    Budgie vet visit

I don't normally do yelp review but I was really excited about my budgie first visit. The visit was smooth and doctor Restani made a really good job with my little baby. I'm impressed and I hope he can continue to be a good help in my budgies life.

The facility is nothing to write home about but what counts is how you and your pet are treated. It's easy to schedule an appointment and everyone is friendly and helpful. Dr Restani was thorough and quite caring about my cockatiel. He handled both of us very well! I was really upset at the reaction my boy had to two shots but I was reassured that it was normal from the stress and given details about what could happen afterward. When I needed to swap out meds, they accommodated me right away. They even followed up with me the next morning to see how Rocky was doing! The waiting area is small and can be quite hectic. I recommend a morning appointment so you don't get caught in a backlog of appointments. I hope I don't need to see them again but if the occasion arises, I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Happy birdy thanks to Dr. Restani!

When my conure started to show signs of sickness, I spent days looking for a vet. There were very common qualities in all the vets nearby: they didn't know much about birds, they charge an arm and a leg, and they lack any compassion for the animals. Every single vet seemed to only care about money... That is NOT the case with Dr. Restani! He is naturally so easy-going that any anxiety I had about him was gone the moment he started taking a look at my conure, Baby. Baby is nervous around new people so he flew off a few times, was screaming and gnawed on Restani's fingers trying to get out of the hold. Despite all of the fuss, Restani kept calm and did not use any excessive force at all! He clearly knew what he was doing. After Baby's second visit, he was much more comfortable being examined and behaved very well. Dr. Restani will not pressure you into any extra medications or tests that your pet doesn't need. He recommended many ways I can help Baby get better with items I can get on my own/may already have. The bill shocked me not because it was expensive, but because it was affordable! The small place runs on a lot of old-school technology, but it gets the job done and when the vet genuinely cares for the well-being of my pet, there's really nothing else I can ask for. It's worth the drive into the city. Also, shout out to the women at the desk because they're always friendly beyond belief! A little note, I recommend you pay with card. They don't carry much cash at all and will be unable to give you change. If you'd like, you can use the change as credit toward the next visit.

Waiting to be seen by the Dr.

Unfortunately, my experience at the surgery center in Los Angeles was all-around awful, and I deeply regret it. Recently, I was calling around this low-cost list, inquiring about dental cleanings for my fur babies. I called a number listed as a affordable veterinary referral service . A nice gentleman answered. He began educating me on dental care for dogs, and his knowledge was impressive. After our conversation, I texted him asking if he had any resources for orthopedic specialists, as I thought my dog might need revision surgery. He asked to see her X-rays and provided a consultation on them. Curious about his familiarity with canine bones and X-rays, I asked how he knew so much. He revealed that he is actually a DVM with experience in fracture repairs. I had no idea I was speaking to a veterinarian with orthopedic experience! I was truly impressed by his thoughtfulness, care, generosity with his time, and trustworthiness. I've shared Dr. Cruz's contact information with several individuals in crisis with their fur babies. Dr. Cruz is a truly kind and caring individual , and I have no doubt he is an amazing veterinarian and surgeon. Thank you, Dr. Cruz, for your incredible help in my baby's recovery ‍

I give them 5/5 but I had some worries about sending my precious lil husky there for cleaning under anesthesia that were not assuaged. One was they admitted the pricing online was wrong, not true pricing and refused to even give me a ballpark estimate (my dog is 3 I just wanted to reset the tartar buildup nothing else) but I was stonewalled and told they have to see my dog first. I can understand that but most other places gave me a range estimate some places gave me the exact amount for what I asked for. The thing that threw me off was I was told two different things. It seems like the point of the first visit was really to try to sell me their insurance/coverage package, which I was not interested in as I have heard all about it. I decided to do some deep research and even people who worked there had horror stories about what happened to their pets. I decided it was not worth it to risk it with my dog. I chose another place, Universal Pet Hospital. It was much further away but they did it all for $850 and my dogs teeth look perfect. I am so glad I didn't risk it because I found out my dog woke up half way through the cleaning and had a full on husky meltdown. They handled it and while his recovery was a bit rough he was 100% the next day. My personal advice is if your pet is your companion don't take the risk to save some money. The only reason I give two stars is because the two women I talked to were so nice and helpful, they were great although I get the sense this place is more about selling people packages and stuff than just straight up medical care. So do beware of that.

