I had a wonderful experience with the Coast Dental team for a recent zirconia crown here in Mandarin. Dr. Sonavane was wonderful and a perfectionist! I appreciate it very much when striving to achieve excellent results for my smile. Her assistant Maggie worked so well with her, and the communication between them put me at ease. The admin side also hit it out of the park! Amy called me in right away when my crown came in, and was so helpful with the insurance hoops I needed to go through prior to the appointment. She clarified all proposed expenses and helped me upgrade to a better quality option. Most of all, I appreciated that they had the time needed to make the whole experience feel personalized. I have an update to my review. Since I have posted my original review the company has resolved our issue. I am very thankful for the resolve but I am still disapointed because I feel as if this whole situation was unnecessary. My parents were going to pay the outstanding bill until I got involved and to me that is dishonest. How can you sleep at night knowing you are taking advantage of two elderly folks who have expressed their low income situation. Someone there was working on commission and didn't care what it takes to get those extra $5-$10. My parents will be going to another dentist from this point forward and I will be going to every dental appointment for them. This should not be how a business operates. read more

This place is a scam. Stay away. There is not even a dentist at this location at anytime since February of 2023. The entire business model is to lie to patients about the gravity or the severity of possible issues with their teeth and gums so they can upsell you for supposed treatments and equipment that you do not need. If you decline their "non-dentist treatment recommendations" they want patients to sign a disclaimer in an attempt to scare patients into authorizing the unnecessary treatment. Poor patient service, poor billing department, low quality. They code treatments incorrectly (to get more money), choose more expensive treatments on purpose and make you get unnecessary treatments done to get the most money from you. I caught It that they coded and submitted my treatments incorrectly to my insurance. I took It in my own hands to get this correctly submitted to my insurance. This alone was a 3 months long process. Once my treatment was correctly coded, I was told I overpaid. My insurance sent my reimbursement to Coast Dental. Coast Dental NEVER sent me my reimbursement to this day, even though they promised they would. Been chasing them for more than 6 months , and nothing happens. I have read that this has happened to hundreds , if not thousands other patients across the country who used Coast Dental. One word: SCAMMERS! read more

My daughter was in desperate need of a cleaning and had also chipped her front tooth. This place was close to us and took our insurance. I didn't see the negative reviews until after I had already booked the appointments; when I had called initially we were given appointments for a week out which was awesome.. many other places could not see my daughter for several weeks. The office must have had a turnaround in the past few months bc my experience was nothing close to the other reviews. Front desk checked us in quickly & was very friendly. We did not wait long at all in the lobby. My daughter was able to get x rays and her teeth cleaned; dentist was able to put together a plan to fix her front tooth. We never had to video chat as other reviews noted. I spoke with the dentist face to face. We came back for the fix less then 2 weeks after that. The dentist and assistant were so kind and worked so hard to fix my daughter's tooth. They took so much care to insure that it looked good and that it would last. I am beyond happy with the results & overall had an amazing experience with this office. Billing was seamless too; I was never pressured to purchase anything outside of what my insurance covers nor was I even asked. If there was an option for less than zero I would have used it. I walked out before being seen as there was no one at the desk for 10 minutes. When someone in a white coat appeared without any greeting I continued to wait for the receptionist who left her personality at home. She proceeded to make a personal call (on speaker... why not ?) and checked me in by asking me to fill out online check in documents. Side note- cleaning teeth should not involve spreadsheets of personal health problems. There should be an option to give zero stars. They double book appointments. I waited over 40 minutes to be seen. Then discover there is no dentist there-instead some dentist from somewhere gets on zoom and talks to you for about 30 seconds-loud enough for the entire office to hear your medical information which in my opinion is a HIPAA violation. Then they refuse to clean your teeth unless you agree to some crazy treatment plan which of course is not covered by your insurance. Scam! read more

First, be advised that this is a telemedicine practice. You will not physically see the dentist unless you go on Saturday. I spent, at most, 45-60 seconds with the dentist who did very little to weigh in with her professional assessment of my dental health. My dental insurance pays for a free exam & cleaning every six months. I was told that my recommended cleaning was $176 after my dental plan kicked in. Who made that recommendation? I literally had ZERO plaque on my teeth? The level of cleaning I require should not be based on a static timeframe, when I had my last deep cleaning, or some algorithm. This is why you need an actual dentist in the office. I refused to pay the $176. Imagine paying $176 per visit times two visits per year times four family members. That would cost $1400 per year for something that is covered by insurance. I said that I wanted to end my visit & I walked out. I called up to get a copy of my X-rays. This is a "cookie cutter" business that does not individually assess the needs of the patient. The recommendations are not made by a dentist. This is the single worst dental experience I have ever had. I feel qualified to say so since I am a physician & don't operate this way. read more

