On July 12, 2016, our journey started when a neighbor drove into our small cut de sac and hit our brick planter, the block wall behind it, ultimately being stopped by a big apple tree in my adjoining neighbors back yard. Some companies spend time coming out and then never bother to get back to the potential customer with a quote. Bill, from Coastline, came out actually a few minutes before the scheduled time. He gave me a quote on the spot and was willing to work with the City of Cypress on getting the 20' of block wall permitted. Most companies don't want to be bothered which has to make one wonder about the quality of work they would do and where it conforms to industry standards. They completed the block wall along with a couple other small jobs in three days. The job would have been done in one day if workers wouldn't have had to wait for the city inspector to come out before proceeding to the next phase of wall construction. Each day, the workers arrived shortly before 700 am and cleaned up my property before they left at the end of their work day. Coastline Masonry has just completed an amazing backyard project for us. Bill's skill and experience when it comes to expert masonry and building a custom BBQ alone was worth it for us, but to also benefit from his crew's efficiency and professionalism was icing on the cake. Coastline Masonry is the Best. This is one of the best customer service experiences I've had in quite a while. Bill Jordan and his crew are very knowledgeable and helpful. The original floor in my garage was higher than the driveway and angled up. When it would rain, water ran down the garage door and into the garage. The driveway about 68' long was cracked a broken. I had brick flower beds on three sides of the house I hated. I had stucco coming off the bottom of the house from the gardener's weed eater. I found Coastline on the internet and called. They said Bill would be out the next day at 8:30am. The next morning Bill shows up right on time. (What a concept, a contractor actually shows up when he says.) I showed him my concerns. In the garage he suggested saw cutting the floor and angling it down slightly with the driveway. The flower beds he would demo and haul away and build a new flower bed in front with stacked stone He suggested 5" mow strips next to the house to keep the gardener from knocking off the stucco. He said he could start in about 6 weeks and it would take 3 days Six weeks out seem a long time but hey if he's that busy he must be good. Turn out he did the driveway at a house I admired in the next block. I talked with the owner and she was happy with his work. I called and set a date with Bill to pick out the stacked stone, and again He Was Right On Time! On the start date the crew showed up at 7:30. By 3:00 the garage floor was saw cut the drive way and flower beds and my whole front yard were gone and everything cleaned up. I asked them to take out the yard when I saw how fast it scraped up the lawn for the wider driveway. Day two, they dug footings and laid forms for mow strips, flower beds, and driveway. Compacted and installed rebar in driveway and mow strips and built the front planter and installed the stacked stone. Everything cleaned up. Day three, they showed up 7:00am. They poured the driveway and mow strips. The angle on the garage floor you don't even see. All finished at 1:30 Pm everything cleaned up. Two days later it rained and no water in the garage. I can't tell you how happy I'am about that. My experience with Coastline was all Positive. I found Bill to be Very Organized and Very Honest. Extremely unprofessional. I called in for a quote, Bill came the following day had a quick look gave me an estimate. When I called today to clarify his quote and the work he quoted me on (mind you he never measured the other side of my house, but quoted me on it. We wanted to have two pony walls built on both sides of the house) he kept saying he couldn't hear me, "the connection was bad" I advised Bill that am using the same phone I ALWAYS use and never had an issue, perhaps it was his phone. He proceed to say it's not his phone all his bars were up, and basically blew me off, and ended the call with saying "You know what I will just pass on the job" Very unprofessional. Obviously he is the owner of the company, I can't see any employer allowing their employee to be so damn rude. Instead of him pulling to the side of the road and trying to clarify things, it was easier for him to blow me off. In the end we found someone PROEFSSIONAL who got the job, plus more. read more

So about three months ago I scheduled an appointment. An rep shows up at the door and knocked at the door. I was stepping out of the shower and my son told him that I was upstairs. The rep decided to leave because he could not wait. I hurried down and tries to catch him but he was not in sight. I was on the phone with the company not a minute after asking the secretary to have the man return. She told me that she would call him and see what she could do. A few minutes later she called back and told me that he would not return. I asked her if I could speak with the owner given that the rep was unprofessional and left without leaving his name or reason for leaving. . . . She told me that he was the owner Bill. I was flabbergasted and disappointed. I let it go and figured the guy must be very busy. A few weeks later I asked a neighbor about some work he had done in his backyard. He said they were pricey but they did a good job and so I asked him for their info.....it was Coastline. I decided it was worth trying again and I left a message with the secretary. She told me that Bill would call me himself. By now I think Bill is a ghost, an enigma, a make believe character because I have not seen him or heard from him. Today I was pulling up to a house that was having work done and noticed their truck. Again Bill was not there, my neighbor stated that the owner will be seen to set up the deal and to close it out-collect his check, but you will not see him in between. Suffice to say, I will not be making any deals with this company now. Good luck to you if you are fortunate enough to make it beyond the velvet rope with this company. WOW! This company is unprofessional and inflexible. I contacted their office several times to schedule an onsite consultation, with no call back. I finally got them on the third try, scheduled the meeting for between 2-3pm. The estimator showed up 30 minutes early and called me and said he was waiting. I had to rush home from