Yet in recent years, we've faced repeated problems getting our security deposits back -- endless delays, vague accusations, and outright lies about the condition of the properties. This past summer was the final straw. After a storm from Hurricane Erin, we reached out several times to have the pool cleaned. We were ignored for most of the week, leaving the pool filthy and unusable for our kids. Still, we cleaned the house thoroughly before leaving -- wiped surfaces, swept floors, scrubbed bathrooms, and made sure everything was in better shape than when we arrived. We even took photos and video as proof. Months later, we were told we wouldn't be getting our security deposit back because the house was supposedly left a "mess." That claim is completely false -- and honestly insulting. Our family includes members with health conditions that made us extra careful about cleanliness. The whole experience has felt dishonest and exploitative. After decades of happy memories in Bethany Beach, it's heartbreaking that Sandcastle Realty has made it stressful to come here. Based on how they've handled our last few rentals, it feels like the owner, Doug, is running a scam -- taking people's deposits under false pretenses and violating Delaware law. The condo was just fine - not fancy but not a sink hole - and the price was right, although it was during the dwindling down point of peak season around Labor Day. For starters, don't even think about an early check in; they don't do it. Check out is at 10am, and check in is at 3pm... that's it. You'd think to yourself, "Good. Give the cleaning staff all the time they need", right? The condo was a mess. It looked like the cleaning staff straightened it up a bit, ran a vacuum over the floor and left. We had dust and filth all along the base boards and air vents, an undeterminable sticky mess on the counter tops, something yellow and crusty on the drapes, the carpet had foodstuff imbedded in it, coffee stains on the back patio, cigarette butts on the floor and the dryer vent was so clogged with lint that if someone were to run the dryer while you were on the patio lint would literally rain down on you like it was confetti and your team just won the Super Bowl. Not to mention that we were under the impression all necessary cleaning supplies would be supplied to us for our visit. That wasn't true. We had to go out and buy cleaning solvent and Windex amongst other things. I doubt the condo owners even have any idea that's going on with their place. And although we didn't meet them, they seemed nice (they left us a bunch of board games). We got a kick out of playing Monopoly one night. That crazy Monopoly man and his moustache... he just can't seem to stay out of jail, can he? In close, maybe you don't care about the cleanliness of a condo you rent from this company... I don't know. I'm just letting you know to expect this scenario because I write Yelp reviews for the American working man, because that's what I am and that's who I care about.

The condo's are well maintained and clean, with strict rules to keep the hooligans from "rushing" the properties. Thunder Island is located directly next to the convention center and is surrounded by water/piers on Bayside. It is encouraged to bring boats and jetskis to tie up to the piers during the summer months. Obviously, I didn't get down into my skivvies for the December/January months but it would be a hoot in the summertime, for sure! The only bummer would be if the convention center were hosting an event.. the traffic, I'm sure would be a hassle. Since the entrance to the condos is located on the same street that patrons take to get to the convention center. I will most definitely be back. See ya on the flipside Ocean City!

If you own a rental property, they will rent it to absolute savages who will destroy your property. Even if you come in as soon as the tenant leaves and see the damage with your own eyes, CB will refuse to hold back any security deposit. Oddly though lots of complaints here are from tenants who rented garbage units through CB and were docked security for clogging drains. Funny because I was told today that clogging brand new plumbing is "wear and tear." Maybe CB is just a giant scam on both ends. The owners get treated like garbage and so do the tenants. I've had either reckless tenants or terrible cleaning crews. But there is no recourse with the tenants when they damage your unit. And they will damage your unit. Vicki Burrs knows one answer to a problem--we don't care. That's her go to when lying doesn't work. But she'll lie too. If you're renting in OC, stay away from CB 118th street. If you own a rental unit stay away from CB Vacations 118th street. Go directly to Vacasa. Hopefully once the transition is over, Vacasa will fire the rude, incompetent staff and replace them with people who take pride in their work. They're a disgrace to the service industry. These agencies are holding on by a thread because AirB&B provides better service for renters and better property management for owners. Plus they cut out the lazy inept middle men. Stay way from Coldwell Banker. They're an embarrassment to themselves and an insult to everyone they deal with.
