This was a great chill spot for a casual Friday night outing with great cocktails…read more My sister and I went because we wanted a fun social night out. The drink menu has good variety and fun cocktails. We enjoyed chatting with the staff about the drinks and learning how they came up with different recipes. I got the Manhattan which was delicious and the "Can We Interest you in an Egg in this Trying Lime". Both were very good. They had a live band which was nice to hang out and listen to. Another perk was the building had a large parking lot! Not something we expected heading into St. Paul. If you want a fun cocktail spot but that's chill and not pretentious, I recommend this spot They do not have food but have a rotating list of food trucks!

I remember back to when the distillery was basically a hallway with tanks. Anyway... When they opened a cocktail room (again, I know, way late on this review), it was pretty exciting for the East Side. The space itself is a little different, with a sitting space right where you walk in and the bar further in the back, but I suppose that is what happens when you are located in the remnants of a historic brewery. Bartenders are friendly. Biggest drawback here is they are a small, craft distillery, so you may not find the spirit you're looking for. But! Be a little adventurous amd you'll still find something you'll enjoy

The space itself is beautiful with a really cozy ambiance, and the patio is a great option when the weather is nice. The drinks are absolutely the star of the show. You can tell there is so much intention behind both the flavors and the presentation. The cocktail menu is super creative, and the Old Fashioned menu alone is phenomenal with so many unique options. The Beorn Old Fashioned was my favorite. We also tried the Payanello (pineapple, lime, ginger, pickled jalapeño) and it was incredible. Food was fantastic as well. The brussels sprouts were so good and a must order. Service was amazing. Our server was so kind, helpful, and gave great recommendations, which made the whole experience even better. It is on the pricier side, especially for drinks, but honestly worth it for the quality and experience. Reservations are easy to make and I would definitely recommend booking ahead. Parking was manageable when we went, but I could see it getting tricky during busier times. Overall, such a beautiful, thoughtfully done space with incredible drinks, great food, and top tier service. A perfect spot for a night out or just grabbing a cocktail and soaking in the vibe.

Since I don't drink alcohol, I opted for one of their zero-proof cocktails, the St. Agrestis Phony Negroni. It had a subtle hint of pineapple, but the drink itself was a bit too strong for my taste. We also tried their new Irish Spice Bag, but unfortunately it wasn't a favorite. The dish was a little bland, and the curry sauce could have used more seasoning. Overall, this place just wasn't the right fit for my personal tastes, but I can definitely see it appealing to those who appreciate sophisticated cocktails and an upscale, stylish atmosphere.

Our tour guide, one of the owners, gave a very informative and comprehensive tour of their entire distilling process. The tour starts with a little history of their bourbons and then we were taken on a journey all the way from where their grain was grown through the distilling process to aging in small cask barrels. The tour ends with a tasting of their whiskeys, which by the way I appreciate the free Glen Cairn tasting glass. I also appreciate a local distillery strictly specializing in whiskeys. However, Studio distilling does like to tinker around with some "blended whiskeys", you'll have to take the tour to know what I'm talking about. The whiskey: AWESOME! Let's first talk about their bourbon. From what I remember it was 92 proof. Although I consider this not a higher alcohol content, the taste seems like it is higher then it is. It definitely goes nice with cocktails as it's flavor profile reminds me of a bourbon coming out of Buffalo Trace distillery. Now on to the Rye: DOUBLE AWESOME!! The rye is actually a "hand crafted" rye malt. Don't let the "malt" keep you from trying this rye, it's a very complex flavor profile and holds its own drinking it neat as well as pairing excellently in a Manhattan. I've already gone through a couple bottles myself. Their rye malt whiskey also took the double gold medal at the World Spirits competition in San Fransisco, which in the world of spirits, this competition is like going to the Olympics. If you like whiskey, by all means book a tour and try out their whiskeys for yourself, you won't regret it.
