My OB referred me to this office and I blindly trusted the referral. Big mistake. Ladies, if you are referred to this office I would urge you to ask for a referral elsewhere. Go anywhere else if you can. I was excited and anxious as a first time mom for my 20 week scan. I can excuse the long wait, the overcrowded wait room, the transfer of us to a gastroenterologist's office down the hall because there were not enough rooms. I understand that there are a lot of patients and only so much medical staff and doctors. All of those items are fine. I cannot excuse the piss poor communication from this office. First, our ultrasound was done by a tech who truly could not have been more unenthusiastic and disinterested. She seemed bored, and annoyed by her job. She was largely silent and didn't explain what she was doing or what we should be looking for. I left the appointment not understanding anything I had seen. I understand having a bad day (I hope this isn't her normal personality because if it is, yikes.) Personally, my husband works in a stressful field with a lot of death and emergencies. He works overnights often. I cannot imagine him ever treating a patient this way. A bad day is not an excuse. It has now been 3 days since my scan. I have not heard from anyone, much less a doctor. Is my baby normal? Whether he is or isn't, it is apparently not a priority to let me know. Leaving pregnant women, already anxious, completely in the dark is not acceptable. I've spoken to my friends who have recently had children. Their experiences with their anatomy scans have been a 180 from mine. All said they had techs that walked them through each step and answered questions, some even had the scans from the doctors themselves (I understand why that's not always doable, and I don't expect that). So, I'd seek out your anatomy scan elsewhere if at all possible. Is the doctor good? Probably. After 2 scans (12 & 20 week) I've never heard from him or met him. And I will say that nurse practitioner April, who walked through my first scan with me is wonderful, knowledgeable, and kind. But the more I think back on my scan, the more upsetting and frustrating it is for something so important and special to have gone the way it did and to still be totally in the dark as to the results. read more

Terrible Billing Department - Beware! Dr. Sachar was great--knowledgeable and kind. The ultrasound technicians were mostly nice, and the front office staff was polite. However, the billing department is an absolute nightmare! When I arrived, I was asked to pay a copay. I specifically asked if they had verified this with both my primary and secondary insurances, and they assured me they had. After my visit, I called my insurance, only to find out I should not have been charged a copay at all. When I contacted the billing department, they admitted they had NOT actually reached out to my insurance. Even though they acknowledged their mistake, they refused to refund my money right away. Instead, they decided to hold onto it until previous visit claims were processed, which could take who knows how long! How does that make any sense? They made the mistake, yet I'm the one who has to wait indefinitely to get MY money back? It's completely unacceptable. If you're considering this office, beware of the billing department's shady and incompetent practices. I will definitely think twice before returning! read more

This is one of the most in professional Dr. offices I have ever been too. My pregnant wife had an appointment and we were not seen for over an hour and a half after our appointment time. The lines are too long, people in the waiting room get into your personal space. The women who work there are alright, but the doctor is terrible. He is rude, dismissive, uncaring, he basically looks like he loathes his job, carrying a sour and miserable expression all the time. He never once says congratulations to moms-to-be, and his knowledge is limited. He is not capable of applying a case by case analysis. He is completely unlikable and I recommend any expectant mom to switch to a different OB for proper care. read more

While I knew I was going to wait at least an hour to see the doctor, because of previous yelp reviews, the second viktor sachar stepped foot into my room I was immediately fat shamed. Told that even though I passed my GD test with my first pregnancy I "definitely" had GD due to my daughter being born at 9lbs1oz and that "obviously" I had insulin resistance. He didn't bother looking at my chart that stated I lost 110lbs since my last pregnancy and when I told him I did he said HE was right. And then he looked at my almost 4 year old and said "she's on the bigger side too, you should get her tested as well". I'm hoping to find a new MFM FEMALE doctor that won't "diagnose" me based on my appearance. And I hope to never have the displeasure of ever seeing viktor sachar again. read more