work, and when I arrived at 2:10 pm he was gone. I immediately called him and he said he "just could not wait any longer". We had met with 3 contractors before finding Coastline. Bill designed a new front porch and walkway with gorgeous pavers and brick work in between the front steps. He worked with us to keep the job within our budget. Bill was very professional and on time with appointments and even met us at the supply yard to select material - offering ideas/suggestions that would work best for our yard. His crew and foreman, Luis, were awesome to deal with. His landscaper, Louie and crew, really knew their stuff as well! They arrived promptly at 7am each morning and kept their work area neat and clean. Together, they demoed the old front yard and replaced it with a GORGEOUS new one. I hired Coastline to remove 250 square feet of grass/dirt and pour in concrete. Bill gave me a quote for my rental property and he suggested we meet at the property when I said I wanted to move forward. That was a good idea because he thought I only wanted 145 square feet, but I wanted 250 square feet. He tried to give me the best price he could & he gave me a teacher discount. The work looked great in the end. Additionally, he gave me suggestions on how to deal with my dictator-like neighbor to avoid any future conflict. While Bill and his crew were at the job (they arrived 10 minutes earlier than the 7:00 a.m. time promised, which was fine with me), my neighbor went over to talk to Bill. I can not say enough amazing things about Coastline Masonry. The owner Bill was very accommodating to our schedule and the office staff was always super friendly and always answered the phone. We had some stacked stone installed on some interior wall ( one wall was 15 feet high) it looks truly amazing. We had got 5 bids for this job and Bill was the lowest bib and was able to quote us on the spot. Other contractors would not even get back to us with a price or they were at least double the price for some reason. The team of guys that worked our job showed up exactly on time and were very respectful with the mess and covered all our furniture and floors very well. When they were done they make sure that everything was to checked out by us. They ever mentioned that if we saw something we wanted fixing in the future that we shouldn't hesitate to call. I have dealt with a lot of contractors in doing two full house remodels, and I can honestly say that of all the contractors that I have hired, I would only hire two or three of them again. My backyard was in serious need of a makeover. I decided to get a quote from Coastline Masonry due to the positive reviews on yelp. Once I met Bill and discussed my project with him, I knew my search was over. Bill knows masonry and was, by far, the most knowledgeable and honest of the contractors I met. The project entailed the demo of 600 sq ft of concrete, installed 1300 sq ft of pavers with concrete bands, radius steps and mow stripes. Luis (Bill's foreman) and the rest of the guys were awesome!!! They were prompt, professional and left the work site clean at the end of each work day. We are very, very pleased with the work that Coastline did for us. Bill, the owner, was very professional. He showed up on time for to give us an estimate, and showed up on time on the morning of the job, and we felt their price was competitive and reasonable. Luis, who headed up our project, was extremely pleasant and professional to work with also. We needed our concrete front porch and path torn out and a new and larger porch and new paths to the driveway and sidewalk installed. They did an excellent job, just working off of a simple sketch we had drawn up. When the forms were being installed, the curve they built wasn't as gradual as we wanted, so Luis happily adjusted them until we were satisfied with them. Also, there was an edge of the new walkway that one of the workmen had stepped on and sort of bent down, and when we brought it to Luis's attention and asked if it was too late to fix it, he had it fixed up within minutes. That bend would have been something that would have annoyed us every time we walked by it, so we were very happy that he accommodated us. We recently hired Coastline Masonry to build our front entryway, porch, planter and light pillar. Bill and his crew got the job done in less than a week and the end result is beautiful. Bill had some very good design suggestions and mapped everything out for us to see before work began. The first day started out with at least eight workers who quickly demolished and removed the old cement entry and planter. Everything was taken away, including unwanted plants, shrubs and rocks. We used Coastline Masonry for a fairly large job in Lakewood which included removal of existing driveway and walkway, digging and shaping front yard for future landscaping, preliminary placement of new sprinkler pipes in front yard and three 3" drain lines to the street. Had a 3 foot high privacy wall built with 4 pillars of dry stack ledger stone and a two level curved dry stack entry wall. Installed three different size concrete pavers (about 800 sq. ft.) to replace the old walkway, park strip and driveway with concrete banding. Modified backyard existing planters and laid new concrete side yard. Bill Jordan used our design and ideas and added some new and great ideas including a monolithic concrete cap on our curved wall and pillars. Very pleased with the speed and amount of progressive labor/equipment used in just six days to complete. Pleased with the work and are getting compliments from people almost everyday. Coastline constructed a block wall between my neighbor's property and mine. The wall seems to be of good quality and it was completed in a timely fashion. But dealing with the owner of Coastline was a very unpleasant experience. In retrospect, he differed from other contractors we have worked with in the past in two major ways: 1) he failed to complete a thorough site visit prior to starting his work which would have allowed him to discuss with us how to deal with issues he considered an obstacle; 2) he believed that any parts of our property that he disrupted or destroyed during his work were not his problem. Never before have I dealt with a company or individual who assumed that he/she would leave my property worse off than when he/she started. If you do decide to hire Coastline (though why you would when there are so many other capable masons in the area) be aware of these two things before you sign a contract. read more
