One of the best dining halls on campus! Pizzas and sandwiches are baked and made fresh to order, and although hours are early (7:30am-2pm) there are plenty of clean tables with outlets and WiFi to get some quick work done or chat with a friend. Club Med is considered one of the specialty cafes that accept dining dollars and triton cash! Students venture out here when they want to switch up the environment a bit. I've been here a few times before and I would say they are consistent in what they provide and do. I ordered: -Fall Harvest salad: dried cranberries, almonds, feta cheese, pears Pros: -good variety: good variety of sandwiches and salads to please the crowd! -good customer service: professional staff here! Always smiling! -consistent portion: pretty good amount, and consistent with everything! They don't have to weigh it because I'm assuming they are already trained in eyeballing everything. Cons: -confusing lines: there are two doors to the place, and their isn't a specific "enter" and "exit". If you want a salad, you go to the salad bar, instead of waiting in one line. Tips/Observations: -Add ins such as tuna or chicken is an additional $1 -good amount of seating indoors and outdoors! -Soups/oatmeal is right next to the open dessert bar -similar salad style as Foodworx in Sixth college. Prices increased and my favourite sandwich has changed as well! From what I remember, it was $6.95 for a sandwich last school year and this year it's $7.25 (maybe not exactly, but it's definitely more than 7$). They've introduced some new items this year and offer a weekly special (the time I went was a black bean burger that actually looked pretty decent). As for the chicken in the chicken cordon bleu, it is no longer the tender, juicy chunks of chicken, but instead, dry and salty deli-sliced chicken. I was soo disappointed when I found out because it really just wasn't the same. Club Med is still really busy during peak lunch hours and if you go during those times, oftentimes they don't let you customize your sandwich and will hand you the sandwich with what the menu says. Normally (when it's less busy), they'll call your order and ask what you what on it and you can pretty much get whatever you want. read more

Club Med is located at UC San Diego at the Grad Campus. As a pharmacy student at UCSD, I am a frequent visitor of Club Med. It is next to the Telemed building, which is where the school of medicine is located at. The great thing about club med is that they offered a variety of different food choices ranging from freshly made sandwiches to sushi. I often come here for their tea, snacks, coffee, sandwich, and salad. (Thank god for their coffee to get me through my studying!) One of the most popular dishes here is the Banh mi and meatball sandwiches. During rush hour esp lunch, there's not a place to form a proper line in front of the sandwich ordering line and the salad line. As a result, it can be kind of chaotic. The other negative thing about Club Med is that they close at 2PM, which is super early in my opinion. A lot of times, I am on campus studying and I would have to walk all the way to the undergrad campus for food. I think if they could extend their hours for another hour or 2 would be great. This cafe is located on the UC San Diego Medical School Campus. There's plenty of outdoor and indoor seating available. It only opens from Monday to Friday 7:30 am - 2 pm. Breakfast is offered until 10:15am, and lunch is offered until 2pm. Awesome place if you want to grab a quick lunch, chat with friends, and/or then relax under the sun. They serve ecoGrounds coffee. You get the coffee by yourself, and whole milk, non-fat milk, and SOY MILK are available at the counter next to the door after you pay for your coffee . YASSS the soy milk is free of charge. They also provide discount to the coffee if you bring your own mug. The Coffee taste fine to me. It would be a great morning boost for me if I'm in a hurry heading to the nearby Biomedical Library. SOMETHING TO EAT: I've only tried the lunch here. They have Turbo sandwiches, salads, soups, and pizza for lunch. I usually order the turbo sandwiches when I'm hungry, and order half of the salads when I want a light lunch. When's there's not many people in line, you can custom your own sandwiches and salads. My favorite sandwiches so far are the City Slicker ($7.25) and the Bay of Pigs ($7.25). The bread is pretty tasty, and they toast the sandwiches for you. I usually add the extra grilled onions to the City Slicker. YUMM. The roast beef in the City Slicker could be overtoasted, but still tastes pretty good. They have a specific counter selling desserts too. If you are affiliated to the university, there's a 10% off when you are paying by Triton cash. They do take credit cards too. SOMETHING TO DRINK: There's one big fridge where you can find different beverages including Starbucks drinks, Arizona teas, and sodas. Club Med is probably my second option when finding a place to grab a quick lunch aside from our cafeteria food, which by the way, isn't much to write home about. Sometimes, you just want to get away from a hospital setting and Club Med is just walking distance, located on the UCSD campus. It's a small, grab 'n' go café. You can order daily soups, pastries, fresh-made salads, flatbread pizzas, desserts, and deli sandwiches. Organic and vegetarian options available. Pricing is a bit steep, especially if you're on a budget. $3 for coconut water ?!! Insane ! How do these college kids survive ?? Oy ! They have indoor and outdoor seating which is plentiful. It's well-maintained and clean. It can get busy during lunch hours, but the service is pretty quick that you can get in/out of there in 10 minutes. A good thing since I only have a 30 minute lunch break. This gives me 15 minutes to eat and enjoy my surroundings (i.e. people watch) and run back to my office in time. haha Wish there were other go-to places to eat near work, but this will do for now. read more