The last cleaning that I had cost me nearly $400. That is absolutely absurd. I saw a dentist once. They wanted a root canal because they were unsure they could treat a cavity without it. I found a new dentist. My cleanings don't cost anything above my insurance and they fixed the cavity without a root canal. Obviously, their dentists are not as talented as those at other practices. Untrustworthy and a waste of time. There's a reason that this location only has 2.5 stars. The organization is lacking, and care is either overly ambitious (suggesting things outside of insurance coverage), or negligent (missing important things and rescheduling repeatedly, to only find it unnecessary. Overall, the word I have for this location is "incompetent". I did have a gum irrigation that was very through and surprisingly gently. At my first appointment (I was coming for second opinion from drill happy dentist claiming I needed 17 fillings (which I found suspect). The dentist at this location suggested only that my 20 year old amalgams should be replaced because they were beginning to wear down. That sounded reasonable compared to the first suggestion. 4 replacement fillings instead of 17 fillings. Then, I was rescheduled 3 times, to go in today and the dentist said they looked more cosmetic on replacement and insurance wouldn't cover it. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! She was the one that recommended it! Then claims to have forgotten that conversation. Constructive criticism: take better notes!. I find myself exposing things 4-5 times (the office management, assistant, hygienist, scheduler, dentist). Just get organized and get on the same page. The dentist didn't even come back to take responsibility, she sent the insurance manager to explain. If this was the case, why waste hours of my life rescheduling for something UNNECESSARY? it's frustrating. Then, I found that the office would request a procedure or prescription and when I told them I'm not doing anything that insurance didn't cover, they'd find a different way. Word to the wise: if they recommend some pricey mouth wash for $20, tell them you don't have the money and they'll send a script to the pharmacy so you can pick up for free. Don't want to pay for fluoride because you can't afford it? Say you can't and they find a way to make it happen for free. It's very suspect to me how much they want to squeeze out of you financially. It makes it all very untrustworthy. How can't I trust want is essential and what is based off their mood to drill or not drill on a given day? I know Medicaid doesn't pay well, so many places don't take it. I believe a majority of Medicaid dentists are suspect. If you're on Medicaid, dental Options are slim. If you don't have to go here, DON'T. You'll waste your time, or blindly follow an untrustworthy business. One positive: the women's at the front desk was consistently nice each of the 4 times I was there. Do better, everyone else, GET ORGANIZED. Communicate better! From the moment you walk in it's all a sales pitch. $89 for an oral cancer screening. $149 for a cleaning that my insurance covers 100% BUT allegedly I NEED the extras that they don't cover. A white board near the panel X-ray machine lists a $35,000 "goal". I could not recommend this office less. They are here for the sales. Know your insurance benefits and watch your wallet!! My wife and I had cleanings in May and were told that our insurance didn't cover fluoride treatment so we agreed to pay and extra $23 each. When I reviewed my insurance explanation of benefits I saw that the insurance did in fact pay them for fluoride and waited a few weeks to get reimbursed, nothing. So I contacted the office and inquired about a refund and was assured it would be taken care of, waited again, and called again and again and again being assured several times that the refund would be paid in two weeks, this happened over and over with many different excuses. It's now November and I have been reimbursed $20.79 of the $46 overcharge. With all of the alternatives available I think that you could do better than getting ripped off by this place. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I'm a doctor myself so I rarely leave reviews as I understand how badly it can affect a business. I had my appointment here yesterday and I am still appalled. The visit was very unprofessional from the start. The woman who called me to the back did not introduce herself- I had no idea if she was the doctor, hygienist or tech. She was very short and rude during the whole x ray process. In the middle of doing my x rays she took off her gloves and threw them on the tray right on top of the part that goes in my mouth!!! When I asked her to please put her dirty gloves in the garbage she didn't even replace the piece that was supposed to go back in my mouth. It wasn't until after the procedure was done that she mentioned I would have a $50 copay. Okay fine. Then the hygienist came in and proposed a treatment plan consisting of a "gingivitis cleaning" that would cost me $200. Mind you I am 30 yr old healthy female and I get my teeth cleaned every year/ have always bad a basic cleaning through my insurance without any issue. When I asked to just have a regular cleaning they said that couldn't be done. So I said okay I will leave and go somewhere else. While checking out and paying $50 (I didn't even see a doctor and still have to find somewhere else to get my teeth cleaned) the hygienist said "well you're a doctor you should understand" how unprofessional!!!! She's lucky I bit my tongue and just walked out. I will absolutely never return here and if anyone is reading this STAY AWAY! read more

