We called on 5 top Yelp plumbing companies for re piping quotes. The plastic pex pipes . This to address a few leaks we've had on a 30 year old trac home in Oceanside. The five companies were all professional and detailed in their quotes but Daniel from Coast to Coast Plumbing stood out. I was on a mission to get new pipes but he gave me so much more info during his visit that I had to pause and think about. This didn't benefit him at all He showed up on time and gave us several options. I listed only two below. 1 Re pipe with Pex He disclosed the warranty is valid if the pipes fail. But with incorrect pressure (too high) it can damage the pipes and cause flooding thus cancelling warranty. This was important info. However they offer to come out annually to do check ups There is drywall repair to consider. Depending on the work involved that would be determined after the repipe. Quote was the most reasonable one and 50% less than the highest 2. Purchase a leak detector unit and monitor for leaks. He leaned toward this suggestion. He noted that the house occupied by my 89 year old mother would get extremely dusty and no matter how much they cover and protect she will be exposed to it. They have to cut walls etc to get to pipes. He also recalled her lung issues. (What a memory !) He also stated the drywall restoration after the cut outs to repipe can be costly Without saying it (important mom's quality of life ) he laid out the best case scenario for us. We will postpone the re pipe and in the near future go with the less invasive method of monitoring for leaks. Purchase the Moen leak detector and have Daniel install . It makes sense, and is the best step forward I will update once we go forward with that. I highly recommend Daniel and Coast to Coast . Consults(I got info worth $$$ ) and again even though I have not had work done YET I would use them in any plumbing situation Note Coast to Coast Plumbing -. I left for a few minutes and came back to Danny and his colleague switching off the main to my house to prevent further leaking and to help reduce the inevitable hit on our water bill.
