They get a 2 for extremely friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I went recently being new to the area and it was close. I opted for one of the upgraded mani/pedi combos with the scrubs (around $57 for both, including a specialty cocktail). I mentioned going on vacation and they suggested getting gel polish instead of regular polish, which was fine that it lasted longer, as it's usually not that much extra at other salons I've been to in the past where I used to live. First with the pedi, I joked about how bad my feet had gotten, it had been a while. They offered an $8 uncharge for extra scrubbing, I didn't expect them to scrub so hard they took the skin off the back of my heel! I mentioned the first being sore and it looked ok, but had no clue it would scab by that night. Then I had to say the same thing about the other heel after asking her to be more careful. Now I have scabs on the backs of both my heels and going on vacation and my heels hurt with the shoes rubbing on it at the gym even with bandaids. They also cut the cuticle too far on one of my pinky toes and it's sore. Then the UV dryer looked really dirty. Then I get to the mani and mid way through was trying to figure out how my hand was bleeding. I realized I was getting red polish and somehow I had polish across the back of my hand. They had to scrub the gel off. I didn't even get the arm massage that supposedly came with the upgraded mani like I did the pedi. The same UV dryer for the feet was used for the hands. This all took 2.5 hours for both. Then I get to the register to find it was an extra $22 for gel nail polish on my mani and another $32 extra on the pedi! $55 extra for what little was used from bottles of gel polish that costs $12 each online (if not buying bulk). I understand I got an undercoat, 2 layers of polish, and a top coat, but I didn't even get to take the bottles home. That much couldn't have been used out of the bottles. Then it was mentioned when I was ready to change polish it would be $10 each hands and feet to remove and another $55 to reapply. If you want to go get a mani/pedi combo with just the basics, maybe give them a try, but don't do the gel upgrade or other add on services. read more

Despite there being a number of other nail salons in the area not to mention a lot cheaper i decided to try this salon. Never again will I patronize Cocanails. The nice aspects there are the decor, cleanliness, fume free, and the process for manicures without drills. I was extremely pleased with the attitude and patience of my technician however, the owner is much to be desired. I got attitude from the moment I walked in until I left. I am a mother of 3 and rarely get the opportunity to treat myself. I typically try to leave my kids home when I do. Unfortunately, that was not an option this time. This place is not single mother friendly which should be included in the advertising. I would have been less offended if I had been turned away at the door instead of getting attitude and constant stares. I have been to other salons in the past with my kids and never been treated in that manner. I paid for my service including a tip because of my nail tech, whom was nothing but understanding, friendly, patient, apologetic, and considerate. She tried her best to make me feel comfortable and appreciated. To add insult to injury, a client of the owner also had kids. One of her kids' behavior was atrocious. The child repeatedly hit the mother, yelling and screaming, and threw tantrums in comparison to my kids whom did not come close to this type of behavior. This client was not given the same treatment as I received. Her client received thank you and have a good evening and I received eyes rolling, constant stares, and attitude. All patrons should be treated the same regardless of whom is working with them. REGULARS seem to be appreciated. Just my opinion. Will definitely take my business elsewhere. read more

We got a special deal from Living Social for $42 for two mani-peddies. Great! But really, read the fine print. We were charged $3 each for tax? No, since tax in Cobb County is 6 percent and that would only be 1.26 each. Not sure where the $3 came from. Besides that, such a limited selection of nail polish that the closest I could get to what I wanted -- a basic tan/neutral -- looked like clear. The polish stayed on well, at least on mine, so I'll give them that. But really, should have all the possible colors. Not just the outlandish ones. Feel like I wasted my money on polish color when toes look like nothing on them at all. Once you invest in good deal, you´ve already paid, nothing you can do but settle, accept whatever they offer and whatever they charge. Especially after nails already done. I moved off of Cobb Parkway about a year and a half ago and had not found a salon that was up to par with the quality and genuine care that I was use to. I had started to resort to driving to Dawsonville to the place I'd gone to since I was probably 17 religiously because I was so disappointed in the salons around here. There are a few in Buckhead that are