Convenient location with healthy options. The line can get long, but the staff are efficient and friendly. There's always plenty of seating when dining in, but I find myself just doing takeout since I have lunch by myself (forever alone T_T). I get the usual Portuguese sandwich for lunch, but the Tuscan pesto flatbread with artichoke is very tasty if you like white pizzas. The crust is very crispy, reminiscent of regents pizzeria. Not bad considering the portion and the generous amount of ingredients. I don't care for the other pizzas since I'm not a fan of tomato/marinara sauce in pizzas or on "flat bread". Price-wise, it's not as ridiculously overpriced as the junk you see at the lodges in Big Bear, if you know what I mean... The employees are cool - they keep the line moving. As far as campus food goes its AMAZING. Hands down the best dining hall on campus, assuming you don't have time to make it to the bistro. The flat breads are super delicious, all of them are great but my favorite is the Santa Fe with chili flakes inside. The staff is super nice but a bit slow at times. They have a combo as well for a sandwich and soup or salad for 8 dollars or so. Not bad, but since they take dining dollars its not a problem for me. However, if i did have to pay real money for this i still probably wouldn't eat here. But if you're a student and haven't tried this place you should definitely come and check it out!! read more

I was on my way back to my dorm from the VAMC when it happened. Med students mistook me for a med student. It must have been that I was making my way to campus from the VA, my hair was in a messy bun, and I had a backpack with straps strategically adjusted to prevent scoliosis. I was ecstatic. Moi? A med student? Feeling five years older and considerably smarter than I really am, I worked up the courage to live like the cool kids. I went to eat at Club Med. The name makes it sound so exclusive. Like you have to be a Med person to get in. If I had a stethoscope I would've busted it out, but alas. The selection here is pretty awesome. Rather than my usual predicament, choosing the lesser evil, I found myself debating between two very appetizing options. I opted for the healthier option. You know, to boost my medical street cred. I sadly turned away from the Texas burger (a burger with BBQ sauce, onion rings, and bacon) in favor of a shrimp and mango wrap. But when I ate the healthy sucker, I was not disappointed. The lettuce was fresh and crisp... all the vegetables were. There was just enough balsamic vinaigrette to dress it, and there were these lovely little hints of mint and ginger. And with mango and shrimp! This level of deliciousness has, until now, been unheard of in school cafeterias. I'm happy to have found this gem of a campus eatery. It's right next to where I work, so chances are you'll see me here quite often. read more

This place is convenient and has decent food. That's about it. When I don't bring lunch and I'm extra lazy, I really like the how close this is to my lab. Unfortunately, the prices are kinda ridiculous. 6.75 for a caesar salad?!?! WHAT? Most of their food is between 5-10 bucks. If you have to get anything, go for their flatbread pizzas (pretty darn good) and their meatball sandwich (delicious!!). But expect to pay a lot for just a little. For example, I recently purchased 2 meatball sandwiches, a chocolate chip scone (which wasn't very good btw, it pretty much sucked all the moisture out of my mouth) and a diet pepsi for ~16 bucks. hmmmm that doesn't seem right.... The food options are decent though. Stations for salads, sandwiches, and flatbreads. A variety of breakfast pastries and bagels. Lemon bars, raspberry crumbles, brownies, cookies ,and slices of lemon & poppy seed pound cake. Pre packaged sandwiches, parfaits, fruit. Usually two types of soup. Various ice cream snacks. It's nice... but STILL, the expensive-ness kills me!! Most of the people that frequent this place are broke medical students, broke pharmacy students, or researchers who earn JACK. I find that I need to go to a library with decent wifi at least once if not twice a week. With that in mind, it's nice to know there's a halfway decent place to eat just walking distance from the ucsd biomedical library! The name makes you think the place serves uber fru fru food. But now that they're closing down, they've decided not to restock the sodas. Overpriced and relatively small portions, but probably the best pound for pound food on ucsd campus. If you're ok with spending 10+ dollars on lunch, I'd recommend this place. The options aren't extravagant, but the classic lunch items (burgers, sandwiches, pizza, soup) are all there to be coupled with chips and a drink. If you're not looking for a full meal, this is also a good place to stop for a meal replacement bar or coffee. Before I say anything, I'd like to preface by saying that I'm comparing Club Med to other on-campus food locations at UCSD. Club Med trumps all of the other miserable dining halls that students on campus have to deal with. Great ambiance, location, lots of profs and students who respectably keep the volume to a minimum. The outside tables are also very comfortable. It's just a great place to relax on a lunch break before holing back into the lab/office where the sun does not see. As for the food -- it's good! They have a consistent menu of toasted sandwiches (roast beef on flatbread, tuna on french roll, chicken on flatbread, vegetarian), and a make-your-own deli sandwich option and ready-made flatbread pizzas. Occasionally they have some specials, like carne asada tacos. The salads are pretty good as well. As for the price, it's gonna be the same as any other on-campus location, $6 for a salad or sandwich and $4 for a piece of pizza. I love the people who work at Club Med. Despite hordes of hungry med students, residents, doctors, grad students, etc. who frequent the place at noon, the workers are still gracious and patient. The manager is also really kind. read more

A solid meh. Club Med is much better than the Cafeteria & there are some gems here. But, it is overpriced for what it is. The fall harvest salad is great, I highly recommend it. The Tuscan chicken soup is also really good. The sandwiches are usually underwhelming. Beware of the long lines at lunch hour. Also, they are not appropriately staffed for the level of demand.
