Juan is a very professional businessman and he's old school cuz he believes the customer is right and wants to do what they ask him to do. Meaning he wants you to be happy with the work that his company does for you. The job I hired them for initially was some fences we needed replaced. Three different locations on our property at a total of about 230 feet of fencing demoed and rebuild with gates and painted by his ace painter, Ivan. We're really happy with his professional acumen, flexibility and willingness to get our business and make sure we are happy with the results. We are taking more bids for him as we have a lot more fences and painting to do at our community. Give Elite a try, I promise they will do their best to suit your needs within your budget. Cheers!

I had reached out to several fence contractors, but Juan responded immediately and gave me the answer I was looking for, which was an honest one: he couldn't tell me how much the job would cost without seeing it in person. I respect that. Juan came out punctually the next morning to give me an estimate. He immediately pointed out a couple of reasons why our decrepit gate and fence was failing and offered two solutions that would ensure that the replacements were durable and functional. He offered fair pricing which included hauling away the old materials. Within a couple of hours he had emailed a professional and clear estimate. Two days later, Juan and his crew arrived a few minutes earlier than scheduled to get started on our project. Each team member was very professional, clean, and fast- they worked together so quietly it almost seemed as if they had an unspoken way of communicating with each other. This was really appreciated since the work was being done just outside of our home office where my husband was on several meetings that morning. When the project was done, my husband and I were very impressed with the quality of the work and materials. Juan had called me an hour after his crew left to ensure that we were satisfied with the job. I got an estimate from him for some more work we need to get done in the future, we'll definitely hire him again! Ivan sent Eugene to pressure-wash and then stain the house. Eugene is an artist who does meticulous work. The result is beautiful. Then Ivan sent a crew to remove our gutters (don't use Leafguard gutters if you live beneath fir trees) and install new wide gutters, screens, and downspouts. They finished our 2.5-story house in a day. The job site was left clean. Ivan and his company are highly recommended.

We just purchased it a year ago. They say they are going to pay for the repair but waiting for confirmation of that. They want too much of the money up front which seems to make them lose interest. 90% before the job is done. This star value could change if things look up. Update: Job was finished and work was done well. Continue with having the company credit us on the final bill for the air conditioner repair we already paid for. We have the pictures of their worker standing on the unit and the dent it cause. The salesman that does the estimates are very professional and make you feel like the company knows what they're doing. But not an actual representation of the workers and billing department. I will change the rating to a 3 because the work was good.

The old siding had become brittle and cracked. On a recent re-roof job the roofers had some difficulty installing step flashing under the siding. The old siding cracked as they worked. Sister Siding made it all pretty again. Work crew was pleasant and didn't mind explaining their voodoo wisdom behind such finesse as a 47-degree vs. a 45-degree cut. They tidied the work area daily and did a thorough debris collection and disposal at the end. It's always a relief to experience quality, detail-oriented work on one's house.

I'm providing a disclaimer here that Alex and his team did do a very good job replacing the seven…read more30+ year old windows in my 90's house in Vancouver with much better Simonton. But I do need to point out some glaring details about this project as a note to myself more than anyone else before hiring this company. I first reached out to them in November last year and Manuel responded back very promptly using the odd messaging system Yelp uses. We traded a few messages, and Justin came out not long after to do a survey on the broken window in the bathroom which looked like it had been hit with a BB or a bullet. He gave me an estimate on replacing that window but pointed out that a lot of my other windows either had a lot of condensation build-up and/or mold beginning to grow out of the dampness. I ended up making the executive call to replace them all. It was a perfectly enjoyable hour or two discussing and then finishing up paperwork. He said he'd be in touch in about 4 - 6 weeks and left. That's where communication on an unprompted basis ended. I waited for almost 2 months before I picked up on the old Yelp thread because no one ever reached out during that period. Manuel told me twice he'd get back to me, but he never did. Someone named Skylar called me and told me Manuel had left on family leave. What kind of professional leaves his customers without notifying them that they are being handed to another representative? Then Skylar handed me off to Luke and despite my request to give me a heads up so I could let my work know if I needed to be home, he never confirmed anything. A third party delivery service showed up while I was sleeping and I had to clear out my garage so they had room. Then half an hour later Alex and his team showed up to start installing. I'm lucky my job was flexible enough to take me not coming in that week, but for other customers, do they have that kind of agility? It took them two days total to do the main job and then finish. After that Alex showed me the work and I signed a paper that he said was more for his team (I do a lot of projects for work and I'm pretty sure they were contractors for ASW). After that Luke said he had to do a walk for job completion that was never followed up on. I called him as promised and he said he'd get back to me, but he didn't. Then came the Docusign asking me to verify the job walk was done. I didn't sign it, thinking he had to do his walk. This was a $20k job. This is the first house I've ever owned. I wanted to be sure. He then said the job walk was done and I signed off on the work which meant the paper I signed with Alex was the final sign off, but he could have just explained this and saved us an email thread. One final laughable detail is his email to me didn't have an attachment, so his marketing team had to send me the photo he referenced to verify I signed. All in all, this whole process left me feeling like I was an inconvenience to them rather than a customer. The plus side: The windows look great. They reduce outside temperature and noise at a noticeable level. But ASW is just the coordinator. Other companies manufacture the windows, deliver them and install them. The one thing they should excel at is communication with the customer, but they decidedly don't.

