I wasn't going to write a review, but my email exchange with my fitter just pushed me to do so. I've been here twice now -- I had a great experience 3 years ago, and a mediocre (at best) experience this last time. My fitter was checking his phone frequently, and put some decent effort and thought in to the iron fitting and then really just couldn't be bothered when we got to hybrids. Then of course.... the pricing. It was through the roof, and accompanied with a hard sales pitch. The fact that I said "I'd go home and check out the prices and get back to him" was answered with "what else are you going to do?". Then he went in to telling me that ordering from them would be way faster (false -- I got a better delivery time through alternate means) and that if I order from anyone but them it would be a subpar product since they put more effort in to assembly (maybe? But seems marginal) Well I went home and to check out the prices online, and club champion's pricing was nearly 30% higher than what even a cursory look online showed. So I asked my club pro to price it out, it was also 2/3 of the price club champion price, so I gave him the business. When the fitter from club champion followed up via e-mail to ask me if I was ready to purchase, I politely told him I got a better price elsewhere. And he saltily replied "you should have told me and I could have tried to match the price." Maybe club champion should focus on showing their best price, instead of egregious prices with a high pressure sales pitch? Why should I be expected to haggle? TLDR: the fitting was good (not great), but the high pressure sales tactics and rip off culture will make this my last fitting with club champion. read more

I'm a weekend golfer that doesn't take the game too seriously. I bought a beginner golf club set several years ago and thought it was time to get clubs that actually fit me since I'm short. Even though I'm not great, I took the plunge and scheduled a full bag fitting. I'll be honest I was a bit nervous because I thought I wasn't good enough for a fitting. Once at the fitting I felt completely comfortable and didn't feel like I was being judged at all. My fitter (Nick) was funny, informative, and really made me feel comfortable. I'd highly recommend the location and Nick as the fitter. The cost of the location is a bit pricey, but by no means did I feel obligated to buy all the clubs that were recommended to me and I felt completely comfortable selecting only a few clubs. read more

I'll start by saying that Scott Trent at the Club Champion - Deerfield location is an incredible club fitter. He's professional and provided great help/guidance/positivity for myself and my son. My son (11-scratch) competitive junior golfer was fitted by Scott for a new set of woods. After watching them communicate and seeing how great the experience was for my son I knew that Scott was my guy for my fitting. I was fitted for my entire bag. Both of us have been fitted twice before, not a Club Champion, and by far this was the best experience all due to Scott. He communicated incredibly well with my son to understand his game and what he was looking for to get out of his woods. Then with me (12 handicap) I put full trust that he would guide me in making the correct decisions with the irons and woods. Sure glad I am as we had great communication during my 2.5 hour fitting and picked the best clubs/set up for MY swing. I say MY swing as that was so important as Scott worked with me on what's best for MY swing and not perfect golf swing or what it should look like. He explained everything in detail through out the entire process so I could understand all of the numbers associated with the fitting. AND he worked within my budget an NEVER once tried to push more expensive clubs or shafts. Knew with that not being an issue he truly cared about fitting me for the best set of clubs that I could afford. He's also super responsive when responding to emails which is rare. I regret my entire experience with Club Champion. I'm a single digit handicap, play 100/ year and I have many friends who have had great experiences with Club Champion. I knew what I was signing up for and was really excited to get fit. But after its all said and done, totally not worth it. I did a whole bag fitting and purchased a driver and 3w. I was told it would take a month to receive the clubs and I would be kept up to date in the progress. The only email I received was a form letter explaining how Covid has disrupted supply chains. I eventually reached out to my fitter, who sent a "ha ha ha" email. Like it's really funny everyone is hassling me to get updates on their purchases. I only received accurate details when I threatened to cancel the sale. When I received the clubs, of course I went straight to the range. Without even hitting a ball, there was something rattling in the head and shaft of both the driver and 3w. I went back to the store. They said it was was just loose glue and an easy fix. Maybe so, but they advertise the best club builders in the business. Sloppy work is sloppy work. I had to bring the 3w back a second time to have the rattle fixed. Anyway you slice it their pricing model is obnoxious. You pay for a full driver off the rack, then, the upgraded shaft, grip, assembly and Puring. I know the puring is BS, but considered it an up charge. Basically I pad $1000 for a $500 club. I was okay with that knowing this would be perfect match for my game. The driver is ok, but no significant improvement. This winter I joined a facility with Trackman's. I was always frustrated by my driver numbers. Swing speed 95, ball speed 142, smash 1.5 hit 3* Up, path 4* R, face 2* R spin 1700 and carry 190 yard. One of the pros at the facility was watching me hit and said somethings wrong. He gave me a driver out of their demo set. Same swing dynamics with this shaft spin 2500 and carry now 235. That's a huge difference. I was able to by the same stock shaft for $100 and now have a well fit driver. Save your money, you can get fit many other places for a lot less and have better results. Club Champion, don't bother reaching out. The bad review stays. read more

