I had brunch here on the weekend with some friends and I was pleasantly surprised. The diner has a very old school appearance, both outside and inside, and the décor definitely lives up to its name. Very "country". The food was really good - I had the Country Breakfast with sausages, over easy eggs, and crispy bacon. Everything was cooked to my liking and the quality of the ingredients was great. I swapped the standard toast and cubed potatoes for two pancakes and they were massive! I had to pack up most of my meal to take home. The coffee was really good, not bitter at all (which I find is often the case at some breakfast places). Service was excellent, as they were very well organized and kept our coffees and waters filled. The restaurant was packed by the time we left, so clearly they're very popular. Would definitely recommend this spot for brunch or casual meal. read more

They have an early bird (6:30am-8:30am) breakfast special for $14.95 includes coffee. However the waitress never mentioned the special and I was seated at 7:50am. Most people that were dining here got the early bird special. Maybe next time I'll get it next time. Today I ordered the Turkey Benny. It has carved turkey in it. It tasted pretty good. Went for the Christmas full meal. party of 9. 4 of us were served fairly quickly but the rest waited over 10 minutes to be served. Take out and delivery orders went out frequently. Turkey tasted overcooked or reheated. Not great. Very small container of cranberry sauce. Dressing was a few bread cubes with spices. Gravy was delicious. Came time for pumpkin pie desserts and were told they didn't have any. 1 person at the table had a burger and was sick multiple times after. Not a place I would recommend or go back to. read more

We have dined here before, but perhaps there was a bit of a kitchen issue this time. Yesterday (Remembrance Day) we went for breakfast. I just ordered the bacon and eggs. My friend ordered a larger meal. Mine came with 3 or 4 greasy sausages dripping on top of everything. The server said "I don't know why she did that" (I assume, referring to the cook). I gave them to my friend. He already had ham, bacon and sausages on his plate and his ham was ice cold. Everything else was hot except for the hash browns which were raw in the middle. Mine were too. The eggs have that "cooked on an unclean grill" look and were mottled black on the bottom. We used to go occasionally and I would like to think that this was just a bad day. Not very fancy place but "old is gold" phrase is perfectly suitable for this tiny brunch house. They are famous in the area for the catering and it is all because they have the most amazing and sincere cooks. When you eat the food prepared, you can taste their love and dedication in preparation. Quite spacious and good customer service. Regular tea and coffee is served bottomless. Its a real simple diner style ambiance which is refreshingly nice. The service is warm, friendly, efficient, and excellent. The coffee is excellent and most of the food is really good made in a simple wholesome style. Pancakes are big and fluffy, but waffles were served in mixed pieces some hot and some cold. Eggs are just average, but they have a nice touch on two styles of breakfast potatoes that seem to be prepared from scratch vs preprocessed like so many other restaurants these days. The beef dip sandwich was excellent quality but very small. Fries are better than most of the over seasoned junk served by the competition, and all of the sandwiches like open faced turkey or beef with gravy are pure comfort food. Prices are a little high for what you get, but it's still a great place to go. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Was greeted promptly and offered drinks right away. My husband had the coffee and I tried it a bit, it wasnt strong enough for us, unfortunately. We both really enjoyed our food! He had the veggie burger and I had the veggie sandwich with fries. Both were super fresh tasting, crisp vegetables, lots of flavour. this place use to be an excellent place to eat , We use to eat here every weekend as the food and service was excellent. in the past six months the place has gone way down in service and quality of food. We were regulars but not anymore after todays lack of service and poor quality of food. We will look where to eat. The servers use to check your to see if you wanted your coffee refreshed or wanted more water. The staff use to be friendly and welcoming. Now you have to call staff over and are treated as if you are an interruption in their day. The food use to be delicious and you looked forward to eating it. Today's coconut pie tasted like flavoured gelatin. They use to have homemade pies and delicious meals but in my opinion that is no longer what they do. I use to like their soups , but today's vegetables soup was more like " would you like soup with your salt. wondered if they dumped a whole bag of salt in the pot, added a smidgen of water, vegetable broth and called it soup. Best advice I can provide is spend your hard earned money elsewhere rather than regretting having stopper here to eat, your stomach will thank you. read more

Servers are friendly, efficient, and polite, always ready with a coffee refill. The portion sizes are generous, and the kitchen is always happy to customize my order due to my dietary restrictions. This review is based on customer service and not food. Called on Sun @ about 3:15 to ask what time they would seat until as they close at 4. The lady said we close @ 4 so you can come in until 4. Asked again to double check and was told 4. Got there right before 330 and the lady came to the door,rudely states "we are closed " . So I tell her I called, we were told 4. Again in a brisk rude tone says "no kitchen closed " zero customer service skills , rude & would not go back to try the food, need to be more accurate on the information they provide. read more

Driven past here several times but this was the first time we stopped. Looking into options for a catering company for my work Christmas lunch, and so I thought I would pop in and taste what they have to offer. Saturday morning, busy but we were seated immediately. My son ordered steak & eggs, and I ordered the "British Truckers" breakfast. Both entrees were DELICIOUS. Bacon was perfectly cooked, so was the steak. Portions were HUGE but we managed to stuff ourselves full because the taste was so good. Waitresses were all very friendly and service was very fast. Family run home style comfort food restaurant - food is always good and reasonably priced. Been coming here 3 or more years and it's a good place to have breakky. Meh. My pet peeve is eggs that have been cooked too quickly on high heat giving them a very unpleasant sulfur taste. Ick. I ordered the Denver breakfast sandwich. The eggs were browned. It was dry. I also drive past this establishment quite a few times going to and from Surrey and it seems to be constantly busy. I always wondered why. So I dropped by for breakfast when they just opened and ordered their British Trucker's breakfast with pancakes. When I got it it looked and tasted ok. It tastes like something I would've made myself with my unskilled culinary hands at home. Their coffee was a little on the weak side as well. To me, when I go to a restaurant, I expect the food to look and taste a lot better than what I would eat at home but its food never stood out to me. At least their free wifi was strong and fast and their service was ok. I'll probably come back there again one day. Based from my experience there, I still don't see why it is always busy. read more

Greeted right away by the friendly hostess/server Jessica. A++ I'm here because of the great reviews. They weren't wrong. Good selection of breakfast items. So much to choose from. I ordered the 6oz strip sirloin and eggs that comes with home style fries and sourdough toast and delicious coffee. All good, prepared fresh and seasoned nicely on the strip loin. Yes I had it medium rare and they did cook it right. I really wanted to try some pancakes but I really gotta watch my intake. Maybe next time because I will be back most definitely. Jessica's courteous, professional and friendly manner remained consistent with all the customers. I noticed it was mostly seniors who came in. Mind you I came in around 1-130pm. They catered my wedding in 2013. The service was excellent and very professional. I never even heard them set up and didnt disturb any of the guest. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. I hired them after I went to a friends wedding they catered and my matron of honor has hired them since my wedding. Excellent reviews from my guests. read more
