Stopped in here recently for lunch on a trip to the Eugene area...had eaten here a year or so ago and was quite pleased...but boy oh boy has this place is fallen on hard times. The menu that used to be quite large here has now become a single menu front and back...with very limited selections. They have recently permanently shuttered the salad and soup bar...and even the staff seemed unhappy about the very reduced menu...this is a truck stop and usually the food at these places is excellent. I could not see much I wanted so I asked for a grilled cheese that was also not on the new menu...but the cook made a special order for me...and it was actually good. The soup was also decent...but overall this place has changed for the worse...and the lack of customers inside what is usually a bust spot likely reflects the fact that others also do not like the changes. read more

This is a classic truck stop/motel/diner. All the comfort food a roadie could want! Service is courteous and the food is quite good! The old axiom from my younger days in the San Joaquin Valley is proven true again... 'truckers know where the good food is'. There is plenty of parking available for cars and another huge lot for 18 wheelers to fuel up, park and rest. The energy of the goings on with trucks pulling in and out created an environment akin to whale watching on the coast! .....but I digress.... The diner itself was quite calm and pleasant as many road warriors were quite content to have a good meal and a cup of coffee while staring out the window or reconnecting with others on their phones. We were seated fairly quickly and provided menus and water. The menu is fairly large with a variety of foods from omelettes to large breakfasts, various burgers, appetizers, lunches and dinners. Having read the reviews regarding these 'fried mushrooms' I had to give it a go. Wow! An excellent crispy deep fried batter covering a perfectly cooked whole button type mushroom. Lean over a plate for this one as the mushrooms are so fresh they are still moist. A Hobbit Heaven of an appetizer, now I get it! Had to try the Philly and it was spot on for flavors and ingredients. The French bread roll was toasted and the steak was sliced thin. Bell peppers were semi al dente as were the onions. The melted Swiss topped it off! The only nit picky thing I have is to maybe toast the bun just a bit more. This came with a side of fries that were so crispy and delicious I had to ask.... Turns out they are lightly battered and then deep fried. You would have no idea these were fried as they were crispy and free of oil. I swear they were dry baked, but no. This is one of those places I will have to return to so I can try the other dishes I wanted. I'm interested in that pot pie! read more

Great service and good food @ Coburg Crossing Cafe in Coburg, OR. ! This little cafe is located right off of I-5 and is part of a motel and truck stop. Friendly service and very clean space. We were delighted that they left a whole carafe of coffee for us to pour our own refills. The food was pretty good. I really enjoyed the side of French Toast. Unique combinations and lots of choices. Bathrooms were located between the cafe and truck stop store. They were exceptionally clean. We would definitely stop here again when we need to grab a bite to eat and take a break during our travels. Thank you. read more

Made the short trip up I5 to have a fantastic breakfast at Coburg Crossings Cafe. Usually, I start with the food - but when the service is this good, you gotta call it out. Our waitress was so nice, the manager was here there and everywhere with a big smile on his face. Regualrs were greeted by name and first-time dinners (like us) were welcomed with open arms. They were all in a great mood and quick to help. Everything we had was well made and delicious. The eggs Benny had good flavor and egg was poached a little over but still good. The gravy was so very tasty on the biscuits as well as the chicken fried steak. And the chicken fried steak was massive and so crispy. Everyone had hashbrowns and they all came out crispy and golden. The parking lot is a little awkward but still easy to navigate. The restrooms are cleaned and well kept - though shared with the actual truck stop. read more

