Having recently visited Korea, I was excited to try this Korean Egg sandwich shop in La Jolla. Parking was easy on a Saturday morning and there are lots of EV charging spots right outside. There's seating inside and in a semi closed extension. The bacon hash brown egglet sandwich was delicious. The eggs were fluffy, the bread was buttered and grilled really well and the sandwich was fresh and piping hot. We also ordered a ham and cheese egglet sandwich but this one was not as delicious as the ham was a bit cold in ours. Overall, the quality is very good at Egglet, you can tell they are passionate about their craft. I would definitely come back for a bacon hash brown egglet sandwich.
What a nice find in La Jolla. Appears to be a relatively new spot nestled in the shopping center strip mall. Great location if you also need to charge your Tesla EV, as this restaurant spot is next to a bank of chargers. We were looking for a breakfast fast casual place to eat in the morning before driving home to LA and stumbled upon this in the yelp search algorithm. The menu choices were fairly extensive ranging from sandwiches, salads, burgers, and hash brown potato sides. We ordered two sandwiches: Ham and Egg, and Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. Along with one salad. Plus two coffees. You can order through a touchscreen kiosk, which they have two stations available, or you can walk over to the in-person ordering at the other end of the counter. One recommendation I would have for the owner is to customize the touchscreen ordering menu to allow for a checkbox that says "no cheese". My wife didn't want cheese but there was no way to indicate it when ordering through self-service. We had to ask the staffer to hold the cheese and she wrote the change request on the ticket for the line cook to follow. We observed at least four or five consecutive customers needing the same modification after they ordered by self-service. Maybe they can update their menu ordering system with this "no cheese" option in the future so the poor staff person doesn't have to manually adjust the ticket every time! Sandwiches are quite large! If you're not that hungry, you might consider sharing a sandwich. It's loaded with folded scrambled egg with a nice amount of cheese, and nestled between two slices of soft chewy bread that holds the massive amount together somehow! The salad was also nicely prepared and had tasty hints of truffle Parmesan. The owner/staffer lady was super nice and friendly and very enthusiastic and high energy as she called out completed orders, and helped even bring the food order to your table too in many cases. Solid place to grab a bite! Bookmark it if you're a local!
Loved this place ! Was super easy to order - on a screen. Service was quick and staff were polite. Ordered the Double Sausage Egglet and the Ham and Cheese Special Egglet. The sausage Egglet was good but the Ham Egglet was delicious! Really enjoyed the meal And would come back again for breakfast.
I came here on a Wednesday morning around 11 AM. You place your order at a register and pick it up at the counter. There are tipping options even though you're ordering and picking everything up yourself and even throwing away your own trash. The tipping culture is getting insane. I did have to ask the cook behind the counter what they recommended and to clarify a few menu items. I ordered the: *Triple Hashbrown Special Egglet: you can add extras, like bacon for $3.50 or ham for $2.00. I added ham, and the total came out to $16.15, which honestly feels high for what is basically a fast, casual breakfast spot. The eggs could've used more seasoning, there was no salt or pepper available at the counter, and the toast wasn't very crispy. The ham was nothing special, but the portion was large and could easily be split between two people. They do give a sauce to go with it, but it would've been nice to get two instead of one. *Cold Brew: it's decent, and you can add brown sugar for $0.75. Mine came out way too sweet, but they did give me extra cold brew to balance it out. Food came out in under five minutes. They have a self-serve station for condiments, napkins, and utensils. Staff were kind, and the place was very clean. Overall, service and speed were great, but walking out spending about $25 for a breakfast sandwich and coffee feels steep, even for California.
Food is so good and tasty. Not too salty and a great blend and balance of flavors. I got the toast sandwich with hash browns in it. it is super filling. The owner is very friendly and treats the customers so well. We've been back a couple times and I will continue going when I don't feel like making breakfast. Kpop playing in the background on the TV. Very nice to sit inside or on the covered patio area with friends while eating.
