Steve and crew do an amazing job. Let's start with the masterfully prepared rye whiskey old fashioned. This is Wisco baby, so a perfect OF is a must-and you get that here. Now, I'm known as a bit of a foodie, so I'm confident in telling you the German potato salad here is the last meal I want on death row. May I add, skip the fatty filling mayo and go with the vinegar based cole slaw which is crisp and delightful. I'm not done yet. Either the blackened salmon or sword fish will be an absolute crowd pleaser. Well worth the trip from across the Fox Valley. Hold on brother-- The unique homemade soups this crew makes are amazing. Took some friends, including a visitor from North Carolina, for the Friday fish fry. Had perch and broiled haddock. Everyone loved the food. Coleslaw and American fries were great. Service, which can sometimes be slow, was very good. Also had a wonderful old fashioned. My friend from North Carolina said it was the best fish fry she's had in years! read more

Wisconsin charm! Wonderful Old Fashioneds! Great food! This charming, but unassuming little tavern is a wonderful find! This place attracts regulars who know how good it is, but to anyone driving by, you might not notice this little jewel in downtown Menasha! The german potato salad is the best I have ever had! Homemade beef barley soup, delicious! Bbq ribs, incredible! Broasted chicken, yum! Tenderloin steak, shrimp, so good! And don't forget the onion rings! I would give this awful place ZERO stars if I could . I left a review on their FB page after my sisters, myself , my nephew and my son were treated horribly . Myself and one of my sisters just recently moved to WI from Az and the our sister came to visit for the weekend. We heard Club Tavern had great food so we headed in , only to be refused service for no other reason stated than our Arizona ID's . We didn't even get to sit down longer than 5 minuets before being asked for our ID's . We stayed we were there to eat and not drink .. we were still refused service. Club Tavern is an old Menasha landmark bar that has turned from dive bar status, to serving as a local hangout for Neenah and Menasha's in crowd. The bar is quaint, and can get crowded at times. Their specialty is their fish, which is actually quite good. You'll run into friends here that you wouldn't expect to see. Service here is sparse, the wait for your food is usually too long, and obtaining a table on a crowded night via the tradition of asking the current diners to save it for you give this place a unique flavor. Though, I'm certain these traditions drive away business, from time to time it is worth the hassle (and it can be one!) for their fish fry. With just a little more effort towards customer service this place could be an even bigger hit in the Valley. Prices are above average for their fish, ranging from $10-18, and the drinks aren't cheap. But this keeps the dive bar crowd at bay that actually raise the atmosphere a notch or two. A good fish fry is getting more difficult to find. Club Tavern is an above average choice. read more

$45 for 2 person fish fry, waited 2 hours for carryout, forgot tartar after specifically asking twice, the sides were sized like that from a kids meal, and highly overpriced. Not worth the drive to pick it up, the drive back for what they screwed up, or lack of customer service when we called about the experience. You can do way better. read more

Best fish fry! Amazing classic Wisconsin bar! You won't regret that it. You have to understand how it works. No one will greet you, no one will seat you. If a table is free take it. Not impressed at all. 3 stars because of the ample beer selection. Friend got fish platter (fried) and one of the pieces of fish, he said was the fishiest piece of fish he's ever had. I tried it and completely concurred! I got the stuffed shrimp, it was good but not the best I've had. Not a lot of food (for around here) even though I got the single serve. The coleslaw was good. You also get a slice of rye bread and thats just not okay to not have an option since rye bread can be an acquired taste (and far from mine!). Staff was friendly. Place is very small with limited seating. Really wanted to like this place because stated online its supposed to be one of the better places to go for Friday fish fry. This place is great for Friday fish. I not a big fan of fried fish. I have found club tavern has the best variety of grilled fish options. I love the German potato salad. Get there early the wait could be long. Not a lot of seating. Make sure you ask the people eating for their table when they get finished. The wait staff does not seat you. read more

Pretty busy on Friday and a little hard to find a table. Very casual dining atmosphere with pleasant wait staff and a great bar staff. Typical fried appetizers- but the broiled swordfish was a pleasant surprise. Served on a hot metal plate, the cut of fish was thick and juicy served plainly yet delicious. I only went in one time but it's a quaint bar and very busy for Friday fish. Did not see walleye on the menu (which was a bit disappointing) but went for perch next. They took the order then came out and said that they ran out. So I took a stretch and went for swordfish and my girlfriend went with salmon. The swordfish was not very good (but thank god for tartar sauce!) and the salmon wasn't too bad. The German potato salad was very good, unfortunately my girlfriend got sick. This place is a hidden gem in Menasha. You could very well walk right past it without noticing. My family is from the area and we always go here at least once when I am in town. It just looks like a little dive bar, but they have a good selection of beer, a good jukebox, and really good food for very reasonable prices. I brought my boyfriend here for the scallops (he's from the Chicago area), and he was really surprised at how good the food was. Club Tavern has a good atmosphere, amazing beers on tap and obviously (as everybody knows) the best food in town. If people complain about the wait for food on Friday nights, remember that you can get the same menu items on Wednesdays and Thursdays as well. This WAS our favorite place!! Went Friday night and was the absolute worst service we have had anywhere! Wasn't busy at all!! Started off asking if we could order the fried shrimp as an appetizer before we ordered our dinners the girl looked at us like we were crazy even though we've ordered it every time we go there, granted Sue who's been there for 30+ years knows us well, we knew she was on vacation, we were regular customers there we waited over an hour for food and the bartender who didn't know about the shrimp just dropped us like we weren't even there, later after we said something she said oh well I have a full-time job and that was on my mind, i'm sorry there's no excuse for poor service if you are open for business you are expected to give great customer service, Especially if you're working for tips! Which we always give generously! Tried calling the owner five minutes after we left and we were told he stepped out which was a lie we saw him at the bar drinking. No excuses! So long!!
