Had this company create a custom stove pipe chimney cap and flashing. We were quoted something like $500. The bill came in excess of $1000. When questioned she says the guys were there for five hours. I was surprised to hear that because we were present and they were NOT there for 5 hours. Here nor there. We paid the bill. That same day our ladder went missing , I simply said could you ask the guys if they might have picked it up our ladder by accident. She informed me that the guys were offended that we would accuse them of steeling our ladder. NOT what I said at all. Goodness. I received two estimates for a wood fireplace insert. I was clear in what I wanted and didn't want. When I went to accept one of the bids the total amount of the work order was increased by $400. With no note of explanation. They added back the liner I made clear we did not need to replace. When I questioned Robin about anything, she became defensive. I didn't need to replace the liner in my chimney as the one I have is stainless steel and didn't need to be replaced. She says well are you a professional installer! Very condescending. NOT the point. They were insistent on charging for a new liner. She wanted to make sure I understood if they came out and the liner had to be replaced we would know the cost. Ok that is fair why add it back to the work order without telling me and then become defensive. When I questioned the increase of cost. She then went on to say , I also questioned the chimney top. Well yes I did as it doubled in price from estimate. I have never dealt with a company so unprofessional. What ever happened to professionalism in retail. My father purchased a pellet heater from this company around 2009. In April 2024, he had to have the igniter replaced and had this company come out to replaced the igniter. 15 years of usage out of an igniter seems like a decent lifespan. A few months later he passed away. The family noticed that the pellet heater wasn't working and we called this company to make repairs. When the repairman came out, he was shocked to discover that the replaced igniter wasn't working since it had just been replaced by his company a few months before. He told me that sometimes an old igniter will be placed on the shelf with the new igniters "by accident". The technician replaced the faulty igniter with a new igniter and the company is charging us $481 to replace their own faulty igniter. I'm still in a state of shock over this. I can't believe that a company would operate like this. If this was "an accident" then why didn't the company offer to correct their own mistake free of charge? Their business model seems to be to sell old, used igniters as new igniters so that they can keep a constant stream of repair work flowing. I'm not sure how to handle this, but my first thought is just to warn the public against a company that seems to be preying on the elderly with questionable business practices. Where do I start, the owner came to my house and seemed very nice, he explained to me that I could only use one kinda pellet stove and of course that stove came with a huge price tag 6300. I wanted to use a old mantel so he measured everything (so I thought). Weeks and weeks went by, I had paid it in full, yes first mistake, and then I was going to have him do some tile work around the pellet stove. They used the wrong thin set, wouldn't cure for days, duh was done by one guy in one side one on the other so not straight, when they left I peeled them all off and re did them, I grouted the tile yet I paid for it all. The Envrio stove did not fit right within my mantel so I couldn't use all the parts, but the owner measured it lol. smoke came back into the house, they used electrical tape on duck work, it didn't close right, they were 4 feet short on the chimney lining. I had the rep from the stove come with the owner Robin and his two helpers lol the whole time this guy kept taking videos of the back yard that looked out on the Pacific Ocean, then had to keep showing all his zoom techs it was a SHIT Show fer sure, stood around for at least an hour waiting for this rep to zoom. I've had the stove installed for three months and they are telling me the smoke smell will burn off after the first use, ah dah that was like three months ago. It was a joke!!!!! I was told I could get my money back and I say yes what I got was 4800 not my full price I paid. He must have had this happen a few times as he made sure the stove was removed and gone, then when I asked for my money to be returned he Robin shows up with less than agreed. he claims I paid for a permit yet no one came to check their work, he had me pay for a liner that was incorrectly installed with 4 feet short and duck tape .... you get the picture. When they removed the oven they damaged the lining more and tried to remove the electrical tape. I'm a woman and I was treated like crap from this company trying to tell me. I had heard not to go with this company from several people but it was to late as I had already paid, I do not recommend this company!!! The employees and I mean everyone I came in contact with had nothing nice to say about the owner, they said things like he was always messing up, and didn't measure right or ordered the wrong thing. Angry sure I didn't get all my money back, or an apology. This pellet stove was dropped for it to be torqued like it was, they didn't not help me as a customer, they were not respectful, or understand and I would not recommend them. Crooked Contractor. Beware if you have had a gas fireplace installed! We hired Coast Hearth and Home to install a new gas fireplace in our house. This review is primarily based on incidents that happened after the installation. 1) The electrical power went out on one side of our house. When we had an electrician out, they found that Coast Hearth had run power to an electrical timer to turn on the gas fireplace and head connected the wires improperly. Coast Hearth and Home is not a licensed electrician.it took several months and numerous calls to get them to pay the electrical bill. 2. We were replacing a two-sided wood-burning fireplace with a gas one. I was told by Robin at Coast Hearth that there was no such thing as a two-sided gas fireplace. Turns out that was a complete lie. Now I have a fireplace with a black panel in place of glass to see the flames. 3. The biggest issue concerns a $500 energy rebate from Northwest Natural Gas for installing an energy efficient fireplace. Robin mentioned nothing to us about this rebate being available when we were installing the fireplace. We happened to see a commercial on TV and I contacted him. At the time, Robin said that he had prepared the rebate paperwork and sent it in on our behalf. I thought it was odd,;what business does that for a consumer? But I took him at his word. A month or two went by and no rebate check. I contacted Northwest natural gas. Many phone calls and many months later,Northwest Natural Gas and I compared invoices. Turns out Robin had submitted a falsified invoice to them, claiming he had given me the rebate when in fact he had not. He had received the rebate money from Northwest natural gas months before. Northwest natural gas is sending me a check for the rebate I never received. I appreciate that, but I do wonder how many other customers, many of them elderly, Coast Hearth has pulled this on. read more

Robin seemed like kind of a jerk when I spoke to him on the phone -but I wanted to see how he would be in person. When he showed up he was even worse than I imagined and seemed to have only ONE agenda in mind...to sell us the highest priced insert possible. He kept mentioning that I could get $1,400 back on a rebate from the gas company, but when he showed me examples of the inserts they were $6,000-$7,000! When he found out that we needed to have our metal tubing removed while we figured out what insert we wanted, he said "oh, Ill be right back, just need to go to my truck". Then he got in and ran away like a little girl! My daughter and I were really confused...he said nothing at all about leaving us in the dust. I am disabled and can't get on the roof and he clearly knew this. So I called and asked him why he left and he said "oh, I thought I was holding you up". What a LIE. Then I asked if he would come back to help us remove the old tubing and he never returned my calls. A Misogynist? YES! Sexist? YES! Also He looked at us like we were beneath him... and all I can say is, at least our home is PAID off, However small, and we love it! What- a- PIG. read more

Super disappointed in the lack of service from a chimney cleaning I had scheduled. No show/no call. I called 45 minutes after the appt and the super nice gal that answered apologized and said she'd have him call me--he'd gotten delayed at the previous job. Another 45 minutes later I called again, and again the poor gal was super nice, apologized, said she tried to contact him etc. I just cancelled the service, gave my managerial feedback and was just really disappointed all together...I want my chimney cleaned and I was just pissed-off that we lost a day of wages since we are self-employed and waited around all day. Again-the gal at the office was super nice and very apologetic, but I gotta say that if a dude cannot call the office and let folks know he is running late I just don't want them in my house or trust them to do the rest of their job right.
