I went for the first time last month and after my first night, I became a member. I've never been in any space where women are more desired, while also being respected and protected by the staff and most of the guests. It's the only place where I feel empowered to be completely exposed and vulnerable, but feel confident and sexy about it. There is the occasional creep who makes it in, but there's no real way to screen for them, but at least they don't stay for very long. My girlfriends and I feel very safe here, and anyone thinking of trying it should go to one of their "Newbie" nights, of which they have 2 each month. Tell them it's your first time so you can go on the tour which they will give to guests on their first time. And for any single men who are thinking of leaving a negative review because of the cost to get in, DON'T be that guy- think about it, it's simple. Women have very few many protected spaces in this world. Usually, we just have ladies rooms if we need a safe space, so places like this are very special for us. So here is the deal. I have been here a few times and every single time the music is awful. They need a different DJ, literally everyone I have talked to agrees with me on this point. But even worse than the song selection is how loud it is. You can't talk to anyone without yelling and leaning in real close. My ears are still ringing from two nights ago. My friend left early because her throat hurt from yelling. They are damaging everyone's hearing and making the experience so much less enjoyable. I love dancing but the music never makes me want to dance. I love chatting with people, but it's very difficult to do so because of how loud it is. This place could be soo much better than it is. I haven't found anyone who disagrees with me either. Apparently they just don't take feedback from anyone about it. My friends volunteer there and they said the same thing. FOLLOW-UP REVIEW: Okay, so we have officially been back a third time, and we are glad we took the leap of faith to give it another chance. Here is what we've noticed since our last visit: *Preface: We are just super chill, normal people who very much enjoy meeting new friends and enjoying new experiences. In short: we're probably a lot like you! Okay, on to the follow-up review: 1. They had an actual, human DJ playing music this time, and it was music people actually KNEW. Okay, so even if they weren't all crowd-pleasing bangers one would expect from a club, at the very least we recognized most of the songs, and the sound was not thunderingly loud. We could actually hold a conversation in the seating areas. Yay! 2. They started offering their complimentary buffet again. Although perhaps not as ample as some of us may remember, it was really nice to see they offered something to satiate their patrons. And it's a good thing, as some couplings had worked up an appetite having so much fun! The food for purchase is still not all that great, and there really is not much to choose from. 3. The "clique" issue: Many reviewers here have noted the same thing we have -- cliques that just sort of keep to themselves; almost like they're at a school reunion or something. While chatting away, we discovered from a lovely, cheerful couple, who are longtime patrons, that these "cliques" are frequent guests of the Club. They surmised that the reason these groups come off as socially cold to others is because apparently, they don't socialize with those who are not friends/ also frequent patrons - fair enough... I suppose? Still, this does not fully explain away their pack mentality and perceived lack of sociability in what we, without question, consider not only a safe place, but one specifically designed to help people meet other, like-minded people. In my humble opinion, it would behoove these "cliques" to make others, especially newcomers, feel welcome. Returning patrons will help keep the lights on and the party going in, what most would agree, is quite the rare gem of a place. I would guess that some people reading this right now have never been to the Club and are doing a bit of investigating; they may be a bit shy to try out this experience. That is totally reasonable. If that's you: all I can say is, there are many wonderful, friendly, and sociable people here - it can just be a hit-or-miss situation until you find them. But they are there. 4. The overall "vibe" was back from our first visit. It felt much more joyful and relaxed in general, mostly due to the more laid-back patrons who weren't so stand-offish as the overwhelming amount of cliquey folks we encountered the second time. That, and the improved music situation made it feel more welcoming and livelier. 5. We finally felt comfortable enough to join in the fun; something we were hesitant to do the first 2 times. And we definitely enjoyed ourselves! The prompt, stealthy, attentive, professional bedside service (turning, cleaning, etc) the employees conduct made the experience feel super comfortable and intuitive. In summation: we will be back. When? Dunno. But we will definitely be back. Suffice to say, it was absolutely worth giving Club Privata another go. Be safe! Have fun! And please, talk to others you don't already know. First, let me state that the club was clean, staff seemed attentive, drinks were reasonable ($6 beers) but I did not try food. As a semi-decent looking single guy in his early 50s (6' 170, clean shaven, well-dressed and most of my hair) I was severely disappointed in the amount of play a single guy can get. I went on a newbie Thursday night so the cover while high ($50) wasn't ridiculous ($100). There were mayb 40-50 attendees. 