I was visiting friends in Charlotte and had a big craving for Vietnamese food. One of our other fiends really wanted sushi. we jumped on Yelp and found CO. So glad we did because it had all of the food everyone was looking for and everything wes delicious. From the chicken katsu, to the beef pho, and all the sushi. The pho broth was pretty delicious and the noodles did not disappoint. The chicken was perfectly crispy and the sauce brought all the ingredients together without being overpowering. I only tried a bite of my friends sushi, but the rice was great and the fish was awesome. The atmosphere is laid back, but fun and the decor is really warm and inviting. We really loved the centerpiece that extended from the bar out through the ceiling. It was simple, but beautiful. It's also nice that there are decent amount of tables and types of seating, but it doesn't feel overcrowded. We will definitely be stopping by again when we visit. read more

Located in a strip mall. Plenty of parking I had a mango type sushi don't remember the name and Thai chicken. The sushi was pretty good tasted fresh. But that's where the good stuff needs. The Thai chicken was a very small portion size. It came with what I thought was a salad with no salad dressing but ended up just being 1/3 of my Plate in garnish. Basic rice. The worst part was the chicken. It didn't taste like chicken or cat!!! It tasted extremely weird and chewy and like cardboard. I can't even put it in to words. The amount of disappointment for this dish. I left it on the table. Jo doggy bag for me. I have the lavender old fashioned. All you tasted was the lavender sweetener and no alcohol so that's a waste of money. The interior has a nice cool laid back vibe. Staff was kinda new at least my waitress was. This is a hidden gem like many of the spots along the park road corridor. I decided to stop in and give it a try. Very nice modern and clean ambiance. Service was great. No wait time for lunch on a Saturday. The menu has many options and they have the vegetarian options specifically marked on the menu. I enjoyed it so much because of the vegetarian sushi options that where robust with flavor and ingredients and were more than the average cucumber and avocado. Highly recommend the Buddha roll. Also tried the ginger martini and they seem to use really fresh ingredients for their drinks so it was refreshing and provided for the perfect photo opp. I'll try a tequila option the next time. Great for a casual day outing or a nice light dinner date. I'll become a regular. read more

We visited Co just the other day since my daughter loves sushi so much. I've had this on my list to try forever, and we finally found ourselves in Charlotte at dinner time! Unfortunately, we were pretty underwhelmed by the food. Co is a pretty hip place that's beautiful inside. My favorite design feature is the beautifully curved wooden beams emanating from the ceiling. Really dramatic and special! They also offer outdoor seating. There are tons of high-top tables with stools but we were lucky to score a normal height table with chairs. I hate stools that don't have a place for your feet to prop on, so uncomfortable. Co was voted as the #1 place to possibly spot a Panther. I don't know about that, but I do know the place was popping. That indicates that they do have a great business and perhaps we just visited on an off night. The service was great, though, even with the few hiccups we experienced. The great thing about Co is that they have all of these great specials during happy hour during the week. That kind of explained why they were so slammed. There are about 15 things on the happy hour menu that are offered at a discount, and some 1/2 price. We were able to try quite a few things this way. We tried the Pork Belly Bun and the Spicy Crab Rangoon. Both were really delicious and we should've stuck with the happy hour menu. The Pork Belly Bun was the best I've had, with the pork belly being so crispy and flavorful. The crab rangoon was great too, creamy and spicy. For our mains, we had sushi and Bahn mi. The sushi roll was great, but the Bahn mi was lacking. The katsu chicken bahn mi was great, but the Korean Short Rib was so salty I couldn't eat it. And I love salt, so that is really saying something. For dessert, we ordered Strawberry Spring Rolls and Crispy Cheesecake Wontons. The kids loved them both. I thought they were lacking real flavor. The Strawberry Spring Rolls did not have a strawberry flavor at all, but the Nutella dipping sauce was delicious. The Crispy Cheesecake Wontons had a strong orange flavor that the kids didn't enjoy, but I did. The creme Anglaise they say comes with it tastes suspiciously like vanilla pudding. I didn't like that. Another knock is that 2 of the wontons were actually filled with MEAT instead of cheesecake..an honest mistake because they did look similar, but imagine dragging that through the Nutella and creme Anglaise and then popping it into your mouth. Needless to say, we were done after that. We left feeling unsatisfied and disappointed. I think this place has some definite good points and judging by other reviews, perhaps others have great experiences. I, however, did not on this visit. The food is okay...definitely not worth the price. There was some sort of leak in the ceiling that was directly over our table, leaking mystery water all over my person and our food. Full disclaimer: I've only been here once and sampled the chicken pho and pad tai. I like to give places more of a chance but I'm not a local so this is it. With that being said, I'm torn. Disappointing, I know. I wanted to love this place. I really did. The ambience, the upscale vibe, the mostly-full tables. But the pho was underwhelming. When you take a sip of a good pho, you are transported to a warm, cozy place in another dimension. Not really, but it's a heavenly and tasty experience. When I sipped CO's I tasted...pepper. Even when I threw in extra cilantro--still pepper. What a bummer. Oh, and my sprouts were wilted and browned. Bigger bummer as far as points for quality. We love CO in Waverly and this location did not disappoint. The decor was really nice - I loved the ceiling art. Our server Drea was fantastic - attentive, helpful, and on top of things. Our food was amazing - we all ordered sushi. We also had the dumpling appetizer which was outstanding. For the sushi, we tried the Spicy Tuna Crunch, Tuna Tataki, Thai salmon, Pork belly (soooo good and spicy!), and the bang bang shrimp. I normally go for a mix of sushi and Pad Thai at CO, but we were headed to a concert and didn't want to feel too stuffed! Everyone has a fantastic experience. We can't wait to come back. Okay so first tips & tricks...go on Monday or Wednesday for $5 martinis (Monday) and $5 cocktails (Wednesday). All day! Yummmm. Cant beat that price! I tried the Lychee martini and it was good! Also tried the dark n' peach cocktail which is whiskey based and also really good! The inside of this place looks super cool, with a big wooden tree in the middle that goes across the ceiling. Looks and feels clean. Friendly and knowledgeable staff! Food wise their pho to my surprise was pleasantly good, I usually only get ramen from futa buta. Sushi was alright, think I'd pick a different roll next time and sadly I don't recall the name of the one we tried. Appetizer the spicy crab rangoon and spring rolls are bomb. Go between 4-7pm any Monday-Friday and they have happy hour prices on apps. I also love that they have pad Thai on the kids menu for $6-7 dollars and it's a huge portion. Asian food is practically my life so of course I was excited to come here while I was visiting a friend in Charlotte. After a full day of brewery hopping the day before, the only thing I had on my mind was a big bowl of noodle soup. Atmosphere: super trendy and hip on the inside. With this massive beautiful piece of wood architecture that starts at the bar and makes its way up across the ceiling. It almost looks like a giant tree trunk with its branches covering the whole top. The seats are comfortable, the kitchen is open in the back so you can see what's going on and the bar looks really nice. I would say this is good date material. Service: 4/5 customer service was great. They offered suggestions, refilled my water, and were very nice. Price: 3.5/5 the prices here are a bit higher than other places with Asian fusion food. But because they do offer a variety of items and because the restaurant does look and feel a lot nicer than a hole in the wall type of place I guess I can understand. Their appetizers are $8 and under, dishes can go up to $18. Food: - 4/5 kimchi dumplings: this was sooo good. It was $6 for 4 dumplings which I think is kinda overpriced. But the taste was definitely there. The filling was moist but it was the dumpling sauce that it was in that was the real winner. I could drink that stuff. It was soy sauce based but a bit sweet and acidic that balanced well with everything else. - 3/5 spicy pho: let's be real. This was basically a bun bo hue but not as good. And I LOVE bun bo hue. The rare beef slices were super thick which is not something I'm used to in my Viet soups (they're usually thinner so they cook quickly in the hot broth when mixed). The soup was super oily and a bit sweet which was a bit weird. The noodles were good but everything else was just okay. Nothing special. I honestly wouldn't get this again. I do hear great things about the drunken noodle and pad Thai. So if I were ever to be back, I would probably try those! read more