This is my kind of roadside cafe... Located attached to the TA this little Cafe has a robust menu. Teresa was awesome... truly fantastic personality and help! We entered and were seated right away. It's a fairly nice sized dining area. White and blue accents. There is a salad bar in the middle of the floor. Not give but lots of options... chili, their famous navy bean... and today chicken enchilada... Glad that's opened again after covid closures everywhere. We started with strawberry lemonade which was awesome with a nice amount of strawberries but also very tart... We also had fried mushrooms! Served with ranch these little space saucer goodies were delightful. I mean probably some of the best I've had. Hand battered... It's more of a tempura batter and holy mambos they were a hit! We had a bowl of their famous navy bean and it had great flavor and likely little salt due to clientele but with a bit of pepper and salt it was great. Dinner salads were yummy too! Croutons are homemade and man they are good! This menu is big!!! Desserts are affordable and apparently HUGE although i didn't get to see one myself. They ran out of brownies so the brownie sundae we wanted was unavailable this time. I will post pictures when i get to enjoy one! Dad had a deluxe burger And it was just a classic burger. Strangely he wanted the hamburger steak so he didn't eat it at all like a hamburger... but he actually totally missed that they have one on the menu... again quite a large menu. I got the stuffed meatloaf... totally unique dish I've not seen before. It is ham and Swiss with broccoli wrapped in meatloaf. It was very good! Came with bread of choice, veggie of choice, soup or salad, potatoe of choice and the meatloaf. I got the baked potato fully loaded and man yummy! All of that for like $13.99... super affordable! The biscuits and cornbread are homemade. Biscuit was very good when i ate it later. Mom got the Pot pie... it takes 30 minutes because they make it to order same with the fried chicken dinner only 20 minute notice for that. The chicken pot pie has a thick rich chicken stew below a perfectly golden crispy crust... We will definitely return here! I lot more options to try! Another great roadside truck stop & diner. Impeccable clean and the staff obviously enjoy working with each other. I took a chance and tried the Spaghetti & Meatballs. Really delicious and tasted fresh & homemade. Did not taste like canned sauce or frozen meatballs. Garlic bread was so delightful too! I took a piece of lemon pie to go. But it wasn't a slice of pie, but a miniature little pie that looked really good but tasted terrible. No lemon flavor at all. Sorry, couldn't eat it. Try a milkshake instead! Another table ordered that and they brought the extra too. From the customer's reaction, it was a huge hit! My waitress Kari provided great service. Who would of thought I would eat one of the best burgers I've ever eaten in my life at a truck stop off of I5 in the middle or Oregon? The Thomas Burger is one of my top 2 burgers that I have ever had the pleasure of shoving in my mouth. It was soooo good! I definitely recommend this burger. Service was great and the prices were reasonable. The fries that came with this burger were perfectly fried and very tastefully good. They complemented the Thomas Burger perfectly. I also had a house salad and that too was good, everything tasted fresh. And yes, I ate it all. So if you ever find yourself at the Travel Center of America (TA) off of I5 in the middle of Oregon, you must try this monster of a burger. It's not only big, it taste great. read more

