First time here and I was impressed! Maybe it was the free hotdog they were grilling on a sunny day, or maybe it was just how friendly everyone was. I came here looking for baby chicks for my mom. She couldn't find any near her, so I figured--why not check this place out? It's a cute spot and has everything you'd need to keep your animals happy--especially baby chicks! They had just gotten a new shipment with a variety of breeds. My mom chose the Jersey Giants and she's very happy with them. The place is clean and welcoming. Things were easy to find, and the prices were reasonable. There was one small oops at checkout--they accidentally rang up my chicks as an $89 bag. The cashier read the price and asked me to pay, but I pointed out that these were chicks, not a bag! She quickly corrected the mistake and apologized. So yes--double-check the labels and review your prices before paying! Plenty of parking spots, and they accept both cash and card. Overall, a fun place to look around! read more

Once again another bad experience at Gresham Coastal. Placed order yesterday and no confirmation email. Swing by today w order number and print receipt only to wait 45 minutes and got the runaround several times by 3 different staff. Was sent to rear where nobody could be found. Back to the front for assistance yet again only to once again find nobody available. Finally management came out of the office and was able to catch attention. At this point had spent over 50 minutes and they still didnt have things figured out. Finally just gave up and asked they cancel the order As I have other work to do and don't intend to set up a PO box when I can spend $ elsewhere. Consistently poor experience at this store and have to wonder if anyone is home as customer service seems a very low priority. Just tried to exchange a shirt for my wife. Had receipt. Purchased it yesterday. Needed a large instead of a medium. Store refused to exchange it. Even called the manager and they said no. I'm a regular customer. I buy a lot from this store, and they can't exchange a shirt I bought to surprise my wife. And I rarely exchange or return anything. It's deserving of this rating. I went to Coastal Farm and Ranch in Gresham Yesterday afternoon. I found a Mr. Buddy Heater which I was interested in. There was no price on the item. I went to the check out stand and inquired about it. The cashier told me I could look it up online to get the price. Needless to say I walked right out of there without buying it. I will not return there for anything else. If they had been busy, I would have understood but there was no one else at the check out. Time to train their employees. read more

Coastal is a GREAT place! I've actually been shopping here for years, and am very surprised that I've never written a review. I do not own a farm or a ranch, but many residential items can be purchased here FAR more economically than elsewhere. As an example, 2 1/2 gallons of herbicide costs about 80x less than the consumer-branded items of the EXACT same chemistry at hardware stores. The same goes for insecticides. Items such as pelletized animal bedding is similarly shockingly cheaper than what one would pay at a pet store (I use it as a moisture retention agent when overseeeding my lawn - which saves tons of money over the pre-mixed "grass seed, fertilizer, and mulch"). In addition to these, you'll find a great selection of tools (even giant-sized ones to help maintain and repair giant farm power equipment), barbecue grills, work apparel, some of the best beef jerky I've ever had, and other sweet treats. You can also get poultry livestock chicks of many different varieties, in case you need a couple of yard birds, or an entire hatchery. I'm also very impressed with their COVID-19 precautions, although they do seem to be a bit understaffed as a result of it. read more

This is a cool store. You can spend hours in there I'm find all kinds of stuff that you don't need. You can also find a bunch of stuff that you do need even if you're not in the farming or ranching business. The store is much bigger on the inside than it appears from the outside. They also have lots of parking spaces for your big rig or tiny car. In addition, they have large selection of work clothes. Most importantly everyone is nice and helpful. We have gone here several times. We've never had an issue with the cashiers at checkout so far. They have been friendly. The stars is more for their firearms department. Went on a Sunday did the paperwork and everything needed to purchase one. They said in three days I'd be able to pick it up. Thursday came around and received the call at 4:39PM that I can pick it up. Nothing else. I had a school event to attend and didn't get out until 7. So I passed by after and when we arrived I told the guy there (didn't get his name) I had received a call I can pick up my firearm. He said they stopped selling at 6PM so he can't do anything while smirking. Then proceeds to say he should've mentioned that in the voicemail and chuckles. Then he said I have 30 days to pick up if I still want to. While still being there and looking at other firearms (and in disbelief of how he handled the situation with no apology from him) he proceeds to turn off the lights and leave. Doesn't ask if we had questions or concerns or if he could help us with anything else. Won't be going there for any type of firearms anymore. read more

