We went for a band and the bartender was very nice but she was overwhelmed with the number of people there. Tip is to go next door to Pig Iron for your drinks if the bar is too crowded at Club Car Bar. Sound system is very advanced. Nice folks working and patronizing. Order food before 8:00 (comes from Pig Iron). Plenty of street parking. A cute local spot in the former AJ Spurs (still has the safe - cool!) as well as a former post office and saddlery. Love the space, love the vibes. Cocktails were $13 - not too bad for top shelf. read more

The family and I were staying in Templeton for a few nights and yesterday the Mrs. decided she wanted to go for a walk. We had never stayed in Templeton. We usually just drive right through it because to the naked eye there really isn't much going on. There are a few restaurants such as the venerable McPhee's Grill. Walking through Templeton was eye opening. Yes, it is a sleepy two horse town but it has a lot going on. We arrived at our ultimate destination which was Club Car Bar. A cocktail bar and music venue. I guess it would be considered a honky-tonk. It was shortly before 5(I think) when we walked. Eric greeted us from behind the bar and we took a seat. Eric gave us a drink menu but we decided to stick with our go to drinks. I ordered a Maker's Mark Manhattan and the Mrs. ordered a Gin martini. Bombay Sapphire wasn't available so Eric suggested St. George Gin which I was somewhat familiar with. Both drinks were incredible. There is something to be said when you get drinks at a cocktail bar versus a regular bar. A lot more time and care goes into the drinks. It's not just pouring booze its chemistry. While we were enjoying our first round, Eric told us the history of the place. The murals that adorn the walls were painted in 1977. They depict scenes of the Old West. At one point the Cable Car Bar was a steakhouse which closed many years ago. Looking around I could totally see the place being a steakhouse. As we were enjoying our drinks and other patrons joined us, Eric shared some of the books that he had behind the bar that reference cocktail making and the history behind it. He was sharing his passion for the craft with us and we appreciated it. Eric asked if we wanted a second round which we naturally said yes to. He then asked if I wanted to try a Vieux Carre. Which I had never heard of. The best way to describe it is a New Orleans version of a Manhattan. Just more of a party in the glass. Eric shared the history of the cocktail and about his time bartending in NOLA. We had just visited New Orleans in March and the Vieux Carre I was drinking made me want to hop on a plane and be in NOLA by morning. The Cable Car bar does not provide table service. You have to belly up to the bar like any decent cowboy or cowgirl would. Food is offered and from the few things we saw being brought in it looked good. The food comes from the restaurant next door, Pig Iron, which the restaurant had of the operation. If you're ever in Templeton, drive slowly or walk. No matter what you need to stop at the Club Car Bar.....just do it after 4 p.m. when they open. read more

This is a pretty cool spot in Templeton. The vibe of the place is mixture of classy bar with a bit of dive bar feel, which I like. The drinks were great and so was the service. Can't wait to come back when they have an act on the stage. read more

The lady bartender was rude On Saturday. They were out of Michelob ultra. They told my son they didn't have his debit card even tho he started a tab. His girlfriend later went to the bar and ended up getting card that they actually had. My experience wasn't a good one and I don't plan on returning anytime soon. If they want customers they better change their attitudes. read more

Came for the live music Friday night. Came with three adults and one toddler. He was quiet holding my hand and the second we walked up to the bar no welcome, no what can I get you. Just if you're going to have your toddler in here you need to keep him with you the whole time... so unwelcoming the flyer for music says all ages welcome. Typically that includes children. We left before the music started. Didn't want to be anywhere we weren't welcome. read more

Great bar, cool decor, drinks were good (we did need to give drink deets to bartender, but that's not the prob). The problem was the bartender - it wasn't busy, but she (young blonde) didn't want to serve me (the DD) a large glass of water. There is a water dispenser at the end of the bar (with approx 3 oz plastic cups) and I requested a large glass of water, with ice. She repeatedly said: 'water is at the end of the bar' when I clearly wanted a large glass with ice. You know, to have an actual drink with my friends. We did get it from her, but it turned into a pissing match with us asking and her repeating 'it's at the end of the bar'. I would be much more understanding if it was slammin' busy. It wasn't. She had a bar back and another guy coming on the shift. She just was rude. Never thanked us, didn't greet us, and she was just rude. Someone else left the same type of review (of her and the bar) on the same night, so it wasn't just us who were having an issue (look to google reviews). Too bad - we were excited to go there to have a cocktail, and then onto dinner next door. We decided to go somewhere else after dealing with her. She totally ruined the vibe of the night. read more

I really was disappointed with the service. I walked into this place after having an amazing meal and service at the Pig Iron. The bartender handed me and boyfriend a menu and walked off. There wasn't a lot of people and he proceeded to say hi to friends while we sat for 5-7 minutes. I was surprised that he didn't say hello or even come back and ask what we wanted. My thought is he looked at us and thought he wasn't going to get a good tip and just ignored us. My guess is we could of sat there for another 10 minutes while he ignored us and at that point we walked out. It's one thing if it's busy and you know you're waiting but it's another reason when you're flat out being ignored. It was awkward and uncomfortable. I should of been more bold and said something but this hasn't happened to me before. My thought is this young bartender is lacking communication , customer service and needs some additional training. read more
