Wandering around the area on a cloudy/drizzly Sunday afternoon ... we found ourselves looking for a break and a snack. We had heard about Lago and I wanted to see the lake so we popped in about 2pm. The place was serving a nice lunch crowd, but we didn't have to wait and were quickly sat at an inside table that was on the edge that looked onto the patio/lake. With the drizzly nature, no one was sitting outside so we had a clear view. Service was great and "on top of it." We ordered and thought we'd have to wait a bit and were settling in to just enjoy the lake vibes when a few minutes later our food came out. Quick and efficient! They have a good beer selection... a little something of everything... and lots of fun cocktails to choose from should you wish to indulge. Their food selection was good... leans towards burgers, sandwiches and pizzas. They do have gluten free buns and pizza crust too. Great place for a casual dinner out with great lake vibes! The location is beautiful, but that's unfortunately the only positive thing I can say about our experience. Our party of six arrived around 8:05 p.m. fully expecting a busy Saturday night. We were split between two separate tables due to limited seating, which was understandable. However, after four large parties left and multiple tables became available, we politely asked if we could move so our group could finally sit together. We were refused because the kitchen was "backed up" and they didn't want orders getting mixed up. After waiting 1 hour and 10 minutes, our food finally arrived. One meal was completely wrong despite being ordered with a food allergy in mind, which is unacceptable. To make matters worse, two of the six meals were served cold. After I mentioned we were ready to leave because of the excessive wait, food suddenly started coming out. When we asked for the cold dishes to be remade, we were forced to wait another 40 minutes. The most frustrating part? A table of six seated next to us arrived after we did, ordered after we did, and still received all of their food before ours. There was never a clear explanation for why our table was continually overlooked. Yes, our meal was eventually comped, but after waiting nearly two hours, dealing with an allergy mistake, and receiving cold food, that hardly made up for the experience. Comping a meal doesn't erase poor service or a kitchen that appears unable to handle a busy weekend. The atmosphere is great, but the service was disorganized, the food quality was inconsistent, and the handling of our table was unacceptable. We won't be returning. read more

It's beautifully renovated with a great view. The staff are looking at their phones and the bartenders are sloppily dressed -think: annoyed college co-eds that woke up too late to change out of their kinda dirty sweat pant / pj combos. The whole vibe is relaxed marina chic/barista-snobs serving elevated lake-side pub fare. The food is creative but underwhelming. The beef bulgogi was acceptable. The lobster roll was bleh/meh. Let's be honest though...You're not really going here for food. You're going here to look at the lake and be seen. On a nice day, the wait times are long and the staff are somehow smugly happy to tell you that you have to wait. Overall.....It's fine. Really. It's fine. Go here. I have had decent lago experiences, but today fell short. I get you're paying for the location.... but $25 for over cooked calamari is underwhelming no matter the view. The experience was weird from the start. When we walked in before a couple, we were asked table or bar outside, but as we were thinking the host interrupted to say she was going to sit the couple behind us first. It was awkward, not that busy, and her coworkers also were surprised she said it that way. Moving on from that we got Miami Vices, they were good no complaints. Out server Noah was very attentive as well. Nashville fries just alright (prefer the Buffalo ones at Druthers), and the calamari was dried out and not good. It is tough to beat the location, right on Saratoga Lake with great water access, awesome views, especially at sunset, and try to catch it all with live music and it's the full package! There were a few things we weren't happy with early on, but I'm glad we've gone back because they have definitely worked through those kinks and issues. I would give this review 6 stars if I could because it was that good! Had an 8 PM reservation on Sunday and showed up a little early but they accommodated us. The prettiest druthers location by far, located on the water, and even inside you get a view of the boats and the lake. I wish I got our servers name but she was just incredible, so friendly and attentive, I hope someone from management can figure it out and tell her she's awesome! The food is the best we've had from any druthers location, we loved the pizzas, the poke, and the burrata melon salad was so refreshing! It's a good thing Lago is by water, because quite frankly, it feels to me like Druthers is jumping the shark. Dinner and drinks here last night, on a table right along the water, were enjoyable, but it feels like Lago is not executing to its full potential. There were plenty of empty tables, but we had to wait 15 minutes to get seated. It was impossible to determine if it was because they had lots of reservations, being Skidmore graduation weekend, or whether they were short-staffed. It took a while for our server to greet us, but once she did, everything came out quickly. Unfortunately they were also out of the beer I wanted. For a restaurant along the water, it really feels like there should be a few more seafood entries available. Parking can be challenging because the lot is irregularly shaped. There's other Druthers sites I prefer over this one, but I'd certainly come back for food and drink, and especially the view. read more

I have loved this place since it opened. I loved the old menu and I was disappointed when they changed it so drastically. I was happy to see that they returned some of the old favorites. My niece and I had lunch there yesterday. I did not realize that they took reservations now so we had a wait. That was my fault. We were supposed to be seated outside but the skies opened up just as we were supposed to be seated so our hostess found a table inside. Our server Sophie was amazing. This is my 2nd time here since the transition from 550 to Lagos. The first time was a busy summer afternoon lunch. I got a pizza. And it was amazing!! The 2nd time I went was an icy winter night. My friend and I both ordered the $15 Mussels & fries special with the $5 wine! Great price! Unfortunately, many of the mussels in the bowl were closed. But the waitress and manager quickly made up for that with an apology and gave us a new full order of mussels. Even though only about 7 were closed. The fries with curry ketchup were unique but delicious. You can order the mussels in 3 different sauces. I got one. My friend got another. I didn't like either one. Just a simple butter sauce would've been adequate. So I didn't really enjoy the mussels but loved the fries. So I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. Let's see what happens on my next visit. read more

