I was in and out in…read moreabout 30 seconds, but that 30 seconds was better than any time I've ever spent in a UPS Store, Fed-Ex shop, or post office: I didn't have to wait, I was smiled at, and the dude behind the counter was clearly knowledgeable and didn't have a vacant, I-hate-everybody look in his eyes. I thought to myself, I'm gonna come back. And I did. And I do. Whatever your shipping needs, they've got it covered. They're smart, and quick, and helpful. You're dealing with the same guys every time, instead of a different manager every week (let alone employee) because working for Fed Ex is probably awful. So now I go past the Fed Ex shop on my corner, and walk an extra 10 minutes because I'd rather deal with nice, efficient, actual people that don't seem to hate me. Sure, there's a wait sometimes because this is Brooklyn, and I'm not the only person in the neighborhood that's figured out (A) Brooklyn Postal Center is a good spot and (B) shopping local is better for everyone. But the line moves quick, and even the people waiting with you are nicer over here.

They offer international shipping, FedEx, UPS, USPS (with pick ups once daily) and DHL. They also offer Fax services (both sending and receiving) and sell stamps, shipping supplies including boxes, bubble wrap, and a wide variety of moving boxes. Also among their services is packing, shipping, printing (black & white or color) and business services. A1 also rents mailboxes which can be safer than having packages delivered to your home (and worrying about porch pirates) or being concerned if you're traveling. They offer a free "email check" so you avoid wasting a trip and it's possible to call ahead to see if you have mail. A1 also forwards mail. You can separate your business from your personal mail by using their address. We've had nothing but great experiences at A1, shipping, faxing, and printing documents. Tony and Nick are both friendly and extremely helpful. It's great to know all these services are available so close to home and prices are affordable. Bravo Tony and Nick!

There were 3 guys at the front desk yesterday and when they gave me a price of $26.18 to mail a 1pd 9 oz package by UPS from Brooklyn to Staten Island, not overnight, not express, just standard UPS ground residential, I couldn't believe it. I asked them what their service fee was and not one of them would answer me, and it is not listed separately on the receipt. Then I asked them how much USPS would cost and I was told almost $24 when it is usually around $9 and change there. These prices are outrageous, and I think that we should have the right to know what kind of service fees they are charging us. I would never ever go back there again. Am I allowed to call them thieves?

When I called to ask about it, the older man who answered the phone yelled at me and spoke in a condescending way. Extremely unprofessional and unpleasant customer service. Other reviews seem to reflect similar experiences. They also charge inconsistent and random fees -- every visit, the total seems to change for no clear reason.
