My friends and I were looking for a place for lunch and we came across this place.. I think they are famous for their omakase at dinner time.. so we just want to try it out and see what it is like.. We went right when they open.. and they have a small parking lot behind the building so parking might turn into an issue if there are more people? The staff was nice, so you order at the counter and then you sat down and they will bring the food to you.. the place wasn't crazy big.. I would say maybe 4 tables or so and chair by the counter? They do have different kind of bubble tea so if you like.. the lunch menu was small, maybe they really put their focus on dinner? I ordered the salmon don, and my friends both ordered the chirachi don.. To be honest, the food took a while to come.. and the portion was ok.. I was hoping the fish was bigger, but then I guess it's lunch.. they also gave us a roll on the house while we were waiting.. the food taste good.. nothing too crazy, but I guess I have to come back for dinner to see if the hype is real.. read more

Ohh! Such a fun little place to get tea! Stopped by to try it out and had the Matcha Ube latte with boba and my husband had the Matcha Sakura Frappe. The drinks were delicious. Definitely more of a treat but super yummy and colorful. The service was friendly and super helpful. I asked about a million questions about all the drinks and she helped me decide on one. Hubby was looking for a restaurant to take me out for my birthday. He picked out this place Corba Tea/ICHIRYU Speakeasy Sushi since it's a boba tea and omakase in NJ. You can't go wrong with two best combinations. It's reservation only. It's $95 for 12 pieces or $130 for 18, go with the 18 because you won't be disappointed. We were greeted by Nikki and was seated. Chef Rudy served up omakase and he is very experienced and knowledgeable. He focuses on each of the fish that he's prepping to serve. When serving he would tell you what type of fish it is and where it's from. Every bite just melts in your mouth from how perfectly they were prepared. Everything was fresh and delicious. During this experience chef Ruby shows what omakase is all about. The art of the fish and engaging with the customers. Toward the end, barrister and pastry chef Nikki served up some amazing Hong Kong style boba tea and delicious desserts. She made the dessert so special by putting a candle on the cake for my birthday. Planning on returning because I want to try out the shrimp tempura don. Saw a customer ordering it and it looks delicious. Also, want to try other boba tea drinks. I highly recommend this place for both boba tea and omakase. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would!! 5 stars for the boba tea and 5 star for the omakase. Cobra is both simultaneously the best boba tea and the best omakase in NJ. Nikki's boba drinks are some of the most innovative and tasty drinks I've ever had. I recommend any drink with Ube or Matcha or both in it. The omakase was a hidden surprise to discover. I love bubble tea but it's the omakase that drew me here. I was able to make a reservation the week of, Nikki manages the phones and is wonderful. We were greeted by Rudy the chef. He is very experienced and knowledgeable. We loved getting to know him throughout the experience. Every single course that came out was a hit. My favorites were the ones that would just melt in your mouth from how perfectly they were prepared. The flavors were incredible. I love the little bit of zesty-ness he brings to his dishes as well. We originally thought the Korean place reopened until we saw the new awning with Cobra tea. We love bubble tea so we figured we would swing by for a treat. Staff was friendly and happy to see us. Space itself is reasonable with a few chairs and tables. Parking is the same back parking shared with SoHo nails. It is a welcomed addition to the area, the menu looks expansive but we only tried two different bubble teas: Young coconut bubble tea slush: 5/5 Not too sweet, refreshing and interesting how they put the boba on top with crispy coconut which was an lovely add on Mango slush bubble tea 4/5 Seemed to have real mango puree maybe a bit on the sweeter side after tasting the coconut but still solid option and delicious I would try the affogato next time maybe. The one man offered a sample coconut jelly type of dessert so I brought that home and tried it later. This hidden gem is so far off the beaten path that I drove right past it when I went to check it out a month ago, and when I went to order food there last week. Damn, I'm glad I found it. This area is scattered with mediocre sushi places. This is not one of them. Rudy's sushi was exceptional. Each piece of delectable salmon, tuna and yellowtail was perfectly prepared and was beyond excellent. The fish had perfect texture and literally melted in your mouth. Even the bed of rice was extraordinary. If you are looking for an omakase that goes beyond just the food where every piece of sushi was presented with context and you can have genuine conversation and interact with the chef - THIS IS THE PLACE. It was like watching a performance where you're part of the show. Chef Rudy chatted with his customers between bites, answering our questions, and throwing in light, genuine humor. Surprisingly and absolutely phenomenal omakase! I've held back on reviewing the omakase at Cobra Tea for months because I wanted to confirm the consistency of the place. Given the dearth of great quality sushi in NJ, we've been trying out multiple sushi joints all over northern Jersey but without much luck finding a reliably great spot such that we don't need to travel into NYC or wait until our next trip to Asia for. Our benchmark for great sushi in NJ is Tomo's Cuisine which sadly closed a few years back after itamae Tomo retired. Every recommended sushi place we've eaten at in Fort Lee, Jersey City/Hoboken, Edison, Sommerville, Livingston, Ridgewood, etc. while are better than typical Americanized suburban sushi fare, still miss the mark quite a bit. With Cobra Tea I've found my go-to spot! It's not a sushi restaurant with a full menu and only has a 6-seat omakase, so that's the limitation. It requires advanced reservations so the fish and ingredients can be ordered, delivered and prepped right before service (friend tried calling in for same-day dinner but couldn't be accommodated because the fish could not be delivered on time the same day). Importantly though, Cobra Tea is phenomenal. The quality of the food is absolutely fresh and the pieces are creative/balanced without being too deliberate. Rudi's personal attention and focus on craftmanship is the big difference though. It's a proper omakase experience of great food with some showmanship and easy banter. Pacing is perfect. We've eaten here 5 times over the last 4 months since it's quiet open in April and have not been disappointed. The crazy part of course is that it's set in a bubble tea store! Sort of a speakeasy set up. It's a strange but interesting vibe... but it all works. Looking back, I surprised myself for even giving this place a shot to begin when I learned about it on Instagram. I'm glad I did though. It's been a well kept secret spot but one that I think deserves recognition more broadly - without a doubt it's the absolute best sushi in NJ for me. Oh, and the top off is that Nikki - who started the place as a craft bubble tea store - is also a very talented dessert specialist. Have had different desserts she's made for the omakase each time and they've all been standouts (but get easily overshadowed by the sushi). Her ube purple ice cream are ridiculous. As for how I've come to know more about the place, Rudi and Nikki... I suppose that's what true omakase experiences are about. It's not just about a bar front setting or a menu of chef selection or a view of the prep - it's a place where one can engage with the itamae and hosts in an intimate setting over great freshly prepared food. read more
