The team radically transformed our backyard to a wonderful space. They were incredibly professional and clearly have a plan and know what they're doing. They also took great steps to keep our house clean during the project ( they had to trek through our downstairs playroom to access the backyard, hauling debris, plants, and dirt through and avoiding making a mess). We couldn't recommend them more. Thank you!

We gave him a general idea of what we were looking for. He came back with a rough sketch of what we were looking for, and an estimate within our budget that included hardscaping *and* landscaping, along with irrigation and a contingency budget. (Lots of contractors we spoke to did landscaping or hardscaping, but not both; and none came with design ideas.) As demolition was ending, Monica came back with more specific designs, including for our deck and specific pollinator-friendly and low-water plants. The design discussion was collaborative and she took into account that the yard would be used by dogs and kids (thus plants needed to withstand less-than-mindful foot traffic). The crew were always on time and left the site (and our garage) cleaner than they found it. Thank you to Rob, Monica, Ryan, Mick, Oscar, and Keith for a fabulous job! As you'll see from before pics, the concrete deck was uneven, small, and the yard was a weedy sand pit. Now it's an amazing entertainment space where the kids can play safely, bees and hummingbirds can catch a meal, and then rest of us can hang out and enjoy!

We do like the final layout and appreciate how efficiently he used the space on our narrow lot. However, there were several significant issues with the process that would keep us from working with him again or recommending him to others. Design Process & Deliverables The final plans were clear and professionally drafted from a contractor's perspective, but they were essentially blueprint-style drawings. We understood going into the project that we would not be receiving full 3-D renderings. However, Seed Studio's website features conceptual sketches and visual representations of designs, which led us to expect that we would receive something similar to help visualize the finished project. Instead, we received only technical plans. For the fees charged, we expected more client-friendly presentation materials and drawings. We also found Steve somewhat unreceptive to feedback once he had settled on a design direction. While he listened to our input, it often felt as though he already had a vision for the project and was not particularly interested in incorporating significant client preferences that differed from that vision. One surprise was the budget. The materials and design choices ultimately specified in the plans ended up costing nearly double the budget range we had initially discussed. We understand that pricing can evolve during a project, but the final design moved so far beyond our stated budget that we would have appreciated more proactive guidance and discussion along the way. Additionally, many of the materials Steve specified were expensive specialty products with long lead times. While they may have been attractive design choices, they added significant cost and complexity to the project. Both contractors we worked with struggled to install certain materials without damage, which created additional delays, expense, and frustration. Contractor Recommendations Steve strongly encouraged us to use a particular contractor from Redwood City, explaining that he wanted to use them more frequently on his South Bay projects. Based in part on his recommendation, we moved forward with them despite some reservations. Unfortunately, that relationship did not work out and we ultimately had to terminate them from the project. While the contractor's performance was certainly their responsibility, we were disappointed that Steve was largely unwilling to become involved when serious issues arose, despite having advocated for them so strongly. Afterward, Steve recommended another contractor whom he regularly works with. They were more familiar with his designs and initially things progressed more smoothly but then we also experienced damage and delays with them. Construction Oversight & Client Support What ultimately disappointed us most was not just the contractors themselves, but Steve's lack of involvement once construction began. The project that was initially expected to take roughly a few months stretched into over 1 year. During that time there were significant delays, damaged materials, scheduling issues, and long stretches where progress slowed dramatically. We were not expecting Steve to manage construction or solve every problem. However, given the size of the project, the substantial design fees, and the fact that both contractors had come through his recommendations, we expected at least occasional check-ins or some level of interest in how the project was progressing. Instead, it felt as though once the design work was completed and final payment was received, his involvement effectively ended. He never checked in, asked how construction was going, or showed interest in seeing how his design was being executed. While ongoing support may not have been formally included in his scope of work, we found the lack of engagement surprising. Most homeowners would reasonably expect their designer to have some interest in the success of a project that represents their work and reputation. Overall We are happy with the overall design concept and how our narrow lot was ultimately utilized. However, the experience getting there was far more stressful, expensive, and time-consuming than we expected. If you decide to work with Seed Studio, our advice would be: * Be very clear and firm about your budget and monitor design decisions closely. * expect only blueprint-style plans without additional visualization materials. * Do not expect ongoing involvement or support once construction begins. - independently vet contractors regardless of his recommendations