This is a revision from my last less than positive review. I was more than pleasantly surprised how quickly I received call from Mike Trapany (guessing the spelling of his last name). No more than few hours after my reviews, I received a call from Mike who wanted to know what exactly transpired, and after explaining to Mike, he wanted to get Tim & Mike (deerfield location employees who worked on my clubs) explanation, and promised to get back to me the following day. True to his words, I received a call, and Mike went above and beyond to correct the situation! Go See Mike Storti at Club Champion, Deerfield for a fitting. I just had a fitting with Mike at Club Champion, Deerfield. I did a 1.5hr iron fitting for $150. It seems like a lot of money but they are very thorough. After an initial conversation, I hit more shaft/iron combinations than I can remember. He did a great job of explaining all of the data during the entire process. Even though one brand was heads and tails above the rest for my swing, when the fitting was complete, he did not pressure me into buying the clubs from him. He gave me a fair price and upon doing me research, his price for my custom Titleist AP1's was cheaper than if I went to the PGA store or any other vendor. Mike even gives you his cell number for any questions you have once you leave. He answered a few of my questions through talk and/or text before I purchased my clubs (which I did 2 days after). I will be going back to Mike for a driver fitting later this season. read more

Alex is Great! He fitted my son with a putter and he won State that year. I came in and he fitted me with a Driver a month ago, 20 extra yards! Finally I'm back in the low 80s. I just got fitted for a putter as well, hopefully back to the 70's once it comes in. Alex is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain everything so that I understand why the club he recommends is best for me. I just completed a full bag fitting with Mike Storti. He was very patient and thorough, as we tried several shaft and clubhead combinations. I was most surprised by the putter fitting, as the putter I ended up with was nothing like the one I would have chosen on my own. I had an excellent experience with my putter fitting. Joe was very thorough and patient during the entire process. He is extremely knowledgeable and I thought it interesting that this process focuses on fitting the putter to the stroke that you already have rather than trying to change your stroke outright. I also found out that I tended to aim to the left and my eyeline was off. I would highly recommend any golfer serious about improving putting to go through this process with them. Great group to work with. I had a driver for 12 years that I loved but was getting worn out. I went in with little expectation that I could find a custom match, because I have hit all of my golfing friends drivers to no avail. Even though my driver was shorter, it felt better than anything else. The custom fitting made a big difference, and now I am just saving up for summer. read more

I am upating my first less than stellar review: After my first vist, I was pretty disappointed with what I felt was some pretty outrageous pricing. I had felt a little misled, because I thought we were simply going to tweak my current almost brand new clubs, not build new ones. I returned to the store a couple of weeks later after a friend explained to me that the quoted prices were pretty standard for custom fitting. I was still experiencing some sticker shock! I met with Tim N. again, and I agreed to move forward with just a few new irons to prove to myself that a personal fitting was worth the money. The clubs worked out fantastic and added another 10+ yards to every shot, with more control. I eventually ordered the remainder of my irons. The compromise with just the irons, no wedges or woods, worked out well for my budget. Tim was very helpful and professional and accepted my decision without putting on a full court press for me to buy a complete new set. His knowledge of matching equipment with swing was exceptional. If you are looking for a custom fitting you should go in with your eyes wide open that it is not an inexpensive excercise. My six irons were about the price of a whole off-the-shelf set. Don't go in like I did initially thinking you are hitting the local Golf Galaxy. I am very pleased with the results and it really improved my game, which is ultimately what I wanted all along. If this is what you are looking for, Club Champion is the way to go. read more

Very worthwhile for the experienced golfer. Can't comment on beginners, but I will not buy off the rack again. Their procedure made sense to me as being designed to use real results, combined with your own sense of "feel", to provide clubs that will maximize what you are capable of doing. The ability to combine shafts with different club heads is very important and the methodology is far superior to what I have experienced at GolfSmith. The "putting machine" is really neat; it caused Alex to make a quick adjustment which produced really impressive results in improving the roll of the ball. Alex (The pro who conducted the fitting) is experienced and very competent. The whole process struck me as adding a significant value and I can recommended unreservedly. read more

Let me first begin by saying that I am not a scratch golfer, and was initially concerned that a custom club fitting at Club Champion would only truly benefit those that are. Boy was I wrong! After going through a full bag fitting (driver, woods, irons, and putter) at Club Champion, I can honestly say that I will never go anywhere else. I was amazed at the level of detail my fitter (Joe Jung) went into for each club - he switched out shaft and head combinations at will to find the club with the perfect length, flex, and weight distribution for my golf swing. I think this is a key point - Joe matched the club to my swing, he didn't try to change my already developed swing to match the club. By the end of the fitting session, not only were my shots consistently straight but the ball was also carrying much further (+12-15 yards for irons and +20-25 yards for driver). These clubs will certainly lower my golf scores! Club Champion uses the Trackman technology for their fitting sessions, which is exactly what the pros on the PGA tour use. For all you golfers out there, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND visiting Club Champion and getting a set of clubs custom fit and built just for your swing. read more

I'm an extremely analytical person and appreciate the Club Champion approach that combines hard data, years of club-fitting experience, and a commitment to excellent customer service. I had a driver fitting first. After playing a number of rounds (practice would have expedited my comfort level) with the new driver, I had renewed confidence and imrpoved results. Then I did a fairway/hybrid fitting. I went back for a tune-up of the hybrids and after adjusting the lie (more upright) of each hybrid, the on-course results were terrific. I just did the iron fitting and can't wait to get and try the new irons. The process is fun. Some thinking goes into the first attempt at getting clubhead/shaft right, then you hit a few shots, review the Trackman data, adjust clubhead/shaft, hit a few more shots, analyze the data, and so forth until you get dialed into the right feel and data-driven results for you. Then the lie and length are set. I received the clubs in timely fashion as well as a commitment (made good on with the hybrids) that the club/process is not complete until you're satisfied that the club/s is/are right. It takes a little time to complete the process and you might spend more to customize shafts, but you have confidence that the clubs are tailored to you and your swing which produces confidence and results on the course. read more
