I enjoyed an excellent americano here, and my husband liked his cappuccino. Super friendly service…read morefrom the young ladies behind the counter. Everything in the case looked delectable, but we decided upon a large peanut butter-caramel cookie that was still warm from the oven -- and was it ever good. It was made even better with a light sprinkle from the salt shaker. We also shared a Black Forest bar with frosting that tasted a bit refrigeratory; the chocolate sponge cake layers were dry but the cherry filling was tart-sweet and delicious. The patio provided a relaxing space to sit, sip and snack as we watched the denizens of this lovely neighborhood stroll by.

Served with a shortbread cookie shaped like a bear covered in delicious sprinkles. #27 - "BJORN" THE BEAR-SCOTTI LOVER Dark chocolate orange hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and chocolate decor. Served with a dark chocolate biscotti filled with orange zest and toasted hazelnuts. Both drinks were delicious. I personally liked the bear cookie more because the biscotti was a little too hard for my liking. I really liked this year's features but out of the 8 hot chocolates I've tried from here over the years, these weren't in the top 3. Damn wow! I saw a Sailor Moon cake and cookies at a friend's birthday party and had to find out…read moremore about where she got it. Gamers, movie, cartoon and anime fans alert, you're gonna love this cake designer. Bad Ass Cakes is based in Vancouver, BC. Their Facebook page says their location is in North Vancouver, but their location is actually in the central Vancouver area which is convenient and accessible to everyone. The page is www.facebook.com/forBadAssPeople. I'm a total gamer and anime geek at heart and was excited by what I saw. The creator designs cakes and cookies with themes like League of Legends, Sailor Moon, Iron Man, Star Wars, MineCraft, Portal, etc. He does fashion and regular custom cakes too for weddings and birthdays, and cakes at EXP Restaurant + Bar (another favorite venue of mine). When my gf unveiled the cake at her birthday dinner, all the guests (and myself) were really surprised at how gorgeous the cake and cookies were. The designer made a pink Chibi Moon vanilla cake with pink icing inside, and the exterior was made with fondant. It was high quality tasting fondant, and tasted like a delicious marshmallowy flavor. The fondant was not overly sweet (which other bakeries tend to do) so it paired very nicely with the cake. The cookies were super cute, they were shortbread cookies that were chewy and soft, and the icing was also not overly sweet. Everything tasted good and I highly recommend Bad Ass Cakes, especially to those who love games, anime and movies if you're looking for that extra special custom cake! I want one too now. The photos below are hers, since mine came out too blurry with my crappy phone cam. I received permission to use her photos for my review. I was there physically at the party.

So in honor of that title we ordered a chocolate Popeye cake and left the creativity and design to the discretion of Bad Ass Cakes. We were delighted with the end results. Our cake was made within budget, it was super fun and so delicious! The wedding guests loved it! We will certainly utilize the talents of this cake master again.

The afternoon tea is not very quintessential as their sweets are not petit fours but plain and simple cookies with a couple macarons thrown in. The sandwiches were very bland as well but the coronation chicken salad sandwich is an absolute hit! Honestly, I'd steer away from everything at this place other than that but once you eat that chicken sandwich, you'll be coming back for it as it's quite addictive.

That and I went to the first location only to be told to go to the second one which opened at 10am I waited 30mins and the person showed up. I went upto the counter and was greeted friendly and then told on Mondays they open at 11. I told her the other girl told me it's 10am on Mondays, she asked me if I could wait. Then I think realized I did not have the patience to wait anymore so she handed me two cookies. When I got home I was given one birds nest cookie and the other one didn't even seem to have anything on it. To be honest it was a very disappointing experience as a whole. I had a bad experience as well the last time I won something so I think I am done trying this place again.

My daughter and her cousin shared a Chocolate Oreo Bingsu, while I shared a Fresh Mango Bingsu with my mom. My daughter said, " We have to come back here sometime!" I think that means she enjoyed the Chocolate Oreo Bingsu! I quite enjoyed My Fresh Mango Bingsu as well. It could have been slightly better if the chunks of mango in it had been sweeter. Still a very enjoyable dessert though, and like I said...it's a rare commodity on the North Shore. I do wish though that they would serve the Bingsu in reusable bowls with wider rims. Instead, our Bingsu was served to us in tall, plastic cups. This made it kinda hard to dig in and mix things around. Next time we come, if I'm able to, I think I'd like to bring along my own reusable container for sharing and also for creating more room to mix the ingredients of the Bingsu together. They also serve some savory foods here too like Gimbap, Bibimbap and Tteokbokki. This place is one of those places where you order at a kiosk. Seems like this kiosk system is slowly becoming more and more popular. These are the times we're living. Guess I'm gonna have to get more comfortable with using this kiosk system.
