Secondly, in that time the vehicle had aged to 25 years (doesn't seem that long to me!) and the parts just plain rusted out. When I saw the vehicle the gas tank looked in sorry shape and was badly rusted--clearly needing preplacement. The vehicle transporter said the same thing. That it wasn't worth any further investment in parts or reconditioning. It was simply too old and the frame didn't look good. I didn't appreciate this analysis because it never occurred to me that this was the situation; hats off again to Dave's mechanic--Ricki--who accurately gave me the bad news that I couldn't appreciate.

The driver from Dave's was out really darn fast, dropped my wife and daughter off at at nearby motel, drove out to the service location with the car and then gave me a lift back to the motel (admittedly, that was on her way back, but still it was a nice thing to do). I told them that I was on a budget when I got there and they didn't want to work with me much, they made it sound good by saying they would check my allignment, and we could go from there. They proceeded to charge me to check the alignment, said that I needed a cam bolt ordered and installed in order to align the rear tires....I told them to hold off, I'd see if my dad could order and install the parts because he is a mechanic. I took my vehicle over to my dad's garage and the rear camera bolts hadn't even been touched (those are the parts that came stock on the vehicle that Bangor Auto & Truck said I needed to order and install) I was so embarrassed, and pissed because they made a fool out of me because I didn't know any better. I then proceeded to drive even further on my new, unaligned tires another 35 minutes both ways to my uncle's shop, who I know and trust and should have gone in the first place, Autoworks in Eddington. They did the allignment just fine with no additional parts or labor. Bottom line, Bangor Auto & Truck lied to my face, tried to take advantage of me, and I will tell as many people as I can about it because I don't want anyone else to have to buy parts that they don't need, or pay for unnecessary labor. Do NOT Trust Bernache Autobody…read more I honestly don't even know where to start with how bad my experience was with Bernache Autobody. It's been almost six months since I took my truck there for repairs after hitting a deer, and I'm still finding issues that they caused. In fact, they've caused more damage to my truck than the deer did! Here's the situation: I hit a deer while driving at 40 mph. The only damage was a dented front bumper and some broken plastic in the grill. I continued driving my truck for weeks after, and then went through my insurance to get it repaired at Bernache. After about three weeks, I finally got my truck back--and it was an absolute disaster. The bumper was crooked, they used zip ties to fasten the wheel wells, the headlight wiring was just hanging underneath the truck, the fog lights were crooked and nonfunctional, and there were missing bolts and nuts throughout the front of the truck. This was not professional work; it looked like a child had put it together. Naturally, I sent the truck back. After another week, I got it back, and the problems only got worse. The headlights were now full of water (they claimed it was because the insurance provided cheap ones) and the daytime running lights were flickering. To top it off, my truck threw an engine code related to the radiator louver--a part they had touched. So, back to the shop it went. ....My truck is relatively new and had been in immaculate condition before the collision. After the third time I got it back, I realized they had replaced several front grill pieces with cheap aftermarket parts, which weren't even damaged in the collision. It felt like they were just trying to cut corners at every turn. Frankly, I feel like they're scamming people. The work they did is subpar at best, and I can't imagine how many other customers have left that shop thinking their vehicles were repaired by professionals, only to find out they were hastily thrown together with zip ties and inferior parts. I would not trust Bernache Autobody with any vehicle. If you care about your car or truck, go somewhere else.

Harold's Transmission was recommended to me by my mechanic, when I needed service on my 2011 Toyota…read moreCamry's sealed transmission, which has no dipstick to check the ATF level. Toyota claims the ATF need not be serviced for the lifetime of the transmission (whatever that means!), but common sense and experience says otherwise. Replacing the ATF is not intuitive nor easily accomplished on these sealed Toyota transmissions, so I chose Harold's to perform this crucial service. Rob assured me they were quite familiar with these sealed transmissions. They performed a complete ATF replacement including dropping the pan and replacing the filter/screen for a reasonable price (much cheaper than Downeast Toyota!). Unfortunately I soon discovered my car's transmission was leaking from the drain pan seal soon after service. Apparently the new drain pan gasket was incorrectly installed, causing the slow drippy leak. Upon this discovery, I immediately contacted Harold's. They were extremely concerned, apologized and scheduled me to come in immediately. They quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced the gasket, properly adding additional Toyota ATF (btw don't use anything but Toyota branded ATF on these transmissions!). This corrective service was performed to my satisfaction quickly and at no additional charge (except for my precious time). Despite this problem, which could have been worse had I not discovered the leaky seal soon at my car's required annual inspection, I will return to Harold's for subsequent drain and fill of my car's ATF or other transmission service. Sometimes mistakes happen, but in this case Harold's provided a quick effective remedy without hassle. My car shifts soo smoothly now - like a new car! Harold's is apparently the go-to transmission repair shop in this area, and I will continue to patronize them for any and all transmission work on my vehicles. I'd give them 5 stars if it hadn't been for the leaking gasket.

He screamed at me (19 year old girl, college student) due to me being quoted $250 MAX for the pick up of the vehicle by his employee when I questioned why the price was $585. I then get yelled at being called a liar, and also got yelled at for "calling his employee a liar." My 20yr old female friend was also screamed at to the point she was crying in the office. He decides to even it out with $350, after claiming it was impounded, yelling at me, calling me a liar, and "making his time wasted.". The other employees in the office were amazing, helpful, and explained the situation while their boss was screaming at a teenager. Afterwards we had left the office to go retrieve the car. While switching vehicles we see said man, owner, manager person, leave the office and start walking towards us which is across the street. At this point we're are scared and trying to leave as soon as possible because we felt unsafe and scared of this man. He was almost at the car's window by the time she was able to drive out before he approach us.
