Last week, my one year old very expensive Speed Queen (SQ) dryer, which apparently even the guys at the firehouse can't kill, stopped heating. With a mystery on my hands and rage in my heart, I had multiple interactions with SQ. They initiated a ticket with a local service provider, whom I immediately yelped and learned were widely despised! No way! When I found that Coast Appliance Services, with their incredible reviews, were an alternate option for Speed Queen servicing, I jumped at the chance to work with these folks. My initial phone call was quick, easy, and friendly. I received the confirmation call I expected the day before my appointment and was thrilled that they had noted and were trying to accommodate my work schedule. The day of, I received a 20-30 minutes to arrival text and found Edgar in my driveway exactly within that window. Edgar was super professional, efficient, and effective, and the work area was so clean that even my pack of pit bulls, who needed to do a full investigation of Edgar's work after he left, couldn't find anything weird to snack on or track around the house. Amazing! I really appreciated that in a stressful situation, Edgar and this team were so on the ball and keen to explain what they found, what would happen, and that I could call them directly for any future issues. An added bonus? Our dryer dries again! Life is way easier when your dryer just, you know, dries. For those annoying times when it doesn't, I recommend contacting these folks immediately. I called another repair company who came to my home, and quoted me over $700 to replace my battery and battery encasement. The man was very young, and I suspected he had no clue what was wrong. I paid the mandatory $100 service fee and said no thank you. (See my other review) Then I called Coast Appliance! They came over right away (father and son, nice family business) and had a look. Within 10 minutes- he tells me I had a loose fan that was knocking around!! He tightened some screws, and VOILA my noise is gone!!! He didn't charge me anything besides the service fee!! I have a Speed Queen washing machine whose door mechanism broke and the inability to do my laundry after a 2.5 week trip was driving me crazy. I called Coast after looking up servicers on the Speed Queen website and checking reviews. I left a message right when they opened in hopes they'd come out asap and Edgar called me back not too long afterward and arranged to come out the next day. Unfortunately, they didn't have 1 of the 2 parts my machine needed so they had to arrange another visit to complete the repair. That was on a Friday and they already had the part by Tuesday. Edgar came back out Thursday and fixed it and now it works even better than before. Previously, the door lock mechanism worked intermittently but now it's run 6 cycles straight without issue. I reprogrammed it, but the water did not come on. After several attempts I called Maytag service center for a referral. After a long hold they provided a company with licensed Maytag technicians. I called the company. Another long hold. Finally I was told no appointments were available today, but I would receive notice for an appointment later that day, my second option. I agreed. After that call, I went to Yelp for their ratings. I couldn't believe it! More than half of the recent ratings were one star for various reasons. I canceled my appointment request. My neighbor suggested Coastal Appliance Service services. Edgar had recently serviced their Maytag washer and were very pleased with the results. Edgar ID my issue. Problem fixed. Got a prompt response from the front office -- super friendly and polite and able to offer me a next business day appointment. Edgar showed up on time with a text ahead. Showed him the video of the issue which I knew would be a bit of a conundrum. He spent time pulling the machine apart to check all moving parts and to verify everything was in good working condition. Although we were unable to replicate the exact issue, he acknowledged that it had occurred and assured me that the machine was in great operational state (which I had believed to be the case). My dryer broke after I put a sopping wet king sized pillow in and tried to dry it. Lesson learned! At least it was fixable. Edgar came promptly at 8:00 AM the morning after I got ahold of them through yelp. He was very professional and courteous. I highly recommend Coast Appliance! My LG refrigerator was making squeaky sounds and I needed LG technician to come out and diagnose the issue. I was recommended to CAS and I'm here to recommend them to others, as well! To start off, Janelle (or is it Jeannette? and my apologies if I didn't get her name correct!) is THE NICEST AND SWEETEST PERSON EVER! She was so helpful on the phone and just very sincere. Have you ever spoken to someone who just sounds like they hate their job? Well she sounds like she wakes up with the sun beaming down on here from the moment she opens her eyes! :) CAS originally didn't have any openings for me and she recommended another technician in Tustin. However, she called me later with a cancellation for the next day, which I