When Carlos and the team came for the actual project, they went above and beyond to deliver the project outcomes. I would highly recommend them to do any landscaping work you may have. Their front office, supervisors and project staff are completely customer oriented. Shout out to Rachel, Daniel, Dorian, Francisco and Eli. I found them on Yelp and their profile and reviews gave us the perception of a high quality and professional landscape company. as such I felt their pricing may be a bit high. I used Yelp to contact and communicate with them initially. Rachel impressively returned my request for information the same day. I also reached out to 2 other companies at the same time. My initial request was for weed clearing and contouring the front yard. They in fact quoted the highest price for this work. I then asked the three firms to quote the entire front yard landscaping project and this is where Go Green Landscape won me over. I had a plan sketch drawing of the yard with dimensions and notes of what we were looking for. Daniel came out to review this with me. He was patience and knowledgeable to the point where I felt comfortable working with Go Green. (I suggest you have some plans prepared so they can quote properly.) I gave them materials and finishes we desired and wanted to match some existing work we had done. Their quote came back detailed and precise. Everything was documented and clear. Granted we went back and forth a few times to make sure all items, details and costs were accounted for but Rachel handled this like a champ. Dorian, Francisco, Eli and the Team came out to start work. Let me just say these guys know what they are doing. They cleared the front yard in the first day! Then area by area, section by section they worked with me to bring our front yard concept to life. We opted for a super low maintenance design. Retaining wall blocks, pavers, crushed rock, artificial turf and river rock. The quality of care and professional work they provided will impress you. They went back and forth to dump site to drop off waste and to vendors to pick up materials as needed. They shifted workers from job to job as the work progressed. Seems like a well oiled machine with good organization. All in all the work was done timely and we are very happy with the final product. Give them a call!! Check out our before and after images

Tsering took our small, weirdly shaped, overgrown backyard and transformed it into a functional piece of art--all in only four weeks! We are so happy that our son will be able to enjoy it for years to come. Tsering is not just a contractor, but an artist and a craftsman. He does everything from start to finish. He provides a glimmer of his vision early on, in a simple one-page design. Once he starts working, he refines that vision and brings it to life with his amazing team. At the end of each day, we were shocked at how much they got done and at the quality of the craftsmanship. Tsering takes incredible pride in his work. After designing and building a beautiful fence for us, he geeked out over some of special hardware he installed to make it extra secure (and we otherwise would not have noticed). Moments like that came up during each phase of the project. Tsering also used the best materials, even when left to his discretion. He purchased more Ipe wood, poured more concrete, and even bought a bigger maple tree than in the estimate. (He did not charge us extra.) During the course of our project, Tsering also found many ways to improve our backyard (and home) that went beyond the scope of the project. He re-stucco'd an old balcony, re-did the weatherproofing of an old door, sawed through several busted lockboxes, and added an extra little Ipe wall. Because he was ahead of schedule on the project, he didn't charge us for any of it (not even materials). We've attached a few before and after photos, but they honestly barely do justice to his work. Tsering is one of a kind. If you want a backyard that looks like his portfolio, you should hire him. We are hoping that one day we'll be able to get on his calendar for our front yard as well.

From our first meeting, Tsering had a creative vision for the space, more nuanced than other contractors we met. We appreciate craftsmen like Tsering who bring a strong POV on the right way to do things, more than just building to a spec, and steer you away from bad decisions. Tsering personally supervised our project, and was onsite every day, often for significant periods of time. This is a very collaborative, hands-on, personalized approach from a small team, not a huge operation with many crews in the field. You feel like he treats your project like his own, with a high quality of work and attention to detail. It is a very cohesive design, site plan, materials, plants all working together beautifully. Tsering is great to work with - we appreciate his easy-going nature, patience, and sense of humor. Cannot recommend more highly.

It was one of our largest house projects to date with many additional findings (a crumbling foundation wall, trash dumped under our deck, rotting fence posts, etc) that were replaced during project construction. The additional charges amounted to a little over 10% of our estimated budget, which was extremely reasonable given the scale and scope of the project. Lastly, communication was thoughtful and responsive with 1-2 day response times and onsite visits, even though Cristian started the project with a one-month old.