fabulous, but always packed and ridiculously overpriced. I was hesitant to go to Cocanails because I had read a few reviews that were deterring, but my guy friend and I were out for coffee and he said he'd like a pedicure and if went he'd pay to get my all white powder set filled in for me. So, I couldn't argue. They were in bad shape because I had tried a salon off Atlanta road and went there a few times. They were not busy, but they clearly were in a rush to get my nails done and get me out the door.... Quick is the last thing I am worried about especially when it sacrifices quality. The owner of the salon, Tamara, I believe (and am so sorry if I am mistaken... I'm horrible with names) filled in the nails and corrected the inexplicable cracks that had formed due to carelessness or inexperience from the place I had originally gotten them done at for me. They looked beautiful and lasted much longer without breaking. One by one the set I'd gotten at the other place broke off or cracked badly so we soaked the old ones off so I could start fresh and she could work on her own work as oppose to fixing the mistakes of the someone else. She is so personable and that makes the whole experience so much more relaxing when you can talk to the person and they aren't speaking a language you don't understand the entire time. She is a delight, to say the least. I told her I hated getting nails taken off because of how much pain it inflicted when they slide the acrylics under the nail to quicken the process. She looked appalled when I said that and said that is not the correct way to remove a set at all and. She used one of the tools to take off a great deal, which was painless, and then soaked my nails again and again until she was able to get off all of the remainder without the pain that I was accustomed to when having a set removed. It was great. We talked and laughed and I ended up giving my nails a break for a while and not putting on another set, but she did give me an incredible, and much needed, manicure as well as black gel polish that I need to get redone only because my nails have grown so much in the last two weeks, but none of the paint chipped off and although I miss my long nails, she made sure they looked classy and feminine even without the long nails I am use to sporting. This is, by far the best salon I've been to. My friend said his pedicure was divine and we are both runners so it's hard to get our feet looking good. :-) I will probably go back tomorrow and get the black gel nails one more time to strengthen and rest my nails s bit more, but I can't wait to see what she does with the all white powder set that I usually get. Definitely give this salon a try. You won't regret it. The only thing I'd change about the experience is the music. It was sort of gospel or soul music and something maybe a little more upbeat or mainstream would better fit the environment. That may just be me, but Phantogram pandora or Coldplay or even 90's or current hits may help the vibe. This place is phenomenal though. The owner is super talented and you can tell she enjoys what she does because she takes her time and puts heart into it. I am moving to midtown soon, but I am not changing salons. I would not be returning to this salon and would not recommend this salon to anyone, actually I would say avoid it at all cost!! I was looking for an "american owned" salon hence entered this place which looks very upscale and nice from outside- big mistake. Did not realise I would end up wasting my entire evening, getting cursed and dealing with cops! When I entered the owner was sitting on the desk, the salon was EMPTY! the owner stated rather haughtily that we work only with appointments but we will do it! First off the pedicure basin was unlined, the tech filed my nails rather vigorously almost to the skin. No massage with the pedicure or manicure was done. During the manicure the tech was overzealous with my cuticles and went rather deep and i now have at least two fingers that are hurting. She filed my nails very vigorously and there were rough jagged edges and awkward shapes. My nails looked worse after than they did before the manicure! I was asked if I had ever tried a gel manicure and I said no and enquired about it. I was told that it is thicker than regular naipaint and that it dries much faster. I asked how could I take it off at home as I do not like cumbersome stuff. I was told by the tech that I could just use acetone and it would easily come off. I agreed to try it on her recommendation. When she did apply the first coat of nailpaint it was awful!! The tips of the nails had no paint on them, it was uneven and the paint was lumpy! All in all the awkward nail shapes, ragged edges and now the uneven lumpy nailpaint made my hands look plain awful. I requested that she remove the gelpaint and that I would just want to leave at this point. The tech started to file off the gelpaint from my nails!! She filed and she filed and my nails were now almost crying out loud!! I complained to the tech that she should stop filing my nails as they were looking