1/2 were couples and the rest were mostly height/weight proportional single men and a few overweight females. While not a surprise to single men that use dating apps, the ability to get any type of "play" is difficult. While a weekend might produce more experimental females, I think the old adage that "Women have all the power in the sex game" is absolute truth in this venue. In short, a single guy will get more stimulation from lap dance than the cost and time of this club. Doubtful I'll return unless they offer a no-cover night! read more

What's going on Privata? Are you having money troubles? This is my first time back in years and things have definitely changed. I was really disappointed last night. 1) No buffet. And the options on the individual purchase menu were uninteresting. 2) They no longer hire a DJ. The DJ booth sits empty. You're only open 3 nights a week and you can't afford to hire a DJ? Everyone I spoke to was complaining about the music. The transitions sucked, and it was "early 2000's rap." I wanted to hear dance music. Where's the Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, and Pink? 3) No Porn! The tv on the 2nd floor was off. The tv in the couples lounge was off. There used to be a tv above the entrance. It's gone. The place no longer feels like a sex club. It's like they're a night club trying to hide the fact that there are bedrooms in the back. I really don't understand why they stopped showing porn. 4) No sex swing. One of the bedrooms used to have a sex swing in it and it's gone. There is just a bed in there now. All night I was wishing I was at Velvet Rope. They have a better food menu, better music, a bigger dance floor, a sex swing, hot tubs, porn screens, and just more to do. Fix these issues and I'll be back. read more

It is NOT upscale and it's reached the point that it's no longer safe. First, they do NOT enforce their dress code. On non-theme nights, we've seen everything from flip-flops to flannel shirts to t-shirts and jeans. Seriously, zero dress code enforcement. Zero. We wholeheartedly agree with the reviews here and on R_ddit, FL, SDC, and Kasidie; it's apparent that the owners are doing a cash grab and have chosen Quantity over Quality. Our last visit, likely to be our very last ever, left us feeling unsafe, too. Two things happened, and together they caused us to leave early and decide not to return until there are either new owners or some sort of public acknowledgment of changes to come. First, they say that they limit to 10 men, this is not true. We are not against single men, but when there are so many that it becomes like a dive bar, to the point that they hound you non-stop, that's too much. If the Mr. dares leaves the Mrs for a second, like to grab drinks or go to the restroom, expect the flock to her while she waits. The men that night, while not breaking any rules, were too aggressive and there were simply too many of them to not feel harassed. Even as we moved from one floor to the next, they followed us and as soon as we stopped walking, there was another one interrupting us. One right after the other. It was worse than a dive bar. This is the owner's fault; by them not adhering to their stated limit of 10, the owners created a harassing and hostile environment. The second issue was there were two men walking around the club with duffle bags and seeming to point them at the crowd. When staff was notified, the men were only asked to put the bags away. Why did staff not insist on inspecting the bags? From what we and others saw, it looked like they had cameras in them by the way that they were pointing them around. Absolutely zero accountability. This isn't the first time we've seen this either. We've seen fanny packs being worn by men and women (again, non-theme nights) and they were not only allowed through door check with these on, they were allowed to wear these throughout the night. The owners, Holly and Charles have been present during all of these nights, too. In reading other reviews, where you can see who the posters are, it is evident that Privata has a group of regulars who are fine with the status quo. They will, for whatever reasons are their own, defend Privata. However, move away from these present day regulars and you will be hard pressed to find a couple out there that will say that it's (1) upscale or (2) that they felt safe there. If they do, question the validity of their existence or look to see if they are the types who would consider Taco Bell fancy... If you do go, go during Halloween, NYE, or their anniversary party as those appear to be the only nights of the year that they care about dress code, single men, and safety. read more