The Baseline: For a breakfast/brunch cafe the food must be hearty/filling/satisfying for the early morning, there must be a mix of sweet and savory to fulfill that brunch/breakfast need, and service must be a welcoming start of your day experience. Food: Had the double egg and cheese sandwich. Really good preparation of the scrambled egg and the brioche bun was well toasted and the cheese was well melted. Good sandwich. Service: Order kiosk and the staff prepped the sandwich quickly. Friendly and welcoming to the cafe. Ambiance: Some indoor seating but it had a big patio. The Tesla Chargers are right outside so this is a great sandwich if you are here for a morning Super-Charge.
We have been wanting to try Egglet sandwiches for a while, so we are super excited to finally visit it this morning! The store is super cutely decorated with egg themes. The ordering is done on two kiosks that you can easily browse the menu and see what the items look like. Their main dish is the "egglet" which basically is a Korean style egg sandwiches. The egg inside is scrambled eggs. The toast is sooo good! We really love the egglet. The hash browns are okay. I am not a fan of the seasoning on there, but some may like it. Although it's pricey, it is easily shareable for us when we order their combo. It's great to have a good breakfast place in the UTC area.
Eggs are the quintessential breakfast food and Egglet makes it the star of the show. They have an incredible list of egg sandwiches and on my visit I opted for the double sausage. The eggs are fluffy and the slices of toast are pretty thick too, so you're in for a hearty meal regardless of whichever sandwich you choose. They even come with a nice sauce that is slightly sweet. The staff makes things to order so you do get a nice piping hot sandwich too. And the ordering system from their kiosk was easy to use. A little pricy for a breakfast sandwich, but definitely worth a stop if you're looking for a hearty meal to start the day.
This was quite expensive as an egg Sando place but I think it was quite good. The 3.5 star is my actual rating but I give it extra for the service and the special sauce they give you. The orange juice was ok and wouldn't get it next time. Total Cost for two egg sandos and a juice $35
We wanted something quick and casual for breakfast and this was a good find. They serve their whole menu all day. I would say for the amount/quality of food, it's priced mid-range but it's also La Jolla so prices are typical of the area. Overall I would come here again if in the area. Korean BBQ burger- the soft, sweetened large ground meat was delicious. Salad- enjoyed the spring mix w egg and bacon for protein w a sweet, citrus dressing on the side. Egg, bacon sandwich was pretty good.
Tried this spot once, and I think that might be my last time trying them. I saw someone in the reviews mention that the bread to egg to protein ratio was off, and I agree. But another thing was just how bland my sandwich was. I ended up adding their sauce to it, along with some from home and cheese. I think the lady taking our order got confused and marked no cheese on both sandwiches. SMOKE BACON SPECIAL EGGLET ($11.79): The egg was fluffy, the slaw was good, but I feel like the bacon was one piece cut in half. MAYBE 1.5 pieces. Overall, I feel like this could have been made at home. DOUBLE SAUSAGE EGGLET ($10.59): So this was on us for thinking that the sausage would be "American" style instead of hot dog sausages in the sandwich. Again, nothing to really write about.

There are only two people working so if you go at a more crowded time, it might take some time to get your food. We ordered the ham and cheese special and made it a combo with monster truffle hash browns + orange juice. The monster truffle hash browns was SO GOOD. If you visit, you have to get this. The ham and cheese special was a little mid. It was lacking in flavor. For a place known for their sandwiches, this was a little disappointing.

I wish my smoked bacon special came with more cabbage, but that's a personal preference. - Service was prompt and everything came out piping hot! - Place is small but clean and there's plenty of parking! Cons: - Not for the faint of heart. This breakfast is very filling and might not be for those who don't like heavy breakfast. - Price is a tad high for a sandwich, but this is more quality over quantity type of place. *Not a con for me, but maybe for some. Tip: Get the truffle hashbrown and OJ for sure. Their orange juice is freshly squeezed, my favorite! The place cares about quality and it shows in their food AND refreshments.
