I had a large item to ship and the box that would fit it was the only one left and was slightly damaged and I was upset when I realized I wasn't offered a discount. Then, I was quoted a certain amount on the shipping cost but it wasn't made very clear. I said I didn't want to spend over $40 and surprisingly my total came out to almost $60! And for what??? Oh, the $15 in bubble wrap! The charge for packaging materials which I'm guessing are the "peanuts" and then a charge for "pro packing" the packing job was not "pro" by any means. Such BS. I'm very upset that the price of the bubble wrap was never mentioned before they continued to wrap the item I was shipping. There was a lady working in the back and she had come up to help wrap my item and when the girl up front was finishing my transaction, she just left to go to lunch or something and there were 4 people waiting behind me. The service was okay but over all I suggest asking specific pricing on everything before you get caught with a surprise amount. Despite my experience, I like this post office because it's close and convenient, usually great service and it's a one stop shop. read more

Whoever answered the phone at this business today 10/7 at 12:15pm needs to take a class in customer service and proper phone etiquette. I had a question regarding a package I dropped off earlier in the week and how tracking was "returned to agent". I needed to know if this package happened to return to their place of business.. He was rude unprofessional and wouldn't let me get a word in. He spoke over me every time I tried to speak. I've had a PO box at Coastal Postal for a couple of years and Mary Ann and Tony have always been friendly and efficient. Last week I had a delivery of a huge box. Tony was working and graciously offered to carry it out to my car for me. Unfortunately it wouldn't fit into my car! He then went above and beyond and offered to deliver it to my office after work! I also appreciate that when a package is delivered they immediately contact you by text or email so you know it's arrived. read more

I went in with two beautifully packaged boxes to ship to the East Coast . I was very rudely told that my boxes were poorly packaged, and that it would be 40. for him to repackage the boxes , plus 100. for shipping. I am a fan of constructive criticism , but this guys delivery stinks. A similar thing happened to the woman in front of me. She left in almost tears. Beware!!! Coastal Postal charges 98% mark up on shipping services. I dropped off a package to ship via Fed Ex. I was told it would have to be Fed Ex overnighted to get the package tracked and insured. I thought that it seemed pretty steep to be charged $93.00 for a little 1 lb box, but I had never insured anything before, and so I let it go. The next day, I used the Fed Ex web site to track my package, only to discover that it had NOT been sent overnight, but rather 3 day Saver service. Now I really thought the price was high. I used the Fed Ex website to see what they would have charged me for the package if I had just gone to Fed Ex direct, with all the same insurance extra rate, and it was ONLY $46.00 !!!! I though sureley they just made a mistake and took the info into Coastal Postal to see if they would fix it. the same woman at the counter told me that no mistake had been made and the price was correct. I then asked how she could justify practically doubling Fed Ex's rate, and she told me that I had not done it correctly, even though I had brought the print out clearly showing the correct information. In short, Coastal Postal is a total rip off, at least if it comes to shipping Fed Ex. I will NEVER use them again. read more

If I could give a negative star I would for this company. I've gone to this postal service 3x now just to give it the benefit without a doubt. 1st visit: it was a little slow but I was a new customer and had to get in the system. 2nd visit: my husband and I went in to get paperwork notarized... the owner was there. She was very slow and unfriendly to me. 3rd visit today and will be my last: I came in with 2 packages. One prepaid by ups and the other I needed to pay for postal services. I walked in and she was happily helping a customer (assuming he was a frequent customer). As soon he left it took her a minute to acknowledge me(mind u I was the only customer in line minus the FedEx guy picking up shipment). She asked if it was drop off and I told her one of the 2 is drop off and the other I need to pay for shipment. She took the prepaid shipment and just went on her way to help another customer that was still unloading her package. I stood there politely and she chose to not acknowledge me. I felt my customer needs was not welcomed and wanted and therefore I had walked out. I will never return to this postal service and highly DO NOT recommend unless ur a true local of San Clemente! read more

Employes were nice, the location was great......however the problem i had with them was their pricing ! they charge around x2 the rate it costs when shipping from the post office ( I know this because i had to send a package to a family member that i previously sent through the post office and the price was almost X2 the post office rate with the same box, item and location). read more

The people that work here are nice! I couldn't get The UPS Store to take a UPS Package (charged to my UPS account) , so I had to take it to Coastal Postal! Can you beleive that The UPS Store won't take a UPS package unless you pay them directly? I'm going Fed Ex from now on! Anyway, Coastal Postal people are cool and helped me in a bind. If I could leave zero stars I would. I don't write Yelp reviews very often but this post office was one of the slowest, and just WORST customer service of post offices I have ever been to. I live in San Clemente and usually go to the Post Office off Del Mar street because not only is it convenient but they are so quick and just so nice and accommodating there and I ship things a LOT because I love far from home, but today I had to go to this horrid place to try to get a special box to ship a record. Stood in line for almost a half hour with a cranky baby as they move slower than molasses with the people in front of us and then when I finally got up to the counter they spend another 5-10 minutes trying to get the packages all set and ready to go then I finally am so relieved were almost on our way out- go to pay and she DOESNT accept the only card I had with me like are you kidding me?! I'm sorry it's 2015 going on 16 you should probably get your shit together and accept for than two credit card companies! Or put a large enough sign out that is OBVIOUS you only accept certain companies before we wait 40 MINUTES to ship an overpriced package! Literally what in the world! So oh it gets better I could understand that part... I tell her that this is the only card I have with me and that I don't feel comfortable just leaving my $200 worth of packages there understanding that they already put the paid postage on it I asked for some sort of collateral considering this was a two way street she had something of mine and I would have something of hers. Well when I asked for collateral just some sort of signature or something where I am not just blindly leaving my packages there with them (which i thought was perfectly fair to ask) she SLAPS her business card down in front of me and sent me on out. I am absolutely horrified and dumbfounded at how RUDE and disrespectful you are. Best place to Ship international. I have always gone to USPS as my first stop since it is right next to our business but USPS always has long slow moving lines and then more expensive prices for international shipping. I will now go to coastal postal as my first stop! The two people that work there are very friendly and know what they are doing! I went to Coastal Postal after my bank recommended them for a notary service. Tony was SO very nice and helpful!! I didn't have to wait, was very inexpensive and convenient. Tony even gave me an application for a passport (they also take passport pictures here!) and explained where I need to go to apply for that. Tony even made copies of my documents for free!! Five stars review and shout out to Tony at Coastal Postal. I rushed here on Friday, December 29th just before 4pm pickup time for DHL express. Main reason why I came here was due to uncooperative shipping clerk at my work who would not ship an important international package (I'm too busy. It's month-end!). Unfortunately, I missed the DHL driver by few minutes and I was ready to drive up to Santa Ana which had 5 pm pickup cutoff. Tony voluntarily called the DHL driver, made sure my package had proper paperwork and arranged for DHL to come back to the store for pickup. Great business, and the staff is very friendly. Being in the military and all, I do not like waiting for packages to get delivered to my base, simply because it takes way longer than it should. So I decided to try out a private mailbox. Definitely happy with that decision. Coastal postal sends me both and text message and email as soon as a package arrives. I called first so I wouldn't wast anyone's time and told the women that answered the phone what was in my gift basket ( a few very small bottles of alcohol), she said told that me "no problem" when I got to the store the man said he would not send my gift basket. They would rather wait for a commercial to help you than step away from their TV show. An excellent place to take care of all of your shipping needs! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful! I never worry about my packages getting where they need to go when I ship with them.