She was the first dentist to do major work and not make me feel like I was being yanked off the table and my jaw was cracking from forcing my mouth open. The services were gentle, comfortable and effective. The staff treats me with respect and always make me feel welcome. The followup phone calls and reminders were relevant without being pushy. I've received by far the worst service at this location. I signed up for clear aligners and paid the full fee of $2k up front. It's now been over 2 months and I still do not have these aligners. I also requested that they file a claim now over a month ago and it still has not happened even after speaking to them 2x about this. I also received a temporary crown a month ago and it seems they have no intention on calling me in for the permanent crown. To avoid major headaches and time, AVOID going to this location. Came here to get my referral for wisdom teeth extraction. Everything was fine, covered by insurance, no problems, everyone was friendly. When it came to sending my x-rays to the oral surgeon, I had to ask them twice to send over the x-rays again because the lower mandible wasn't fully visible & the surgeon said he needed a new one before the surgery. Cut to today (1/28/19), they sent over the same incorrect x-ray, so I tried calling them. They open at 8:30, called at 8:45, 8:46, & 8:47. No answer, VM full. Ended up having to pay $100 for a new x-ray there at the surgeon's office. I shouldn't have, but had no choice. Will never return or recommend this or any office as by the reviews for others the entire company is incompetent. read more

The front desk is also clueless and rather be in their cell phones then do the job they were hired for. The actual dentist is ONLY there on Saturday. Because the front desk staff made a mistake on scheduling I had to wait 3 hours and still have pain. After waiting a few weeks to get the continued work done they called me and said they are having staffing issues and need to reschedule my appointment to make me wait longer they did not care about me having pain or any of my concerns all they cared about was basically saying they have other patients that need to get in. So don't waste your time with this office and read the other reviews because they are ALL true. This office has all new people! The dentist is Dr Vespia. She saved my teeth! Aspens dental said that all my lower molars were not salvageable and needed to be pulled or all have root canals, both costing 10k! I went to coast with my new insurance, and Dr Vespia, who is very kind and a calming influence, reassured me that all but one tooth were going to be fine. Just one root canal! My wife went here to get dental work done with Tricare Dental insurance. Everything was fine until about a month later we received the full bill for the dental work with the last name Dodson. Our last name is Dawson... After countless phone calls with them, tricare and three way calls with both, they said they were working on it and have been having "management issues." Recently received a notice from collections on the bill, again with the name Dodson. Called them again and they claimed to fix it but the account is still open. Absolutely awful service here. There's plenty of other options out there. Do not use these people. I have never left a review on anything in my life but these people just do not have their shit together. I will not go into the rest of the horrible ordeal but let's just say that I was extremely uncomfortable and almost left twice (I should have). This is the worst dentist office I've ever been to. They call the day of to confirm appts, not before. They are always running late, never prepared with proper tools, and patient comfort is the last of their concerns. I had a periodontal cleaning 3 months ago. Went to another dentist for my root canal a month and a half ago and they said it looks like I haven't had a cleaning in a long time. So, that was an hour of time wasted and extremely uncomfortable. I've had fillings done here, which are always interrupted by people coming to talk to the doctor and taking her attention. More time wasted. Not to mention, the amount of pain I feel after leaving their office and the following days is not like anything I've felt from other dental work I've had done. I've had fillings and a root canal done at other dentist's offices and feel fine the following days with mild discomfort. I have to actively take pain medication after leaving Coast Dental. I would never step foot near this place if it weren't for my insurance only covering my procedures here. If you have the option, go ANYWHERE else. This place is absolutely terrible. read more

Kudos to Dr. Frazier and the entire team. I had the misfortunate of needing a root canal days before an overseas trip. I couldn't be more pleased with the treatment. Dr. Frazier's made sure the procedure was 99% pain-free and the entire team was attentive to my every need -- from working with me on billing (I don't have dental insurance) to a follow-up call to make sure I was doing ok post-treatment. I don't normally review businesses, but the continual poor customer service and unprofessionalism of this dental office needs to be shared with other before beginning treatment. Everytime we have had appts booked, they call and cancel the day before or morning of. Once they didn't call and just waited until I showed up with my child for our appt. They have refused to release my dental records at this point. I had to have a root canal done twice in the same tooth within two months because the dentist missed the second root. He actually told me there wasn't a second in that tooth which normally has second. Then they tried to charge me for the second procedure. Additionally, they would charge me for nitrous, but discontinued using it once they had numbed our mouths with novocaine. However, the insurance was charged for a full tank and use for the entire procedure. They cannot keep a dentist on staff and have had four in the last year. I have attempted to contact their corporate office and have found that the poor customer service is consistant across all areas of this company. Go elsewhere and save yourself time, money, and headache. Oh, and maybe only get one root canal instead of two. read more