horrible and that the manicure was not nice at all and that she should have told me that the paint would have to be filed off the nails! The owner came and asked what the problem was so I told her what was going on and I told her that the manicure was one of the worst I had ever had. The owner stated that they do very good manicures and started to almost reprimand me for complaining. She saw that I had offered amex to her tech and very haughtily said we dont take amex. By this time I was very upset and told her that ideally she should not even be paid for the manicure, there was no massage and no nail paint. I was leaving with hands that were looking terrible. The owner stated that " you must be trying to get a free service or something out of us, because we do a great job"!! to which I got up , put her 50 $ cash on the table told her that their services were terrible and started to leave. The owner actually started shouting and cursing me "in the name of jesus I curse you, may his wrath be upon you etc. etc." AND SHE CALLED THE COPS!!! Of course when the cops came, I explained what happened and was told I was free to go. Another reviewer above has explained how the owner called cops!! THIS SALON CALLS COPS IF YOU DON"T LIKE THEIR SERVICES!! HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE HERE. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I will never return to this place again. I walked in for a quick pedicure. I was greeted with an eye roll. I picked out my color and sat down as the tech was cleaning my nails it's like she had no idea what she was doing. She barely filed my nails and when I looked down I noticed my left toe was half cut off! The nail polish was dry and goopy. She did not try to thin it out. I explained that I just wanted her to remove the nail polish and I would pay for the services rendered, meaning the 5 minute soak an 1 minute massage... Not the cutting off of half my freaking nail. I put on my shoes and went up to pay and she said I had to pay the full $20? I asked why since I'm walking out in my tennis shoes with no pedi done? She asked me to stop yelling in a tone very threatening ( I was NOT yelling) I told her I'm upset... She continued to remedy the situation by mocking me! I scheduled an appointment for my first experience here and the staff were extremely rude from the beginning. When I asked what time would suit them best, the response was "we're ALWAYS busy". And I arrived for my appointment 4 minutes past the schedule time, and walked in to an empty salon where the receptionist rudely told me "we're on a tight schedule today". I then said I wanted an S&S manicure and she laughed and said I'd need to reschedule. My fiancé and I made an appointment 2.5 weeks ago for pedicures and that was our first time visiting this "Spa". My first impression of the place was that it seemed to be clean so I was comfortable with staying. I'm a license Nail tech in the state of Georgia and I am very picky about who I get nails services from. Moving on, the young lady ask me when we first walked in how could they help me and I told her that I had 2 appointment both pedicures. she then handed me a menu and asked me what kind of pedicures did we want. I was little bit thrown off because I thought that was the whole point of booking an appointment. They're supposed to know what kind of services we're here for, right? The lady then sits us and we start our pedicures. Not too long after our services began, this lady that was sitting in the waiting area starts to yell at her at her boyfriend over the phone! Instead of the employees handling the situation and asking her to step outside, they actually allowed it. The nail tech apologized after she'd left and stated that "those kind of people don't normally come inside the spa." I asked her what kinda of "people"? She then replied, "Ghetto people from the hood. East Atlanta, Gresham road type people." My fiancé kept a smile on his face, but little did she know he grew up in East Atlanta. He was so offended by the stereotyping and judgement that she spoke of. He wasnt "Ghetto" at all. I guess she assumed that we thought her jokes were amusing. Instead, they were uncouth and immature. How unprofessional to talk about a client especially to another client. When I leave will she talk about me too?? The Nail Tech eventually offered us wine. We kindly accepted. With out asking what type of wine we prefer or like... or even a menu, she brings us two plastic cups of wine. Wait! I thought this place said "upscale ". Since when did plastic become fancy? My man's service was finished before mine so he got up to settle the tab. Just as I started to get my things together I noticed that my polish was not even. My favorite nail place was closed this morning and I was desperately looking for a nail place that was open to get a pedicure. I came a cross Cocanails which was very attractive from the outside and when I stepped inside it was decorated beautifully. I asked the lady how much for a pedicure and she replied rudely the menu is over there. I asked her how long to get a pedicure