This is my only option for a feed store based on where I live, which is a bummer. They have what I need, but seem to miss the mark constantly. In the last month I have ended up with a bale of hay that was entirely scotch broom, purchased a pallet of pellet fuel to find 6 bags broken open and empty, and picked up an order of grain only to find when I got home and opened it that they gave me the wrong kind. I get that mistakes happen, but I have been asking for refunds for weeks to no avail. If you are going to sell bad / damaged / wrong product, make it right and don't leave the onus on your customers to fix the problem. read more

The customer service and knowledge of employees is horrible. We went there to buy a Stihl battery powered lawn mower. The customer service rep took us to the DeWalt mowers and insisted they were Stihl. After realizing they were not we asked he said he will look in the back. It took the customer rep about a half hour to get the law mower off the shelving in the back we wanted. We asked and were confirmed several times that the lawn mower we wanted included a battery and charger. "That is what it says on the box" was the answer. Got home started to assemble and realized there was no battery and charger. Hard to run a battery powered mower with out a battery. Went to register the product on the Stihl website and saw this message "It is the dealer's responsibility to register the product with the customer before the customer leaves the store" You can only register the Stihl mower at the store. We were never asked to register the product. Now to get the lawnmower registered we have to drive another hour and fifteen minute round trip. Don't shop there. read more

I can't rate the actual store . I just wanted to purchase dog cookies. I was stopped by security from entering and told there is a no back pack policy. My backpack is a mini purse. My 80 year old 5'2 mother told the security guy it's a purse. Nope. Maybe they don't care if other women bring in giant purses but a mini backpack is a no no. I'm greatly disappointed by the Gresham location of Coastal Farm & Ranch. I was cussed out and threatened over the phone by the asst. manager (Sam) of this location. I reported this the Manager of the store he did nothing, so I contacted the human resources department of Coastal farm & ranch. The HR dept. rep sounded great over the phone, she took my complaint and promised to call me back with an update of what was going on. And..... she never called me back. We came here looking for galvanized metal feeding troughs to use as raised planters. The sales people were attentive and helpful. It's a fun place to look around at various garden and farm products. They have baby bunnies, chicks, ducks, and turkeys peeping around under warming lights. Lots of buckets, chicken houses, and carhart apparel. Th salesperson wrote down several metal container options for us to take home and think about. I guess their prices are average, but I don't have much to compare it to. Might have to bring the granddaughters here as I think they would get a kick out of seeing the baby ducks and bunnies. read more