What a cute little cafe!! A buddy informed me about a korean egg sandwich cafe and I had to come by! Tucked away in the back next to Leucadia Pizza in UTC at the end of Lebon where the Vons is... plenty if parking, next to Tesla chargers, and easy to find. Quick order process on the screen and plenty of places to sit and get some work done w free wifi. I love the korean music and TV featuring yummy korean eats.. and girls working there in the morning are so nice. Took sandwiches to go... and these are HUGE!!! Bigger than the ones I've seen from korea!! Got the bacon sandwich and its like 5 eggs thick with tons of yummy bacon.. slaw.. a slightly sweet sauce (koreans love sweet sauces)... and just so delicious. I was a little hesitant for the cost at first.. but the size definitely makes it worth. Easy to split with a buddy. My friend got sausage.. another hashbrown... and they also enjoyed their sandwiches! Also got the tiramisu coffee which was just right paired w the sandwich. Just the right amount of sweet and lovely chocolate flavor w coffee. Definitely recommend. Will definitely be back. Go get your breakfast fix and support them!! Such a lovely find!! read more

We're so glad we came here for breakfast & lunch!! The place is clean with plenty of seating, and the service process was great in that you can order onscreen on a menu with photo options. There's also combo options to add coffee which was a nice addition. We had the sausage & egg and the chicken and egg sandwich. I definitely recommend the sandwich, the toppings add a lot of flavor. read more

I've had many Korean egg sandwiches that I still dream about, this definitely wasn't one of them. Place seemed to be semi-touched up with furniture, but definitely older tiles and interior from its previous owner. Ordered a few boxes for catering and it was all made on time. Price was pretty good for catering, but unsure I would do again. The bread didn't taste like that fluffy sweet delicious Korean sandwich bread, and eggs were a little dense- not the typical super fluffy/airy delicious type. Truffle sandwich eggs had tons of flecks in the egg- kind of seemed like an herb or parsley, which some of my colleagues did not like. Anyway, wasn't bad- but it felt like something I could have made at home. read more
Came here on a Sunday morning. I was really excited. I didn't get entirely the concept from the name however. I tried to order from the kiosk but it didn't tell me what was on each sandwich. What's the names were very similar, so I went up to the register to order. When I asked the cashier about the sandwiches and the difference between the supreme she said it was cabbage but I didn't understand what was different about the cabbage. So I ordered without cabbage. I got a egg and cheese and then I added bacon and got a first squeezed orange juice and a plain hash brown, cuz I did not want the parmesan truffle strong flavor. I also wanted to put the hash brown into my sandwich. I feel like truffle over Powers a lot of things. Because she was very nice and they were very quick to get the food out but when I got the sandwich I realized that there was bacon missing from it. Also when I opened the sandwich I noticed at the egg did not fill the entire brand so they were going to be some bites without anything but bread. I was kind of confused why there was no sauce like mayo or Chipotle or something, but the citrusy sauce they give you on the side is actually really good and what you should be using. When I got the bacon it was actually a bunch of bacon crumbles and they were kind of hard and chewy which was disappointing to me. I thought it was going to be some special bacon but it was just plain old bacon. Orange juice was really cold and very nice, it was a great company and into the sandwich and the sauce. The establishment was nice and clean and they created a great atmosphere. I wish I understood more about that sauce they give you but it was really good. If you're taking leftovers home definitely take some of that sauce home with you. Okay read more
