I went to the Money Services counter, where I was told the fee to cash my check would be $8, which I was fine with. The associate tried twice to cash my check, but both attempts were denied. She told me she couldn't do the transaction and went off to lunch. I tried getting someone else to help me but he stated he was an operator not a manager. So her co-worker explained to me that it wasn't an issue with my identification. At first, I thought it might have been because the address on my passport wasn't current, so I provided another form of identification along with a piece of mail showing my name and mailing address. Unfortunately, that didn't make a difference. The associate explained that it may have been because it was my first time cashing a check of that amount at Walmart and suggested that I go directly to my bank instead. While I appreciated the associate's efforts in explaining it to me, the experience was still extremely disappointing. I had planned to use the money to buy groceries, but since I couldn't access my funds, I had to return everything I had picked out and leave empty-handed. It was a frustrating and discouraging end to an already long workday. I understand that policies and verification systems are in place for security, but I wish there had been a clearer explanation or an alternative solution to make it right with me. I was so disappointed, I just deposited the check through my own Chase mobile banking. A bank I haven't used in over a year and a half since I moved to Hawai'i. To make matters worse, the employees started discussing my situation in the corner in Tagalog as if I wasn't right there. I wish people didn't do that. Speak in another language thinking other people don't understand you. I speak Visaya, English, and Tagalog by the way. I was born in the Philippines and understand the language... It was just a very discouraging encounter. I walked out of Walmart trying not to sob because after two weeks of waiting for a paycheck, and not being able to go to the bank with my work hours, it's been incredibly difficult to have money in my pocket. I was really counting on Walmart to take care of me today. So, reluctantly, I took a picture of my check instead and deposited it through my mobile phone and now I have to wait days for it to go through. What a rough day.

I can safely say this Target passes my restroom accessibility check. Having access to a public restroom makes such a big difference, especially when you're out running errands. Unfortunately, the family restroom was completely trashed during my visit. I'm grateful that businesses offer these facilities, but seeing conditions like this also makes me understand why some businesses may hesitate to keep their restrooms open and accessible to everyone. I hope we can all do our part by treating these shared spaces with respect. A clean restroom is a small thing that can make someone's day so much easier. On another note, I enjoy going to this Target. If I'm not mistaken, I've stopped by here, at least three times already and I love what I see. I just want to spend hours here and go aisle by aisle! That is an adventure for another day.

I ordered a microwave online for curbside pick up as hurricane Lala killed mine. It was the perfect size and the price was great. Everything went smooth when I picked it up, until I got home. The box was crushed in one corner, (shielded from my eyes by the worker who loaded it into my car.) and had been reshaped to look acceptable. Upon opening the box, we saw the styrofoam protector surrounding the device in the crushed corner was damaged. We knew it did not protect the unit as it was pretty thin. There was going to be damage. We got it onto the counter and saw it immediately. The corner of the unit was not damaged, but the whole front was. The housing was bent, the keypad was askew and the door wouldn't close, not even a little. A crushed corner is a red flag, and the product of this type should not be put out for sale. The contents are heavy so being dropped from a low height causes major damage. "It's just the box, the contents are fine.", is the thought process of humans that made this box end up in my car. So here we are, me without a working microwave and writing a bad review at 3am, as the store's reputation needs to be upheld. To all consumers, Inspect all packaging of appliances BEFORE leaving the store, especially for crushed corners, and holes in appliance boxes!! If small appliance, ask to inspect the contents before purchasing. (Would you buy tomatoes packed inside a cardboard box that has been damaged, on faith?)

I bought a few more items with a different cashier and what do you know I got 25-30 percent off and no mention of an upgrade card. I live here so I am going to customer service to complain because the 30 dollar item should be 10 off with my discount. I will let them know what this lady is doing at the register. Unbelievable she must get a commission by signing people up for an American Express card.

Over the years I have gotten a bed quilt, little gadgets and a lot of household items. They have a wide range of items from Korea. Not too many places carry many products from Korea. They have a sale so perfect time to check them out if you haven't been there! It's on Beretania Street on the right side between Kalakaua Avenue and Makiki St ! It's in an old car repair place. She had gone to Daiso on Piikoi but had heard that they recently opened a location downtown on Hotel Street. So off we went. After finding parking on Bethel Street, we walked a couple blocks mauka and spotted the new store. Terry found a few tea cups but needed more. Next we drove over to the Daiso on Piikoi where Terry had purchased a few cups recently, hoping they had restocked. No such luck. So we drove over to Woori Mart which is a Korean home goods store. Neither Terry nor I had been there before but it has great street frontage visibility on Beretania just past Kalakaua Avenue, so when Terry said she wanted to look there, I knew exactly where it was, despite the strange name. The store has ample parking on the right side of the driveway as you enter the property. IIRC, that warehouse used to house an auto dealership in the glory days of auto sales. Now it houses a Korean version of a mini IKEA. There were no customers in the store when we got there and I had an eerie feeling in the virtually empty store like we would be rushed by zombies from the "Train to Busan". Happy that the zombies were not gnawing on our legs, I still maintained my alertness because the strong vibe continued. We acknowledged, then ignored the two employees as they ignored us, but I still kept them in my peripheral vision while Terry milled around the aisles for her vials. Yups, her cups. And then it happened. The conversation between the two employees became a little agitated and their voices climbed an octave. So I moved around to the side just in time to see one of the employees semi-flail her arms and then take a couple hops like a bunny on its hind legs. I was a little taken aback but not shocked because it looked harmless like she was excising herself from the slightly malevolent spirits of boredom after working there almost all day. But I was not sure because I did not want to look directly into her eyes. It was at that point that I realized my camera had not eaten so having missed recording that moment, I decided to take shots of the interior. As I turned toward the door to compose my shot, two Korean women walked in and turned right to the back of the store where towels, blankets and mattresses were displayed. If anywhere, I thought, that would be where the zombies would be sleeping, waiting to attack. But the eerie feeling was gone. There were no zombies in the store, and very few customers. And soon Woori Mart may be gone as well.