What more can I say about CO, we love this place when we may want Sushi and maybe not and have a noodle bowl, Pho or one of the many other choices. The food has always been good but the only reason for the 4 stars is of course service this place changes staff more often than I change my under garments. (I know what your thinking, Yes everyday! lol) It is cleaning, the hostess staff has been pretty regular but they are not the friendliest or welcoming or inviting, but ignore them and sit for a pleasant dining experience. I really like Saki, they always have a good wine for the wife. If I recall correctly the the grade was in the mid to high 90's. Walking in this place was SUPER cute and adorable!! The environment was very upscale! Greeted and seated with the quickness. A friend a I came on a Monday evening for dinner. Wasn't super busy but the food took a good while to come out. The server apologized repeatedly for the kitchen hold up. It wasn't her fault. Out food did get mixed up with another table, and they ended up getting their food before us even though we had gotten there way earlier. Again, she apologized and the manager took care of us without us complaining. Very nice of them. I ordered the five spice shredded pork tacos for appetizers, which were absolutely amazing!! Pretty cool looking space, from the outside I wasn't expecting much. They did well with the seating, I had assumed there would be a wait on a crowded Thursday, but we were seated right away. As others have said, service was a little slow, but not as bad as others have said. We ordered a bit of food, so that kept us occupied. The pork belly buns were good but could have used more hoisin. They were probably my favorite out of all we ordered. My spicy udon noodles did have good flavor but the steak was over cooked and for the price I expected more noodles. My fiancé got the Vietnamese ramen. We both thought it was okay but lacked a "punch" even with the spice bomb that you can request. Also, too much noodles and the eggs tasted odd. I am not sure if we would come back (we've had better at other places serving similar food in Charlotte) but if we did I would probably try sushi next time. I had been wanting to try this place since it opened but hadn't gotten around to it. I had heard mixed reviews, but it still looked good. I was excited when it got picked for a team lunch. We were seated right away with a large group and no reservations. Unfortunately they were out of several tea options that one of my co-workers tried to order. The menu is huge. Trying to decide what to order was so hard because everything looked good. I ended up getting way too much food because I was bad at deciding what I wanted. Luckily I got help eating some of it. I started with mango summer rolls. They were very refreshing and delicious. They came with a fairly big portion too. For my main course, I got three Curry Laska and the Firecracker roll. The Firecracker roll was really good. The Curry Laksa was amazing. It's one of my favorite dishes I've had at a restaurant in Charlotte. It's a huge portion and has a good heat to it. For dessert I got tempura bananas which were amazing as well. I tired some of my co-workers Drunken Noodles and Wonton Cheesecake both of which were very good. Everyone really liked what they got. Then we had two orders of the Curry Laksa and then one order of Pho and I just had a small bowl of broth. The laksa was amazing. The broth and then the pho was a bit off.
