I have been to these friendly guys several times, for simple oil changes, and also for a completely blown engine. They are always super honest and fair, and eager to show me what they've discovered with my car (that is, when my Corolla mysteriously died on the highway). They are also incredibly helpful and flexible, always willing to help out their community. When my car was effectively pronounced 'dead' (well not really, but the cost of the repair would have competed with the car's worth), they not only let me keep it there until I figured out my plan of action, but they even counseled me in what kind of used cars to keep an eye out for on the local market. My story is long so I'm going to try the condensed version. Someone who I respect referred me to CoAuto, they were really busy but I wanted to wait to see them. It's hard to find a good mechanic!! We go back and forth a few times about timelines and work to be done but we're both easy-going so no worries. Fast forward, I need to pick up the car &...the bottom drops out of my life, not to share too much, but it was bad, close family member; drug overdose (survived), subsequent treatment and new full-time guardian to the best baby ever. Took my 2013 Mercedes in for the 30K service. I was assured that they could complete the inspection. They had the car from 9 in the morning until late afternoon. They didn't complete the inspection as they don't have the equipment. There was also an inoperative fan system that I didn't find out about until I read the emailed inspection report the next day. They could have called me and replaced the part. Now I have to take the car into another repair facility to complete the work. read more

I love this place! I found CoAuto here on Yelp after having taken my car in - twice - to another shop for an emissions failure. Both times after leaving the prior shop, the check engine light came back on and I was unable to get my smog done. I made yet another appointment with the other shop but then decided against it because I was not at all pleased with having to pay a third expensive diagnostic fee for the same problem I went in for the very first time. Stopped into CoAuto to speak with them about the issue and they fit me right in. I was told what I could expect and when, and they did exactly what they said they would. I received a text with a link to go view pictures of what they found with my vehicle and what was needed. I received a follow up call approximately 15 minutes later asking if I had any questions and thoroughly explaining what was sent. They promised to have my vehicle done by the end of the day, and it was ready when I got off work. The mechanic took time to explain things to me, as did the people who were checking me out. For the diagnostic and repairs (including something additional I requested), it was actually less than the two diagnostics I had paid for previously with the other shop! They also suggested I have an inspection done that turned out not to be needed so I wasn't even charged for it. I had this work done at the beginning of the month but waited to post my review to see what happened due to my last experience. But this time my car passed smog and the check engine light actually stayed off!!! These guys really do care about their work product and don't try to sell you what you don't need. They are able to explain things in a way that a typical person who doesn't know about cars can understand, but not at all in a condescending way. I will definitely go back to CoAuto. Ii can say with certainty I have never enjoyed taking my car in for repair - that is until I found CoAuto. I wouldn't have believed it - yes, CoAuto had been recommended to me by a friend in the neighborhood, but really? Yes, really - the reception area is welcoming and pleasant to hang out in if you're going to wait and the receptionist is delightful. The technician does a complete diagnostic before touching a thing and gives full details with a nifty explanation sheet so the customer can make educated decisions about their vehicle. My repairs ended up taking longer than anticipated so they even rented a vehicle for me to use for the day. The customer service is incredible - above and beyond anything I've experienced. I called CoAuto on the advice of a friend to get an estimate on replacing a head gasket, water pump, and timing belt for a car I was thinking about purchasing. Anthony not only worked up a quote for me and emailed it to me in writing, he also asked questions about my situation and suggested I get the vehicle inspected before purchasing. Realizing the sense of urgency that can sometimes come with a private party car purchase, he offered to fit me in on the same day and explained the entire process in detail. I haven't even taken my cars there yet, but he was so patient with my questions, was never in a rush to get me off the phone, and never made me feel ignorant about the topic. This morning I received a follow up email from him checking to see if I ended up buying the car and again offering to answer any questions I might have, but was not at all pushy about it. It's nice to have found not only a good, honest mechanic in town, but also one who has a fantastic sense of customer service and knows what it means to earn his customers' business. I'm so happy I found this shop! Thanks to all the positive reviews on Yelp, I decided to try them out and I was more than pleasantly surprised. My truck sounded like I was dragging a huge chain on the passenger side when accelerating only. They were able to get me in quickly and were able to find and fix my problem much faster and cheaper than I anticipated. I am truly excited to have found a shop to take all my vehicles to in the future. It's so hard finding a trustworthy mechanic (especially for women) and I really believe I finally have one. My whole family will now be taking their vehicles to them. They have an amazing warranty of 24 months or 24k miles and a year of free roadside assistance (for any reason...not just what they fixed). I took my car in toe have the check engine light analysed. My engine oil was 4 quarts low and I had metal to metal brakes. They said they could not test drive it unless the brakes were fixed and the oil changed. This is an older car and I did not want to put a bunch of money in it if there was something major. So they fixed the brakes, changed the oil and did their initial diagnostics. The oil change was over $100.00 which included rotating the tires. I told them I did not need the tires rotated but they said it was part of the service and they just don't change oil unless you pay for the total package.So my initial bill came to over $800.00. There conclusion was that the code came up saying I need 3 other diagnostics test done which will cost an additional $200.00 for total over $1000.00. At this point I took my car back and still have no clue what is wrong with it. When I take it to the salvage yard it will have clean oil and new brakes. In all fairness they took of the cost for the initial diagonals and we had a communication problem which contributed the situation. I still have no clue what is wrong with the car. One note is that there estimate for the oil change was around $116.00 for changing the oil, rotating the tires and checking the fluid, etc. I can get the same oil change a Jiffy Lube for around $75.00 read more

