In what must be one of the few small towns in Virginia I haven't been to, I was struggling for an option when I came upon this place, which offers some Asian rice and noodle dishes but also fancy desserts, including crepes and rolled ice cream. Their cold plate was not functioning, not a great thing for them in the sweltering heat, but I was intrigued by the crepe selection and ended up with a fruit-filled creation with kiwi, banana, and strawberries. The crepe itself was quite browned, and ice cream made it filling. The fruit was layered throughout, making for a satisfying if somewhat messy eating experience. They had a vegetable fried rice but relatively limited overall if you wanted any protein without meat. As a dessert place, they fit the bill for what I needed. read more

This place is amazing. It's a small place with only a few seats, but this is the best place to get food! The staff is so friendly and nice and also helpful if you have anu questions about anything on the menu. I had never had a savory crepe before, and these crepes were beautifully wrapped in a flower shape. It was loaded with shrimp, chicken, crab, cucumbers, teriyaki sauce, etc. It was delicious. I've never had anything like it. I hope to be able to go back and try their sushi, and some of their dessert crepes, it all looked really good. read more

Meant to come here for rolled ice cream but their ice cream is still broken so I ordered sweet crepe instead. Coming from Asia, I've had sweet crepe all the time especially the Japanese sweet crepe which makes it popular. In my opinion, Coco Ni has done a great job on this. The cream they put on it is made from yogurt which goes very well with the fruity toppings. It's also not very sweet which is healthier. The owners are very friendly and the restaurant is very clean especially the bathroom! You can tell one cares about the cleanliness by judging from the bathroom. It's spotless. Being a restaurant in a small town like this and still serves one of the best crepes in the US is beyond my compliment. I can't recommend this place enough!! read more

I love Coco Ni and I hope they never have to leave. To be fair, I am not a regular customer, but I love what I order every time I go. Crepes, rolled ice cream, and simple Chinese dishes. It's good food at a reasonable price and items that you can't get anywhere else in the city. I think that's what makes it great. Excellent counter service. Clean and bright. Extensive menu of gluten free items. You can have lunch or dinner and dessert too. You can just opt for dessert if you like or a savory treat. Interesting concept. They were out of egg rolls on my first visit here but I was able to enjoy a chicken roll( delicious) crab puffs( delicious) and the cookie lover Thai ice cream! If you are used to the lower quality crab puffs you might not enjoy these. These are quality and it is evident in the taste. Crunchy! Not overly sweet either. I will be returning when in town again. My only gripe is they appeared short staffed and since they make everything to order, the wait can be long. read more

How is this place not packed with a line out the door?? My only guess is it's because it's difficult to access - would be so much better if you could enter/exit from Wal-Mart parking lot. This is very very casual dining - a few tables inside. Paper plates. But the food was incredible. I saw a couple of folks picking up takeaway while we were there - I'm guessing that's the heart of their weekday business. Bonus: prompt and careful service. Sadly, the ice cream machine was broken and apparently has been for a while. From what I hear, the machine that they use is not your usual design and is very expensive to fix --- so here's my rave review to encourage people to GO THERE and eat the VERY YUMMY savories to help fund the return of the sweets. :) I got a sushi burrito; my guest got chicken fried rice. Both were generous portions and the chicken was tender and juicy. The sushi burrito is kind of like a hand roll but rolled more tightly and the ingredients were fresh. Ps the crab wontons are also worth it - they weren't chewy or dry. Will 1000% be going back. And hopefully the ice cream machine will be fixed so we can try the crepes next time. If their ice cream machine is still broken when you visit (or even if it's not ;) ), finish your trip by going next door to Zocalo for takeaway treats :) read more

This is the most pleasant culinary surprise for me as a Danville native who is recently visiting and having a hard time finding something worth going out for. My friends and I were in the mood for sushi rolls and this was recommended. It was my first time. We were greeted with a smile, our order taken quickly. The space was clean and tidy and our order didn't take long to receive. We got the spicy shrimp roll and the spicy tuna roll, as well as fried pork dumplings (gyoza) and 2 egg rolls. All of the food was great, with the rolls not only exceeding anything available in the area, but better than a lot I've had at Sushi restaurants around the country in bigger metropolitan cities (i.e. Raleigh, Charlotte, San Antonio). I have yet to try the crepes, sushi burritos, or Thai ice cream, but I imagine I will. This is a surefire bet for hidden gem here. I highly recommend. read more

I fell in love with a ice cream shop in Greensboro you can find my review of it on my page. My daughter told me about this place in Danville which is much closer than the one in Greensboro so I decided to give it a try. It's also a restaurant with Asian style foods. We decided to eat supper there and then have the ice cream. The food was ok but not anything to rave over. The Ice cream however was good but the presentation was less than stellar. Now I know that looks shouldn't have any bearing on how it taste but it just wasn't as impressive as what I've seen in other places. It's a small location and due to Covid restrictions there were only two tables and I was ok with that as there was no one else there and we were able to sit and enjoy our meal. They had boxes of rice and other non perishable food items just sitting out in the dining area and it seemed like they just had no organization. The staff was just there to take your order. They weren't friendly and they weren't rude they were just there. All in all it was just kinda ho hum all the way around so they get three stars for not being rude and the food not being horrible but they get no more than that because they didn't make us feel welcome or attempt to make the food something to remember. Thai rolled ice cream is a bit different. They pour the liquid mixture onto an anti-griddle which freezes things instead of heating them. Then they use a wide blade scraper to get the ice cream off in rolls which are stacked into a sundae cup. They top it with various things like nuts, sprinkles, drizzles and fresh fruit. They're a little more expensive at $5-6, but much fresher than most places which just scoop out some mass produced stuff and smother it in Fluffy Whip. read more

We stopped here on a whirlwind drive, having been displaced from our home due to Hurricane Florence. It is often a struggle to find gluten-free options when traveling, so we were excited to see this restaurant and give it a try. My family's conclusion: we are trying to find an excuse to drive through Danville again just so that we can eat here! My children loved watching the ice cream and crepes being made. The rolled Thai ice cream is possibly the prettiest I've ever seen, plus it is so light and deliciously fresh. Originally from Southern Ca, lived in LA, SD and Laguna Beach, where we take our sushi seriously. Have been to Japan twice, once deployed for a long period and all over Asia. First good roll I have had on the east coast after living here for a decade... And it cost $3.50 for a good sized roll. I was not expecting this while stopping through Danville, Va of all places. It is challenging to find fresh fish near the coast in CA, FL, TX and NC where I have been stationed, but they figured it out 3 hours inland. Oh, and 25% military discount is one of the largest I've seen after being in the USMC for a 9 years. read more
