Went here for my friend's birthday and had SO much fun dancing on the rooftop!! I think the cover was $5 to get in. I heard there are multiple rooms or spaces, but we just went straight to the rooftop. The menu was silly and Shrek themed. Everyone got "swamp water" basically a ranch water. Drinks were reasonably priced. We danced for hours and had so much fun. It was so hot of course because it's Austin, but everyone was just there for a good time. The dj played mostly Latin music and it was just great vibes. Can't wait to go back! read more

I was here with several friends for a special salsa/bachata event this past 4th of July and had a blast! Some of the top Latin dancers were there so it was nonstop dancing. It was on the rooftop and thankfully during a shadier part of the day but even so we were all sweating from the fun of dancing. A guy named Carlos was the organizer. The DJ had everyone dancing most of the time but because the rooftop was so spacious there was actually space to dance and not run into/hit everyone while dancing! They had food available for $20 per plate which I shared with a friend because we weren't very hungry so it was a perfect amount of food to share. I tried their ranch water with tajin. We were also lucky to find a street spot not too far from the venue. I look forward to going back again for another rooftop dance party! read more

This place is super fun! I came for the drag show called Coco Cxnts and this was my second time seeing them, they're Beautiful, funny and super entertaining. We had some shots and drank beer. If you're hungry, there's a restaurant downstairs where you can order some delicious food and bring it up, I didn't eat this time but people seemed pleased. Pro tip: bring single dollars, the bartender will give you only $20 at a time. read more

I treated my family to a drag brunch here for my birthday and it was a blast. Well, the performances were especially for a $0 cover. It rained and it made the performances even better. The bartenders were extraordinarily jaded and kind of rude. They absolutely did not want to be there. My biggest gripe was that there were such limitations on alcoholic beverages. THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE MIMOSAS!! We did enjoy the food from Traphouse Caribbean. It just was an awkward setup. The bouncers were dull and also didn't appear to enjoy their job. Aside from the negatives, we had a great time. My brother got a bottle of prosecco (hmm...suspicious since there was none when I asked) poured into his eye by one of the queens and they gave him a dirty bandana to clean it up. Nice! I found this quite hilarious. I got hit on in the bathroom which was flattering. Yay for LGBTQ+ spaces! My friend and I are so glad we checked this club out. It's $10 admission but has floors and floors of things going on. I haven't really seen anything quite like it before - at least not in Boston. There's a main dancing area which is an open floor concept, it's got music blasting (you can literally hear the music from a block away as you're walking over!!), a big bar, some seating, and people genuinely having a good time. It wasn't too busy when we went but the music wasn't nessecarily my favorite since it wasn't too easy to dance to some things but the vibes were awesome. I really liked this place. To explore the other floors: head back downstairs and take a left and you'll see a smaller room with strobe lights and disco balls, and then if you keep going straight there's a cool rainbow box lit-up which is a DJ booth and that leads to a whole other room with lounge tables and cool art hanging from the ceilings. This room is cool because there's another staircase that leads to two more floors!! Completely separate from the first rooftop-type one!! The third floor is super cool. It's a smaller rooftop but has disco balls with Saturn rings and a bar as well. A good time for sure!! read more

One of my favorite clubs in the city. It can get packed, but it's with the type of people you want to be surrounded with. Depending on the time you get here, you're gonna pay cover. Expect 10 bucks. Cash or card. You have plenty of room to roam around. The upstairs rooftop is amazing. Lots of seating and the dance floor by the DJ booth is great. Visuals on the wall if you're feelin real good. Once you get bored of the rooftop, take your ass downstairs and check out the other areas. If you're like me, you're gonna end up downstairs in the room with the silver couches dancing your face off. Try to check out the red room behind the front bar. It's usually full of people, but occasionally you'll get lucky. Also remember there is food here too. This is like your one stop shop. You've got lots of great gay bars nearby. Minus Highland. But typically you're gonna wanna start somewhere else and end up here around 11:30 or 12. They stay open pretty pretty late. read more

Came here on a Sunday evening with friends for an Afrobeats event called "Jerk x Jollof". I decided to Uber here since I didn't wan to worry about parking in downtown, but I soon learned that it was relatively easy to get to, and that parking in downtown on a Sunday wouldn't have been so bad... The event was overall a fun and vivacious one. I'm a fan of this genre of music and everyone that was there was clearly there to have a good time dancing to sick beats. All of the action takes place on the rooftop, and there are some nice views of the surrounding skyrises since the club is in downtown Austin. The rooftop is separated to have a long rectangular dance floor on one side, stairs and the bar, and lounge seating on the other side. Even though the event I attended was great, I feel like there could have been an ample amount of air conditioning, fans, air misters, anything to help us cool down. Even when my friends and I were sitting at the lounge area, we were sweating big time! I would have preferred the sweat to stay on the dance floor, haha! That's why I'm giving three stars. read more