happily accepted. Then she called me shortly afterwards as they had a cancellation for the same day! Edgar came out in the afternoon and had the compressor on my LG fridge fixed in no time at all. The LG French door fridges are notorious for having their compressor go out and mine was no exception. Luckily, CAS said that mine could be replaced with just having to cover the labor for the repair. Edgar was helpful with my questions and very friendly. He was super clean and let me know what he was about to do with the repair before doing it. I can't say enough good things about this company! They are top notch and deserve high ratings and warm compliments! I recently had a terrible experience with a different company who totally mislead me about their quote, scratched the whole side of my refrigerator when they pulled it out, left my door cockeyed and said I needed a repair that I did not! I finally asked them to leave without finishing because they were so rough and so rude to me and I became so uncomfortable with them arguing with me (two against one) in my own home! So, that meant I had to go back to square one and start all over! I was not happy and found out that company had tons of bad reviews ('My Appliance Service' 800-828-0887 I don't recommend them!). While researching more carefully and reading many reviews I was lucky enough to find Coast Appliance Services. Review after review said how wonderful they are! After explaining my horrible experience to Jeanette, who was SO sweet and listened patiently, she understood I was still feeling apprehensive and upset but she totally gave me a new confidence that my experience with Coast would be different, and it was...completely! Jeanette was so kind and answered all my questions so I could tell she was very knowledgeable and experienced. It's SO wonderful when the person answering the phone knows so much and has it together. She booked my appointment with Edgar who I learned later was also a professional, all the way! Then, I had something come up unexpectedly and I had to change my appointment but Jeanette did it cheerfully, no attitude, just helpful all the way and had no problem making me one of the later appointments of the day to so I could make sure I got home in time. On my appointment day, Edgar called and gave me a heads up that he was on his way and about 15-20 minutes away. Once he arrived, he was able to diagnose the problem right away with my LG ice-maker, wrote up a clear estimate with all the part numbers and itemized prices (transparency is so nice and helpful because again, I did some research and Coast's prices were fair and the going rate-my trust was building back). During our next appointment Edgar installed the new ice maker, easy peasy, and it started making ice that night. Unfortunately, after a few days I realized this wasn't the only problem I had going on, which could not have shown up until the ice maker was replaced. So, Edgar had to come back out and found that I had a blockage in the freezer door hose. Sadly, the hose that was blocked is permanently sealed inside the door...a design flaw by LG! You have to buy a whole new door to repair it which costs almost $1K big ones! Ouch! Edgar could see my disappointment and so he offered to try one last fix. He went to his truck and returned with a portable steamer and proceeded to force steam through the blocked hose which took some time and patience (btw-this was on a Friday night at closing! Now there is an example of excellent customer service and someone going the extra mile for you!). He wasn't sure if this fix was going to work permanently but after a bit he was able to clear the line and that night ice maker started working but alas...a few days later the line became clogged again. That was not his fault but I wanted to make sure you all understood that he went way out of his way for me! He did not give up easily and I was so impressed with his caring customer service and so grateful for his efforts. I could not have asked for better. On top of everything else Edgar decided not to charge me for another service call which definitely helped ease the outcome. Edgar and Jeanette, I thank you SO much and want you to know I think you are the best! You are both truly valued and appreciated...and this customer will be returning, as well as referring you and Coast Appliance Services, every opportunity I get! read more

Edgar is a joke, the guy tried to charge my aunt $500 for LABOR...just for labor to replace the fridge compressor She has an LG fridge which is known for crappy compressor, was told by LG that we needed to have certified tech to make sure it's a compressor, then tech would order the compressor straight from LG at no cost since it's under 10-year warranty, we would then pay for labor which was told by LG $100-200. I've been in the same scenario before w my LG fridge which I paid $200 for the labor. He told my aunt he has the compressor ready if she wants it done today for $500. I was shocked to hear it and told my aunt not to do anything. She asked him to order the compressor from LG which he wouldn't. She ended up paying him $75 for him to come out.
