You work one on one with a technician and almost feel as if you know the crew by name by the time you leave. Really great experience. Plus! They make a point not to sell me any maintenance that isn't necessary. They'll tell me exactly what needs to be done that day and add on detailed footnotes about what should be done in the next 6 mos. to a year. Brought my Nissan 350z to them to have water pump fixed. I had asked on phone when making apt about the timing chain and it's components as they needed to be altered to get water pump out. Was reassured by service writer that it was no problem and they'd have my car back to me within 1 days. 3 days later my car has been broken by one of there techs and now they are calling me saying I need to pay for the parts and labor there tech broke? Fuck CoAuto. If you want your car fucked up and the owner to not do shit then ya bring your car here for sure! I am now dealing with small claims court as I am sueing them for destroying my property. I've dealt with CoAuto a couple of times since my longtime mechanic died last year, and I think I've found my new place. They do careful and accurate work, and while they're pretty busy, when I went in late on a Friday morning with a minor emergency, they squeezed me in so I could have the car for the weekend. A couple of concerns: They're a "paperless shop," so you get a text to your cell phone, not a paper receipt. If I ever need a record, I won't be able to find it. Just gimme a copy. And they make such a point of explaining how much they plan to check before they'll do what you came in for that it begins to sound like "upselling." I got a detailed note (on my phone) explaining that I needed new windshield wipers for $58 (had a set in the trunk that I'd bought for $14 a few days before but hadn't installed), and they recommended that I change spark plugs--for $438! To be fair, I've never changed plugs on this car, but I've done it on many others. On most, it's about a 10-minute job, and my four plugs cost $10 each. But there's an easy DECLINE option on the text message, and they don't seem to hold a grudge if you use it. All in all, I'm pleased with CoAuto, and I'll certainly go back read more

While searching for a place to repair my auto was attracted to the fact that this business was dog friendly (Otis, the shop pup is fantastic!!) and Vincent was very prompt responding to my email request for a quote. After conversation with James on the phone it was decided that I needed to bring the vehicle in for a level one diagnostic, quoted price for that was $194. Took in at appointed time first thing in the morning with full understanding that I would be leaving the vehicle with them for a day or two. Received a call later that day that Brenton their European specialist was able to diagnose to a certain extent but Mercedes are OFTEN a fickle beast and mine being an older vehicle it is indeed fickle. After much conversation with Brenton have a plan of attack how to proceed but most startling is the fact that because they could not diagnose to their expectations I was only charged a nominal $89 and I have the comfort of knowing that IF I/we can locate what is needed to fix Co Auto will most certainly be there to finish up what needs to be taken care of. They certainly went out of their way thus leaving me feeling like some faith has been restored in humanity (melodramatic I know, but hey, that's how I feel about this experience. read more

Basically paid them $300 to ruin the motor on my car. My car sat in their shop for 2 weeks with a cylinder 6 misfire. My car had never overheated or got anywhere close to overheating before I brought it to them. They quoted me almost 20k for a brand new motor and labor costs AND tried to up sell me on other "recommended maintenance" eg. new wiper blades and new license plate bulbs. Wtf. CoAuto has worked on my vehicle a few times now, and every time, they under-promise and over-deliver. The entire team is kind and respectful. The owners, two brothers, are great mechanics and just all around nice guys. Their new facility is a work of art. They display a ton of local artist's work, and the shop has a beautiful mural on the wall. I've done some work for a number of mechanic shops in town on the IT side of things, and I have never seen a shop as clean as theirs. I once heard a saying, that you can tell how much a tradesman loves his trade by how well he takes care of his tools, and this shop is the epitome of that saying. The "Co," in CoAuto, apparently stands for Community Conscious, and with the number of services, classes, and amount of charity they do for the Reno-Sparks community, really shows that they mean it. Every time I have had my vehicle worked on, they have spent the time to educate me on what they did, why they did it, and how I can take better care of my vehicle. Not to mention, they also provide an amazing warranty and reimbursement for towing, up to a certain amount, for a year or two. I am not sure where else in Reno, you can get the same level of service and warranty, as you can here. I will be taking my vehicle here, from here on out. Co Auto is unlike any other auto shop, Ill give you an example. I got a diagnostic frm auto zone for my check engine light, they gave me a list of parts i needed to replace. It was very expensive. So i give co auto a call and ask them how much it would cost to buy and install all these parts. I talk to Vinnie. The first thing he says is how do you know that you need all this. I tell him about auto zone and he starts telling me the truth about malicious auto company tactics, INSTEAD of taking advantage off my little knowledge about cars, He says that auto zone does this diagnostic to just sell parts and that doesn't really tell you about the underlying problem causing all those codes to pop up. So he suggests to me, instead of throwing parts at it and hoping for the best(Those were his exact words) He asks me to bring the car in for a diagnostic. I didn't want to do it because i thought he was just trying to make money off of me because it costs around $100. Well i end up doing the diagnostic and it turns out that the 5 problems i had were actually being caused by ONE faulty wire that had something to do with my turbo, it cost $18 to buy that part, compared to the $1100 worth of parts i was initially going to buy. This is my first amazing experience with a mechanic and these guys gave me the confidence to keep my car because i now have amazing ppl at co auto, really here to help you with your car and not scam you. The good vibes and smiles these guys give off are completely incredible, i was sad when my car was fixed because i didn't have an excuse to go hang out with them. lol These guys are so great professional and more honest than a preacher! haha Go check em out, you wont be disappointed. BEWARE OF THIS SHOP, people at the office are friendly and you feel welcome but its is not sure your car will be fixed properly. This year, I took my car to Co-Auto shop because the engine light was on and I was concerned about that. The technician assured me the problem would be fixed once they replace certain parts (spark plugs, etc) in the car that would cost more than 1,400. However, They FAILED to warn me it was uncertain that after spending the plus 1,400.00 that the problem would be fixed. Other wise I would had never spend that amount of money.. Well, they not only did not fixed the main issues on my car , but after spending all of that money they made my car worst, for now the engine light is not only permanently on, but flashes when the car comes to a stop, I am very disappointed in this shop, I used to trust them but it seems they no longer care about being honest to costumers. neither care about losing them. read more

I have been to these friendly guys several times, for simple oil changes, and also for a completely blown engine. They are always super honest and fair, and eager to show me what they've discovered with my car (that is, when my Corolla mysteriously died on the highway). They are also incredibly helpful and flexible, always willing to help out their community. When my car was effectively pronounced 'dead' (well not really, but the cost of the repair would have competed with the car's worth), they not only let me keep it there until I figured out my plan of action, but they even counseled me in what kind of used cars to keep an eye out for on the local market. Anthony actually pulled up Craigslist and looked at some cars with me, pointing out ones that he deemed a good value... um, how awesome is that?! Just one of the many reasons I use Co-Auto. While cleaning out console area a penny fell into cellphone charger jack blowing fuse. I could not find what fuse blew. I was going to wait for regular maintenance but something came up & I needed to take a last minute 509 mile trip. They got me in, found the fuse & got me on my was in less than 1/2 hour. No charge. They got me up and running that day and put up with a ton of my phone calls asking questions. They were courteous and professional! My total bill is always lower than quoted which is always a pleasant surprise and quite unique for the industry. As a firm believer that no company is perfect and what makes a company AMAZING is how they resolve complaints. After my last visit I noticed my vehicle was acting different, they picked up my vehicle from my home (15 miles from the shop) resolved the minor issue, then brought my vehicle back to my home, Washed.