Went on newbie night with my wife, spent the extra money to get a private section with bottle service and we were looking good and feeling good. Unfortunately, even for "newbie" night, it seemed like everybody already knew each other and quickly became super clique. We put out all the right vibes and never had ANYBODY try to play, talk to us, invite us for anything, etc. Also, it seemed like most people were just sitting around or standing around beds trying to catch a look at someone actually playing! For anyone that's never been to Club Privata. You definitely need to go. It's an amazing high-end nightclub with a strict dress code, great drinks, amazing service, and awesome vibe. We always meet new friends when we go, never a letdown. If you've been here and didn't meet anyone!! You had to have hid in the corner or the bathroom. This place is full of super friendly people, staff and attendees. If we could rate this place higher than 5 star!!! We would all day long. Had an overall great experience at a Newbie Night. Staff were very kind and answered all of my questions. The entire club was very clean and made me feel safe. I met a few regulars, and they were kind and answered questions - expressed their interest but weren't pushy when I said no. I ended up meeting a couple and going into a room with them. I had let the husband know I would only be playing with his wife and didn't want to be touched by him at all. He touched me on several occasions anyway, and I had to push him off. It was their first time too, so if you meet people, I'd suggest being insanely adamant about your limits. I know "serious" isn't sexy, but it is important in these types of settings. I had a great first time experience this past Saturday. I work with about 8 straight women, we paid $10 a piece. If you don't sign the waiver before you get there you'll have to do it outside in the pouring rain. Once you're in there it's pretty spacious. Classiest club of its kind you'll find here in Portland. Some nights are great others aren't, but that's less to do with the club and more to do with the crowd. I don't recommend coming on Thursdays, it's absolutely empty. Came here with my partner yesterday and the AC wasn't on... in 100 degree weather. So you guessed it, we left within 10 minutes of arriving. Disappointed; totally disrespectful of the owners to charge $100 for an empty club and not blast the AC. Meals are part of reason I come visit - I enjoyed plantain with bacon today. Chicken was tender and salad was freshly made. Delish! The age is varied, though I'd say 30-40's are most common. Mostly white couples, and few minorities. Seems more does private activity and voyeurism over exhibition and kink. Though there is different themed night, so it could change clientele. For the most part couples are confident and courteous, single guys.... well, they do pay most to get in, and desperate to get hitched. They do take no for NO and ask before touch, most of the time. I just haven't come across a guy who catches my fancy yet. Overall convenient location. But it's a late starter and don't pick up till 11:30 pm. And for someone like me who takes public transportation to downtown as I don't like leaving my vehicle there at night or fight for parking. My girlfriend and I went there for the New Year's Eve party. I have to say that I am very impressed with what they've done with the place in the after math of Club Sesso. There's more room on the dance floor, more lockers to store your valuables, they added a bar on the second floor,......It was SO much better than Sesso. The people?? Wow. There were SO many beautiful, sexy women there. Honestly, I was shocked. The ONLY negative comment we have is about the music. It started off well enough, but then seemed to switch to this...aerobic like, techo....huh? It would be great if they stuck to top 100 music of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s more. Other than that, the club is great. Oh, I guess there's just one more thing. It would be nice if they had themes catering to certain age groups. Something for people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s/50s. We're in our 40s and we have a difficult time relating to people in their 20s. Plus, they tend to look at us strangely since we are probably close to their parent's age. I echo Doug's sentiment about the reviewer who stayed for only 20 minutes and left. If that reviewer had stayed a little longer, they would've seen a variety of ages at the club. One of the reasons we stopped going to the club when it was Sesso is we felt the crowd wasn't very diverse. Who pays all that money to stay somewhere for only 20 minutes??? Even if you hate the crowd, I would've at least stayed long enough to eat the food so it's not a complete waste of money. We definitely love the new setup of the club as there is a lot more room to socialize on the first floor. We also love that you can reserve the VIP room if you want to have a dedicated room that night to play. I do wish the VIP room was a little bigger, that is my only complaint. The crowd seems to be way more diverse than it was at Sesso, which makes us love the new place even more. Hard to put our finger on it, but it just seems like a sexier crowd than before.