They resided my entire house (after another company did an awful job that resulted in water damage) and replaced several windows and installed a cedar soffit. Communication could use improvement, and I would not recommend them to replace any exterior doors (their bid was insanely high). There were a few issues along the way (damaged meter box, dented gutter) that I wish would have been brought to my attention, but everything was addressed and in the end the crew went above and beyond to make me happy. They did an excellent job installing a beautiful cedar soffit, which is now my favorite part of my house.

The renovation was complicated by wood beams which needed to be kept product and paint free. J&R spent much of the first day on prep work (plastic sheeting to confine dust, floor coverings, tons of taping) which really paid off. We had three different major projects to get bids upon and Julio was one of the several construction company representatives who responded to our calls. He was on time for our in home meeting and impressed us with his attention to detail while considering the work and materials needed to complete the jobs. Julio was able to give us a comprehensive bid on each of the projects (flooring, siding and construction of an external awning/sun shade) detailing a prospective time schedule if we chose to hire his company. He was also able to offer us a discount if we decided to hire his company to complete all of the projects. This made good sense to us as it would save confusion in resources like dumpsters, vehicle parking, porta potties, ETC if we had different entities working at the same time. The work contract was easy to understand and there were no surprises throughout the whole process. Julio also provided all the necessary legal documents to show he had proper licensing and insurance for his company and workers. All the individual workers who Julio sent to our home were professional, courteous and efficient. The building supplies were ordered properly and we were promptly notified about the impending deliveries The demolition and removal of our old poor quality siding was done quickly and skillfully and at the end of every workday, the workers cleaned every bit of scrap and all the sharp nails and pieces of wood that would have been a hazard to us and out pets. The siding crew that wrapped our stripped house was great and the crew that cut and attached the Hardie board siding was amazing in their skillful technique. The painters did an excellent job and got everything right, down to the smallest of details. The awning project was initially not what my wife expected but Julio quickly understood and directed his crew to make the necessary improvements getting it just right. The same work ethic and and attention to detail was applied to the removal of our old, worn-out and stinky downstairs carpeting. After stripping the floors bare, the cement was leveled and prepped for the tile we had chosen from the business that Julio had recommended. The relatively big area was tiled, sealed and new baseboard was attached. During the entire renovation project, Julio was in constant contact with us and he was onsite at least once if not several times a day while the workers were present. The payment plan was clear and simple with no unexpected surprises at the end. I would highly recommend J&R NW Construction for anyone considering a construction or renovation project in the Portland area and would definitely hire the company again for any future projects.

Realizing I wanted to replace all the windows and patio doors, I delayed a year and contacted Frank when I was ready. First of all, Frank is a joy to work with. He was always communicative, prompt and friendly. He offered for us to come out to the showroom and see the windows and doors in person. I went with the Milgard Trinsic Windows and Doors. Second, the install team was excellent. Every day, they arrived on time and hit the ground running. Having a number of contractors for projects over the past 5 years, this team has been the best. I moved out of the house during the project, but I stopped by daily and everything was always cleaned up and in order. Third, I really appreciated the effort and thoroughness on the last day of cleaning the exterior and especially the interior of the house. The team takes great pride in their work and you can tell that is 100% employee owned. If I had to say there was a down side, its you may be in for a wait when placing your order because their work is in high demand (the first year quote, I would have had to wait 4-5 months). Finally, the windows and doors are beautiful. What a difference this made in regards to temperature, sound, and clarity. Not to mention, the ease at using the doors and the contemporary narrow frame modernized our home. We could not be happier.

