For years, this has been one of our favorite local restaurants, but over the past few months it has become our absolute favorite place to eat. The addition of Chef Padro has taken the food to an entirely new level. Every dish we've tried has been beautifully prepared, thoughtfully seasoned, and full of flavor without losing the comfort and warmth that made us love this restaurant in the first place. One thing I appreciate most is that Chef Padro truly cares about his guests. He welcomes honest feedback and is clearly passionate about continually improving the dining experience. That kind of dedication is becoming harder and harder to find, and it shows in every meal. A special shout-out also goes to Pam behind the bar. She is simply the best! She remembers her customers, makes everyone feel welcome, and crafts some of the best cocktails around. Between Pam's hospitality and Chef Padro's incredible food, every visit feels like a night out with friends. I know change isn't always easy, especially for longtime customers, but I would encourage everyone to come with an open mind and give the new menu a chance. The quality, creativity, and attention to detail are exceptional, and our experience has only gotten better with every visit. We're also excited to see the beautiful expansion of the outdoor dining area. It's obvious the owners are investing in making this restaurant an even better place to gather with family and friends. The restaurant itself was nice and the ambience was genuinely enjoyable, but the rest of the experience was a letdown. We arrived at 4:30 and were the only guests there, yet it still took 30 minutes just to receive an appetizer. We ended up being there for an hour and a half, mostly waiting on food. My wife's walleye was so greasy and full of pin bones that she couldn't eat it, and they didn't bother to take it off the bill. I wish I had taken photos, because the dishes looked nothing like what's shown on their website or the OpenTable app. For the price, it was extremely disappointing, and we won't be returning. read more

Great location in an old school. Recently renovated and well done with great ambiance. Haven't been in years as it's more of an older crowd and went last week for burger week. Really enjoyed their cheeseburgers priced at $9 for burger week however looking at the menu they are normally priced at $21 with no sides which is pretty expensive. Onion rings were $8 for a small plate. Margaritas were $5 that day and were very bitter. Normally $13. Overall good experience our total was $45 for two burgers and one onion ring and two margaritas. Normal price would have been over $80 which is nuts. When we went in at 4:15 every single table was reserved so make sure to reserve before the old folks get there. Went there for dinner with my wife last night and we were very surprised at the renovations and updated menu. Used to go all the time but the menu never changed. Pan is still there behind the bar & is still awesome. Brand new deck off the bar gives it a whole new vide. Will definitely become a regular again! read more

Went for burger week. Burgers were advertised at $8. A burger and fries is $15 on the regular menu. For burger week their special was to charge $8 for burgers and $7 for fries. That's not a special. it was not a friendly place at all, service was not good, food was lackluster at best. read more

The food tasted like someone thought salt was too spicy. We got the salmon and chicken. Chicken was 4 oz at best, and the salmon had no flavor. They say it's almond crusted but it didn't taste like it. Road side diners have more flavor. Ambiance was amazing! Service fantastic thus the two star. Our recent dinner here was pretty good. I stopped in with my kids and grandson for dinner on a Saturday night. They did ask if we had reservations and at first I thought we might not get a table - even though the place was nearly empty and is fairly large. We got a booth and sat down to order. The table was very sticky. But not from dirt or food. Seems like years of grease or cleaners had made the table tacky. Our napkins stuck to the table. My daughter and I order drinks. The 5 Mile Espresso Martini for my daughter and the 1874 Old Fashioned for me. Both were awesome! My grandson ordered the Grilled Cheese kids meal. And I ordered the side of Homemade Mac & Cheese for the table so he could try it. His sandwich was pretty small but he liked it well enough. He didn't care for the mac & cheese as much but the rest of us thought it was ok. I ordered the CC Pan Roasted Chicken. My son and daughter both ordered the NY Strip. I should've gotten the NY Strip! They both really enjoyed it and said it was quite good. The steaks were prepared as they ordered them. The potatoes were good and the veggies were steamed and crisp. My son chose the soup and my daughter the coleslaw (that comes with the entrees) I didn't care for my chicken dish at all and didn't eat much it. Nothing was wrong with it and it wasn't the fault of the kitchen. I just didn't like it. I did enjoy the side salad that came with my dish. The service was good, no complaints at all. And it's in an old school house - so the decor is interesting. read more

