    Nashville hot fries

I have had decent lago experiences, but today fell short. I get you're paying for the location.... but $25 for over cooked calamari is underwhelming no matter the view. The experience was weird from the start. When we walked in before a couple, we were asked table or bar outside, but as we were thinking the host interrupted to say she was going to sit the couple behind us first. It was awkward, not that busy, and her coworkers also were surprised she said it that way. Moving on from that we got Miami Vices, they were good no complaints. Out server Noah was very attentive as well. Nashville fries just alright (prefer the Buffalo ones at Druthers), and the calamari was dried out and not good. They'll stay open because the location not the food.

It is tough to beat the location, right on Saratoga Lake with great water access, awesome views, especially at sunset, and try to catch it all with live music and it's the full package! There were a few things we weren't happy with early on, but I'm glad we've gone back because they have definitely worked through those kinks and issues. Food and drinks are great, servers have all been fantastic, great place to go whether it's for the ambiance or grabbing a fun meal with friends and family!

I would give this review 6 stars if I could because it was that good! Had an 8 PM reservation on Sunday and showed up a little early but they accommodated us. The prettiest druthers location by far, located on the water, and even inside you get a view of the boats and the lake. I wish I got our servers name but she was just incredible, so friendly and attentive, I hope someone from management can figure it out and tell her she's awesome! The food is the best we've had from any druthers location, we loved the pizzas, the poke, and the burrata melon salad was so refreshing! We are not beer people, but there were so many options on tap to choose from. We are already planning our next visit.

Great food, nice ambiance, good service. We'll def come back in summer so we can enjoy the lake view and out door seating.

It's a good thing Lago is by water, because quite frankly, it feels to me like Druthers is jumping the shark. Dinner and drinks here last night, on a table right along the water, were enjoyable, but it feels like Lago is not executing to its full potential. There were plenty of empty tables, but we had to wait 15 minutes to get seated. It was impossible to determine if it was because they had lots of reservations, being Skidmore graduation weekend, or whether they were short-staffed. It took a while for our server to greet us, but once she did, everything came out quickly. Unfortunately they were also out of the beer I wanted. For a restaurant along the water, it really feels like there should be a few more seafood entries available. Parking can be challenging because the lot is irregularly shaped. There's other Druthers sites I prefer over this one, but I'd certainly come back for food and drink, and especially the view.

the ambiance was absolute perfection! came here for lunch with a group of 14 people. would skip the short rib dumplings. druthers burger was delicious. went outside and chilled around the fire pit/had a few beers for a couple hours. just fyi - if you plan to ice skate - you need to bring your own skates

So annoying- management times the wait staff. Didn't like the vibe

Great view of Saratoga Lake, esp at sunset. All open to the outside. Good fish and chips big portions. Friendly waitress Management is dumb- the sand timer was so annoying.

I have loved this place since it opened. I loved the old menu and I was disappointed when they changed it so drastically. I was happy to see that they returned some of the old favorites. My niece and I had lunch there yesterday. I did not realize that they took reservations now so we had a wait. That was my fault. We were supposed to be seated outside but the skies opened up just as we were supposed to be seated so our hostess found a table inside. Our server Sophie was amazing. My niece has celiac and she was careful with the order. Our food was amazing. I give the whole time experience a 10!

Great view of lake. Had an excellent server and really enjoyed food and drinks. Pricey

View is great. Food was ok. Live music was a bonus. Place was slamming busy and there had been a medical event because there was a large police presence, ambulance and fire truck. One of the only places open past 9 on a Saturday night so it was what it was. Mediocre food, not many options, high prices but again you are here to dine on the water.

    Mussels and Fries

This is my 2nd time here since the transition from 550 to Lagos. The first time was a busy summer afternoon lunch. I got a pizza. And it was amazing!! I thought the prices were a little high, but it's more about location for this place. Eating on the water. Nice breeze off the lake. Incredible. Bartenders were friendly, fast, and accommodating. The 2nd time I went was an icy winter night. My friend and I both ordered the $15 Mussels & fries special with the $5 wine! Great price! Unfortunately, many of the mussels in the bowl were closed. But the waitress and manager quickly made up for that with an apology and gave us a new full order of mussels. Even though only about 7 were closed. The fries with curry ketchup were unique but delicious. You can order the mussels in 3 different sauces. I got one. My friend got another. I didn't like either one. Just a simple butter sauce would've been adequate. So I didn't really enjoy the mussels but loved the fries. So I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. Let's see what happens on my next visit.