The most recent was 2 weeks ago. I've been waiting 2 weeks to hear back from the doctor about his results as it looks concerning from the previous ultrasound. They gave recommendations, but I can't even move forward because my insurance needs estimations on all the costs so I can get it pre authorized. I went in last Thursday to let the front desk know what I need, they said they called me twice. They didn't. They called once when I was in my evening class, I called back not even 10 seconds later 'We are closed' they said. Now it's been a few days since I came in and they let me know I will get a call back, and they will send me the estimated costs from the recommendations of the doctor. Still nothing. I am so frustrated. I love my dog as if he's my son, I WANT to get the services recommended done so I can prevent his condition from getting worse. Does anyone have any other recommendations on another pet hospital where they actually care about the pets being seen? Everytime I call, I'm put on hold immediately. Sorry, but I also have work and evening school, I can't stay on the phone for who knows how long. Get back to me with something helpful to fix this situation. My dog recently went in for the removal of a mass on his eye lid and Dr. Grossbard said it will be taken care of with no problem. After the procedure, the cone has been kept on except when my dog is being fed, given water or taken outside and I watched him like a hawk to ensure that he didn't scratch his stitches once. After the removal of his cone, I noticed a whitish tint in his eye so he was brought in for a checkup. The doctor said it could've been a complication due to the stitches, the stitches might've been rubbing his cornea and made an ulcer. I'm pretty upset because lately my dog has been acting very antisocial after his procedure. He still happily greets our guests, but after a few minutes, it's like he realizes his discomfort and goes off somewhere secluded. It just saddens me to know that he is in pain even though I agreed to have the procedure done to remove his discomfort in the first place. I have a follow-up soon and I really hope that the damage to his eye isn't permanent and that Allcare Veterinary Hospital will do what they can to get him back to his happy self soon with minimal pain. The vet tech there is always super friendly and my dog loves her, but the receptionist needs an attitude adjustments. I believe her name is Sondra and she seems to not have a care in the world. I would be standing there for ten minutes or more and there's absolutely no acknowledgement or update until I say something. When I ask to be provided with certain documents, I usually don't get it till days later and most of the time it's after I reached out again for the update.

I followed their advice, and our next visits went smoothly. A year later, I called to schedule another appointment and was surprised to be told they no longer wanted to see my dog. I wasn't given an explanation, but when I requested her records, I saw she had been labeled as aggressive. This had never been an issue at Claremont Vet Hospital. The lack of transparency was disappointing, especially since my dog was due for routine vaccinations. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this clinic for owners of large, anxious dogs that require extra handling, even when medicated.

Dr. Nguyen was confident it wasn't patellar luxation and recommended hind limb xrays to figure out what was really wrong. I would seriously pause to consider this series of misdiagnoses and the extreme and costly procedures that were recommended (which now have been confirmed as unnecessary), when deciding if you want your pets seen here.

For a vet practice, having friendly and professional staff and clean facilities is table stakes. One would expect competence and honest pricing as well, but not here. There is dangerous incompetence with the medical care, and deceptive/overbilling (as much as 70% higher than other vets I got quotes from for the same procedure). For one, the vet (won't name out of respect) misdiagnosed a clinically significant cardiac condition of one of my dogs (2 other vets disagreed with her). I gave her the benefit of the doubt and came back with my other dog, for whom she also misdiagnosed a chronic joint condition. She also insisted that we extract a tooth due to a (possible) infection, and two other vets confirmed this is not necessary and that the tooth is not even dead. The vet simply lacks nuance and sophistication in understanding and navigating conditions and treatment options, and I did NOT feel safe letting her put my pet under to perform any procedures. Had I trusted this vet, my dog would be unnecessarily missing a tooth. I also confirmed over multiple conversations/emails the unscrupulous billing practices designed to avoid scrutiny. They provided me three different estimates for the same procedure, where the exact same line items were priced differently in each estimate. When asked, the employee could not explain this and kept making nonsensical excuses that made me feel like I was talking to a wall (or she thought I'd be too stupid to keep pressing). They refused to provide an itemized estimate for a procedure that I could submit to insurance. They explicitly said that if they were to provide such a receipt, they would have to charge me 85% more (confirmed both on the phone and over email). They'd provide the exact same services, but if they have to provide transparency into the billing, they would simply double the bill. They simply would not break out the costs of different medications/procedures as needed for insurance unless they doubled the price. I went to two other vets and neither had issues providing this kind of pricing transparency. Go at your own risk.

Nothing - so I call to check in. I get routed to the vet - first cat was "last to get their cleaning....because of anesthesia earliest pick up is 5:15PM". Im told they have a slight ear infection, but they'll give some ear drops and everything else looks good. I ask about the second cat , they reply "oh haven't gotten to them yet". Okay ....whats been going on the last 8.5 hours? I wait til 5:15PM. Front desk people are always very nice. They tell me they're not ready for pick up - at this point I'm not surprised. Vet comes out and goes over the second cat with me. I ask a follow up question about the first cat, Vet says they need to go to the back to get the file and look at it. Follow up question answered. Vet tech goes over instructions with me and says I'm ready to go, they'll bring the cats out now. I ask about the vaccines for the second cat and the ear drops for the first cat. Vet tech says they'll give the vaccines now and ask about the ear drops. Finally out the door by 5:45 PM. Total time - 9.5 hours. Questions: If I didn't call to check in, when would they have called and why didn't I get a heads up that there was a delay. If I didn't ask about the vaccines would they have been marked on the chart but not actually given? If I hadn't asked for the ear drops would they have remembered and given them to me or would I have gotten a call to come back for them the next day? Lastly, what's the point of a 7:15 AM appointment time if 45min after the estimated pick up time, one of the cats hasn't been seen yet? This feels like an infrastructural issue. I don't necessarily blame the Vet (maybe emergencies came in or they fell behind or they're understaffed) and I definitely don't blame the vet techs or front desk. But it feels like there is no communication between care team and the pet owners/members. No communication between care team members. And it feels like they are scrambling, understaffed or both. Unfortunately the lasting feeling is incompetence and that makes me feel something can easily be missed or misdiagnosed. It feels unsafe ...and these are not the lasting feelings I want in healthcare :/