This is clearly a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." 550 Waterfront not only had the view but also a really cool menu. Then the owners of Druthers took over and rebranded it. Sorry Lago but Saratoga does not need another pizza and wings place. I know what you're doing (simplicity) and why you're doing it (cost) but you are going to lose an audience of loyal customers (you know, the ones who patronize the restaurant after track season ends) who came not only for the vista of the lake but also for the fun, unique cuisine that was its hallmark. Druthers, keep your tavern persona on Broadway. Dont't make the same mistake that Gaffneys made. Lago needs to put back on the menu the mussels and Mexican corn, for starters. Also hire more staff to manage the tables. Our server was very friendly but service was slow (really slow). And with such a long waiting list, it was puzzling to see so many empty tables - like five or more - that could have been generating revenue for the new owners. I am very disappointed in the new menu. My friend had the Calamari appetizer. The order was huge - like entree size - but that was because the actual calamari was sitting on a pile of "the scraps at the bottom of the fryer basket". No joke. And a shame because the calamari was tender although a bit undercooked on the outside. I ordered Shaved Brussel Sprouts Salad with chicken. While considered an entree salad (please correct me if I am wrong), the portion was small. The bacon bits (itty bitty - like Bacos) were an insult. The chicken, however, was tender and juicy. The bar food which is featured on the restaurant menu is the new offerings. Be well advised: their website still has the old menu displayed (which is why we went there). My friend and I ordered one of the Boozy Milkshakes. Great concept, right? A complete rip-off as there was no alcohol to be found in our adult beverages. Such a disappointment. 42 dollars for a lobster roll. As someone who grew up in Connecticut, that price point is beyond laughable... they don't even fleece the NYC area tourists in Mystic/Stonington CT with that price point. The mere idea that they would have to add salt to these salt water critters tells me these folks are clueless in the prep. If you charged 42 dollars in most of New England for a lobster roll, there would be a "For Rent" sign on/in front of your eatery. The Connecticut lobster roll is a better product (no mayo just butter and lobster meat)....but they don't even have a proper New England hot dog roll here. I'll make these myself...and for about 1/3 less. Total price product mismatch. Our food (fish tacos, buffalo pizza and chicken Caesar salad) was tasty and had good flavors. The ambience was modern and there was a cool breeze coming off the lake - seriously, like a dream! Our waiter, Nick, was one of the best we have ever had. His attention to detail and friendly demeanor elevated our experience to the next level (we didn't want to leave). For instance , the poke on the menu currently looks well composed, but the rice is poorly made. Feels too starchy and grainy and lack seasoning. She was quick, attentive, and noticed maybe when we were getting tipsy and offered us water to sober up. The crowd fluctuated throughout the night, but was just the right vibes. Everything I have had there (and friends) has been greasy, flavorless, and served with an attitude. You can actually taste the lack of effort that the cooks didn't put into it. And forget about a follow up visit by your server to see how it tastes or if you need anything. Or if you even like it. Given the absurd pricing of food at this Saratoga Lake restaurant, These are All very small requirements. Actually they are the Bare Minimum of a restaurant at all. When I was leaving they also failed to give my party a gracious Goodbye & Thank You, with an invitation to return. No they had their backs turned with their faces in their phones, indulged in their personal conversations. Didn't even hear us when my father and I Thanked THEM and Wished THEM a good day on our way out the door. After a sub par (error filled) lunch delivered by the horrendously rude service of Sophia, this Last interaction with the restaurant sealed the deal. I will never be back to this establishment. As I surmised in my previous review, with the dining room's overhead doors open to the patio and lake, the din of the full dining room was more acceptable. Even with the background music, we were able to carry on a conversation at our table without difficulty. This being the final Friday before the opening of the flat track, and with the weather cooperating with sunny skies and temperatures in the 80s, it was not surprising that the parking lot was almost full when we arrived for lunch at 11:45 and all the patio seating was occupied. We were promptly seated at one of the open overhead doors where fresh air and a breeze continually wafted throughout our meal. Within about 20 minutes, it looked like the entire dining room was full. We started with sharing their Chips, Salsa, and Guacamole ($13). Standard triangular corn chips with a decent salsa and tasty, freshly made guac. I added a Common Roots Shreddie Session IPA ($8) draft along with the starter. It was refreshing and not too hoppy with a bit of a citrus-fruity flavor. My two dining companions each had the Five Fifty Smash Burgers ($16) which were offered as "pink" or "no pink" preparation. Both friends attested to the juiciness of the burgers, maybe more from the Five Fifty Sauce, and the flavorfulness of the meat. Extra napkins were in order for handheld eating. I tried the Carnitas Tacos ($15) filled with braised pork shoulder, pickled red onions, avocado, topped with shredded cotija, and cilantro. I was surprised at how much pork filling was provided in each of the two tacos. The corn tortillas were soft but did not have much flavor themselves. While there was a fair amount of grease draining from the filling, it was not a significant enough deterrent to otherwise enjoying the tastiness of the tacos. Staff were attentive and helpful throughout. Newly arriving customers were cruising the parking lot waiting for us to vacate spaces for them. read more

Stay for the view. Leave for the "food". Went here on Labor Day w the wife for a lunch date and a burger. Silly me! They don't have burgers. Or fries. Or chicken anything. But we were here so we order some $16 blueberry cocktail thing (just ok) and crispy wings (I'll explain later). Bartender is nice enough and the atmosphere is the same. We get the wings just as the Sysco truck left. Not good. And the menu just sucks. We got an overpriced salad that was mostly greens and no protein option. And no option other than pizza and a bunch of what I can only assume are pre made focaccia sandwiches. We got the mixed Italian, mostly bread and zero condiments.
