It was different, but I really enjoyed it. Naturally, I had to finish with my signature drink, a Cosmopolitan, because I am the Black Carrie Bradshaw of Long Island. And it did not disappoint. The eats: I got the charcuterie board--fancy and bougie, just like me--and wrapped up the night with the brownie à la mode for dessert. Drowning my troubles in sweets is a must when the Long Island dating pool is an absolute wasteland, lmao. Did I want to spend my night around teenagers, kids, and skee-ball? HELL NO! Though the seating was comfortable, the temperature was not. In fact, it was freezing in there, and we, along with a lot of other parties, switched tables multiple times to find the best fit. We approached the counter to order from their lengthy cocktail list, which included standard and more custom cocktails. I decided on their rendition of a Lime Rickey, asking for it to be made with their gin. The tart, sour, and sweet drink was light and refreshing. I enjoyed each sip so much that I wound up getting a second round. While many distilleries offer a few types of alcohol and a handful of cocktails, the Silk City Distillery went above and beyond with their vast array of options. He was great with his beer knowledge, but we really sold me was when there was a table behind us that had a son with special needs at this young man treated that table with kindness and compassion and really we need more of that. To the owner of this business, I know that the wait staff gets a very minimal amount per hour because they depend on tips, but if there's anyway you can raise his base pay, I would love to see that we were only gonna have one drink each, but because of how he treated us we ended up having two for me and three for my husband, that young man is an investment