12/13/2024. I've lived nearby for several years and finally made it there to dine. We started with drinks in the bar and moved to our table when our full party arrived. The bar/ lounge was very nicely done and we felt very welcome. Not a quiet place but certainly quiet enough to converse without difficulty hearing. The dining area was very comfortable and decorated very nicely. Service was prompt, professional, and we never felt rushed. The orders included the Sea bass special, pork chops dinner, an upscale burger with slaw, and the meatball appetizer with house salad. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal and ambiance. I always investigate restroom and kitchen conditions and can report that everything J could see was clean, well stocked, and convenient. I will for sure visit here again soon. The manager Chris, bartender Pam and all-around good guy Dan, plus the chef created a truly wonderful experience for my late wife's gathering of 50 family and friends on a July Sunday afternoon. They willingly and creatively worked with us to set the perfect tone for Sally's Gathering. Their ideas for the hors d'oeuvere buffet were spot on and easy for guests to carry while socializing. Pam easily served the crowd even when they arrived all at once. Dan oversaw our slide show and playlist without a glitch. I can't say enough about how special they were to work with. We had a seasonal flatbread, I had a couple $5 margs for their Thursday bar special (they were perfect), he had a burger with everything and I had the pan roasted chicken sub mashed potatoes instead of rice. Went New Years Eve. The dining room looked like a senior center. We soon found out why. Three of six diners ate very little of their dinners and no one asked why when they cleared the table. Fish tacos consisted of flour tortillas filled with shredded cheese and rice and lettuce and fish crumbles sprinkled across thet top to the extent I didn't know they were there. We ordered the fish tacos and chicken tettrazini. Our waitress didn't want to hear any negative comments so I felt they are not used to people complaining. These entrees were 18.95 and 19.95. This was the only restaurant in the area who had reservations a week earlier and I can see why. The wine list was very limited and expensive. read more

I loved Clough Crossing for many years. When Covid hit things took a big turn down hill. First the fresh baked rolls we loved disappeared and then the restaurant sold. The food has been awful - several fish dishes are raw in the middle, prime rib tonight was tough that I couldn't cut it, and the mash potatoes tasted like box mash potatoes. Whoever is cooking doesn't have enough experience in seasoning and cooking. The place has hit an all time low. I wish the new buyers would had never bought the place! Have been a patron of this restaurant since they opened. Gary,the former owner was friendly to all the diners. The new owner does not smile very much. Recently had dinner there. Did not have a reservation but was told that was OK and did we think we would be finished by 6:30? We were a party of two. We said we probably would be. We arrived a little after five and had dinner and dessert. Bill was around $80. Just as I was putting my credit card back in my wallet the owner walked over and said we need this booth now! Didn't say "I'm sorry are you finished, did you have a good meal, basically, please leave!" Needless to say as we could not get the waitresses attention to get drink refills, bread for the table and more salad dressing that took extra time. Sadly will not be back. Customer service is everything and an unfriendly attitude will ruin your business. read more

The bartender Pam cost this restaurant years of business from us tonight. We waited for a spot at the bar. Another couple waited as well. When both spots opened we agreed on our respective spots. All good. Pam then had some attitude and under her breath,but quite visibly referred to my wife and I as "fucking assholes", assuming that we pounced on seats at the bar before the other couple. Not the case at all. Then she disappeared from the bar for twenty minutes. No menus, no service. Not to mention that we frequent this restaurant and have tolerated Pam's slow service while still tipping her generously. Tonight was the last straw. If you like being a regular then only to be called a fucking asshole then this is the place for you. For us, we'll never be back. read more

Locally owned, with a charming interior, attentive staff, and an onsite owner who mingled throughout the restaurant all night, making sure everything was well taken care of and up to par. (golf humor..get it? there's tons of golf memorabilia that clientele have brought from all over the world) He was very accommodating to get six of us seated at the last minute, after we'd all had a long day at a nearby hospice center. Menu: We ordered a variety of items - from the chicken Cobb salad, seafood bisque, tilapia tacos and pork chops. EVERYONE was a member of the clean plate club. The dishes were well seasoned, nicely portioned and attractively presented. The rolls were on the table within minutes of being seated, and refilled with dinner. Our waitress was thoughtful enough to deliver a generous slab of German chocolate cake to the table for my mom's birthday. Why go to the chains and get the same thing? It's probably because you want a 'sure thing." This place delivers that and beyond. I'd encourage anyone reading this review to drive an extra mile or two, support a local business and have a memorable experience. Nice family owned business in an charming home. Lots of character like we were sitting in a big library with a fireplace. We had crab cakes with roumalade sauce and a tasty salad with salmon on top. The salad had walnuts and pastachios and fruit. All tables were given homemade rolls. Each day they have specials along with desert specials like key lime pie, peanut butter pie and blackberry cobbler. Service was excellent and since we had to get to a show they sped our order right through. Definitely beats the chains. Give it a try! read more

There are lots of great items on the menu, however, I want to focus on two-- The Clough Burger and The Whaler. The Clough Burger is one of the best, nothing-fancy burgers you will find in Cincinnati. You can get it with any number of toppings you want. The Whaler is a fantastic fish sandwich that, as the name suggests, is very large and always perfectly crispy. Top it all off with the hot and crispy fries (steak fries type) that come with both and you will be very happy! read more

This is my 3rd time here and the food it so yummy. It is in an old school house in Cincy. The food is home cooked. There is something about this place that keeps me coming back. Service is awesome. The staff is awesome. The owner is always there. It's small but so unique. The crown molding along the top is made up of wine corks. Most people never look up but when you are there please do. They have a nice bar and outside area. Please when you are in Cincy check this place out. Prices are affordable and the amount of food you get you won't leave hungry. read more