One of them was damaged(I wouldn't have noticed). They installed it, ordered another window, and replaced the damaged one when the new one arrived at no charge to me. I love the windows. They are energy efficient and let in so much light!

J&J Roofing & Construction

I'm not sure how this company has 5 star reviews as my experience with J&J Roofing was terrible…read more February 2026, we discovered significant mold in our attic space. Our roof was brand new when we bought it (2019) and to discover ventilation issues inside our attic was a surprise no-one wants. We reached out to multiple roofing companies and we selected J&J Roofing because they promised everything the other companies offered but for about 15% less... or so they claimed. We needed to have an entire reroof which included one layer of plywood to be removed, this is the layer that had the mold. On the quote they said it would cost more IF there were two layers but it was obvious there was only one. Plus the other 4 companies that quoted us said there was only one layer. Also, they almost left the entire layer of molded plywood on. Thankfully my husband was home to catch this serious error which defeated the whole point of why we were reroofing our house in the first place. Then to add insult they tried to charge us at the end for 2 layers. We had to dispute this and they tried to make it seem like they were doing us a favor. Ironically, another roofing company that had quoted us included photos and video which proofed we only had one layer. The quote presented was DECEIVING as when we got the actual bill (after the work was done) it was significantly more than the quote. On some line items it had the tax included, however, they made it seem taxes were included in the quote only to find out that was not that case. This is how they make it seem that they're less than competitors. Here is where the real problems begin. Day of demo the team arrives and are extremely quick about tearing our roof off. However their speed caused A LOT OF DAMAGE. When they tore off the fascia it ripped the underside of the exterior under hangs. See pics. In addition they left significant gaps from the fascia they replaced which is an invitation for bugs and small animals to get inside. An issue we didn't have before. On demo day I watched them cause this damage and although we were told we would have a project manager onsite during the reroof this was not true. The PM was 90% of the time NOT on site. In addition when he came and had the fascia boards they were a cream color. They were supposed to be white. To my face this man lied to me and said they don't come in white. I rushed and got my paint sprayer while my husband ran and got white exterior paint. We quickly got the fascia boards painted and thankfully it was a clear sunny day so it was dried in time for the crew to put up. We also noticed when the roof was off that some of the boards framing our roof were rotted. I asked a crew member as the PM wasn't there if they were going to replace them and they told me yes. Another lie. As they started putting the plywood on, my husband and I noticed the rotted wood was still there and that they "sister-boarded" a new piece of cut wood. I had to call the manager Courtney to come as at this point, my confidence in the crew was gone. They left broken screens and a bunch of nails and screws all around our property. In addition to garbage from the roof packaging. Lastly the PM never came when the work was done to identify areas that needed to be fixed. See pics. We had to call J&J to get someone out and look at all the poor workmanship their crew left. Then they tried to make it seem like it was like that before but it was obvious the damage was caused by their crew. I regret choosing J&J and do not recommend.

They were having a February special which enabled us to get $1,000 off and we jumped on that deal. With the $1,000 savings we were able to get the upgraded roof option that received fantastic reviews online. Working with Courtney at the office to get us scheduled was a breeze. She asked what color roof we wanted, and since it was difficult to make that decision just by looking a photos, Brandon came back out with a couple of color samples that day so we could see what they looked like up against our house. The J&J crew came out the following Friday morning and completed our roof in ONE DAY. Granted, our roof was probably more simplistic than some others, but we were blown away by how quickly they completed it, and they did a fantastic job. Our new roof looks wonderful! Before they started working, they covered everything that was close to the roof, and they cleaned up impeccably before they left. I was thrilled to have found a woman-owned roofing company that had such fabulous reviews on Yelp, and I'm happy to add one more. I highly recommend J&J Roofing if you need a roof replacement.

Their employees were hard-working, respectful, and fun - we enjoyed interacting with each of them while they were doing their work, from the design consultant to the installers, and the new windows look wonderful. We have a front door that needs replacement soon, and I definitely know who I will call when we're ready for that project!

