 on it. The other items, need I keep saying nwt (new with tags) were rejected, for various reasons from "we don't take "linen" to we can use that style anymore, 2 yr old clothes, what? She offered me for 3 pieces retail $188, $2.99 total. I also had a brand new Coach Purse, red still in the box which she offered $5 for. It was 10 years old, but as with the other items, I purchased them in up in one of my 4 closets and forgot they were there. The conceptof the" resale "store is good, but the "We buy" clothes is a farce. Unless you want to give away your things I would avoid this store, when I left there I proceeded East to The Goodwill resale store in Tinley Park on 159 & Harlem, where the store is perfectly organized, color coded, there I found the most beautiful pants brand new wfftagsor $6.99 and a cute lamp for my bedroom for $5 and they gave me 25% off my total bill because it was my birthday and one day soon I will return to their store and take some gently worn clothing that I know will be of use to someone annnnnd I get a tax write off to boot. Oh yeah, and here's the kicker, I took my clothes in a plastic hanging bag, the clerk told me they wanted them in a box and if I had more than 2 or 3 items with new tags on them, I would need a receipt. Idiot, if I had the receipt I would not be in your dump. What a time waster, good luck Clothes Mentor, you will need it read more

This place is beyond terrible, and unfortunately it's their overly rude workers that make it this way. Every single time I've gone in my experience gets worse. Mind you I took literally years in between visits because they change workers like you change your underwear. Today, however confirmed I will never be setting foot in this place again. I went in to sell some things, which they didn't take (which was fine) but the worker SUZZIN got smart with me, and when I snapped back she laughed in my face. Which then caused me to go off. I'm never mean to anyone ESPECIALLY in customer service situations. This place is not only a waste of time, but also a waste of space. All of their workers should be fired. read more

This place is a joke. They didn't take any of the items I had which were all name brand items, most never worn before. They said some of it was 2 years old (which it was not) and they said right now they are looking for things with "more bells & whistles" and the associates pointed out an atrocious pair of shoes they had as an example. I know what is in style now, and I wouldn't be caught dead in those shoes or anything in the store for that matter. If you have expensive, name brand items dont waste your time here. I took a lot of top quality items here, wool lined slacks, wool lined suits all very classic and the woman behind tthe counter was very snotty and barely looked at the items and deemed them too old fashioned! Since when were simple classic lines out of style? Also I had a shearling coat which I wore exactly one time which according to this woman had wear by the one pocket! I would never go here again to sell. I took everything up the roadd and donated it to Neat Repeats and they were delighted and had the stuff on the floor before I even left the store and they made a ton of money from them. BTW, I did look around the closet mentor and saw clothes that I would say were over used but trendy that they were asking way too much money for. Also the shop smelt like one of those second hand stores with moldy clothes in it. read more

Probably not a place I'd hurry back to- either as a seller or a customer. I had much higher expectations as a friend referred me to this place for nice, up to date, designer clothing at a fraction of the cost. I suppose if I typically spent $150 on a top, it might be a fraction of the cost, but I was very disappointed in the selection and the prices. There were tons of clothes, so packed together that it was extremely difficult to shop and I eventually just gave up. As a seller, I was equally disappointed. The wait to have them review my single bag of clothing and accessories was over an hour. Secondly, their pricing did not seem fair. The woman ahead of me had 5 bags of beautiful pieces, and they paid her $3.50 for just a couple items. When it was my turn, they pulled out a Coach wristlet which was just purchased last winter and still had the bag and tags (never used it) attached. They offered $5 for it and said they would probably sell it for $15. I doubt it! I left there, my original bag in tow, knowing I could ebay or craigslist the items at much, much more than they were willing to buy them at. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because, in all fairness, they have a great selection of heels priced pretty reasonable for the most part (many are $16) and the boot selection they have for fall was very nice- good condition and most under $40. In general, I think I'd pass this crowded place and spend my time (and much less money) at one of the many other resale shops nearby. Hope this helps with your decision... read more

!!!WARNING- STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! If i could give this place 0 stars or negative two billion stars I would. I have gone there multiple times to sell with clothing items that are nearly new and all on their "top wanted" list and they don't take anything. The workers didn't even look through my items and said that they'll take a pass because its not what their looking for, despite saying that they are in need of the brand of clothing. The workers I have encountered there are extremely stuck up and rude and seem to have no idea what they're doing. I'm also pretty sure they took some items out of my box instead of buying them from me. It took them an hour to look through a small box of clothes yet it looked like they didn't even lay a finger on it. If you are looking to sell your clothes, do NOT even bother coming here- it is a complete waste of time. DO NOT GO HERE. The clothing they do take and sell here are some of the most dirtiest, disgusting things I have ever had the misfortune of laying my eyes on. The prices there are also crazy high, considering the items are used and usually gross as all hell. The store is so cramped and unorganized-- basically like finding a needle in a haystack-- a dirty, dirty, haystack. Don't waste your money here. If your looking for gently used clothes, go to Goodwill or Savers, NOT here. read more

