Maple Walnut Muffin
Theresa D.

Totally lovely little cafe! Stopped in for breakfast and got a slice of quiche and a piece of broccoli cheese strata, both of which were delicious! Just what I was looking for for breakfast. And they also have pastries that look great - we tried the maple walnut muffin which was THE bomb. Super sugary but if you're getting a maple walnut muffin, of course it is! Staff were cheerful and efficient. Chai latte was also very good. Good amount of room for seating!

A quiet coffee shop on a corner in Gordon Square. It's cute and inviting, but not fancy. Order at the counter all kinds of coffees and lots of different breakfast treats or desserts! I had a small coffee and a pastry that was a folded square pastry with apricot preserves inside. Nicknamed The Purse, and it was good. Friends had muffins. All were tasty. The shop had one clean unisex restroom. Parking is in the rear of the building.

Grabbed some brunch on a Sunday and happened upon some burritos! Vegan options for my partner who is dairy free, great coffee and an excellent staff who is always lively, helpful and enthusiastic. I have spent many afternoons here working quietly, or chatting with others who have work to do, but would rather chat amongst ourselves. Mecca for hungry, coffee loving artists and remote workers. They have expanded the food options over the past few years and it just keeps getting better! Vegan bakery items are always available and delicious! A cozy place to chat, eat, caffeinate or grab a bite to go.

This little place is a fun spot to gather with friends and just sip on hot tea or coffee with good dessert. The service is excellent. Will be going back for more.

A nice coffee shop with "around the world" themed latte flavors with each latte named after a different country or region! All the pastries are locally made and the coffee is locally roasted. Service was friendly and happy!

Gypsy Beans offers good coffee and a wonderful space that supports long hours of study or working. The space seems like it was formerly a bar with dark wood that was converted into this unique coffee shop.

My half eaten avacado toast... I couldn't wait to eat it

We visited both the Gordon Square location and the cafe at Ray's MTB Park. We enjoyed everything! It was so good! We had breakfast and lunch/dinner here. I try to stick to a mostly veg diet and I loved the choices! My bf does not and he was more than happy with his choices as well. I had avocado toast and he had quiche for breakfast. For lunch veggie dogs for me and a chorizo burrito for him. Coffee was great, too. I got a few cortados and a bag of coffee to enjoy at our Airbnb and for home. Also got a curry chickpea sandwich that I brought home for lunch today- it was sooo yummy! This place is a definite win!

The big windows, Lemon Poppy Muffin, and Cafe Au Lait were just right. Quick service, great space to get some work done.

Gypsy Beans is the perfect example of an independent neighborhood coffee shop. They offer plenty of seating inside and out. They have coffee, meals and bakery. I have never had a bad experience. Most times of the day there are several people doing work just meeting up for conversation. Being at Gypsy Bean just gives you a nostalgic feeling. They have these huge windows looking out to the street. The shop is located on the corner of W.65th and Detroit Ave. It is fun to sit, enjoy your coffee and watch what is happening outside. This is one of those places if I lived in the neighborhood I would be there every day.

~ gluten-free review ~ Was looking for a quick easy spot for breakfast and stumbled across Gypsy Beans online. I am a sucker for a good coffee and have tried tons of places that haven't quite made it to my repeat list. The coffee here however is incredible, I just go for an oat milk latte. They do also have breakfast sandwiches with plenty of bread options including gluten-free. I forgot to take a picture but I got the Swine Fest sandwhich on a gluten-free bagel and it was really good. My gf friends will know that most bagels are so small you can barely fit one egg on it however this was a normal size bagel and the eggs were not from a can. I will definitely be coming back and making this a regular coffee spot.

The staff are very friendly and have a great sense of humor. Ordered a lavender green tea that was very refreshing and had the perfect amount of ice. For lunch, I opted for the chili and BLT. The chili had good flavor, on the spicy scale I would say it was mild. The BLT was so close to being amazing, the textures were prime, the serving size was perfect but it was just too salty for my personal palate. The atmosphere is very relaxed and there is a good mix of people being productive and people socializing.

Beware when going here. I saw the lady behind the counter sneeze all over the baked goods. I was disgusted and left

My family was in town while driving across country. Discovered this place late in the afternoon…read moreand we grabbed a ton of pastries for the end-of-day prices of about $2 each. My kids loved the cookies and the cruffin. Adults got the cinnamon buns - which was great to have one without the icing and it was still decadent! Service was friendly and personable. I'd almost go to Cleveland again just to get more pastries from Leavened!

Had been craving Leavened for a week and finally decided to give in. Only problem is it's near my…read moregym... so I got pastries after a workout session. Whatever. I'm so sad about this, but this was not my favorite experience at Leavened. Customer service was great of course but my selections fell short. I got a mushroom and ricotta croissant, which was fine. I forgot the ricotta was supposed to be there because it mostly tasted liked mushroom, but it was good. I also got the cinnamon monkey bread. This was not good. It was seemingly cooked in the paper that it was served in so the top of the bread pieces were crunchy, the middle was softer and then everything else was completely stuck to the paper. I didn't get to eat about 1/3 of what I paid for and I had to work really hard for the other 1/3. Also, the bread had a very spicy taste. It must have been cinnamon and allspice, but it was entirely too much and very overpowering. It truly tasted like a spicy savory bread which is not what I was expecting or wanted. Monkey bread is usually gooey and sweet. This missed the mark, but that's okay. I'll certainly return for another treat soon. Also the bread was looking fire this day.