and she abruptly replied it depends on what you want, just go pick a color! As I mentioned I was desperate and needed a pedicure since I was heading to the airport on vacation. My gut said to walk out, but I decided to spend the $20 for at best an average pedicure. It has taken me a while to write this review because I believe in giving people 2nd and in my case, 5th chances. I love to patronize black owned businesses and was delighted when a friend referred me. Forgive me for this long review, I just want anyone reading this to get the full picture of my story as a customer. My first experience was a pleasant one in 2014 with Octavia she was through and knew all about the sanitary procedures. My concern was while I am getting my pedicure, I looked around to read a black magazine and to see NOT ONE black magazine laying around the establishment was very disheartening. This was a red flag to me especially if you are a black owner, this shows the clientele that you prefer to sevice (No Ebony, Essence etc) but plenty of the European magazines ..No inclusiveness at all. That's the irony. I digress! I continued and made another appointment the following month. Then Octavia told me that that was going to be her last week working there. I inquired as to why, but she subtly hinted that the owner Tamara was a real pill and difficult to work for. So I didn't think nothing of it. I continued to come because I didn't want one possible disgruntled employee's opinion to stop me, so fast foward. I proceed to go again in 2016. I kept getting more red flags. I came to get an upgraded mani/ pedi and requested my eyebrows to be shaped...BRACE YOURSELF! THE OWNER, TAMARA laughed at me and said quote " you don't hardly have no eyebrows to shape", as she smirked again. Needeless to say, she didn't do my eyebrows. This was an unprofessional comment by the owner and it kind of hurt my feelings. I have been to my regular Asian nail shop and they have NEVER made this type of statement, in fact, they have done a great job of shaping my thin eyebrows and continue to do so, but this upscale salon couldn't handle it. BUT, I still returned again a month later. I'm a glutton for punishment I guess. So the 3rd time I go again, I was unaware that if you come at 6:50 pm and they close at 7pm, you will get turned away, other shops don't.The 4th time I did it I was unaware of the appointment rule, which by the way, the owner said it was on the website. So I checked the website and it stated appointments PREFERRED NOT MANDATORY..so ok.. I'll try ONE more time. My 5th & Final time. My mother-in-law and step daughter came from out of town and wanted to get a pedicure, so I call to see if we could get an appointment, we were scheduled for 1:30 pm. It only takes me 10 min to get to the shop but on this particular day, I was totally unaware of the new construction on Cobb Pkwy, due to the Braves Stadium being built, so we ended up being late by 20 min..I didn't think to call because we were literally almost there just sitting on the road, so we get there. There were 3 technicians there & 1 customer finishing up her pedicure. Tamara, the owner decides to reprimand my tardiness in an unprofessional manner, she spoke to me like I was a child, my mother-in-law insisted that we go, she said "I don't like her nasty attitude", but I spoke my peace to Tamar and continued to wait my turn for service, another young lady took care of me. I won't share her name because I'm not sure that she still works there, but I asked why is Tamara so unprofessional she said "that is how she is sometimes" and if you don't want to come back I would understand and gave me her card to go to her other place because she would not be staying long due to Tamara's difficulty to work with too. Hhmmmmm another disgruntled employee. While another lady worked on my mother in law, Tamara began working on my step daughter. While Tamara, the owner, worked on my stepdaughter she shared small talk, but also shared that "people think I'm nice, but I can be mean" along those lines...and laughed it off ?? UNPROFESSIONAL!! I guess she didn't realize my stepdaughter was with me. She said some other things, but I won't repeat them, however, I WILL NEVER RETURN AND HAVE TOLD MY FRIENDS TO NOT RETURN BECAUSE I USED TO RECOMMENDED FRIENDS TO GO THERE.THE OWNER HAS A NASTY ATTITUDE AND QUITE FRANKLY PREFERS NOT CATERING TO BLACKS LIKE SHE DOES HER EUROPEAN CLIENTELE. THAT'S ANOTHER STORY THAT I OBSERVED. BUT I have written enough. I have been to Cocanails twice; both times to get gel polish manicures. I got an excellent manicure both times. She took her time and was sure to get them just right. The downside was the price (expensive) and the limited gel polish colors (I would guess less than 15 colors, not sure). Overall, I want to continue to go to Cocanails. The owner is very polite and professional and the salon is clean and well designed; the bathroom was pristine. At my last visit, I called ahead and was able to get an appointment right away. I was a little short on time and was in and out in no time. My toddler, who I usually