UPDATE!! They just sent me a $63 bill with absolutely refusing to send an itemized invoice or state what the bill is for... this business is fraudulent!!!!! I reported them to the better business bureau. I'm going to talk about the facility setup for most of this review as this is why the rating is low. Receptionist never sent me new patient paperwork over the weekend before my appointment on Monday. That's fine, but they wouldn't see me until it was complete and it took me 30 minutes. Once they called my name to come back they sat me down in the XRay room, handed me a bill and asked for payment immediately. Said we could not continue the appointment without payment.... major red flag! Most reputable medical office would never do this!! Okay fine, with insurance $143 dollars... Like others were saying they NEED to do the oral cancer screening. I've had that done at other dentist... they never even used the oral screening device on me while I was there... Again major red flag!! X-rays done then they take me back to an actual cleaning room, they say let me turn on Telehealth for you to see the doctor... All the "doctor" does is look at your x-rays, and they rely on the dental assistant to actually look at your teeth... again, this is a major red flag!!! The dental assistant says her teeth look great, I suggest a regular cleaning, "doc" says great do that. Since my teeth were in good condition they did it on the spot, which took 10 minutes. But usually you have to make a separate appointment to get your teeth cleaned. I would seriously NEVER recommend this place to anyone!! Even though the dental assistant who assisted me was a sweet girl and I have nothing bad to say about her. If I could put NEGITIVE stars I would this is the worst dentist office I've ever been to. I was the third person when I arrived for my 2pm appointment. I wasn't there five minutes, and I kid you not 8 people showed up after me and six got called back before me. One got sent home without being seen another they tried to send to another office, and they loudly said they didn't have dentures in the office for him so everyone to hear, that's very unprofessional! After waiting an hour, they finally called me back. Saying I needed to call and switch my insurance over, I said it took an hour for you to tell me that? She then said she just took a look at my card; keep in mind they sent me a text at 11 am asking for my card by 12:30 or my appointment would be canceled. So how are you just seeing my card? Anyway, I call and switch because the dentist on the card no longer accepts the insurance and coast is in network. The insurance lady puts me on hold and calls the office to verify the switch, she then takes me off hold and I go back to the waiting room and I ask her how much my copay is she tells me $5 I then ask her how much cleanings and such are she says they cost nothing unless I'm getting actual work done like fillings or something and she'd email me a copy over. So, I finally get called to the back and the lady that's taking me back asks how my day is. I tell her I don't know. She asks why, I tell her well it's kind of long.. she says well we didn't have your insurance, so it took a while. Umm yes, y'all did I sent it at 11am. Whatever. We get to the room she asked me what I want done today I tell her a cleaning. She tells me I can't get that today I have to be established as a patient first they have to do x-rays and such. The doctor will come on the tv and talk to me. What the hell kind of dentist comes on a tv screen??? Please tell me. At my old dentist they do x-rays and cleanings same day. Then she tells me I have to pay $69 today because I don't have insurance. But in the hall, you just said it took so long because y'all DIDN'T have it meaning you have it now. Oh okay. I told her yes y'all do I talked to the insurance lady and switched it over and she said my copay is $5 she said oh wait and she goes up front and talks to the lady and comes back and says well you still have to pay $69 I said no the insurance lady said my copay is $5 she said well you can add the $5 to the $69. I put my purse on my shoulder and said don't even worry about it cancel my appointment and walked out. Went to the front desk told them don't bill me I wasn't seen and left. My appointment was rescheduled for February 6. Today, February 2, I received a text message canceling the appointment again, and advising that I needed to call to reschedule. Avoid like the plague. Full of hidden fees and terrible bookkeeping. I went here expecting to get a routine semi-annual cleaning. I was given the information forms to fill out electronically and return them only for the office to tell me that they didn't have any of my information once I arrived at the office. I was taken to the back for my X-rays and then I was handed a bill for $60 for a oral cancer screening (you don't have to get it). The audacity of them to add an expense that I didn't know anything about. Even after I asked them to remove it, it remained on the invoice. I had to physically scratch it off and initial so that I wouldn't be charged. After that, I was taken to a room where I thought that I would have my teeth cleaned. Nope. They just send a hygienist in there to poke and prod at your gums and teeth and yell out numbers to an assistant for five minutes. Before she left, she tells the assistant to "add a toothbrush" to the bill. The toothbrush costs another $120. Once the hygienist left, they then SKYPE a dentist from a remote location . I was told that they wanted to do a deep cleaning. They weren't going to do it that day, but I had to come back IN A MONTH in to get it done. The deep cleaning consists of two separate sessions totaling $1000 out of pocket (insurance doesn't cover). I later tried to call to remove my appointment from their books because they kept texting and calling about it. Mind you, I had canceled the appointment the day of my "exam". They don't pick up the phone at the office. They have a call center in another country. I was told that my appointment wasn't in