I am however, a chocolate fiend. So when I noticed The Pod by Cocoa Compassion on Cedar St in Dobbs Ferry not far from where hubs and I had our antique+vintage shop, I had to visit. The Pod by Cocoa Compassion's owner- Joy is 100% in support of working closely with family-run cacao farmers in The Caribbean, some Central American countries and Africa and sourcing the best quality chocolate bars and powders to these neck of the woods and beyond. What's more, the owner donates a portion of her profits to charitable organizations in NYC. With her chocolate, the owner bakes her own delicious 'Compassion Chocolate Cookies' that are filled with scrumptious dark chocolate chunks, other pastries and her hot chocolate- which is to-die for. When you come to The Pod, you're actually home: sit on the sofa lounge a bit if you want and strike up a conversation with the owner- who's a hoot and damn well knows her cacao. I learned a thing or two maybe three because of her. The shelves are stocked with dark chocolate bars and powders for purchase and specialty gift items as well. By the way, Joy rents(?) the small space up front for pop-up events+vendors selling their handmade jewelry, silk scarves, etc.- just double-check if this is something she's still doing. I was greeted when I approached the counter to order my $7.25 oat milk latte (before tip). They didn't take my name, which is my biggest coffee shop pet peeve, but luckily it wasn't busy so I was able to hear when they called out my drink. The latte was good and I could tell the espresso was high quality. Unfortunately I couldn't get the wifi to connect, so it's a good thing I had my book with me. The table I chose (high top with metal chair) was not super comfortable and part of the table was broken, so it was a little precarious. The bathroom was clean. It's a cool concept, as they also have a bar serving beer and wine, and it looks like a nice community space with events. And it's dog-friendly. If I lived in the area I think I would come here often!

He tried to tip 20% on his lunch bill, asking the waiter to round to the total from the $50 check to $60 total The waiter decided that meant adding a $60 TIP to the order and running the credit card at $110 for their lunch. Simple mistake, maybe. We apparently will never know, because Liebman's has never called back after two different attempts to speak with management to rectify the situation. We were told that there was no manager there twice, but assured that we would receive a call back shortly. Nothing, apparently. Is Liebman's an establishment that targets the elderly and figures that they can get away with it because sometimes people don't look at what they're signing. Who knows? Not me, because no-one from Liebman's decided that it was important to return multiple calls to figure that out. So, IF you go to this place, please check your bill and then check it again, because once you leave the restaurant, they seem to have no desire to explain why they charged you a 120% tip (or even attempt to keep you as a customer) Bonus fact: I waited three weeks to post this to give them every chance to do the right thing and have a manager reply.