Came here for breakfast and it was definitely good for a one time try in my opinion. Food 4/5: For the sandwhiches, we got ham n cheese and the sausage. They were sweet and savory and tasted even better as leftovers after being popped in the airfryer. Definitely needed ketchup though as it just felt like it needed some type of sauce. The truffle hashbrowns have a nice crunch but they are packaged so poorly to go. We had thought they were in like a little paper baggie but they were just wrapped in paper so when we pulled one side out of the bag, all the seasoning and hashbrowns just fell everywhere. The sandwhiches were also packaged super poorly side by side with no covering. It felt impossible to get out of the bag without ruining them. Service/Ambiance 3.5/5: No bathroom which kinda sucked. They do take a long time to make as my bf walked all the way to vons to use the restroom and back and they still weren't ready. The workers are very nice and the decorations are super cute for pictures especially. 4 stars because I do believe if I just got everything not to go, I would have had a better experience. read more
I ordered the Smoked Bacon Egglet. The sandwich tasted great but the bread to egg/cheese/bacon ratio was off. See picture... first few bites were just toasted bread. Definitely WAY more bread than anything else. Not sure it was worth +$12 for a mostly toast sandwich. They had a lot of different egglet/sandwich combos (see menu) and a cooler full of drink options, including beer (Modelo and eggs - Who knew?). I had take-out so minimal interaction with staff. Ordered at kiosk and picked up from counter when it was ready. The inside area was clean, nicely decorated, and had plenty of seating for small and medium sized groups. Both indoor and covered outdoor space to choose from. Also a lot of shared parking spots available. read more
Huge, filling sandwiches but I give it 3.5 stars for flavor. There was plenty of meat and egg in each sandwich. I didn't like the vinegary honey sauce that came on the side though. Honestly, best thing here are the large, crispy hash browns! My husband enjoyed his Korean coffee as well. Similar to Vietnamese style but less strong in flavor. read more

The food and menu certainly looks appetizing, but sadly the flavors are quite lacking. The egg is not very soft, considering they're an egg sandwich place, they should focus on making their egg soft and stand out. This feel like any regular scrambled/omelet style egg. If you've been to egg tuck and expect similar level of egg softness and fluffiness, you'll be disappointed. The sandwich itself also lacks flavor. I think they cna benefit in putting spicy mayo or garlic mayo, or stronger condiments in their sandwich to boost the flavor, as the egg itself is barely seasoned. The truffle tater tots is also sorely lacking in flavor. I mean truffle salt is not even that expensive. They could've provided few more shakes of the truffle salt. The place also looks a bit old and the flooring of the balcony is uneven and makes it a bit hard to walk on. The only saving grace was the person working there seems quite nice and works decently fast. But, I'm still quite disappointed overall with the place and I don't think I'll be back. read more

We were looking for a quick breakfast near UCSD and found this place on yelp. It is a pretty small spot but I think people can come and go pretty quickly. We ordered through the kiosk and got one egg & cheese and another ham, egg, and cheese combo which came with a coffee. Both sandwiches were tasty and we didn't have to wait too long. They came out hot and fresh and really hit the spot. I enjoyed adding sriracha (they still had the OG one) to mine. Coffee was typical. Parking shouldn't be a problem. No restrooms. read more

Egglet serves delicious and flavorful egg sandwiches and fill a niche of food in San Diego that I've been waiting for. I've been craving this kind of egg sandwich for some time now. It seemed more popular on the East Coast and in Los Angeles but I didn't know of any places that did it well in San Diego until Egglet. I walked in on a weekday a bit after lunch time. It was not crazy busy but looked so tasty. They have some outdoor seating and some indoor seating. They have an open kitchen so as soon as you open the door you are hit with the smell of delicious breakfast foods. The service was nice and friendly. I ordered the truffle hash brown special and was not disappointed. Their bread here is excellent. Nice and fully and cradles the rest of the sandwich well. The truffle hash brown in my opinion is what separates them from other egg sandwich places. It elevates the flavor even higher. So happy to have a egg sandwich place I enjoy in SD. We stumbled across this place randomly while trying to find a spot for breakfast, and it hits the spot! I saw on a poster displayed in the shop that this type of food is called "Street Toast" and is popular in Korea. We got a couple different things to try and everything was yummy. I ordered two egglet sandwiches -- a ham and cheese and a ham and cheese "special", and I added bacon to the "special." The