their system, but I kept receiving correspondence from the office even after my cancellation. I had to change my dentist due to being on medicare. My choices are the "doc in the box" dentist. So I went to Coast Dental. My last dental appointment with Dr. Bryant in Tallahassee, went smoothly and I had a good check up. So I was expecting the same when I went to Coast Dental. First, my appt was at 3pm. I was waiting while several people were taken back. At 3:20 I asked the 2 women chatting behind the glass if I would be taken back soon. I was told that I would be taken back in just a moment, with a side eye. They continued their discussion and eventually one of the women came and got me. They took x-rays, and did the normal exam. However, In scoring my gums they had many 4, 5 and 6's. Which I never in my life have had scores of 5 and 6's and rarely 4's. They told me I would need periodontal care which is not covered by Medicare and this would cost me $358 plus dollars, out of pocket. Plus, they said I have gum disease. Of course, this is done with a dentist on zoom, so when I asked to speak with the dentist to address my questions, I was told that wasn't possible. I do believe they were diagnosing me with this, because they wouldn't get paid much through Medicare. So, of course, I walked out, furious. I immediately reported this to Better Business Bureau. Where I found out Coast Dental is not accredited by BBB. Not surprising. I went back to my regular dentist, Dr. Bryant. When I got my teeth cleaned at Dr. Bryant's, we looked at my previous record and I had NO 4, 5, 6 SCORES ON MY GUMS!! Plus, nothing about gum disease. THE ONLY REASON I left Dr. Bryant was because of Medicare, but I would rather pay out of pocket for my cleaning with a reputable Dentist than pay anything toward the pockets of Coast Dental. All this is to warn you, if you like your money in your pocket, DON'T GO TO COAST DENTAL!!!! My husband and I scheduled 2 appointments back to back a few months ago. The office called us to cancel because a hygienist quit, no problem. We tried to reschedule together, but we ended up scheduling separately. My husband had his appointment yesterday (04/20/2021). The office called to reschedule because a hygienist was running late. He rescheduled to later in the day. After waiting for over an hour... he was so frustrated, he rescheduled AGAIN, to the next day. The following day, he went back to the office and finally got in only to be told we needed to pay 75.00 for a cleaning and x-rays. I am fortunate and I have very good dental insurance and there should have been zero out of pocket!! We will not go back. We will not recommend them to anyone. I recently had gotten new insurance because of a job change and looked at providers who took my insurance and found a bunch but they were all just listed under the dentist name/address (not company name.) I called and was able to make an appointment and the man on the phone said he had my information already so I assumed it was Coast dental (the only place I had gone in the last 6 months.) I was able to make an appointment for the next week so I excitedly took the appointment. I searched the address online and cross referenced the phone number I had made the appointment with, lo and behold it was Coast Dental, but at a different location. I thought maybe they moved or had two locations. The day of my appointment comes. I leave work about 4 hours early to show up at 2pm, right on time. The receptionist tells me my appointment isn't until 3:20pm and I would have to wait...weird. I thought about just waiting but then I asked her to check again because I was sure it was at 2. After getting my name wrong about 3x she finally determined I don't even have an appointment. She mentioned something about the location on Tennessee street. I asked if maybe it was there and she informed me they're not the same. I asked if I'm even in their system and she told me she couldn't find me anywhere in the system. I ask again "So this Coast Dental and the Coast Dental on Tennessee street are not related at all?" she agreed and told me they were completely separate. Very confused I left the office and decided to call the number I called last week when I set up my appointment. It rang and then immediately transferred me to a call center. I hung up and called the Tennessee street location. It was the exact same thing. Ring and then a call center. Which led me to believe they are totally related! I finally got someone on the phone and they told me I did not have any appointments at either locations. I told them about my interaction last week and they said "Oh wait you did have an appointment at the location on Tennessee street at 2pm but it was canceled." When did they inform me it was canceled?? I then have to reschedule, double check, and confirm that I have an appointment at the correct location and luckily they had an opening for the very next day. First appointment was OK they did x-rays and consult as expected but what should have been free through my insurance was still $120. No biggie, health care cost a lot out of pocket. Needed a periodontal cleaning, 2 sessions over 2 separate appointments, cool. Booked the next appointment for 2 weeks out. An hour and 15 min before my appt they called to reschedule bc the hygienist called out that day. 2nd red flag, but rescheduled to another day a month out that worked for me. Took ANOTHER day off work, confirmed through text. They called the day before my appointment, missed the call, called back...no answer and couldn't leave message. I received another confirmation text 2 HOURS BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT. When I got there they informed me they had filled my slot because I didn't answer the 1 phone they made. I have attached screenshots of all the texts they sent leading up to this rescheduled appointment. They also don't have any dentist in office they just zoom call them in from Orlando. If you like to be ripped off left and right, Coast Dental is the place for you! They charge you for everything (like irrigation - yes, spraying water in your mouth is $30+). Also, you need a pre-screening before you can get an actual cleaning. So, don't expect to get your routine cleaning on the first visit. Insurance won't cover most of their services because they are smart enough not to pay the BS charges. Staff are a bit condescending but I care more about my money than I do my feelings, lol. My suggestion? Find a real dentist office, not a bunch con-artists. I may have been ripped off, but I hope this helps others avoid their terrible services. read more

