Me and my family came here and ordered a variety of different things. My wife and I got the shrimp appetizer and it was fantastic. Easy access on the resort. The staff was really friendly. But Nails should not have dirt under them. After cleaning up a spill on the ground, you have to wash your hands before going back to work. Winter Park Resort is teeny so food options are slim, especially during the summer. Vertical provides a broader menu than most of the competitors and the offerings are really good. The Colorado Elk Chili is delicious and hits the spot as you would hope on a cold day in June. The spinach ravioli is so rich and filling, it feels like dessert. So, you will feel no virtue for ordering something with spinach in it. A bar acquaintance enjoyed the baked avocado and I regret leaving before trying it myself. As desserts go, the ricotta cheesecake is scrumptious. The ambiance is very ski lodge as one would expect, with a good sized bar to eat/drink at. The happy hour offers significant savings. I was lucky enough to overlap with Todd the bartender for a couple nights and he was delightful to talk with and a great source of information about local hiking and biking trails. The best restaurant in the resort. Don't bother trying any of the cafeterias on the mountain. Im not joking, our lunch bill for 7 people (4 adults,3 kids) was sub $200 (before tip), we had drinks too. If you risk having anything on the mountain you will pay over $30 for one burger one fries and a water. The food on the mountain is trash. My only disappointment is that we tried vertical tap on day 4 of our trip. We plan on having the next 4 meals here. It is worth the short walk from the gondola. Went to vertical tonight, sat down at a sticky table ordered their house made meatballs as a starter. And then proceeded to wait over 30 minutes. No one came back to take our order. We pointed it out 3 times and finally ask the waiter when our meatballs showed up. He assured us he would be right back but did not return, the bartender who was stationed near our table told us he would take our order but never did. On top or that the "house made" meatball were clearly frozen out of a bag, not great. We never got to even order entrées. After being there for close to an hour we gave up and left. This place sucks. Our waiter was extremely friendly and cheerful, the only complaint is that the vertical burger we ordered was well-well done and dry which ruined it. Our party of 4 had a great Apres ski dinner and drinks at the Vertical Bistro and Tap. Our food was on target and the Colorado Green Chili is "to-die-for" whether solo or added to other dishes. The burgers were cooked to order and the drinks tasty! Jen, the manager, was friendly, welcoming, and obviously runs a tight ship. We have not been to Vertical for a couple of years because of a few bad experiences with both service and food. Recently (November 2025) we popped in for a drink and a snack because I had read recent good reviews and a suggestion that the restaurant is under new management. We had a great experience this time! We were greeted and seated promptly, Cristina our waitress was very attentive and professional. A number of staff members checked on us throughout the course of our stay, but were not pushy. We were there mid afternoon, so it was not crowded and we shared one appetizer, we had the meatballs with a horseradish cream sauce - delicious! Drinks came out quickly and food shortly thereafter. Waters were refilled when necessary. The location can't be beat for us as we stay across the street in the village when we are in Winter Park. I'm very happy with the improvements from the last times we tried Vertical and look forward to frequenting the restaurant again. read more

We were a party of 14. When we arrived, the host told us we could not occupy more than 2 tables. We asked to speak to the manager, Jen, who was very professional and squeezed 7 of us at each table. The service was very slow even though the restaurant was not busy. When our food finally arrived, it was very good. My wife and I had a very nice evening at Vertical after a day of skiing. Cleaned up and returned (so not "right off the slopes"), and it wasn't particularly crowded (Thursday about 4:30), but we were still in time for Happy Hour and easily found a seat at the bar. We ended up with a glass of wine, a salad, and the Elk dinner - excellent options. The food was very well prepared, and the wine selection was good enough for us. First trip up to Winter Park and it was a fine summer day. After a full day of hiking and a couple hours in the hot tub, it was time to grab some dinner (we were staying at the hotel right on main st. and wanted to go somewhere in walking distance). Most places in the main courtyard were closed or just didn't have much going on so we came here. We sat at the high tops and the gal serving us was very nice. Ordered the shrimp tacos which were good. We arrived about 7:15 on a Thursday. The waiter, who was the only good part of our experience, immediately informed us (with great pain and regret) that roughly 3/4 of the menu was unavailable. No Elk Chili, no Elk Filet, no mushroom ravioli, no steak, and no veggie risotto. Also, the Swedish meatball appetizer was being prepared Italian style (I.e., with marinara and Parmesan). The excuse was that a shipment had not arrived from Denver, however all roads were clear and open on Wednesday (regular delivery day) and Thursday. Poor planning not to have enough of your most popular dishes in stock to withstand a short supply disruption. On top of all that disappointment, the only two main courses left (salmon and chicken) could not be prepared as listed on the menu since the restaurant was out of risotto (see no veggie risotto above) for the salmon and out of polenta for the chicken. The waiter offered to substitute mashed potato's for the risotto and pasta for the polenta. However, the mashed potatoes were terrible (confirmed by our waiter) and the "chicken" that was supposed to be the feature of my main course looked more like a naked chicken nugget (direct quote from waiter: "that's the smallest piece of chicken I've ever seen"). Oh, and my chicken was delayed by 15 minutes because the kitchen dropped it in the floor as it was being plated. To his credit, the waiter comped my chicken and took half off the salmon price. But I cannot recommend this restaurant...how can they not be prepared with enough food that they run out of most of their entrees by 7pm? Again, kudos to our waiter who moderately salvaged an otherwise awful dining experience. read more

We ordered the chili (Luke warm and ok) the baked avocado (interesting and tasty) and the poke (delicious).
