It's rare to find a highly skilled cobbler these days. Getting into well-made shoes, specifically goodyear welted construction, one thing that people will need is a good cobbler for when you need to get a resole or repair done. I got a pair of leather soled shoes and unfortunately with the way I walk, the toes started wearing out super fast, even after a few wears. It's the nature of the material, and there are compromises. Did my research and found Sunny had done an install of metal toe-tips on the exact same model of shoe that I had, and came highly recommended. The tips were worn out so badly that there needed to be extra leather built up, and you can tell the care, craftsmanship, and dedication to making them look perfect. No sharp edges, and the install looks really sharp. Beyond that, communication is top notch. I think I was rather persistant, but he always answered questions in a timely manner and kept me updated on the progress. I am really glad that I found Sunny. He exemplifies an ideal craftsman and I hope to continue bringing him my business in the future. read more

They are way too expensive. I was charged nearly $70 for a rubber sole protector and taps on the heals. I will never go back.

My wife's Asolo hiking boots were in need of much repair. The boots midsoles simply disintegrated after many miles on the trails. I took the boots to this cobbler and was amazed at the quality of their workmanship when I picked the boots up initially. My wife wore the resoled boots the following weekend and within two miles into the hike, both toes of the new sole began to peel away. Upon closer inspection of the boot, its obvious the cobbler did not put enough glue around the toe area. In fact there were gaps around the perimeter of the sole where one can put fingernails into the space between the leather and sole. I'm disappointed in this cobblers workmanship. My search for a good cobbler continues. read more

Great service! Very responsive, needed the heels on my shoes repaired - came out well!

The customer service at this mall shoe repair shop is nonexistent. The man helping me was rude, dismissive and bordered on being abusive because I innocently questioned how do they handle customer dissatisfaction when they require prepayment for service. The man barely spoke English so I'm not sure exactly what he was trying to say when he practically threw my credit card back at me and indicated he wouldn't do the work. I'm not convinced he was not being sexist and racist, either. There was absolutely no reason for him to treat a well-intentioned customer like that. I'm allowed to ask questions about MY shoes that I'm paying you to repair. I will be contacting BBB and the Arundel Mills Mall management office to file a complaint. It's ridiculous that he even thinks he can get away with treating customers that way! Don't waste your time and energy going here, unless you like being treated like the scum of the earth by an owner who doesn't think it's important to learn how to communicate with his customers. read more

What a great place. I took my suitcase to Hakky while I was visiting in Maryland, because the airline had ripped off the handle. I needed it repaired before I flew home. To complicate matters, the shoe repairman at home already had attempted to repair it a year ago and had said that there was no way to do a proper job on it. His advice: buy a new bag. Well, it's my favorite bag, so I just continued to use it with success, until I landed in Maryland. The young man at Hakky seemed unfazed by my doubts that the bag could be salvaged. He said he would put stronger rivets into the frame and he needed three days. I didn't like paying in advance for something I was pretty sure he couldn't do, but I was stuck. When I went back, the bag was ready on time, reinforced stronger than it has ever been and the repair was done neatly and attractively. Hakky saved my favorite bag and the rest of my trip. Now I lack confidence in my shoe repair guy at home. Maybe I'll have to start shipping my repair items to Maryland. Good work, Hakky! Thank you. The only area that might need a bit of improvement is in relating to customers. The young man was awfully brusque, not friendly and didn't make eye contact. I was sooo devastated when I completely tore the patent on the heel of my Louboutins (I'm talking completely torn where you could see the metal in the heel)! I swore they were ruined & honestly planned on selling them to get money to buy a completely new pair. Took them to Neiman Marcus where I purchased them from in hopes to have them shipped out and fixed. They said that they couldn't (womp) and recommended me to the shoe shop located in the mall. I took them there and they were able to completely patch the tear with new patent. You can see in the picture where they repatched the leather. But they look 100x better than they did before I'm soooo happy! The service took about 8 days (not bad), but I was in no rush. The guy who does the shoes even told me to bring both shoes in to get the soles redone and rubberized so that they will be nonslip, and so the paint won't scratch off. This is the 1 place that draws me into the Arundel Mills mall. They will actually install Vibram sole protectors while you wait, which I've never heard of. I drop them off and come back in a half hour, and they're DONE! Typically I have to wait at least a week, and that's for the best cobblers. I'm always astounded by how little they charge for services that are usually somewhat expensive. For $4, they will hammer in toe-tabs on the spot. For $8, they'll stretch the shoes (that takes 3 days though). I won't go anywhere else for shoe services! Fast, effective service, no BS. read more

Shoe repair places are so hard to find these days. Most people just toss them out when the heels break or are worn. But shoes can be resoled, restitched, and recolored if needed. I got a pair of Ralph Lauren boots for Christmas that I only wore twice and absolutely loved. The second time I wore them I scratched through the leather by accident and was extremely disappointed. I needed a zipper replaced on my shoe, with the glowing reviews from here it seemed as if they can work magic. He looked at my zipper and within 10 seconds said that he couldn't fix it because they "don't have that kind of zipper," with no further explaining. I am giving two stars because he seemed to know what he was talking about and the lady in front of me was receiving excellent service but I feel like a specialty service should be reviewed based on what they can't do as well as they can and I feel like being told no based on inventory is a poor excuse. I am left with the questions of, "Why can't they order that kind of zipper?" or "what if I found it and brought it to them?" This guy is the real deal! Today I had my first experience with Cobbler and Company. I took him three pair of very expensive loafers; one pair of Cole Haan and two pair of Bally's. The Cole Haan required new heels, the sole on one pair of Bally's was loose and I thought needed just some adhesive. The other pair of Bally's was scuffed up and I thought beyond any sort of appealing appearance. In less than three hours, the new heels had been added to the Cole Haan's, adhesive AND stitching had been applied to the Bally's with the loose sole, and those scuffed up Bally's were "spit shinned" beyond belief. I'm a retired Army Colonel, so I can appreciate a good shine when I see one. This gentleman displayed outstanding customer service, first class advice, and a level of craftsmanship and professionalism that I have not seen in a shoe shop in a very long time. And his charges were more than reasonable. A $55.00 bill for all of this top quality services says to me, and I say to him and to you that he now has a new customer.
