I used Clutter years ago for a small 5x5 storage unit and was initially impressed with their user interface, delivery system, and the overall ease of use. I even recommended them to friends and family. Unfortunately, my recent experience was a complete disaster from start to finish. I hired Clutter again before leaving the country for a sabbatical. They showed up with only two movers for a large move, took long breaks, and couldn't complete the job. Despite offering to pay extra to hire or overtime more help, I was told that wasn't allowed and I'd need to reschedule--an impossible option, as I was flying out and giving up my apartment the next day. I ended up spending $1,000 out of pocket to move everything to a storage unit the very next day (finished 3 hours before my flight) so Clutter could pick it up from there, which they had agreed to. I left detailed instructions, made myself reachable internationally (phone, text, email, whatsapp, facetime, even my second phone), and got confirmation that I didn't need to be onsite. No one contacted me the day of pickup, yet I was charged a $200 cancellation fee. When I called to dispute it, they claimed they tried to reach me (they didn't) and refused to refund anything. The second attempt wasn't better. I appointed a family member as the point of contact and again confirmed that no one needed to be onsite. On the day of pickup, Clutter claimed they didn't have the gate code, lock combo, or unit number--we provided this over the phone. They were successfully and had even already opened the unit but then suddenly changed course and demanded someone be there physically or else they would cancel and I would be charged $200 again. I spoke to customer service while this was occurring and they said my two other separate colleagues were wrong, we need someone there now. My family member had to rush over and ended up helping move the items himself because the movers were essentially doing nothing. After weeks of stress, disorganization, poor communication, and unhelpful customer service (outsourced and seemingly disconnected), my belongings were finally stored. But the emotional toll, wasted time, and hidden costs were staggering. Bottom line: Clutter might seem cheaper up front, but the chaos, unreliability, and lack of accountability will cost you far more in the long run. What used to be an innovative service is now a disjointed, empathy-less mess. I will never use this company again and strongly advise others to stay far away. This was hands down the worst move I've EVER experienced. The beginning was ok but as they progressed, the head person Chase or something comes and tells me that in order to take my bed and tv down he needed tools and wait for it... THEY FORGOT the tools! My neighbor steps in and offers hers- of course they did not thank her. Then they discovered that they needed an allen wrench that they also did not have- my daughter in law went to her house and get hers. Now at this time, packing has stopped- she comes back, and they let her unscrew the tv and my bed as I was not in the room. Then they decide to take over an hour and twenty-minute lunch (for which I have proof- but he just discounted ALL of it) and just threw the rest of my items in my garage. Now let's talk about the damage that was done!!! They scratched and scoffed up the walls and then they offer me $100 for 4 walls! The claim that I had originally put in was $325.00, which they approved and then took back! Where does this happen at? The damage done to my personal property was worse. Once they "viewed" my photos, they dumbed it down to minor damages. My headboard, foot board, 2 dressers, a brand new samsung soundbar. Now get this- of course it's in the fine print- but if you don't buy an expensive upgrade protection plan- they only pay you $1 per pound you can imagine what they are proposing for my claim. Then once they got tired (which I am not sure how they were tired after taking almost 1- and 1/2-hour lunch break) oh it was getting close to quitting time- they did not set other bed up, did not put my already labeled boxes in the correct rooms, and it took me over 30 minutes to find my tv in the garage! Once they "finished" I saw the post documents and was floored! The cost was $2043.00 for a 3-bedroom apartment to a house and get this- one bedroom they didnt even touch! I was quoted at max $1700 and even that was a lot. I refused to sign until the bill was explained. With that being said, they literally suspended my account for my storage items. Even while "suspended" they still managed to charge me for Feb rent. I wanted my storage delivered on my move date the 29th of Jan. I am disgusted by Tiffany- customer svc rep who told me to wait and pay once bill had been clarified. Michelangelo for making promises and not keeping them. Just this whole incompetent company and its staff. This company is HORRIBLE. Please choose another moving company because while you think you are getting a deal- you are not! Admittedly, this is a hecka-long review but believe me, it'll be well worth your time! Last year, I was suckered into the "$1 the first-month" promotion that Public Storage runs periodically. After the first month my rate went up to $360 a month for an 8x20 unit. And this was after I paid a moving company $900 to move my belongings to the storage unit! Desperate to get out of this month-to-month rental grift, I came across an ad for Clutter.com. I read up on the business and was so excited by what I read that I booked an appointment to have my belongings moved two days from the phone call. I'm so thoroughly pleased with the AMAZING service provided to me by the "Clutter Crew" (my nickname, not theirs) that I think I might actually get over the "bait and switch" Public Storage pulled. Here are the reasons I'm giving Clutter a solid 5+ Star rating: 1. Clutter's storage prices are far CHEAPER than most of its competitors. However, if you find a cheaper price for the same amount of storage space, Clutter will MATCH the price! They also have a $100 discount referral program. 