I am honestly so thankful that my Primary OB sent me to Dr Sachar's office. Great doctor. Straight to the point. Very Honest and knowledgable. I 100% trust him. Another thing is, his whole team is just amazing... they're all sweet and helpful, especially Kaitlyn. She's been helping me get my insurance back on track the last 3 weeks and I cannot thank her enough for all of the patient, and help she has offered me. I'm 32 weeks pregnant and I could go into labor anytime, so having any type of stress just feels horrible. The doctor delivered bad news to us on two occasions and provided his recommendations. A couple of weeks later, we received a call asking why we missed an appointment. Given the devastating news we received, why would we need a routine scan? This office lacks proper organization and communication. Based on my overall experience, I would recommend seeking care elsewhere. At 36 years old, it is crucial to see a specialist to ensure the well-being of both mother and baby. However, this office takes a cold and impersonal approach--you feel like just another number. I just got off the phone with one of the many inexperienced receptionists, who questioned why I didn't attend my appointment today. I couldn't help but wonder--does the doctor not update a patient's profile after delivering such devastating news about their baby's condition? It makes you seriously question whether they genuinely care about the people they are supposed to help. I don't want to be treated as just another number; I want to be recognized as a human being with emotions. Be prepared for most of your visits to be with the nurse practitioners rather than the doctor, who often cannot provide clear information without consulting with him first. Additionally, if you put your name on the request list for a callback, don't expect to receive one. I tried to contact the office after two weeks of waiting for a response, but I still haven't heard from the doctor himself. I believe he takes on too many patients, making it difficult to feel seen and heard. I will definitely be looking for another perinatal specialist for my next pregnancy. ***WARNING***: If you need answers from the doctor that same day, insist on speaking with him directly and be prepared to wait. This review is specifically for the Long Beach location. I was automatically assigned to the Torrance office by my insurance for weekly non-stress tests for my high risk pregnancy, however they confirmed there was a Long Beach location which was a little closer. When I first went there, I was confused by the address and tried to call their office for directions (on hold for a long time so I eventually figured it out myself). Their office is tiny on the corner, NOT inside the medical building right next to it like Google Maps had me think. I walked into a hot, overcrowded room. Since I was a first time patient, they gave me a large packet to fill out, but there was no where to sit. Their phone call appointment reminder warns you of excessive wait times (60-90 minutes is the norm??) for appointments, and seeing how tiny their office is plus how many people they try to see at the same time I understood why. A gentleman waiting asked if the AC was on and I chimed in that as a very pregnant woman, it felt very hot and uncomfortable inside. They claimed it was on and felt cool to them inside reception area. I stayed one minute and then asked if I could reschedule to a time when less busy. They claimed Thursdays are the busiest (they day I was visiting), so I rescheduled for a Friday a few weeks out, not picky about seeing the actual doctor because you can clearly feel whether your own baby is moving enough during the testing time frame (I have done these tests before). However, I was pleased to learn the office I have been visiting for my high risk ultrasounds (Dr. Kovac's next to Garden Grove hospital) also does the tests and they are always efficient, larger waiting room, no crowds and generous with AC. So I cancelled my upcoming appointment with Coastal. If this is your first pregnancy, I just want to encourage you that you deserve the best care, no matter what type of insurance you have and assure you that there are better places out there! I was referred by my OB to Coastal Perinatal location in Torrance. Everyones pregnancy situation is different, this was my experience.......... after my second visit I started noticing a pattern. The wait times are 2-3 hrs because of the number of patients Scheduled daily. sometimes they send you next door to Mrs. Dr Sachars office (I'm assuming his wife) were a tech will do the ultrasound. I saw Dr. Sachar once after Waiting for 3 hours he told me everything was perfect, yet I needed to keep scheduling ultrasound appointments. I stopped going after the 4th time. Had my last ultrasounds performed at hospitals labor and delivery triage. The wait time to even schedule an app is about 15-20 Minutes or they will hang up on you while you're on hold and will call you back when they're available. Then, weeks after your last visit they will send you a bill needing to collect extra money due to insurance miscalculation. The techs are nice and the office is clean Those are the only two good things I can say about this office. read more

Horrible experience with the billing here. Upon my initial visit they charged me $289 then when I received the explanation of benefits from my insurance it showed I should have only paid $25. Their billing company would not issue my refund til I was done seeing the doctor. Next visit they processed my copay correctly and subtracted it from my refund. Upon my third visit they asked me to pay $270. When I mentioned my refund credit the office staff told me they see I have a credit but I have a deductible to collect which wasn't true. On the way home from my appt the ultrasound tech contacted me due to a concern the doctor saw on the ultrasound after she previously cleared me. Overall low quality care all around. read more