Restored school building from the 1800s, near history and simple but good menu. I ordered off the summer specials a Mexican chicken dish. It was actually very good (even though the waitress asked how I wanted my chicken cooked!!! Um done!) grilled and sliced chicken over a bed of black beans and rice with peppers and chilies and covered and baked with melted cheese on top. The seasoning was good and not overly spicy. The people I was with both had the pork chop which was thick cut and grilled and had generous side of potatoes and veggies. Monday is 1/2 price wine night. Score! I understand the family that owns the restaurant lives upstairs above the restaurant, just contributed to the European pub feel. Solid restaurant in a nice setting. read more

The building is truly interesting. An old schoolhouse, it has a bit of a timeless feel to it. At 40 years old, I definitely brought the average age down a bit, the clientele shaded towards the elderly set. The menu is simple, but full of choices. My wife had shrimp wrapped in bacon and was very happy with it. I had the roast beef sandwich with aus juice. It arrived with a handful of Burger King style fries. Yes, they were cooked well, with a slight crunch and soft inside. However, they were tasteless. For about $15, I would expect better than this. They were fast food boring. My sandwich, the roast beef, was far from what I expected. I can't imagine that it was made on premises. It would best compare to a high school cafeteria hoagie. The meat was uniformly grey, rubbery, and without any seasoning that I could detect. I suspect that it was a microwaved product supplied frozen by a food service vendor. Arby's would not have served this. I couldn't finish the sandwich. On a positive note, the server was friendly and excellent. She was attentive, yet not intrusive. The draft beer list, while small, was well curated. I think this restaurant does some things very well. However it seems they try to round out their menu with generic pre-cooked food sourced elsewhere. I'd like to see the menu pared down to what is done right. I'd also like to see hand cut fries. At this price point, the potatoes should be superb. read more

Mediocre dinner out. I love that it's a locally owned, individual restaurant. The ambiance is good and their outdoor deck seating is lovely. They even have a putting green! When we recently went for dinner we ordered rainbow trout, the meatloaf special, and the whaler fish sandwich. They do serve buttery warm croissants before dinner is served. The rainbow trout meal was a bit bland with a lack of seasoning/flavor served with rice and plain steamed vegetables. The Anderson area lacks these locally owned unique restaurants so it's a good one to visit. Pretty basic food but good, friendly service. read more

First, a disclaimer... The clientele at this bar/restaurant tends to be on the northern side of 50 years old. But don't let that deter you. The food and staff are fantastic. The food: This is my parents' favorite restaurant and I've joined them dozens of times there for meals. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here. The food is consistently above average and always quick. I love the chicken wings, they are grilled and kinda crispy yet still very juicy. They also have a daily special that the chef prepares. The staff: Top notch. Quick, friendly, knowledgable... 'nuff said. The atmosphere: It's in an old schoolhouse on Clough Pike and definitely still has some of that feel to it. For example, once you enter the front door you're in a vestibule with stairs and the door to the dining area. You'll notice that the door handle seems awfully low. That's because it was put lower so that the school children could easily open and close the door. Pretty cool that some of the original schoolhouse charm still shines through. Don't let the old-timers deter you, think of them as wise sages who have scoured Anderson Township and settled on Clough Crossing as one of the best restaurants in the area. read more

I took my parents here because I knew they would enjoy the food and the attentive staff, but also because it is a nice atmosphere where we could have a conversation without having to raise our voices to hear each other. It's hard to find restaurants that do not have blaring televisions or piped in music (there is a separate bar area and I haven't stepped in there so there might be tvs in there in). The three of us had a chicken cordon bleu sandwich, soup, bbq bacon burger, fish sandwich, onion rings and derby pie and everything was delicious and filling! Took my daughter to try the restaurant side of Clough Crossing. The waitress got my daughter's order incorrect, no big deal, she made it right but it took some time before she came to see if our food was alright. The main dining room has a gorgeous carved antique bookcase! The kitchen staff was out in the dining room talking with some patrons and really being noisy and distracting! After all it's a small quiet room. One guffah after another... There was one of the staff/ help that just kept making loops around the dining room over and over and over strange and also distracting!! My shrimp tacos were tasty and the sides pretty good. I tried the cheeseburger soup since it is an anomaly and it was good as well, food was good, but the goings on really bad. Probably will wait another 10 years to come back with what we experienced. read more

I love this place. Have been going there maybe once a year for the past several. I consider it a "special occasion" place, however you will find what appear to be regulars there in the bar every time. And yes, as another reviewer mentioned, if you are under 40 you will feel like a kid here... but don't let that deter you. Have had many things on the menu and have really loved it all. Made New Year's reservations last year - got seated probably 45 minutes later than the reservation, but as the owner pointed out, it's really hard to tell how long people are going to linger at their table - especially on a holiday. Wait staff has always been very friendly and knowledgable. Great place for a date. The building has history, the menu has diversity. I have yet to sit on the patio but I am sure it's nice out there in the spring and fall. read more

Meh. Only good thing is the bat upstairs. Atmosphere in the restaurant tries to be upscale, but food is just average. Clientele is older generation, and it just feels like a 70's country club dining room. The building and location are great... Just wish it was more memorable and 'fun'. Not for bringing kids!