egglet sandwiches come with the yummy brioche sandwich bread, similar to what you'd use in French toast, as well as cheese and Canadian ham. Adding bacon was a good choice, and I loved how the bacon was candied, adding a nice sweetness to the sandwich that offset the saltiness of the egg and ham. One of my sandwiches was the "special" but I wasn't sure which extra ingredients are included; I did notice more vegetables like shredded lettuce? I also ordered the smoked egg bacon sandwich, which has similar ingredients as the egglet but uses a brioche hamburger bun instead and also a generous swipe of yummy mayo spread that pulls the whole sandwich together. The egglet sandwiches, in contrast, don't have spread, but the cheese gives them a yummy gooiness. Both are good and it just depends on your preference. The surprise hit was the truffle hash browns. Some people love the Mickey D's hash browns; these are similar but 1000x better: crispy from being fried, but not overly oily, and with a wonderful umami punch from the truffle flavor sprinkled on top. I'd 10/10 get these again! Overall, we enjoyed our food and I'll be back the next time I'm in town to support this local Korean-run restaurant. read more
3.5 stars; first impression was good but not dying to go back. Ordered ahead online for lunch and was hot & ready when I arrived. Tried a sandwich with egg, ham, and cheddar cheese between pieces of brioche. Food was good, but didn't blow me away. For almost $20, I expected more. I would be lying if I said I didn't think "I could just make this at home" as I ate it. The texture of the egg and bread was both nice and soft though. Their hash browns came with 3 pieces and were nicely seasoned with Parmesan garlic. Similar to Trader Joe freezer ones or McDonalds, just with powdered seasoning on top. Was in the neighborhood dropping off a package at UPS and saw this place in the corner of my eye. Loved the simple menu, and options that all looked great. I saw that soft brioche bread from the guests that received the order before me. Had to go with the smoked bacon egg cheese sandwich. It was so hot and delicious I had to actually be patient to let it cool down a bit. Afterwards I asked them about a Chinese type crepe with egg and I didn't know they were Korean so I got extra embarrassed and was awkward but ended funny. For sure I will come back! read more
I haven't gotten the opportunity to try anything else on their menu so this is purely for their Truffle Hash-Brown. This just might be the best hash browns, not just for its value, but also for its taste, in San Diego. Before we get into it, some information about the store and parking. Egglet is located in the same plaza as Vons and so there's a ton of parking available at any time of the day. The restaurant has indoor seating and kind of this patio seating. If you're dining in, I'd recommend sitting on the patio area or be prepared to smell like a diner for the rest of the day. The hash browns come with 3 per order. They're definitely larger than fast food chain restaurants' and crispier. And for just $4.50, these are already a much better deal. On top of all that, these are truffle hash-browns too. Holy moly, Egglet was such a surprise. The sandwiches are gigantic, the hash browns out of this world, orange juice freshly squeezed, service impeccable, and the space is tidy and organized. You MUST order the truffle hash browns. Don't even question it and just do it. They're crispy and coated in truffle and black garlic giving it a savory and sweet dusting. The sandwiches are enormous so don't say I didn't warn you. You can get the sandwiches using sliced brioche bread with omelet style eggs or a roll with over easy eggs. These sandwiches are Asian inspired and have a sweetness to them. I ordered the smoked bacon which was large, cheesy, had freshness from the cabbage, and so big I couldn't finish it. It was very good. My husband ordered the double sausage with two Turkey sausage links, cheese, and egg. If you've ever been to Japan, you've seen egg sandwiches with wieners which is exactly that. It's a link style sausage and not crumbled or sliced. So yummy. I was eyeing their orange juice and ordered it after we sat down and started eating. It was freshly squeezed, sweet, and perfect. The service was superb and the restaurant itself is so neat and clean. I would highly recommend swinging by to eat, bring an appetite, and know it's not a typical westernized breakfast sandwich. read more