2. Clutter is a moving company and storage supplier rolled into one but you'll pay less for their service than you'll pay for a traditional storage unit by itself! a. Clutter will come to your home, apartment, or storage unit, PACK your belongings in boxes, bubble wrap, etc., load them on their truck and transport them to their warehouse. b. Whenever you need an item, Clutter will bring that item to your home at NO additional charge. c. If you want ALL of your belongings removed from storage, Clutter will bring them to you at NO charge. 3. Clutter can afford their one-stop-shopping model because they've come up with an ingenious business model. They've removed the overhead associated with traditional storage unit companies by using giant warehouses to store people's belonging. As the "Clutter Crew" packs your belongings, they photograph the top interior contents of each box and photograph and place barcode labels on all bulky items. These photographs are then uploaded to their site to create a catalog of your personal items. These procedures facilitate storage efficiency and most importantly, make it easy for them to pull items that you want from your storage. I haven't had the chance to try it yet but they told me that the average turn-around time for getting items you want pulled is two days! 4. The "Clutter Crew" was AMAZING! Every member of the "Clutter Crew" was professional, super respectful, honest, and kind. Check out the photos I took of me, my dog, and the Crew! When was the last time you worked with moving or storage company employees that looked happy and enthusiastic?! The Clutter org must be treating their employees well and that's important to me. b. I was very impressed by how organized the Crew was. There was a "Lead" crewmember who directed the others on what to do and how to do it. They all worked quickly and efficiently. No shortcuts, smoking, or slackers. c. They actually repacked loose items (including artwork) and damaged boxes--without me asking them to do so and at no additional charge. Nothing like the movers who begrudgingly moved my things into the Public Storage unit. Those clowns tossed my loose items in the unit and didn't bother to protect large items like my elliptical machine. Clutter, on the other hand, bubble wrapped and plasti-wrapped my elliptical machine, put a bar code sticker on it, took a photo and uploaded it to my personal catalog! d. The Lead crewmember keeps you in the loop every step of the process, informing you, while they're loading the truck, if it appears that you'll need more storage space. You can agree to upgrade on the spot, or not--no costly surprises! 5. Helpful Hints. a. If you pack your own belongings, go about it in an organized fashion. Put like items with like and label your boxes on top. This will help with the cataloging and pulling of items later. b. Clutter measures storage space in cubic footage with a constant height. I can't remember what the average height of each storage space is but it's shorter than the average height of most storage units. This is one of the reasons that they're so fastidious with their packing. You'll get the most bang for your buck if your stuff is packed well in boxes and you don't have a lot of large, irregular shaped equipment (like an elliptical machine!). c. Because your belongings are being stored in a clean warehouse, Clutter will not accept any boxes containing food, liquids, or anything flammable. They also won't take grills that haven't been thoroughly cleaned of all gunk and stray food. They found an old hotdog on the grill I had in storage! Suffice it to say, I'll have to clean that bad-boy before they'll return to the storage unit (for free!) and move into my storage area. read more

WILL TRY TO BE AS CONCISE AS POSSIBLE. We're college kids who had to go move out of our dorms and was only given a day to do it (we were also traveling the next day). We scheduled an appointment 10 DAYS IN ADVANCED and were allocated the move-out time slot of 11am-2pm. On the day, they kept telling us they were close by or on the way, only for them to call us at 2:30pm saying theyre overbooked for the day and can't come until the next day. Like I said, we were being kicked out of the dorms the next day so we only had a day to move out. When we called the customer service to ask if they could do anything about it because we were traveling and had to change all of our plans all they said was "dont know what to tell ya, either cancel or reschedule for tomorrow morning" which, to be frank, is very inconsiderate. They didnt mention anything about reimbursements until I asked, and they were prepared to give us the full month of storage for free, which is about an $80 worth (we ended up losing more bc of travel costs which they said they couldnt do anything about) We made sure to reschedule the next morning tomorrow and CLARIFIED that we would be booking the first time slot of 7-10am. We got up at 5am to drive back to the city for the move-out. At around 7:30 am they said they were "6 minutes away", they proceeded to come at 10:30 am. This was then further delayed by the fact that they said they "didnt know" about us getting the storage service for free, so we ended up having to deal with the uninformed customer service (again). We thought it was an honest mistake because it was move-out and graduation weekend, but a few days later, a friend of mine had another move-out appointment which was cancelled because Clutter said they had overbooked once again. Don't get me wrong, the movers were great, nice, patient and very helpful. I just wish the system and customer service was just as good. read more