I really wanted my experience to be a good one since I liked what I'd heard about their involvement in the community, however, I was disappointed when after spending over $600 to diagnose and repair the problem with my car, it still wasn't fixed. I took my car back and explained that the same problems existed as before they worked on it, and it was eventually discovered that a fairly simple thing had been overlooked. I requested that the extra expense of fixing the part that was originally overlooked be refunded ($64), but they would only consider a credit on my account. I won't be returning, so a credit won't help. read more

I've gone to them twice now. First for radiator problems, and this time, I originally I went to see them for a quick check of the low tire pressure difference in one of my tires. However, on the way to their shop, my engine light turned on. Even though it was out of the blue, they tried their best to get me in because I had to go to California the next day to help a family member during this pandemic. These guys immediately started working on my car and got me out within the hour! I had confidence that I can safely go knowing what the issue was and that they fixed it. My new-to-me car's check engine light came on on a Thursday before I needed to drive it on a long road trip. I called CoAuto first thing on Friday morning and explained that I needed to know what was wrong right away. Despite being fully booked, they were able to look at my car and determine that the issue wasn't something that needed to be fixed immediately. They charged a fair price for the diagnosis and didn't exaggerate the urgency of the issue - even knowing that would mean that I wouldn't be able to bring the car to them for the repair later. These guys are not cheap. Any place with an art gallery in the front is never going to be cheap. My wife's car is a Land Rover. I'm not rich and probably have no business owning that car. But I digress. So I needed some work done and some other work re-done because I didn't trust the first mechanic's work. I took it to these guys and they got the work done. The office staff was super awesome and kept me informed via phone. They have an automated email system for signing off on services you may need (another sign that I can't afford these guys). They sell the heck out of diagnostics and they charge a lot for it too, but I know my vehicle takes a while when you're in the computer. Overall I'd say I like these guys a lot. They do charge a bit more than I can afford but they were super cool and they got the job done. They did try to sell me a couple extra services, but they weren't pushy when I declined. Up selling is a sign of a proactive staff that cares about keeping the business open. Those are the kind of people I want working on my wife's car. A tool they will use to bring you in the door. I'm sure they are so sorry I didn't enjoy my experience. People make a company. The policy those employees follow also form the company. So be ready to be dazzled by art, free wifi, and this layed back attitude as you pay 3× the going rate and also pay for extra service you didn't need. They fixed the problem... and then some. Do yourself a favor spend some time researching your car symptoms call around for quotes and avoid paying an unreasonable amount here. Great shop, very respectful and professional staff. Brought them my 1995 4runner for a timing belt job. When I go to pick it up, it was about 60$ more than I was quoted. When they did the job, I ended up needing a serpentine belt and a radiator cap. I also work in a trade and know that sometimes it must be done. After explaining, I was ready to pay to extra. The owner waved the difference because they didn't call me. I will go back for more work, I will send my friends. They did a great job. read more

I found myself stranded in Reno, my Lincoln's engine missing badly (with the Service Engine light flashing), and I didn't know who to ask for reliable mechanic. I chose Co Auto based on the Yelp reviews, and they were right on! I arrived early, before they opened. Anthony happened to be outside, and he came over and asked if he could help. I explained the situation and background. He listened patiently, taking it all in (there was a bit of a backstory which I am sparing you here), and then reassuringly detailed the steps his shop would take to diagnose and repair the problem, what it would cost and when they could start. It consisted of the most professional high tech process I've ever encountered for auto repair. I left the car, and even sooner than predicted I received this incredibly detailed text message with scope photos and graphs of plug firing performance, and a clear indication that plug #3 was the culprit. When I called to authorize the repair, they told me that they had gone ahead and replaced the plug while they were in there, and the total charge was just the previously agreed upon diagnosis fee. I picked up the car, and it's still purring like a kitten three months later. I have never been so impressed and pleased with an auto repair shop as I am with Co Auto, and I've owned cars for over 50 years. Their shop is very clean and well equipped, and everyone there with whom I dealt is highly professional. On top of all this, they are fair and honest.