For some reason I thought I had a review for this place. We make the drive to Coburg, from Veneta to eat breakfast here every so often. Not just because the food is good, but the portions are big, and the service has always been great. It is a truck stop, mixed in with a diner atmosphere. I don't think I have pictures of the food I have ordered. Which is a huge bummer. I have not been ordering CFS at most places, but will order it here, because it is just so dang good. Also I normally would order sour dough toast, with my breakfast, but not here. Here they have an option to get a slice of banana nut bread. That is also hard to pass up. It is so delicious, and reminds me of my Granny's banana bread. I have also ordered their omelets. They are really big, and very good. I also usually get their home style potatoes. I highly recommend those over the hash browns. I wouldn't mind trying the lunch one of these times, I meant to last time. The CFS just had my number. This place is definitely worth the drive, and yes, you will find the parking lot more than likely packed. Do not let that detour you. They get you in pretty fast. My cousin and I go to Coburg Crossing nearly every Friday for their excellent fish & chips lunch special. This is some of the best fish & chips I've had in my life. The fish (Icelandic Cod) is portioned and breaded on site; the fish portions are generous, the tartar sauce (I think this is made in-house as well) is very good, and the coleslaw is usually quite good as well. Service? Usually excellent. The wait staff remembers customers, the manager often circulates and is attentive to the needs of both customers and staff. This is often one of the best experiences in dining you'll find in the Eugene area. The menu, while extensive, is filled with excellent items. The ham portion on the ham & eggs breakfast is magnificent, the 8 oz. sausage steak breakfast is out of this world. Their hamburger selection is fantastic both in scope as well as quality. The clubhouse sandwich is great, and the salmon dinner is one of the best I've tried. These are just a sample some of the items I've tried over the last few months. I'm definitely going to sit in for a breakfast here, maybe even tomorrow. But today.... I grabbed two breakfasts to go. Having lived in the area all my damned life, and working 1/2 a mile away from this place for one of my years, I had no idea this was anything but a truck stop. Until today. So I strolled in and was greeted by the most enthusiastic and accommodating manager I think I've ever met. I didn't catch his name, but his service "slaps", as the kids say. LoL I was skeptical at first, since it's definitely attached to a truck stop. But the guy made a few claims that hastened my resolve to try this place out, even if only to prove his claims outlandish. One of the claims he made, was that this place serves "the best CFS in Oregon". Well.... Having made finding "the best" CFS a mission of mine for over a decade now, I thought thought a pretty bold claim. As I mentioned.... I grabbed my orders as take-out. I can indeed say that even though I wasn't able to get into the food for 15 mins or so, it was absolutely still better than average. I'd go so far as to say that had I sat there and ate this meal fresh from the kitchen, it's conceivable that the CFS is the best I've had. Or at least brushing shoulders with the best. The meat was very tender, the flavor (especially the sausage gravy) was perfect, and the breading was perfectly crispy--even after riding in to-go boxes for 15 mins. I was pleasantly surprised by the staff here. I was absolutely surprised by the food. If you're looking for an out of the norm type place to get some food, I highly recommend this place. We had breakfast here last week. The food was very good, our waitress was super nice & friendly. Boy what a difference a week makes! We stopped in again this morning & couldn't believe how different it was. The hostess seemed stress. Once seated we saw there were new menus. Not the same options. Prices have increased. Service was slow & staff seemed stressed! The coffee was very weak & we were told there wasn't another option! After ordering ( we split a breakfast- still cost us over $25,00! I guess the coffee was an expensive add-on! Felt bad for our very nice waitress but told her we won't be back! This is new ownership & will be surprised if they succeed. While going to Crater Lake National Park we stopped for breakfast at Coburg Crossing Cafe. It is a big cafe with ample of seating space. We were seated as soon as we reached the cafe. We were greeted by our server Kari with water and we ordered Coffee and Hot Tea. For breakfast we ordered Two eggs with bread and Breakfast Burrito. We got our food in 10-15 minutes and it was hot as well as fresh. We loved our breakfast and it was tasty and delicious. Loved the breakfast. read more

The Coburg Cafe is no longer. It's now under new management and not even a shadow of what it used to be. The menu is all changed and the food is nothing special. The waitress is still awesome but I don't know how long she'll stay there. Her tips are bound to suffer with 70+% of their customers gone too. The place is mostly empty. We we're heading home after a long day in Eugene. We knew we could stop here to have a great meal before continuing our trip, but we haven't been in a while and we were surprised by the change. Doors close at 8:30 pm instead of 10:00. We couldn't order the salad bar because it was shut down at 7:30. The food we ended up ordering was subpar. Soup was cold; onion rings were mushy and very greasy; the hamburger was not cooked as ordered. Stopped for lunch on our way to Portland and won't be back. We had soup and salad and the "smash burger". The soup was very generic and served in the smallest cup I have ever been served alongside a slightly wilted stack of iceberg lettuce. The burger was "smashed" in name only and when I asked the waitress what made it a "smash burger", she said it's because the meat is smashed together to make the patty! It would be one thing if their food was really cheap, but for the price you could get something much nicer. Service was basic, but ok. read more