Waited 4 months for an appointment for a bad tooth with pain. Confirmed appointment via both text and emails the week before appt as prompted by Coast Dental. Received voicemail 2 business days prior to apt that they needed my insurance member ID. Attempted to contact them both days prior to appt but got voicemails due to busy lines. On the day of appt I was informed that they canceled my appt due to not being able to verify insurance. Contacted my insurance provider who was surprised as they are listed as my primary dentist office and could obtain member ID at anytime. If 0 stars was an option I would choose this. This place has low ratings for a reason. DO NOT GO HERE. I had an appointment scheduled more than six months out with it being canceled two days prior. I had rescheduled because I'm desperate for a dentist appointment but upon showing up I was told I would be having to pay 112 out of pocket for a required oral cancer screening. I asked if I could just have the cleaning but this was not possible without the screening. I have dental insurance and this is a place that is within my net work. So the out-of-pocket cost was way beyond anything I've ever seen. After saying that I'm uncomfortable paying this cost, and do not understand why the screening is necessary, the hygienist told me that she wouldn't go here if she were me. Trust your gut and choose a different place. I walked about before I even sat down in the chair. This is an absolutely terrible practice. The people who work there are incredibly rude. The office is dirty. Once I went in and there was blood on the tool tray from a previous patient. I routinely wait 30 minutes or more. They have also cancelled my visit, after waiting months, in the past because they were short staffed. Last week I went in and after waiting in the office for 45 minutes asked (politely) how much longer it would be. An extremely aggressive employee lectured me about how the computers were down and suggested that I reschedule- in a tone that was clearly meant to make me back down from my question. I told her that was all fine, but I just wanted an estimate on how much longer I would be waiting. She then raised her voice, repeated her lecture about the computers being down, and told me to reschedule if 'I had a problem.' I repeated my question in a completely neutral tone and she shook her head and walked out. On a previous visit, the dentist had difficulty inserting an implant and swore several times under his breath, yanked my chin down because after 30 minutes I wasn't 'open enough' and had to leave the room to cool down. On another visit, when checking my gums I winced in pain and the hygienist rolled her eyes at me and lectured me about how maybe I should brush my teeth. I explained that I do, 2 to 3 times a day. She then told me that obviously I am not. But, I do. Periodontal disease is hereditary in my family. It was insulting and rude. Seriously, don't go here. I would have stopped by now, but this is the only dentist my dental insurance will allow me to go to. I am switching plans in my re-enrollment period so I don't have to go here, either. read more

I texted back and forth and we got a new appointment made. About a month later I get a phone call from them saying we need to reschedule my appointment again. Apparently I had been talking to an outsourced person each time who can't actually put anyone on the schedule. So I'm not sure why they gave me a fake appointment time twice but I talked to the actual person at the office and we made a third appointment and I double checked at the end of the call "ok so I'm actually on the schedule now for that day?" And they confirmed. I show up to my appointment today which I have a text message confirming it's at this time and location and they say I'm not on the schedule and the person who does new patients isn't even here today. I work in the health care field. I am a provider myself of 24 years. Going here was my only option because it was the only provider AETNA accepted under my DMO plan. The place is dated, has dated equipment and it was not sanitary AT ALL. The hygienist assistant told me she was going to do a gum check on my daughter and then proceeded to walk away and spend 15 minutes on a personal phone call in another room. I could clearly see her from where I was sitting in the exam room with my daughter. UNPROFESSIONAL. Then, as she was performing the gum check, they had a front desk employee fill out pertinent information on the form she was calling out to her. Once the DDS came into the room she proceeded to tell me my daughter has gingivitis (not arguing this point even though my daughter is 19 and hasn't had 1 cavity in her life) this was determined because she bled during the gum exam. Fair enough; however, she then proceeded to tell me that my daughter would need a deep cleaning, not the basic cleaning which is an extensive UPCHARGE service. The quote I received was for 194.00 for a cleaning, with some wacky services. Needless to say I am going back to my previous dentist and will have to pay only 96.00 for an out of pocket deep cleaning. Coast Dental is a joke. Be prepared to feel like your having your car repaired and the technician is telling you you need items you that you don't! It all felt like a scam, and we wont ever be returning. Also, my daughter told me that when they were taking her panoramic xray that one of the employees was trying to get the attention of the hygienist and she proceeded to say "quit calling my name bruh".