First time here though I've passed by enough to hear the music outside on Colarado street to be curious so when I had the opportunity to go I jumped at it. I've only been to the rooftop deck which is stunning lots of beautiful downtown views especially in the afternoon. I went when they had R&B and Ribs and the crowd was fun signing along to all the jams. There's a covered area with seating for groups too. So what matters here are the dance floors which are top notch. * * * Let's get the bad stuff out of the way first. Whoever designed the bar programme got the misconceived idea that if the club is named "The Coconut Club",' then the bar should serve as much coconut water as is humanly possible. Coconut water is tolerable When someone drills a hole in a coconut that was just harvested from a tree Drills a hole in it with the special hole-makers coconut guys use for this purpose Sticks a straw in it and gives you a fresh coconut. Then you have a beverage that rates about a B. In a can or bottle in the United States, D Minus. About two thirds of the mixed drinks at Coconut Club involve either coconut water, a commercial rum coconut water mix or both. I was fair. I tried one of the drinks with both coconut water and rum coconut water mix. Yuk. Other combos were better but not by much. They have beer. Drink it. * * * Now for the dance floors , heh heh heh. This is a club where people really really come to dance. The population of dancers is one third sorority girl telephone poles. (Just stand there upright and vaguely bounce) one third super skilled absolutely outstanding dancers and one third okay dancers who are raising their standards to fit in with the superstars. The result is some great dancing on the floor. I myself am a pretty mean dancer, even if I am 69 years old. Both average and outstanding dancers were coming up to join me and we were exchanging moves. The top of what is available at Coconut Club is better than I ever was, Even in my athletic prime. * * * There are two dance floors at Coconut Club. (Three if you count the floor at Cuatro Gato - the club next door connected by an open door and freely available to Coconut Club Patrons.) The three floors are Coconut Club outside - Spectacular rooftop view of downtown Austin and hiphop. Coconut Club Inside - Spectacular light show and seating and electronica/old school Cuatro Gato - Marginal dance floor at the bar and reggaeton. Hiphop and reggaeton are far more popular than electronica so these rooms draw the crowds. The DJs for all three floors are outstanding. Each room plays an A++ mix of the music you would want to dance to within each genre. For a dance space, it is hard to beat the upstairs hiphop patio. The view of the Frost Building is absolutely jaw-dropping. The floor is huge. This is a fine place to drink and an outstanding place to dance up a storm. My preferred dance music is electronica - with mixed format being second place. So moves-wise, my heart and soul were in the downstairs club. But hiphop will give you plenty of moves to work with ... And I could have danced on the rooftop all night In one of the most perfect venues in Austin. * * * Coconut water was a deal breaker ... But I can steer around that next time. Spacious and colorful outdoor rooftop bar. There may sometimes be a cover depending on the day and time but it's access to so many dance floors, bars, and different artsy rooms. The space is always real social, and dancey in the heart of downtown. Apart from the nice scenery, lights and crowd, The variety of DJs I think is why I enjoy coming so much. They usually play a lot of good electronic house, urban Latin, pop, rap and other good mixes! Since it's mostly outdoor and in Texas I usually end up getting frozens for most of the nights I'm here. This club is definitely unique since it has several floors with all different vibes! We went there for a Saturday night, we paid $5 each, but I believe it may differ depending on what events are going on. (max one of my friends paid was $20.) They have multiple separate upstairs and downstairs dance areas, my favorite is their awesome rooftop! (They have two rooftop areas with different vibes and music, so be sure to check both!) It was pretty crowded, but easy enough to move to another dance area and people we ran into in the club were all nice and friendly. I liked that they have free water dispensers with disposable cups available to all. I had twisted iced tea and canned beer after attempting their cocktail and got disappointed. Easy, my go to spot in the Austin night life as of late. This roof top bar is always a great time. The Dj keeps the music lively and the open space makes great to dance or socialize with friends. The restrooms here are almost never clean and often pretty gross, in comparison to the adjacent bars. Its connected to the two other bars on this strip. Cover at the door for one will often grant you access to the other bars as well. Other bars have different genre of music playing. There is only 1 bar here, which makes it hard to get through the crowd to buy a drink. read more

Rule number one at the Coconut Club, there are no rules. You want to be topless and dance? Go for it. You want to do drugs? No one cares. Unisex bathrooms... I completely understand, but can there at least be some useable doors? I literally walked into a 2-stall bathroom with a girl who's pants were off , and yes, anyone who opened the door could see it. I needed to use the restroom, but as soon as I saw urine soaked all over the floor, I immediately knew it was time to call it a night. There was literally nothing hygenic about this place. Also, I NEVER WASTE A DRINK, tonight was a first. I drank 4 sips of my "Moscow mule" served in a cheap, plastic 7-oz cup and it was horrendous. I came for a friend's bachelorette outing and all I have to say is WOW! Their drag brunch is a 10/10! It was great we definitely had a great time. The show started around 2ish, giving us enough time to get some food downstairs and drink a bit. The performers were excellent, and despite the hot weather, they went full out. I would definitely recommend it and will be coming back to explore the rest of the club. read more

