My family and I have been long time fans of Fresgos, my husband grew up eating here! He's been a customer for 40+ years. We went on a Friday evening and the place was dead. This should have been a warning! Cleanliness was subpar, it looked like the tables hadn't been wiped, there were crumbs everywhere. I ordered the Philly submarine, which was almost $17 and came with no sides. The sandwich was literally the size of a standard hot dog. The flavour was okay but it was extremely salty. My husband ordered the beef dip, which looked like someone stepped on it. The meat was super dry with absolutely no flavour. Unfortunately this restaurant will never be the same. Wow after over 30+ years whether Davies street location or Surrey location, today's experience was the worst ever. Ralf has left fresgos and business especially customer service has gone downhill. It's been a minute I'm in town due to family and decided to order takeout. Fresgos has new owners and staff and it's sad to not see any of the old faces like before. We placed the order online on the fresgo website and they took the payment and showed up and the girl at the cash register looked at me like I was crazy. Asked which platform we ordered off of and told her Zumi which is the payment processor on their website and she told us basically TOL bad call them we don't use their services anymore. WTF?! Spent over 20 minutes trying to solve this because she wouldn't get me any manager and told me contact the payment company. The payment company doesn't even answer the phone and I'm asking myself and her why am I doing this when payments already taken out and she should be contacting the company and removing it from their website. What does she want me to process the order and grill the food too? Isn't this their issue? I did what any normal customer would do and place an order, make payment and then expect my food, not attitude from someone who doesn't seem to give two shits or fuxks about customer service. Ralf wouldn't let this slide that's all i can say. Prices up, service is down. Won't be coming back ever again. Save yourself a headache waste of time and some money in your pocket unless you want rude ungrateful bitches to serve and handle your food. read more

Over 30 yrs. a regular diner, yesterday will sadly be "last" visit. TOO MANY RED FLAGS. *- Only 1 other couple in Fresgo eating the entire time we were there. No one else entered. It was before 6-7 pm, dinnertime. *- Long wait, 25-30 mins. just for double mushroom burger. Food was COLD on plate. MEAGER Beef(?) Patties were 1/3 thickness, 1/2 diam., hidden in bun. Mushrooms were black, OVERCOOKED, rubbery, fries were DRY. What a difference from what it use to be! *- Cooking kitchen area was "covered up" with partition, no longer able to see food prepared. *- Broken toilet flush handle (ladies washroom) small "METAL DOOR KEY" stuck there ... as replacement??? Unable to turn, so left unflushed! *- No Longer "Filtered" water (the sign "filtered" removed) and dispensed water was WARM, NOT even cold. Unique old school diner. I recently visited for the first time ever, but friends have the nostalgia factor of eating Fresgo as children when it was located in Vancouver. Portions are massive, and include choice of side dishes. Quality is okay - everything tasted fresh. There is no table service. You order at the front counter, get a buzzer, and pick up your food when it's ready. All the condiments and extras are laid out for you to help yourself. They have an assortment of desserts for purchase. Cookies and packaged items, as well as cakes and pies. Ambiance feels like an Uncle Willy's. A little dank but with its own charm. Neon lights, old tables and chairs, nothing fancy going on here. Parking lot is shared with other businesses but it's free and plenty of spaces available. read more

Sadly I've had two meals here since ownership changed. I'm a huge fan of diners and at least a 30 year patron of Fresgo Inn, both the Davie Street location and this King George one. I won't be returning. Too much has changed for the worse in terms of food quality and lack of maintenance of their Surrey location. The burgers not being fresh any longer and being reduced in size while the prices continue to rise as with other restaurants is not sustainable - they need to up their game if they want to continue to do business. Go back to fresh (not frozen,) ingredients and return to generous portions or the few customers that you have left will also leave you, like my family and I have. That's the only advice I can offer the owner. Very sad to have to write this. :( read more

Wow, beef sub, & mushroom burger onion rings, peach drink tasted exactly the same as the original Fresgos on Davie street from the 80's of course prices are much higher as everywhere else, however the portion size was the same, I had to sit in their restaurant for 2 hours while my stomach digested my beef sub, with 4, or 5 peach drinks, while my friend had the mushroom burger, if I'm in their area again, I'm coming back again. I've been a loyal customer at Fresgos for 30+ years and have always had a positive experience. Last night, while dining with my wife and mother-in-law, I witnessed a scene involving the a women having a angry outburst cause her child didn't like his food. They left a review accusing the owner, Walter, of screaming at them, but that isn't true; the only person shouting was the reviewer's wife. My wife also had the Fettuccine Alfredo and, contrary to their complaint, it was delicious. The way the reviewer's wife treated the staff was unacceptable and a poor example for their children. I want to express my gratitude to Walter and his team for their continued excellent service. I look forward to many more enjoyable meals at Fresgos. read more

Love it, I have been going to this place since the 80's, fortunately they have updated a bit since then. The food is great and you get huge portions. The atmosphere is as you'd expect a typical greasy spoon to be, very clean with lots of 80's nostalgia. The place is always full of locals you line up pay and wait for your food, you get a little disc that buzzes and lights up when your food is ready. I would give Fresgo Inn Restaurant a 3. I have noticed this place for a while, but never got the chance to try until today. This restaurant has a different vibe. As you walk in you will see a selection of desserts, drinks, and a counter to order food with menus displayed. We ordered the fettuccine with a side of poutine. The fettuccine was very saucy and runny, not much flavour. I didn't enjoy the chicken being a teriyaki flavour. The two flavours together is not a good mix. Definitely would not order that again. The side cesar salad that came with it was very saucy. The poutine was great. It had the perfect amount of cheese and gravy. Pro tip: Ask them to leave out the lettuce because they will fill the sandwich with more meet. And my friend is right. This place has the best submarine sandwich I have ever tasted! Wonderful. The reason I rate this place so high is the food is pretty good, but even more surprising is the unreal portion size of the meals. Most of their meals can feed 2 and sometimes 3 people. The value is worth every penny. Apparently Fresgo's has been around for years and I only just discovered this little gem thanks to some friends. They serve all sorts of food from sandwiches to burgers, pastas and steak, breakfast to dessert. This place has you covered. So far I've tried the Philly cheese steak and the meatball sub both very good. Also the Schnitzel which is enough for 2 meals. The side Caesar salad is a meal in itself. Desserts are made in house as well. You can even buy whole pies or cakes. You pick your food and order upfront. Once ready they buzz you and you pick it up. I almost guarantee you'll have leftovers. I finally made my way to try the legendary mushroom burger. My date and I made our way here in a weekend and it was surprisingly busy. The 80's vibe seemed very intentional, but the restaurant appeared quite clean and tidy. It was cafeteria style service. We placed our order and seated ourselves. The mushroom burger was impressive. The pile of mushroom was fantastic and made any competition's mushroom burger quite sad looking. The hamburger bun was soft. I found the meat patty to be on the thin side and would have preferred a thicker patty. Fries were alright. They seemed like they were fried in advance and did not have the crisp, pipping hot texture you get with straight from the fryer fries. It would have been nice if the condiments were at the table and not at a station by the food pick up area. There was also a mini display of bakery goods you can purchase. I was too full to try the any of the desserts, but some of the items did look tempting. If you are into the greasy spoon diner experience, this is worth a visit. Prices are average.