The terms and conditions keep getting worse and worse in a way that makes me extremely uncomfortable, and they gave me a false impression of what kind of services they are prepared to offer when they signed me on. Once I own a car again, I am certainly bringing all my things back to a 24 hour storage facility that I can access myself, and not looking back to this style of storage system. This is only possibly helpful to me while I am without a personal car, and I fear I may end up losing a lot of money with this company before I am able to get my things back. At this point it would be cheaper for me to keep my things in regular storage and pay to take an Uber XL to and from the facility when I need things then to continue with clutter. The fee hikes they launched at me without warning are causing me great worry, and the appointment system is getting quite troubling. The times you can schedule a pickup are only in the mornings, and must be scheduled very far ahead of time. When I first became a customer, I could schedule one for a few days out for free. The amount of time I need to book ahead has been getting farther and farther out, and suddenly and without any warning from the company, I see today that if I wanted my belongings in less than twelve day's time, I have to pay an $80 fee for the appointment. That means if I decided today that I want to go skiing next weekend after some snow rolls through, and I want to have my skis and snow clothes delivered, I'd have to pay $80 just to have access to my stuff in time, even with planning a week ahead, which to my lifestyle is quite useless of a delivery system. Furthermore, I don't get my work schedule that far ahead of time, and I don't have a set schedule, so I can't even possibly know which day I will have off that far out. And if once my work schedule is posted and I see that I didn't happen to guess a lucky appointment window, if I forget to cancel my appointment with more than two days notice or if my schedule is posted less than two days prior, there is a $100 cancelation fee. And people with set schedules -- you're screwed too. Their only available appointment times are during most peoples' work hours -- only ever from 7AM to 2PM window start times. So you would have to do it on a day off, and sit around waiting for them to come within the appointment window which can range from 2-4 hours. They used to be very communicative with me about information via texting, but they didn't text me a thing about the new $80/appointment fee, or warn me that I need to start knowing my plans 12 days ahead of time and get a job with a set schedule in order to use their service. I learned that today when I logged in to book a n appointment for something something I really need in a week (which I will not be able to get). All that to say, the delivery men who have come to all my appointments have always been very pleasant to me and taken great care of my things, and this service was a great way to move my larger items (dresser, mattress, sofa) from my old house to my new house without paying to rent a truck, even when I did have a car. They do pack and plastic wrap things very well (however, very wasteful seeming), and the way you can log-in and see photos of each box works well, too. There are pros and cons to this company, but personally, I have missed several trips not being able to get my backpacking gear out in time for something planned a week out because I can't get their available appointments times to mesh with my personal schedule, and now I can't even fucking afford the appointments at all. After several months of using this service, I would say it is a very good option for things you wish to access only once or twice a year, but an awful system for someone like me who wants access to something here and there about once a month. I am mainly upset about this because when I was shopping for storage and I spoke to their customer service member on the phone describing wanting to get my bike dropped off and picked up for trips with about a weeks planning they said "that's a perfect use of our service" and I am here to tell you it is definitely not. I consider it a lie. I would rate the company 4 or 5 star for what it is if they advertised what kinds of services they are actually good for, but I'm rating it two because I think launching an $80 fee to access my own things without warning is awful, and I have no reason to believe these kinds of things as well as the appointment availability won't continue to get worse. I also think the fact that I described my lifestyle and needs to them in such detail before I became a customer and they signed me on only to hold all of my belongings hostage from me and mess up my lifestyle was also not OK. The false advertising of what it is they actually offer, the unwarned fee hikes, and the increasingly worsening appointment availability all give me anxiety about this company. read more

The Clutter crew consisting of Daniel, Alonzo and Felicia helped pack belongings and move them along with the furniture and bike into their storage facility at the start of the summer break. To start off They took 2 days to move my 1bedroom apartment instead of 1 day as advised because they got to my home at 4 and their cut off Time was 5. My window time was 12-3. I needed a self storage unit and found Clutter by accident. I arranged for a "container" and a few days later decided I should also make the arrangements for the pickup. I am glad I did because for the cost of what others charge for a self storage unit you get the following extras included: 1. Movers 2. Free packing materials and the employees will help you pack the items 3. They move the boxes, furniture etc. into their truck, there is no container or POD to worry about getting broken into and in a few hours all my CLUTTER was reduced to pictures and a manifest with specific tracking numbers for each item. When I need an item I request it set an appointment as the item (or all my items) will be returned. My experience with Clutter has not been what I would expect of a professional organization. When I scheduled the pick-up of my belongings from a 10x10 storage unit, I was not advised that it would be a 9 hour load. It only took 1 hour to neatly place the items in storage. Therefore, it is understandable that scheduling the return of my items would be difficult. I tried to schedule well in advance of my billing date as not to incur further charges. Unfortunately, there were no dates available. I scheduled the first available date, which was three days beyond my bills by date. I was charged for a full month no prorate or credit allowed.