I am beyond grateful to now be a patient of Dr. Sachar. My husband and I met him today, week 11 of my pregnancy, and left with TREMENDOUS peace of mind and deep gratitude for this brilliant doctor. Scheduling was easy, our wait time was maybe 7 minutes, the office is VERY CLEAN, and each staff member (from front desk ladies to the ultrasound tech) is VERY kind and gentle. I was pleasantly surprised to receive more testing than I was expecting (did the blood test for gender & chromosome disorders today!), and the ultrasound tech was AMAZING and honestly educated me so much. Now back to Dr. Sachar: simply put, the doctor is EXCEPTIONAL. I have had PCOS for years (my OB put me on Letrazole prior, which is what helped me get pregnant:) and Dr. Sachar educated us soooo much -- I'm honestly mind blown; I had no idea it's linked to diabetes. Better yet, most of the solutions he presented (for maintaining, treating & preventing it) are all natural: nutrition!!!! He truly took his time explaining everything and answering EVERY single one of my questions. He even looked up a specific magnesium supplement on Amazon to help with my pregnancy constipation. Dr Sachar and all of his support staff are amazing. Having been declared a high risk pregnancy from the beginning due to a medication I take, I was nervous about my journey. What a blessing it became for both my baby and I because had I not had the extra specialized care, I would've never known that my cervix was teetering around the danger zone, that my son had a possible chance of having an unattached tube from his throat to his stomach, or that I would develop preeclampsia (which eventually turned into eclampsia) and caused me to have an emergency induction at 37 weeks. Dr Sachar quickly and efficiently took care of my original (early) due date and pushed it up to the following week. Mind you, this appointment was on a Friday evening meaning neither his office or my OBGYN would even be open to contact. He worked his magic and got all of the paperwork typed up in a matter of quick minutes and to my surprise I was booked by Monday. Dr Sachar is truly the reason why I delivered my beautiful son without him having to be in the NICU or myself having complications due to my preeclampsia. Being high risk might seem scary but having a doctor like Dr Sachar is truly a godsend and as a woman and mother, I'm truly grateful for him. The front desk seem to be the most efficient and polite to patients. As mentioned in majority of reviews, be prepared to wait a ridiculous 45-60 mins... or more. Every visit, there's a new staff member being trained. Obvious high turn overs with staffing. The lack of professionalism, urgency, and compassion from most of the staff in the back shows and could be due to being probably overworked, under appreciated and not properly trained. On several occasions, staff have been overheard gossiping or complaining. Many times they take their lunch right after placing patients into exam rooms, making patients just sit there even longer. This is frustrating and uncomfortable for many pregnant women, especially those "high risk". Communication needs to be improved and the attitudes lost. If you don't like working with people or helping others, find a different job. If you're lucky, you will likely see Dr. Sachar once or twice, and receive phone calls from his NP days or a week later to review your screenings (whether concerning or not). With such knowledgeable practitioners, you'd hope to have more bedside contact and communication from them instead of having to ask the US tech for measurements or pray that you get a telehealth appointment to follow from the NP. What's more disappointing is that this office is used by majority of Torrance Memorial employees, who deserve much better service and care. read more

I credit Dr. Sachar with saving my life and the life of my son. I ended up with pre-eclampsia and a call needed to be made about when to deliver my son. Dr. Sachar made the right call and saved us just before anything could go wrong. It turned out my placenta had just begun to see damage, so he prevented a rupture. Dr. Sachar was able to make this call because he was so involved and invested throughout my entire pregnancy. I am so grateful for him and I wish more doctors were like him. read more

