I only give them 2 stars because the food was great. I didn't like the experience at all. One employee was constantly complaining out loud which was annoying. Complaining about door dash runners.... Other employees didn't even really talk to the customers; didn't smile. Basically it felt like they wanted to hurry up, do their service and get you out. I felt bad for the employees that we're making the food because the waiters were mean to them. Then the employee that was complaining about the door Dash runners was mocking customers laughs. I like this place. I do. My friends are sushi snobs and tried to warn me about the ambiance; it's a sushi bar! No worries. The drinks slap (slang for really good) and the rolls are pretty decent! Crab salad was the best I ever had, and I measure a sushi spot on their crab salad and their how well they can put together a Spider Roll. They received an A in my book. The start of my experience here was not good. We were told an hour wait, which was fine - we had a drink down the street. We came back at the time they told us and waited another 15 minutes in the middle of the restaurant - the servers couldn't even get through. When they cleared a table for us, we went to stand near it, allowing them to get through still to wipe it off. We were told to move back to the crowded "line" in the middle of the restaurant - in a pretty rude tone. The sushi was really really delicious, however it annoyed me that there were people who were sat after us, ordered after us, and were eating before us. Not sure how that happened because it appeared that they ordered the same amount as us. The sushi took quite awhile but was so yummy. I came here on Sunday for dinner after arriving in Ohio for business. It was surprisingly crowded so I was seated at the bar, which I like. The half off all sushi all the time is weird, as other reviewers said, why not just have lower prices? Marketing gimmick I guess. There was another sushi place next door offering the same deal. Great sushi, probably one of my favorites outside of those real places in Japan I was fortunate enough to visit. Be prepared to wait for seating, which is tight and most likely right next to someone you didn't show up with. The tight venue makes it fun and adds to the fun of the dinner and poppy social scene of listening to conversations of Hyde Park locals talk about 1st World problems. I live in Columbus but my best friend lives in Cincinatti so whenever I come visit her we come here after a night of bar hopping. Kudos to the employees who deal with drunk people on a daily basis. I mean, they're geniuses to stay late as open as they do as I know for sure I'm not the only one who craves food after a few drinks. It's a pretty small place and every time I've been there it's always so crowded. A little overwhelming but the tables are spread far enough apart that you're not sitting on top of someone. The prices are AWESOME. Half price which makes it super cheap. My boyfriend and I ordered four rolls each and the bill came out to about 30 bucks. Also, my boyfriend who has never really eaten sushi became a huge fan after trying this place out. The sushi is pretty good quality. Not the best I've ever had but definitely up there. My favorite roll is the Sunday Morning. It's SO SO GOOD! Deep fried salmon with cream cheese = amazing. The spicy tuna is also good as well as the philly roll. Everything tastes fresh and their sushi selection is great as there's something for everyone. Overall, great place and cheap prices. You can't go wrong here that's for sure. read more

I am a definite fan of their Sunday Morning roll! The service varies depending on who you get. Most of the time our waiters have been nice and accommodating. Unfortunately the seating there is atrocious especially when you're there with only two people. Went here Friday night 06/10/16 for sushi with a friend. It was ok for half priced. The restaurant is dark inside. It gets very crowded and they have banquet size tables that you can share with other people. I would bring cash to this place. My fiancé and I had a great experience at Cloud 9 last night. They have half off sushi for dine in orders all the time. We were in before 7:00, so all beer (except Sapporo) was half off as well. I ordered a few rolls. They were all fantastic! My favorite was the Rockstar roll (tempura shrimp roll topped with a good portion of spicy tuna.) My fiancé ordered the beef and chicken yakisoba. He really enjoyed it as well. He asked if they had any coffee. They don't, but our server was nice enough to bring him some hot water and instant coffee packets there for employees on the house. For, 2 large Orions, edamame, 4 rolls and one entree, our bill came to less than $50. It was a great date night! We're definitely going to go back to Cloud 9. read more

Its alright, but not great. If you're looking for a loud place with TVs and a late night with friends then it is the perfect spot. If you're looking for a romantic date then stay away. We were seated at a two top table on a corner and I was practically breathing on the people at the table next to me- too crowded for an intimate conversation. The meat and rice were good but the vegetables were very undercooked and the broccoli had loads of grease saturating it. Our server greeted us with waters and a quick run down of the menu and then disappeared for 15 minutes. It was busy so I cut him some slack because I've been a server for 6 years so I understand it happens. But we had to request a refill 3 times from him and different servers before one was brought over and after that he simply disappeared as though he was ashamed to talk to us. He spoke to the other big tables in his section all around us but just didn't speak to us. But as soon as we had our card out to pay he was extremely attentive and quick to bring us a to go box. I felt like he didn't consider us important because we were a two person table instead of a group and he prejudged that we were going to not tip as much as the bigger tables so he didn't put forth the effort like he did with the big tables. What a shame- I'm usually a very gracious and big tipper because I'm a server too. Of course we still left a tip, but he just didn't make us feel welcomed, remembered or valued. We won't go back. I have been to cloud 9 multiple times before and it has always been great, last night was no different. Last night I went into the restaurant by myself to grab dinner and I was quickly seated at the bar, the restaurant was very crowded, but the server came over right away and greeted me and brought water. The sushi was great (as usual), but I would like to compliment the service more than anything. There is one server in particular who typically serves us at the bar and he is always so pleasant and working very hard. I had gone to E & O up the street before I got to cloud 9 last night and the service was absolutely awful, I got up and left. It was a 180 at Cloud 9. I live down the street from Cloud 9 and have been there several times. While the sushi itself is not bad (go to Ichiban for the best sushi), I am consistently disappointed with the service. It is always so crowded, and it seems like there are only one or two servers. The last time I went was on a Thursday around 6:30. I ordered two rolls and it took 45 minutes to get them. The (one) server was not attentive, but I couldn't really blame him because he was waiting on every other table as well. The restaurant is extremely small and cramped, and would definitely benefit from moving to a new, bigger location. Bottom line, if you want really good sushi quick, go a few doors down and go to Ichiban, where there is more space, there are more servers, and the price is very comparable. read more

I have eaten sushi all over this great country. I have never had sushi that was this subpar . Not sure if the food was bad or if it was the dust hanging on every thing . For example, the sushi guy not sure if we should call him a chef . Handed my wife and I are order and in doing so hit a low hangging light and dust ended up falling in to are plate.