How does the store have a four star rating? Their service is less than underwhelming. Nobody can ever find anything. They are slower than molasses in January. Many times I have purchased bags of seed inside the store, only to be told they were out of stock been going around back to pick them up. Today, I came to pick up two bags of chicken feed and a goat block. The man in the back had no idea where any of it was and invited me to find it myself. Stopped by this store to check on some hard-to-find inventory and asked a simple question of the gun counter clerk. His answers were some of the rudest I have ever dealt with as a customer at any store let alone this one. He told me he couldn't answer my question and when I told him the another Coastal would do this his response: "Well that's their mistake." I ran into The Dalles store about 630pm yesterday, I knew they closed at 7pm but I knew exactly what I needed so it was going to be a quick trip. WRONG! I had my stuff and was in line in 10 minutes! But the 1 cashier that was open was stuck on a price check or stock lookup or whatever..The line got longer..and longer..and instead of asking the customer she was waiting for to step aside and take one of the other 7 customers she had in line (line went down the aisle) she continued to stand there. Finally, tired of waiting, I walked up and asked her to please call for another clerk. I was told she in fact had called for another cashier they just didn't show up! It gets better..now she walks over to PA and makes an announcement that Coastal is closing in 15 minutes please bring your purchases up front! Seriously? Finally another cashier shows up, and a guy that just walked in struts over in front of this line of folks waiting, and she proceeds to wait on him..and here it comes.. tahdah! She needs a stock check and proceeds to stand there with him waiting, and waiting..omg! Not again!! Now I'm standing with this incredibly long line of people, the poor guy behind me (obviously construction worker) says I would walk out of here but I'm staying at the motel next door and i don't have a clean pair of socks for work tomorrow..(he looked dead tired) All he wanted to do was buy a package of socks.. So now we are all standing in this incredibly l o n g line of folks still waiting while both cashiers wait for whatever it is they're waiting on...Now comes the really good part--Cashier #1 who is still standing with the same customer, walks over to PA and makes the announcement " it is now 7pm and your The Dalles store is closed for the evening" yes..please bring your purchases to the front, we will be open again tomorrow at 8am, ect.. And apparently we will all STILL be here waiting in line when they open! OK, enough!! Do these people have any training in customer service?? Worse customer service!! Went in there a lil before they closed as we walk in one of the cashiers yells at us "we close in 5 minutes" giving us the rudest face we proceed as my husband had been there a day before and he already knew what he wanted. We are walking tours the boots and a employee walks up to us and says " Idk if you have time to shop we are closing in 5 minutes" I let her know we, know what we want and it won't even take us 5 minutes. My husband grabs the boots tries them one last time and the security walks up to us and tells us " we are now close so if you wanna get does today you need to go to the cashiers now! " let you you know it was barely 5:57 this was on a Sunday. Which they close at 6pm. At this point I was already annoyed so as we are walking to the registers I stopped to look at some boots just to look and one of the cashiers gets in my way and says " No,no no more you have to go now!! " like really ask to speak to the person in charge " all he said was " well sorry you feel that way" and walks away. if you need something from a feed store....they have you more than covered. they have awsome poop scooper section, consists of a small rake and also a "dust pan" on a handle. it's my weapon of choice. tons of bird feeders and food, more than i have ever seen! i love looking at the horse "dolls" , I played horses more than I ever played barbies. and all the cute figurines by the front registers. read more

I love this place. This is our second time at this store and today I needed a pair of jeans. Since I am built with a big butt and short legs, it is hard for me to find the perfect jeans!! One of the ladies at the store spent an hour going through EVERYTHING and making sure that I found what I wanted. She worked her butt off and was really awesome and honest. When my pellet stove wasn't working I originally searched the internet in attempt to repair it myself. After I ran into a dead end I went to the nearest Coastal store (the store in Gresham) for advice since that's the company that the previous owner had purchased the stove from a couple years prior. Understanding that I wanted to complete the job myself in order to save myself some money in the repair costs, Darren at Coastal worked with me by listening to my story and provided me with the necessary advice. I made several trips back and forth from my home to Coastal as I worked through the trial and error process. Darren even connected me with the Coastal employee at the Oregon City store who originally sold and installed the stove for the previous owner of my home. After I was unsuccessful in my repair attempts stove technician Corey drove out to my home in Brightwood (15 minutes east of Sandy) from Coastal's Gresham store. After assessing the situation Corey realized that I was given incorrect information as to what needed to be done with the stove-- the dial on the stove mother board was turned to the wrong number setting. The correct setting allowed me stove to immediately work correctly! Since his trip to my home was based on the fact that I was given the wrong advice from another Coastal employee Corey waived his repair fees, and he gave me his business card in case I had any other problems in the future. All Coastal employees involved in my repairs were honest and respectful! I'd definitely recommend them to anyone. read more
