    The Ditch Burger*

Casual spot! Good location with a patio! Great service! Feels more like a local bar than a tourist spot! Everyone was happy with their food! I don't think it's gonna leave a lasting impression for me personally, but I enjoyed my meal! Felt pretty average!

The Ditch in Winter Park is one of the best burger joints we've been to in a long time. It's the quintessential mountain town spot that serves comfort food, good beer and solid margaritas. How can a joint with autographed dollar bills stapled to the walls and ceiling not be a hot spot during a ski vacation. The green chile cheeseburgers were delicious and the Margaritas were big and tasty. We loved the Tajin rim. If you're ever in Winter Park you have to check them out. They're right on 40 so you can't miss it. Salute @thejohnnycocktail

This restaurant/bar is located on the second floor. There's inside or outside dining with a large " STOP" sign at the front so they can seat you. The interior ceiling is COVERED in money signed by various patrons! I loved the Zia symbols and UNM decorations! There's even a NM State flag hung outside on the deck along with a Colorado state flag! Nice touch! We were told, when we entered, that they are known for their margaritas. Unfortunately, neither Jon or I drink much so we didn't order one. There was, however, a couple who came in JUST for margaritas, so THERES THAT endorsement! LOL Jon ordered Maria's chili relleno plate while I ordered their Taste of New Mexico! (Cheese stuffed chili relleno , beef burrito and chicken taco). You can order your meal with hatch green chili, hatch red chili or BOTH (which they term CHRISTMAS!). Wow! We were not disappointed! I was, however, surprised that I preferred their hatch red chili! (I'm normally more a green chili gal ) Lovely meal and a nice memory jogger of my 20 years living in Albuquerque NM!

The Ditch Burger ~ Beyond patty option ~ delicious with the green chiles

After a day at Hot Sulphur Springs, heading back to Denver, and decided to stop in for a first visit in the 12 years I've been doing this trip - to check it out. Love the simple, laid back vibe here - as you walk up a flight of stairs to the bar/restaurant and are greeted by a waist high gate advising not to come through until directed to. Didn't stand for long before we were greeted and take to our table. Our server was great - friendly and helpful with beer selections as well as patient as I took time to land on my dinner choice. The Ditch is very clearly a popular place as locals came in and came through the gate as they were chatting with the crew - no need to wait when everybody knows your name, right? The menu had a few options for me as a vegetarian, and I did have to take a few minutes to decide between this burger and the veggie burrito - it's always nice when that decision is hard to make when options are limited. Orders came out quickly and, just look at that burger prep and wrap job! Chefs kiss perfection! And, the onion rings? Also perfection. Really, really, well made burger and the green chiles finished it off so well. I appreciate that it was big but not overly huge or sloppy at all. Thoroughly enjoyed everything and am only sorry I didn't stop in years ago! I'll be back to try that veg burrito soon ~

You come to The Ditch for freshly made maragaritas! They are the best margs in town! It was a busy Spring Break when we arrive and a perfect day to sit on the patio and order a marg. The staff was slammed but they were friendly and welcoming. We took a seat at the bar and we always order burgers. For the first time ever we tried the New Mexico side of the menu and ordered their huge burrito with the chile relleno inside with steak. It is like a Cali Burrito New Mexico style adding french fries on top and green chili. It was very creative and delicious. They don't skimp on the steak and it was high quality meat. I think it was called the Ultimate. Yes it pairs nicely with a margarita too. It's hard decision to order the Ditch Burger or something on the Mexican side. I guess we need to keep coming back to try new things. I recommend The Ditch when you are hungry in Winter Park.

Came here after a day of xcountry skiing with friends. We arrived at 3:30pm on a Sunday and took one of the two open tables. Got served right away and the price seemed reasonable for the food and the area. All I can say is tater tots. Hot. Crisp. Fresh. Salty. We had some drinks. We had burgers. Sodas. $90 for 4 people. The Bitch and the Ditch were both yummy. Upgrade fries for tots or rings or sweet potato fries. All seem tasty. Food came so fast and tasted so good. The ambience is definitely sports bar with thousands of $1 bills taped all over the walls. Seems to be a thing.

