    Vegan Lunch
    t d.

I had no food here just a couple of drinks but I'm a fan. While waiting to get my skis waxed we decided on a liquid lunch. Is a Bloody Mary vegan? If so then I had a vegan lunch. Spicy tomato juice with generous dose of vodka and pickles. Here I found my favorite cocktail, Passionfruit Hold Up, my friend calls it the Passion Old Up, so crazy yummy, the Passionfruit flavor was intoxicating, I don't normally like sweet drinks but this was worth it. After that lunch, fresh wax on my skis & lovely Mary Jane with fresh powder, my perfect ski day.

2 draft beers for $4 with an order of an appetizer! Sure why not!? Luckily we were able to find a seat easily for apres ski at Winter Park. The Mary Jane side of the mountain is by far my favorite spot here. They have a lodge here that is quite roomy and this club car spot for an apres. I highly recommend getting the Mary Jane Ale while here. We ordered the poutine for our appetizer which was delicious! Our cheese curds were breaded and fried! That's the first I've had for that. Typically it's just cheese curds. It was a great spot to relax and hang out with some friends right after a ski day. The server was also witty and enjoyable.

Cheers! Check out how large those Bloody Marys are

It has been a year since I dined at the Club Car. I must say I was impressed with the size of the Bloody Mary. My girlfriends also said the Free Speech is a good cocktail and several of them ordered it. I ordered the burger because I was a wee bit hungover. It was so delicious with two patties, lettuce, and gooey melted cheese. I was pretty surprised how good it was and ate almost all of it. I should have shared it with a friend because it is a big lunch to have in your tummy to ski with. I will definitely come back for lunch here.

This rating is for the bartender Alicia. She is very nice and accommodating. As for the Food I would give it a 2 out of 5. I ordered buffalo wings and a few beers. Shes very attentive and enjoys converstaion with the patrons. The wings were over sauced. I suggest they use a better quality sauce or at least add thier own love to it. I can easily tell its out of a bottle. Hot Buffalo Sauce that comes in a big Jar? All you need is a little love. Thier happy hour is great I took advantage of the New Belgium Fat Tire and Mary Jane. Have to say I love the Fat tire much more. I would come back if I needed a beer and maybe a small snack.

Our whooollllly gravy fries and cheese curds!

He was not only our bartender but was also one of the owner along with Samantha who I got to meet for the first time. Everyone was so friendly and was definitely a win connoisseur. I love their happy hour from Vail. Everything was price reasonable. I love that you could get any wine for 3 ounce for half the price. That allowed me to try almost every wine on the list. Yes. And to stumble upon this chic and inconspicuous cocktail bar in the busy downtown was something I wasn't expecting and became a treat after a nice stroll through the town after dinner in my hotel room. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I was at the place where my heart was calling for. There were two gents at the bar and one of them warmly greeted me and said I could sit anywhere I would like. I hence picked one of the bar seats. Except one table that was occupied by a couple I was the only one. I appeared to have picked the right time; I had the whole bar to myself (eventually though, several different groups of people streamed in; only a few of them sat at the bar close to me. The bar was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate a little over 10 people.) Jeremy, who greeted me upon arrival, was a super host. As soon as I explained that wine is my usual got-to, he said he could mix and match reds and whites to create a "flight" based on what I had told him as to my likings. His extensive explanations as to what sorts of reds and whites the bar offers/serves was (of course) all in his memory. His eloquent speech with no filler words truly impressed me; he sure is a wine connoisseur. What he picked for me were... -2024 Pepiere "Les Gras Moutons" (Muscadet) -Kobal "Bajta", Hazole Belo (aka Orange Wine) -Sandlands "Red Table Wine (Lodi Red Blend) With his wealth of knowledge, after giving him only a hint of what I liked, what Jeremy selected for me to sample/sip was a superb choice. All of them were world-class excellence with elegance and beauty. I carefully and slowly sipped each one little by little to truly immerse myself in the art of wine. Yes, wine is a piece of art for sure. I think I said it correctly at the beginning of this review. This is a cocktail bar with variety of spirits which Jeremy could easily concoct just about anything from gin-based one to vodka-based one to tequila-based ones to whiskey-based one to name several. For those who don't drink, their zero-proof section also has something interesting to browse and choose. Not to mention, rotating pilsner or IPA on tap to name a few from the beer section as well. If you need a little bite to eat, their (changing) food menu has a good number of New American-style plates. The bar originally opened in a different building back in 2015 (I believe). They moved to the current location in 2019. They also offer various different classes so you can expand/extend your knowledge. So for your next foodie vacation in Vail, make sure to include Root & Flower in your list.

My Hogback Sour Cocktail was over the moon. Made from bourbon, lemon, simple syrup, egg white, and Cabernet float. The unique blend made a great drink. I wanted more, but held back because we were hiking later. My wife's traditional slightly dirty martini was perfectly made as well. We started with the homemade chips and dip. Nice crispy chips with beautiful fresh made onion dip. Next came the Pheasant soup. I wanted to lick the bowl clean, it was so yummy. The main course for me was the carnivore plate with elk, filet, sausage, and broccoli/shallots. The elk meat was the star on my plate. Having that next to the filet mignon allowed me to taste test them in real time. The Elk meat won hands down. Not even close in my opinion. The sausage was packed with wonderful flavors, but after a few bites overwhelmed my palette. My wife had the Creamy Potato Gnocchi Bowl. We both shared each other's dishes. She loved the Elk Meat. I really enjoyed the Gnocchi, and wished it could be a side dish to my Elk meat. Service was great with Elizabeth checking on us at the right times. Tip: Ask for the postcard and the restaurant will send it out for you after you fill it out. Tip: the restaurant fills up quickly, so call ahead and get a reservation.