Dr. S and his staff are amazing! I was sent here due to being a Type 1 one Diabetic and his office has monitored me very closely. I have been to his office about 20 times to ensure my baby is growing at an appropriate pace. His staff is kind, professional, and one of the best. Yes the reviews are true about wait times, but patients often forget that wait times are dependent on how well a baby cooperates, which isn't the offices fault. I know first hand my baby has been stubborn at times, which I know in turn pushes the next patient appointment a bit further. There were times I waited 5 minutes and sometimes 2 hours, but I didn't mind, as I knew it was due to Dr. S actually taking his time to review patients throughly. Expect to wait at least an hour every time even though you have an appointment. The waiting room is always full and the office always overbooks, they don't care about your time. They need to space out their patients and appointments instead of cramming so many people in at the same time, very unprofessional and rude. Listen. You are going to WAIT here. Every time. BUT it's worth it. Dr Sachar is the best. I ended up having a very high risk pregnancy with my first and he really put me as a priority. He had me come in every week and was very caring and kind and realistic about what was going to happen. He explains things confidently and calmly. The office staff is busy but usually nice. The wait as I said is absolutely bonkers, but they do tell you to expect that and there are only 2 MFMs in the South Bay and they are both crowded, it is what it is. The doctor is great. However, you will be waiting for over 2 hours, at the least to see him in an absolutely packed waiting room. I write this review to warn you that I strongly suggest you don't make any plans after or plan to return to work after. I always have to take the full or part day off to come for appointments now after having several 2 hour or longer waits. I'm currently waiting almost 3.5 hours. So have to knock the stars down for this. They are just over scheduling way too much. I've literally waited at the ER for less time. I'd hope that the doctors of Torrence memorial have an alternative for the pregnant women who have had to suffer through Costal Perinatal Centers lack of service. To make people who are with child wait without regard for their wellbeing for hours on end should be a punishable offense Sure, one time, this sort of thing could be overlooked, but to constantly overbook your staff so that the people who were very much on time for their appointments sit in that waiting room for 3 hours shows a complete lack of responsibility and respect for the people you claim to be providing care. Before you book an appointment take a look at how many staff members you have on hand and how much work load they can handle. Otherwise quit your jobs and go work at the DMV. read more

Coastal Perinatal is a busssyyy clinic. But Dr. Sachar was the best doctor I could have had in my whole pregnancy. He was always available after every check-up if i had any questions/concerns. If he wasn't in office or office was too busy he would give us a call a few hours later to go over the ultrasound or any questions. read more

I was a patient of Dr Sachar and it was such an amazing experience. He was very thorough, respectful, and very patient with me. I came to him with high risk pregnancy of atrial tachycardia. He put me on Metropolol instead of my cardiologist. Towards the end of my pregnancy my heart was acting up again and i expressed my concerns to him on my appointment, that same day he got me in for my c section. I had a healthy baby girl. OB referred me here and my first appointment was at 3 and didn't leave until after 6pm. Took an hour for them to take my vitals, then waited an hour for my ultrasound and then waited another hour to review the results with the Dr. Apparently this wait time maybe the norm based off other reviews so definitely eat before you come and bring snacks! I was STARVING by the time we got out of there. My OB asked for 2 follow ups, one at 16 weeks and another at 20 week and the doctor lumped them both into one appointment at 20 weeks, despite my OB ordering one at 16 weeks, he wanted to wait. The Torrance office is 40 miles from my house and I was already not happy about that but after the experience of my first appointment I knew I didn't want to come back and got referred to another specialist. read more

I have been going to coastal perinatal center for the majority of my pregnancy due to my age. Today was my last appointment as I'm getting induced this Saturday. I have had the best experience out of all three of my pregnancies going here!! I specifically love how they get me in quickly and how they're so personable and clean! My favorite ultrasound tech was hands-down, Kayden. Every time I went, I would request her because she was so diligent, thorough, kind, personal and overall wonderful as well as extremely professional. She made every experience feel important and special and really helped us understand the fetal development of our baby step-by-step. Her knowledge far exceeded any other ultrasound tech that I've ever had. No question was unanswered and she explained everything with patience. Our final appointment she even spent the time to catch our baby smiling, which melted my and my husband's hearts. I feel blessed to have had this experience and feel so comfortable and excited about delivering my new baby this Saturday with all of the technology and peace of mind provided on his growth and health. Clean and nice facility. Yes it is a long wait but there are signs warning you about the wait and the staff are still nice, friendly, and accommodating as much as they can while you wait. Excellent care. My daughter suffered 2 losses. Our first visit Dr Sachar laid out the plan and assured us No One Loses A Baby once they come here! He's not GOD but he does everything in his power to make sure you give birth to a healthy baby. He's got great bedside manner, is funny, jokes a lot to ease up tense situations, they offer 3D ultrasounds of your baby. Like many dr offices, the provider is greater than the staff, just go in mind with having your healthy baby and you'll be just fine. They weren't terrible but lacked empathy and most were fairly young. As a matter of fact an entire office staff overhaul was taking place during our last visit. We love Dr Sachar and definitely recommend him if you have a high risk pregnancy. read more