don't take with me to nail salons, slept peacefully in her stroller the entire time. The owner even offered to turn down the music; not necessary because my baby sleeps like a rock! I really appreciate the high quality of service, professionalism and caring. Owner made no apologies and nickel and dimed me to death. $20 for a fill, 10 for gel polish removal, $5 to cut nails down, $1 for quick dry (which I didn't ask for). This place is right across the street from me, so I decided to give it a shot. It is an appointment-only establishment, which has its pros and cons. Overall, my experience was pleasant, but I wasn't quite as wowed as I expected to be. Like some of the other reviewers have mentioned, the pedicure bowls are unlined. I was very surprised (and disappointed) to see that. The bench style seating for pedicures is not the most comfortable either. I, too, experienced the owner hovering over the technician who was working on me, which was a bit uncomfortable. The woman working on me, however, was very sweet and kept me laughing the whole time. I came in for a basic pedicure, which ended up taking a little over an hour. I really hate to give this salon two stars because this is the only salon that I've found that's American owned. I went in for gel nails after letting my nails grow a nice length. The positive is everyone was so friendly, the atmosphere is relaxing and you don't feel like you're on an assembly line like it is in the Asian salons. The negative was the service I received. While the lady was filing my nails, my cuticles and fingers were constantly being scraped which caused little tiny paper cuts on my fingers. Even as I flinched, she continued to file oblivious to my discomfort. A day later, I was running my fingers over the polish and noticed the polish was lumpy on four of my ten fingers. After having the polish removed a few weeks later, I discovered why my fingers were lumpy. She filed my nails uneven and so low therefore the polish took that shape. I honestly do not know why I paid 45 bucks for a full set ... Nothing was done differently. Except for the fact that they don't have the electronic filers and buffers -_-. I got a pedicure which was 36 bucks.. The owner had a lot to say about my toe nails. Idk I just don't see how getting a full set and pedicure resulted in paying 81 bucks and then you ask for a tip? I have no problem paying and tipping but I just didn't see why I should pay that much and tip ... The owner and tech (which seem to be the only people that work there) should not be asking for tips ! I obviously didn't pay 80$ for the equipment or massage chairs because that is something that coca nails lack .... This is an over priced mediocre place that slapped upscale on the front to accommodate the ridiculous price . I walk In and the owner spoke.Honestly I didn't here her cause I was looking for a pricing board so she steady saying "How can I help you" so I asked her what were her pricing range and I hear one of her employees laughing in the background because I'm asking for a price to make a long story short. Worst nail place ever!!!!!!!!!! I get my nails done on a regular and know what a good job is suppose to look like. My normal nail guy was out so I decided to try a place close by a try. I regret it everyday since I went. First I asked how much it was for a fill in was and they quoted me $20. Next thing I know my bill was $45. Still not sure how that happened. Then they did not know what a fill in was or they kept telling me there is 2 different types of fill ins. That has never been the case where I normally get my nails done. Next the French tip is uneven and none of the tips are even the same length. They also did not have the proper equipment to do a proper fill in. I wanted to ask them if you cant do a fill in just say so. The last thing to happen was they put me on the spot asking for a tip. Again my normal place never ask for a tip. We made a same day appointment and enjoyed our couples milk and honey pedicure treatment. We are not from the area and the GPS had us at the wrong shopping center. We called for directions and was met with friendliness and professionalism. I like the modern lush decor. The entire staff was professional and polite. It smelled delicious the entire time. Not the typical nail salon smell so that's a plus. There were lots of color choices despite what other reviewers posted. Both techs conversed with us, asked if we were comfortable several times. They didn't use a spa liner but, I've witnessed them vigorously clean the spas out after each use . I enjoyed the smooth sounds of Kem and various jazz artist playing in the background . The techs did a great job meeting our specific foot needs. I didn't notice a large dryer but, I personally let my toes air dry. Maybe that's something the salon can invest in because most consumers prefer it. When I'm in the ATL area, I will definitely be a repeat client. Please note: The cops weren't called for any reason and there wasn't any other negative stereotypes or "raised eyebrow" incidents from this American owned business.