Some of the best Key Lime Pie I have ever eaten. And I know Key Lime Pie.

This is clearly a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." 550 Waterfront not only had the view but also a really cool menu. Then the owners of Druthers took over and rebranded it. Sorry Lago but Saratoga does not need another pizza and wings place. I know what you're doing (simplicity) and why you're doing it (cost) but you are going to lose an audience of loyal customers (you know, the ones who patronize the restaurant after track season ends) who came not only for the vista of the lake but also for the fun, unique cuisine that was its hallmark. Druthers, keep your tavern persona on Broadway. Dont't make the same mistake that Gaffneys made. Lago needs to put back on the menu the mussels and Mexican corn, for starters. Also hire more staff to manage the tables. Our server was very friendly but service was slow (really slow). And with such a long waiting list, it was puzzling to see so many empty tables - like five or more - that could have been generating revenue for the new owners. I am very disappointed in the new menu. My friend had the Calamari appetizer. The order was huge - like entree size - but that was because the actual calamari was sitting on a pile of "the scraps at the bottom of the fryer basket". No joke. And a shame because the calamari was tender although a bit undercooked on the outside. I ordered Shaved Brussel Sprouts Salad with chicken. While considered an entree salad (please correct me if I am wrong), the portion was small. The bacon bits (itty bitty - like Bacos) were an insult. The chicken, however, was tender and juicy. The bar food which is featured on the restaurant menu is the new offerings. Be well advised: their website still has the old menu displayed (which is why we went there). My friend and I ordered one of the Boozy Milkshakes. Great concept, right? A complete rip-off as there was no alcohol to be found in our adult beverages. Such a disappointment. Bring back the old 550 Waterfront!

Do you take reservations for small parties( 2or 4)?

We there a few days ago, no reservations. First come, first served

Yelp says this place is "temporarily closed." Is that true? And if so, when will it open again?

They will likely open about May 1, 2022. It was May 1 when they opened for the 2021 season.

Does anyone know if they've got a special Sunday brunch menu & would you be so kind as to give a couple examples? Tried to call to no avail probably super busy

As of right now we do not serve brunch. We serve our menu for lunch and dinner starting at 11 A.M. excluding Monday's when we open at 4 P.M. for dinner.

We selected 15 church for the menu and from my past amazing experiences here. Sadly upon arrival we were informed that they placed us at the bar, a family of 4 with a young teen. We asked if any adjustment could be made. The staff tried for about 20min to find a solution and finally said there was nothing they could do. While waiting we sat at the bar and were given menus but none of the staff even offered water while we waited or asked if we wanted a drink. That was another disappointing moment though perhaps they knew that we wouldn't stay. We left after the 20min and tried to find another place but equivalent restaurants were full or an 1.5hr+ wait. We went home. To our surprise I received a call from 15 church just as I was arriving home that they had a cancellation but by then we were too far away to return. Recommend calling and confirming your seating preference before you arrive as there is no way to specify ahead of time if you want to actually have a guaranteed table.

Finally had a chance to try Kindred last week(end)…read more I was honestly won over when we first walked in....we didn't have a reservation but asked if they could accommodate two for dinner. The hostess/server was awesome: not pretentious and looking down her nose at us since we didn't have a reservation. She did say that she needed the table by 7 PM. No problem! That said, it was pretty busy for being early in the evening. Guests kept coming in as we were getting ready to depart. The food that we tried was very good: -the chips with crème fraîche were very nice, but I don't know that I would go out of my way for these again. I really enjoyed the chips themselves... very thin and light ...and quite salty (in a good way). A little bit of fish roe is mixed in for "extra saltiness" and a little bit of a fishy experience in the crème fraîche. -Brussel sprouts for me were the winner! Absolutely delicious and we added some chicken so that we'd have a little bit of protein. Grilled chicken was perfectly flavored and not dry at all. Brussels sprouts had just the right amount of char and umami. -flatbread was honestly my least favorite. We stuck with the basic burrata/Margherita pizza/flatbread, and after eating the brussels sprouts it just didn't hold up in terms of flavor. Some of the other options might be better if you're looking for more of a flavor punch.... but it was served steaming, hot, and freshly made. As more people showed up, it definitely got noisier... so prepare for a bit of a loud environment...pretty much the same situation in all downtown Saratoga restaurants these days. I will definitely go back and try some other items on the menu.