My home is a small 1924 Craftsman syle bungalow in close-in NE Portland. The old roof was torn off and replaced by Clow. The poor communication, poor decision-making skills, and lack of honesty pale in comparison to the poor quality of work of this roofing crew and company. It is unfortunate that Clow was used for this job because I am a friend of the owner's son and would much rather speak highly of them; however, it will be costly and time-consuming to make all of the necessary repairs following their damage, so it is simply impossible for me to write a good review. The following is some of the damage that occurred: -The crew arrived several days after they indicated they would, unannounced that morning. Communication was poor throughout the several days they were on site (July 31 - June 10 including 13 hours on one Saturday June 1st.) -All of the tongue and groove wood was removed from my eaves without evidence of it all being rotten. -Tongue and groove decorative wood was replaced with $9 per sheet plywood that was replaced haphazardly with poor cuts, random sized pieces, daylight shining between some boards, and at least one place with roofing felt coming through. -The ceiling of my attic room was stepped through in one location and punched through in another leaving holes roughly 4 and 6 sq ft big - the Crew Lead informed me these fell in on their own, no fault of theirs and that hopefully I would not be charged by the company for the repairs. -A 7 ft tall ornamental maple was crushed under the tear off debris - it was duct taped back together. -The knob and tube power was overloaded throwing a breaker on the first day, this was not communicated so no one was asked to return home to flip the breaker back on; instead the refrigerator was out for approximately 8 hours. Following two days of abuse to the electrical system, it was stated that the crew would use a generator from that point forward; they did not keep their word. -All of the shingles for the entire roof were stacked onto an 8 ft x 8 ft flat dormer causing structural damage and a cave in of the interior further damaging the dry wall in the upstairs attic room. This has also impacted an electrical line (knob and tube) and the roof above the dormer is now concave and will therefore collect water. -The exhaust fan venting moisture from the bathroom which formerly vented through the roof was re-routed to vent into the crawl space. -Gutters were cut and downspouts crumpled. -The new vents along the roof line were installed crookedly. -Decorative Craftsman style exterior touches to my home have been damaged and are falling away from the structure. -When the Foreman inspected the quality of work by the Crew Lead, he observed many items that would require removal and replacement - a representative of Clow informed me that some of the shingles were the wrong color (which was no fault of mine so I would not be required to pay for that.) However, it was evident that a valley had been placed improperly. The valley was removed and replaced among other repairs completed following their inspection of their own work. Unfortunately, the valleys are still not properly aligned despite removing and replacing one of them. Luckily, the Foreman did re-route the bathroom exhaust fan to go through the roof while he was assisting in the other repairs. -There has been no communication from Clow since the remainder of their tools were removed from the site one week ago. At this point, it is time to meet with carpenters, electricians, dry wall finishers, painters, gardeners and more to make attempts at repairing the damages - time and expenses that were not budgeted for this project. I would have much preferred a better experience, especially from a company with whom I am acquainted with a family member and that was recommended by friends who used them in the past. read more

Very satisfied with Clow Roofing. I had purchased a home and during the inspection I was told the flashing / gasket around a vent pipe might be letting in water. I had called two other roofing contractors, one couldn't make it for 2 weeks, the other kept pushing back when they could come out. I asked one of my neighbors for a reccomendation, and they suggested Jeff at Clow Roofing. I called Clow and talked to Jeff. He made time to come out that day and look at my roof. Jeff took the time to show me what part needed to be fixed. We backed up into the street and he explained the gasket and possible causes for its failure. He gave me a timeline for getting the repair done. I didn't feel pressure to accept his recommended fix or that my job was too small. I felt Jeff cared about my concerns and gave me an honest opinion. I told Jeff I would like to go ahead with the repair. I would suggest Clow to my neighbors and to my family and if I have any future roofing needs I will call them first. read more