I would agree with most that it is very cramped. The clothing also seems to not make a ton of sense regarding location. I feel like it would be easier to do it by size than long sleeve, short sleeve, and tank tops. Jewelry, clothing, shoes, and accessories were plentiful and mostly in good condition. Would have come back again, but had a bad experience with resale. They're very scattered, and wouldn't let me leave the store while my things were there, even just to go outside. I brought in two bags, and they only looked through one even though the had been marked by the employee who too them as "1 of 2" and "2 of 2". Most items were rejected with no reason, and the items they did offer me money for were al out offensive amounts of money. Such as $10 for a $300 three year old Dooney and Bourke leather bag I used twice. The woman looked astounded when I told her I did not want her money. I was also told a Burberry wallet I purchased at a Burberry store was likely fake as they could not verify authenticity. read more

I have shopped here a few times they have a lot of stuff here. I bought a pair of pants and discovered there was an issue with them. I lost the receipt and it was past the return time frame so I called the store spoke to Melanie the manager and she told me to come in and talk to her about the situation. I was disappointed. I saw the commercials on TV and was excited, as I had six gorgeous Coldwater Creek jackets to sell that were worn once or not at all. Well, I am certain I could have received more for each jacket at a garage sale. Their selection was hit or miss and while some of my stuff was not accepted due to a slight imperfection, sothey claimed, there were items on the racks in much worse condition than the jackets I had. I originally came here to unload some clothes that I owned, and I ended up finding some really great things. I purchased two blouses (with the tags still on them new) and I have purchased a few other items as well. Not every item still has the tags on them, but some do. I look for the brand names that I like such as Bannana Republic, Gap, J Crew, Theory etc. You really have to allow time to dig through the racks, and they seem to be busy on Saturday mornings/afternoons. I have gone there in the evenings and that seems to be a really good time to look around. read more

So I went to this store yesterday to sell my LV bag which is retailed at around $300-$400. I understand mine wasn't new, but it was GENTLY used if that. Anyway, the salesgirl got so excited the minute she ran the bag through some tests to make sure of its authenticity and realized that, in fact, it was real. Duh! Well, before she even told me how much I was getting for it, she was already talking about a girl who would purchase it immediately. First, this salesgirl said I was getting over $100. So I thought it probably wouldn't be so bad, but at the end she switched it to $75!! What!! She must've been on something! She said they were going to price it at $150. Right! ;) How am I suppose to believe this when they have lots of outdated, worn out purses hanging around with even more ridiculous price tags? While all of this was taking place, I noticed a decent pair of trendy Bakers lace-up booties priced at $16. However, inside one of them was a note that read, " Missing other piece". After I inspected for a "missing piece", everything checked out so I decided to buy them. Just as she was taking the money from my hand, she noticed the note inside the boot and began to question me about it. Umm... Last time I checked you're the one who works here, I'm the customer, remember? I told her the note was inside one of the boots. I shouldn't have said that because then she called someone I'm guessing it was a co-worker, boss. Don't know. Well after she hung up she told me about how the boots were never meant to go on the selling floor and I'm guessing one of these girls already had their eye on them. She said the note was there because they couldn't find the other pair. Seriously? Don't tell me this! That just shows how poorly managed this place is. Overall, horrible experience as a shopper and seller. If you want to buy from them you'll probably just be stuck with miserable reject items that the "sales people" didn't want to keep for themselves. And if you want to sell your items to them well good luck 'cause they'll probably try to rip you off. Also, store definitely needs better management/ training. read more

First the workers here do not get te concept that the same people trying to sell their clothes are the same people who will buy from them as well. Second they treat every customer as if they barged in after closing time. Lastly the company must be making good money because the price they buy clothes for and the price that they sell it for leaves quite a bit of room for profit read more

I brought a bag of clothes in yesterday for resale. When I returned to pick them up the clerk said she did not want any of them. She said they were too basic and the store was overstocked, which it was. The clothes were not even unfolded so obviously she didn't even look at them. That was all right, I understand. When I got home and took them out of the bag, I noticed that one of my tops was missing, an animal print blouse. Obviously it was stolen. I live in Indianapolis, thus cannot go back to confront her, not that it would do any good. That is my reason for writing this review. The Orland Park store has gone downhill the last few years. Heard of commercial on tv and was excited...finally a clothes shop with clothes for a real woman!!! The store is new, clean and packed with clothes, shoes, accessories and of course purses! There are definitely some high end designers (i.e. Coach, Manolo Blahnik, etc.,) but also, Lane Bryant, Coldwater Creek, etc. I wish they had some more winter jackets, but since the store just opened, I am sure they will be getting more in. People were already strolling in with their bags of clothes to sell! There are also petites, misses and maternity as well. This is upscale resale for the real woman at its best!! read more

This place has really gone downhill. I have brought things in before and was very happy with the results. This time I came in soon after the stored opened and was told it would be 1 1/2 hour wait time. Seriously, I have brought much larger quantities and was told 45 minutes at the most. I looked around the store for a little bit and really didn't see anything. I mean why would I buy cheap used clothing, i.e. Old Navy when I can buy it cheap new? Anyway, I left and came back later and thought what I saw was the girl working on my bag. Looked around and decided to try on a couple things. I thought I might take one of the dresses but I noticed the other one was torn at the seam. I asked the girl if she was done and she said No, she had just started and it would be another 10 or 15 minutes. I decided to leave again and wait for the text which came 30 minutes later. So, it took 2 1/2 hours for them to check my stuff and then be told they couldn't take a designer trench coat because there was a small tear in the seam (that I honestly didn't know about). Yet, they have things on the rack that are torn. Whatever, the bottom line is It's not worth it. read more