There were many options for bistro tables, booths, or bar seating. They had Horse Racing on the TV so I was a fan. Our server was excellent. I believe his name was Lamar. He had a fork tie pin so it was awesome. We started with the French onion soup that has a duck broth. Our server did an excellent job of describing all of the dishes for us. I thought the soup had excellent flavor and the. Racelette cheese was perfection. It could've been a lot hotter, but that was a theme for most of our dishes. I would give the soup a 4.5 out of five. Next, we had the bread basket. It was on its own scale. 10 of 10. We had a sourdough baguette, a rosemary focaccia, a brioche and a sun-dried tomato lavash. Big portions which you expect because you're paying $15 for Bread. Also came with a ramekin of beautiful, salty butter. Wish it was free, but it was good enough to pay for and I would absolutely order it again. I'm a sucker for a baguette, so that's what I ate the majority of. But the focaccia was also lovely. Made in house with a lovely crust. And the tomato lavash was excellent as well. The brioche tasted fine. It's just more of a breakfast bread to me. Next, we got the tartar. That was phenomenal. I was a little apprehensive because it was large chunks of steak, which I generally like it a little more chopped up.

Our early arrival for dinner at 5:30 revealed a bar almost fully occupied with about sixteen customers. Obviously, it was Happy Hour. It was still quite bright in the bar lounge as we were seated, and lights were dimmed somewhat to add more atmosphere closer to 6PM. We started with a bottle of Saratoga sparkling ($9) as we studied the adult beverage menus. My wife decided upon the Harvest Moon ($17) cocktail, a blend of Curamia Blanco tequila, house fall spices, ginger, lime, and grapefruit. She was expecting it to be spicier and when our server heard this the server offered to have the bartender increase the spicing. It definitely improved the flavoring to both my wife's and my taste preference. I ordered a draft Allagash White ($8) since I had last enjoyed the same during our visit to Milas in Schenectady. For starters, my wife ordered the Cauliflower Salad ($15), a delicious blend of mandoline sliced cauliflower, Castelvetrano olives, pomegranate, pine nut, preserved lemon, and muscatel dressing. The use of the mandoline was an outstanding idea as it presented the cauliflower as a crispier ingredient and prevented it from overpowering the other ingredients. I started with the Onion Soup ($17). I can tell you right now that this was phenomenally rich in flavor with duck broth, a dark baguette that looked to be house made, Vidalia onion, and topped with what I think may have been Raclette or Caciocavallo cheese. Oh, so good but it could have been a bit hotter. As an entrée, my wife chose the Pan Roasted Steelhead ($37) with farro, winter squash, and smoked yogurt. It was not only a beautifully presented dish, but it was also delicious. I couldn't hold back from ordering something that I'd never had the opportunity to eat before - Elk Loin ($42). It was prepared with an espresso rub and served with broccoli rabe, wild mushrooms, huckleberry jus, and gnudi (which I don't think I've ever had before also). The elk was cooked to the chef's recommendation of medium rare. An acquaintance of mine used to say, "sometimes you just order wrong" when he was not excited about what he was served. That may have been my situation with this dish. Elk is a very lean meat, and the chef was correct in recommending it be served medium rare. However, I don't believe the huckleberry jus provided enough moisture to compensate for the lack of fat in the elk. I also was not impressed with the gnudi. A Google search tells me that while it is similar to gnocchi, it is a dumpling that is soft and pillowy, made with ricotta and spinach. The little "dumplings" that were served with the elk were neither soft nor pillowy and didn't seem to have either ricotta or spinach. My disappointment with my entrée, however, had no impact upon our deciding to finish our meal with coffee and dessert. My wife had a Cappuccino ($6) while I choose black coffee ($4). Both were very enjoyable with the Crème Brulee ($14), served with fresh blue berries and strawberries, and the Chocolate Mouse ($14), served with passion fruit, marcona almond, and caramel, both of which we shared. I'm looking forward to trying something else on our next visit.