Clow Roofing went above and beyond with our new roof. Most people are concerned primarily with price. Their pricing was very competitive and allowed us to upgrade and purchase a higher quality roof than we would have been able to get elsewhere. Other people are concerned with cleanup after the roof is installed. Cleanup was done each day and was done very well. The roof itself was installed with attention to detail. We are delighted with it. Our utmost compliments to our roofer - Manuel. He is outstanding. He is very personable, hard working, and conscientious. It is obvious that he has a talent for the work. I found a roof vent cover sitting on the side of my home. After a little recon'ing, I felt it…read moreprobably came off my neighbor's house, but wanted to be sure. One company flat out told me they couldn't help me as they only do roof replacements; another wanted to charge me ridiculous money to just come look at my roof, indicating that it would cost me additional if they needed to re-attach or replace the vent cover. Tom from JnR called me after I had provided them with my location and phone number. He gave me an estimate of when he would arrive, and arrived on time. Without hesitation, he took a look at my roof and pointed out that the cover came from my neighbor's home. He even showed me how I could see the missing vent from the sidewalk. When he was done, he told me my roof was fine and still had lots of life left. I asked him how much I owed him, and he charged me nothing! To prevent problems others have had I had the vents replaced by Cooper Mountain. I called for an inspection and they promptly showed up and took pictures to show me the imminent failure. While it took a few days for the quote, it was a fair bit less than what others in my neighborhood have paid for the same repairs. We got on the schedule and they came out and fixed us up quickly. The builder also put in a vent with no connection to anything. The repairman showed me and went into the attic space to confirm that nothing was amiss. This is the second time I've used Cooper Mountain (roof replacement on prior residence) and I would totally recommend and use again when the time comes.

When I wanted to add ventilation to my roof, every other roofing company simply wanted to sell me a new roof, which I didn't need. Casey worked with me to create a custom solution that involved ridge venting and bird blocks to create the airflow needed on my duplex, without having to replace the roof. Once we agreed on a design, the install was done in 2 days, which is mind blowing considering there was over 100 feet of ridge vent and about 36 bird block vents. Casey came back to the property after the install to check the work which I greatly appreciate and I feel really shows the professionalism of this company. I will only be using Cooper Mountain for any roofing needs.

A few hiccups along the way (blasting music at 3am from their truck parked in my driveway, I stepped on on of their roofing nails (ouch!), and this oddity in the upper rain gutter where it unnecessarily slants making it look horrible. I realize gutters need to slope to drain water, but this one is extreme and looks stupid). Would I recommend these guys? Maybe. Update: Clear Vision finally sent a crew out to fix the small section of rain gutter with the unusual slant. So kudos to them for following up albeit weeks later. (BTW, I also asked for a bid to paint my house : they provided a dollar quote but didn't send anyone to talk to me about what I needs or what service they would provide. To say the least, they didn't paint my house.)

I am a person who takes my time gathering information and educating myself before making any huge…read moredecisions because, as a widow, I find I have more time than money and I need to know that I am making the right decision. Over the last few years, I have known I needed to get a new roof, yet the funds weren't there. I had several roofing companies come out to my home for bids over a span of 4 years. 0ne company only did a satellite inspection of my roof, others came and inspected my attic, yet never went onto my roof, and 3 performed a full in person inspection in my attic and on my roof. I ended up choosing Roof and Nails for many reasons. David was my sales representative and first contact with this company, and he was very thorough in his inspection and in helping me understand all the steps this company would take in providing a great quality roof. Other companies also thoroughly explained the process, yet I feel Roof & Nails provides great quality, more protection, at an affordable rate. Through this entire process and before getting my new roof , I have watched how neighbors on both sides and across the street have received new roofs, yet they weren't given the superior quality I ended up getting and they paid the same or more for a 20 yr roof than my now 50 year roof. The material was dropped off on a Thursday and work started a few days later. At this point, Johnathan was my contact person for this project. Communication was great and he took care of everything. Johnathan has a professional crew who are great, hardworking and respectful. They also cleaned up very well afterwards. I have documented pictures of each step in putting together my roof. They even permanently added four OSHA compliant safety lifeline anchors for any future roof-related workers to use. None of my neighbors received these anchors with their new roofs. Last, yet not least, I feel I have come to know David and Johnathan better as individuals. They are good, honest, and down-to-earth family guys. I can't say that of all the companies I interacted with. This is something I considered when choosing a company. How are they as people, how do they treat their employees? This fact may not be important to others, yet It's important to me. I am confident I made the best choice in hiring Roof & Nail Company to take care of my roofing needs.They gave me a superior quality roof at a fair, not overinflated, price. The price was about right, they came out quickly and finished the job in about 4 days. The PM said everything was cleaned and the crew left. I went outside to check and found over 100 roofing nails scattered around my entire house. I used my own rolling magnet to get as many as I could, asked the PM to send a crew back and they did. After the 2nd pass by the crew, I took my magnet bar again and found another 20+ nails. I called the PM again, they sent someone again and I thought it was done. 3 months later I just stepped on a half inch roofing nail, and had to get a tetanus shot because of the laziness / low quality clean up.