I know a good club when I see one and this isn't it. 1. A great club starts with the people that greet you at the door and first impressions are everything. In this case, the door staff were indifferent and unprepared. After paying cover for an event night I was told that I could leave and get back in with a stamp on my hand (pretty standard stuff). What they DIDN'T say was that if I left they would require me to stand in the line again. If I knew that I would not have left. I left...came back (with a line around the corner) and was denied...rudely. The rule is ok but you gotta TELL people the policy. So, I went on to other things. 2. Price gouging. $15 for a small vodka drink is obscene. Also, I find the bar staff to also be indifferent and a little stand-offish. I prefer a place where adults are in charge. This club seems amateurish and unfinished. I have other options. Another reviewer mentions "You will tell your grandkids you used to party at this Austin institution." Yes, this "institution" will soon be in the dustbin of failed clubs in Austin...just a memory. Hard pass. read more

The flow of the venue is weird (the stairs are low-key dangerous), and the club has a lot of lessons to learn...quickly (adding trash/recycling bins, etc), but staff has heart, the bass downstairs is incredible, the intention is solid, and I'm eager for Coconut Club to takeoff. read more

Super disappointing experience! Let me preface this by saying that I am a server and bartender, so I know how to act when I go out places. I reserved a booth last minute for NYE 2023. Everything started out great- Leslie was my point of contact and she was really hyping up the spot since we had never been. We arrived and the bottles were already at the booth with 3 buckets of melted ice. I really was expecting the typical bottle service where they make you feel extra special by bringing the bottles with sparklers and all that jazz- especially on NYE! After combining all three buckets of melted ice- I walked up to the bar (where Leslie said I should go for anything) and asked for fresh ice. Waited 10 minutes. Nothing. A busboy came through our booth and we also asked him for fresh ice. Waited another 10 minutes. Nothing. I finally texted Leslie and we FINALLY got fresh ice. Then I noticed that the busboy took my TWO drinks! I was drinking whiskey neat and finishing my champagne toast. WHY WOULD HE TAKE BOTH OF MY VERY OBVIOUSLY FULL GLASSES?? The booth next to us had about 3X the people we did and they started pouring into our booth- the chains separating the booths kept coming undone because they weren't good quality. Around 1:45 a couple of us decided to go explore the other dj's and when we tried to come back upstairs to our booth- we literally got yelled at- like YELLED at. We were so confused because no one let us know that upstairs would be closing- like zero information at all. We didn't know where the rest of our group was since we had left them at our booth. Im asking the girl at the door what happened to everyone upstairs and she responded extremely rudely, "I dont know, those are yo friends" she had such attitude, unwilling to help, and was laughing because of how concerned I was for my friends. I finally found my friends outside and apparently right at 2 am the bouncers and the blonde girl with the striped bangs & neon green outfit came over aggressively yelling at my friends to leave the booth and go downstairs because upstairs was now closed. ZERO WARNING, no type of announcement. Nothing. Aggressive. Aggressive. Aggressive. To the point where the bouncers wife later apologized to my group for how aggressive the bouncer (her husband) was, "sorry, he's used to working the ghetto clubs." Not only that, but my friends were never told they could continue to the other dance floors downstairs - they literally got walked to the outside. We were having so much fun despite the initial letdowns, and the ending completely ruined the entire experience for us. Like COMPLETELY ruined the experience for us. Especially since booth rentals aren't cheap, definitely not cheap on NYE. This is where we all decided to spend our hard earned money. Money we could have taken anywhere. Austin has a lot of really fun and unique bars, not sure I'd ever have to come back to this one. If I was the owner of this business I would be extremely embarrassed and disappointed in my staff. I'm sure this is the exact opposite of how they'd want their patrons to feel. Such a let down. read more

Fact: You will tell your grandkids you used to party at this Austin Institution. This is an old school incubation chamber of fun, beats, smoke, lights, and soul glitter. I dare you not to make out with someone, twirl yourself around on the dancefloor, dazzleglaze your eyes over with the lasers, inhale the scent of people being themselves, and not be thankful for the fact that people still step up to the plate to create places like this. Austin has been in dire need of a zone like Coconut Club for an untold length of time. Holy jeez have the owners delivered! The authenticity and gumption they've brought to the table in both design and attitude is just a feat to behold. In a city where the true vibe and passion of keeping it weird gets diluted on the regular with money from afar and washed down with corporatism, the Coconut Club has hung it's jolly roger to fly in the face of all that. The place is a prom-scape of wonderfulness for every type of person, whether you are indeed a corporate normal or you're a sweet unicorn weirdo. No matter what flavor human you are, this place has a spot on the dance floor waiting for you to shake your peacock feathers and salute you. For that, I salute the Coconut Club. With any luck, I'll be opening tabs at this place til I'm in a wheelchair. Pros: Literally totally sick music all the time. Flabbergast level lasers. Friggin sweet sound system all over. Sweet lights all over the place. Bartenders are nice! The crowd is diverse and fabulous! Balls deep patio with Frost tower views! Legends hang out here. Coconut Club is a new bar and dance club from former Cheer Up Charlies employees Cole Evans and Brian Almaraz. This bar is fun, stylish, and carries special coconut drinks as well as all other bar staples. The DJ that played ruled as he played all throwback songs to my wonder years. We had very nice bartenders and I loved the motif and Art Deco style decor. I hope this place does well. read more