Stopped by the other day in the morning while looking for a place to have breakfast or brunch. Upon walking in we were greeted by the kiosks, so we did it through that. (though we noticed after that there was a spot a little further into the store where you can order directly with the staff) In the store itself there is a few dining options, but if you walk towards the side of the store there are more seating options outdoor. Everything was nicely pictured, however I will add that it didn't necessarily describe what was in the different egglet sandwiches they offered, if anything we had to in a sense guess what was in it through the option to remove items from the sandwich. (ex: ignoring the name of the item, if there was a check box that said remove cheese, we would assume that it came with cheese and vice versa if it didn't have the option) Other than that, the ordering process was simple and straightforward. As for the food we ordered the Ham&Cheese Special Egglet, the Smoked Bacon Special Egglet (w/ added cheese for an extra cost), and their Fresh Orange Juice. The Egglets were a decent size, very filling, and tasty! It came with a tangy and sweet sauce (which I'm assuming is their Egglet Signature sauce) which paired very nicely with the savoriness of the Egglets. The orange juice definitely tasted like freshly juiced oranges, however, we thought for the amount and size that $4.50 was a little much when compared to the Egglets which were around $11 something. Everything came out to a little over $31 for the two of us. On the side note, a little unrelated, we were pleasantly surprised by the EV chargers right next to the store, which we thought was very convenient especially if you have an electric vehicle that needed charging and while waiting you can give this store a try. read more

I saw this place on social media and excited to have a Korean egg sandwich spot in SD! I got the smoke bacon special which was a HUGE portion for $9.5; I shared with my sister and we still didn't finish it. I wasn't a fan of the "bacon" which was more of a sausage; maybe I just chose the wrong one. The eggs were fluffy and the toast was good but could be crunchier, and overall it was sweeter than I would like it. The food was very good! There was lots of seating and ordering was easy. The sandwiches are very simple but delicious, and come with a sauce. The hash browns stole the show. They were so crispy and flavorful. I would definitely recommend it on the side so it stays crispy. read more

Egglet is a breakfast sandwich eatery operating out of a corner suite in a University City plaza off Regents Rd. The space used to house a poke shop before being converted to this business. There was a covered outdoor patio for seating in addition to the inside dining area. Egglets, sandwiches, salads, sides, beverages, and ice cream made up the menu categories. Some combination deals were available that included a drink as well as large box deals that featured a dozen servings. The sandwiches were more traditional fare like chicken breast and cheeseburgers. For the egglet category, there were eight varieties of omelet, meat, and cheese served on toast. The most decadent version was my selection, a Truffle Hash Brown Special. The ingredients were a seasoned hash brown, omelet, dip cheese, mozzarella, sheared cabbage, truffle parmesan, and black garlic. I thought that stuffing a hash brown on toast was a great idea as it added more heft. The truffle and black garlic provided sharp pungent flavors. The owners are Korean and were very friendly during my visit. Instead of another BBQ spot, I am glad they branched out and came up with egg sandwiches. If Egglet was not out of the way for my commute, then I would return more frequently to try some of the other products because the quality and value were at a four star level. read more
I am such a huge fan of Korean-styled sandwiches, so I have been meaning to try Egglet out. We ordered the Truffle hash-brown special and the smoke bacon special. Both items were phenomenal and quite distinct from your typical breakfast sandwiches. Despite the fact that they have salty/cheesy toppings, the sandwiches also had a hint of sweetness to them. The bread was also very delicious and tasted moist (very far from dry, unlike most bread in sandwiches). The eggs were quite fluffy and moist as well. The sandwiches are quite large, so they are also great for sharing! We picked the sandwiches up, so they were at room temperature when we ended up eating them. I can only imagine how delicious they are when they are served fresh and hot. I would definitely recommend checking out Egglet--especially to those who are breakfast sandwich lovers!! read more
