A fun little bar with a good view of Clam Lake. Pull your boat up to the dock, or your sled up to the lot and enjoy the local flair.

The cocktails were always good but have gotten even better. The Is Your Real Name Fonzi is my fave cocktail to pair with one of their cigars. Same with the food. It was always good but is even better now. The wings are fire and the collard dip is a fave. Salmon spaghetti is delicious. Beef tips are great too. There's live r&b and soul music multiple times a week. Great happy hour specials. This spot is a whole vibe. Friendly service. I'm always running into a friend or acquaintance when I go. It's the culture for me plus no foolishness. Love that for US. I love what they've cultivated here.

Upon entering we were greeted by a woman who was clearly wearing multiple hats as she seemed rushed, a bit off putting and quite frankly distracted. It was Juneteenth the middle of the afternoon and there were maybe 6 people at the bar and one other table besides ours with 2 diners. The person seating us was also our server and the bartender. Menu is small but the items we ordered were all fabulous! Every single one! The collard green dip with cornbread pita chips was absolutely delicious - Think spinach artichoke dip but soul food! The salmon croquettes with lemon herb aioli and arugula salad that accompanied were fresh and light! The catfish sandwich with fries was hot, crispy and well seasoned with fresh lettuce and tomato on a perfectly tender brioche bun. I want to return so bad for the food but it was clear this host, server, bartender and partial cook was pulled in too many directions and that severely compromised our service and gave us stand off energy as first time patrons. I looked it up and she is actually one of the owners. She came across as irritated especially once we didn't order any alcoholic drinks first and then very short and curt following. What took the cake was her telling us she was leaving for the day and needed to close our tab while we were eating. Didn't ask did we want to order anything else and there was another server taking her place and an empty restaurant! My partner had to put his sandwich down wipe his hands pull out his wallet while she stood there impatiently. Then proceeded to linger around hugging her regular bar patrons. It was clear this is a "regulars" spot and if you're not one you're rolling the dice on the service you may or may not get. We were patient and didn't complain because it was Juneteenth and our intention to support black restaurants all weekend. I have many previous years in the industry as a cook, host and GM and I was stunned to know that she was one of the owners when I looked it up. Had planned to return for live music but unfortunately the off putting energy and unwelcoming vibe may have squashed that possibility. I hope they improve service because the food is delicious and deserves attention from a larger and more sophisticated audience.

Took a trip out to the White Rock Lounge to actually see a show. This was my first show here and…read morethe vibe was amazing. I have honestly never heard of these bands because I am not in the metal scene and was most likely the odd one. I did however meet some very cool people and had some amazing conversations. I got a chance to speak to some band members and a chance to purchase some of the Merch. The merchandise was very good quality in my opinion and priced decently for the work put into creating it. The bands Ulkum, Wilbur, and Lungs were incredible. When people who don't understand metal hear the word metal they think a group of people playing very loud then head banging followed by loud screaming and smashing things. All metal is not like that these bands had harmony and played gracefully as well and some of the parts had a romantic melody to them. The bands were very enthusiastic and I learned a lot from some of them and that it was not only metal music that inspired them to play metal. The sound at the white rock lounge was perfect it was not like going to some places where it's so loud that it will rupture your eardrums and the sound technician they had was right on point with making sure things ran smoothly. The metal people are not as unfriendly are people would think and you should not be afraid of them if you take the time to speak to them then you will learn a lot about travel, adventure and music from them. I had an amazing night and the white rock staff was amazing as well as Steve the owner who was all over the place running his business. It's rare these days to have a hands-on owner running around getting his hands dirty and mingling with the people. I plan to check out another show there and try metal karaoke lol. If you have not been here and you live in the area give it a try and come with an open mind. #stpaul #saintpaul #lowertownstpaul #Lowertown #thewhiterocklounge #twrl #yelp #yelpelitesquad #yelpelitesquad #metalmusic #ülküm #lungs #metal #wilbur #heavymetalmusic

They have a parking lot, so easy parking. I didnt make a reservation but walked in and was seated immediately. Dim lights and everything had a hint of purple to it. Definitely like the change from what it was before when crazy Cajun was there. Just a chill kick back spot for food and drinks and good music. I ordered catfish strips and some wings. Didnt realize it was happy hour for wings though, or else I would have got more. It did take a bit for the food to come out but it was hot, fresh and cooked to perfection when it did. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Only issue was I didnt understand the tab at first. In a digital world where we dont get to see the actual tab, I had to ask why it was the price it was. She told me tax, but when I got the actual receipt, it was actually because they added gratuity. I just think being transparent about that goes a long way, and I actually tipped 7% on top of the %15 already on there. Other than that, a really good experience and I would definitely go back for more food.

I was pleasantly surprised by Whiskey Joe's. This place has been so many different places and most…read moreof them have had mediocre food at best so haven't felt the need to stop in. Whiskey Joe's has great food, reasonably priced drinks, and really good atmosphere. This place gets busy Thursday-Sunday evenings. They have live music, bingo, and meat raffles frequently. I've been here twice in the last month and loved the chicken nachos and Oarhouse pizza both times. The portions are huge and they are really tasty. The negatives are we asked for no peppers in the pizza the first time and no jalapeños on the nachos the second time and neither happened so the kitchen doesn't seem great with requests. Also, they charge for fountain drink refills, this is always tacky given the profit margin on fountain drinks.

Unfortunately, it was a massive disappointment before we even sat down. As first-time visitors, we walked up to the outside bar and were "greeted" by a woman who I can only assume is the "Peggy" mentioned in all the other negative reviews. She was extremely rude right off the bat. The vibe was instantly hostile, and we felt so incredibly unwelcomed that we just turned right around and left. If this is how they treat potential new customers, they won't have to worry about us coming back. First time stopping by, and it will absolutely be the last. Save your time and money and go somewhere where the staff actually wants you there.