I walk into a restaurant and I hear "Blister in the Sun" by Violent Femmes. Is this a punk concert? Is this heaven? I want to sprint up the stairs and run around the restaurant screaming the lyrics like a freak. But I won't and I didn't!! The Sausage family dines at the beautiful The Ditch on 40. Tonight we celebrate the marital union of Sporty and Spicy Sausage! 11 of us saunter into the upstairs diner like a Mormon family traveling in Tokyo. Immediately, the euphoria of one dollars bills and license plates surround us like the innumerable stars in the sky. Every George Washington has a message - a gamma ray blast from a distant solar body. Humanity engulfs me here in remembrance of all the Sausage family that preceeds me but I will never meet. I am home. While we peruse our menus like a wizard and their orb, our server dances over to greet us. Slippery Sausage notes, "She brings the vibration, she brings the party. If she was my roommate, I'd ask her to turn the volume down while I'm sleeping." All too true - I kept "raising the roof" because her energy was too infectious. Someone add a dance floor asap! We order drinks and the Trio to share. For the Trio, Krispy remarks, "Warm chips is a move. I never dream about warm chips, but if I did they'd be like this." Among our drink orders are rim-variations on the house margarita and beers. Susie and Beaky slurp their spicy margs with delight and the promise of knowing that their "insides will be totally fine." Pumpy sighs after her first sip, "The drink is well described. You ever had a skunky hose? It's in my nightmare." Beaky has ordered the Murphy. "The burrito is the size of a small baby. At first the chili relleno was hiding, but I found it. Finally - there it is! Like a Murphy bed." Grumpy's perspective on The Philly is also thoughtfully bed-oriented. "You can't go wrong with hatch chili on a Philly. I eat a lot of Philly's - nothing better. The texture is like a sturdy bedframe with a soft mattress interior." Krispy is overwhelmed by the size of her Ultimo. "it is... Too much for me. The green chili smother is my favorite part - it's sloppy, let's be real. It's a sloppy throw about like that dance floor make out." Slippery adds for his Ultimo, "the burrito is suffocating. It's become anaerobic." Thumana chomps and tears at his Myers Special. "It was one color like a green/yellow/grey. I remember it as yellow, it appears to me that way. I associate it that way. I feel yellow." Babs sings the yule-tide praises for her Chili Relleno. "I had a holly jolly time. Very Christmas - but not like Santa. It was crispy, he was not. It would be crispy like Santa in the sun. It touched my beans." The power couple of Spicy and Sporty feed each other bites of Veggie Burrito like Lady and the Tramp, kissing with each bite. "Massive... Couldn't do the green chili because of pork. A bite with everything in it was nourishing." Pumpy has a five-alarm fire spouting out her mouth like a dragon! "Spicy! Needed accompaniment of sour cream for white girls that don't handle spice. Pinto beans cooked to perfection. Sloppier than expected, but sloppy I could handle." Before we leave, we must staple our own dollar bill onto the wall. It... Takes us a while to figure out the stapler. Sporty is pleased to report, "They had a whole technology support team that was incredible." We PROMISE we are not 11 big dummies that couldn't figure out a stapler! When was the last time you gazed into the starlit night sky? Was it familiar or foreign? Did it excite you? Sexually? It doesn't matter. You were stardust before and will someday be stardust again. Just like George Washington turned into all the one dollar bills that wink at you with delight during your delicious dining. Thank you Flying Ditchman on 40! We'll be back.

A must stop in Winter Park! This bar had the best local vibe with the friendliest bartenders and servers. The food was next level - the cheese and green chilis were a great compliment to any dish on the menu. They have an extensive beer list with good cocktails. Every member of your family is sure to find something they like here.

It was 22 degree and snowing on the side of a mountain, we need HOT soup! My advice to get to five stars: bump up the heat on those soups and serve some cornbread with the soup. This place does an incredible job cos-playing Yellowstone while completely ripping you off with a smile. It's a rustic-chic facade designed to distract you from the fact that the kitchen is operating at a high school cafeteria level. If you're going to charge "Wagyu" prices, you shouldn't be serving a steak that is bone-dry and flavorless. The rosemary potatoes had zero hint of herbs, and the broccolini inexplicably tasted like fish--a massive red flag for kitchen cross-contamination. To cap off the "fine dining" experience, our dessert arrived at the table still frozen in the center. It's clear nothing here is actually made in-house. Beyond the culinary failures, the bill was a mess. They conveniently "forgot" to honor their own Wednesday special ($50 off a $100+ bottle of wine). When you're spending over half a grand on a meal, you shouldn't have to audit the check for basic math and promised discounts. The only reason I didn't make a scene at the table was out of respect for our server, Bill, who was professional and hardworking. It's a shame the management and the "chefs" are hiding behind their front-of-house staff while running a total grift in the back. All hat, no cattle. Save your $600 and go literally anywhere else that actually knows how to thaw a dessert and season a potato.
