I am a fan of Spice mart for the last 3 years . Always they are at their best in delivering the quality food . This time they even went above and beyond . I was ordering some food for the work place with different nationalities and I was not sure how everyone can tolerate the spices . When I called to place the order I explained the situation to Mr VINOD and he assured me that he would take care of that even though he was not at the store , he called his guys and he made sure that I could pick up the food on time too . A very pleasant surprise in an Allen strip center. After driving by and realizing that they actually sold cooked food in addition to groceries, my daughter grabbed a menu. She's been pestering us to try it out for a while, which would save us the trip to Vindu Indian Cuisine on Frankford. We placed an order for carry out at about 7:15 and was told it would be ready by about 8:00 (so plan ahead!). Some of my order was done at 7:45 and sat there while the rest was completed by about 8:05. Most of it was still pretty hot when it got home though! We got Chicken Zafrani, Laal Maas, Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala, as well as Chicken 65 and samosas as an appetizer (and about 3 orders of Nan). The samosas were great, and came with a very tasty cilantro-mint chutney and other sweet one I was not familiar with. The Chicken 65 was very good, and I would recommend it. The Laal Maas (a lamb red curry) was very good, as were the Butter Chicken and the Chicken Tikka Masala. We couldn't really tell the difference between the two, but one had a little bell pepper and the other did not. The Chicken Zafrani was good, but not anyone's favorite. To be fair, the bar was set really high with the other dishes. All of these were served with good basmati rice. The Nan was very good, if a little steamed by the time I got it home. The only knock on anything was the lack of heat - I like some heat in my Indian food. I highly recommend Indian Market for carry out, but I am not sure about eating in. It was freezing outside when I went to pick it up, and it was only slightly warmer inside. They don't seem to have a web site, the very cold interior, the wait times for some of the food and the low spice levels knock a couple of stars off, but the extremely convenient location adds one back. We will be back, and try some other things. We would order 5 out of 6 things again. read more

Saw this little unassuming place in Allen in a lonely strip mall and my wife and I thought we'd stop in for a quick curry. India Market isn't much in the way of aesthetics. The dining area is quite utilitarian and more like the waiting area in a tire shop than a restaurant. The food, though, the FOOD! We ordered what I think of as fairly standard fare, butter chicken curry with some naan. It was very, very good. The butter curry included sliced bell peppers, which isn't something I normally see in this dish but it complimented it nicely. The naan was buttery and wonderful. Some of the reviews complained about the Chinese food. What's wrong with people? That's like going in to a Chinese place and ordering chicken fingers and fries. Pretty good porotta, and it's not the frozen kind. Not many places serve Kerala food in this part of dfw. Those who visit the store can help themselves to tea. That's a nice touch. Haven't seen that at any Indian store. Definitely going back to try other items on the menu. On the grocery side however, the inventory could be better. There is frozen fish here - sardines, king fish fillets and some others. Their cashew and dates cake is pretty good too. I had a catering order which included 30 samosas, a tray of Paneer Tikka Masala, and a tray of naan. Vinod was very helpful and the food was ready to go at the scheduled time for pick-up. The owners were very nice when I went to put in the order also - they even gave me some cake and a samosa on the house! This management is fairly new and its unfortunate that the bad reviews from 2014/2015 attributable to the old management are still being counted in the overall rating for them. Tried the Chicken Dum Biryani believing their reviews here & just $7.99 unbelievable price attached along with cashback offers actively offered on Groupon/Yelp. Went to order a takeout lunch time over a weekend this summer. It was a small grocery store where the owner was the only one present. He said they had few phone in orders already & it will take some time (not sure if he was the only cook as well). So, I went away & came back to pick after a while. Chicken DUM Biryani(s) were very bland, no where close to biryani taste & the worst was the questionable quality of chicken itself (which was just bones, raw & tasteless). Had to throw away. I used to go there for last two years and had good service with the owners (the couple who used to run it before). Today I had terrible experience with the so called "Another owner" who refused to give me his name . He refused to give me some sauce when I requested after I ordered 20 pieces of samosas. He told me that is the "Policy" from the begining and may be some other owner did me a favor. He was shouting at me and also took his mask off while he was talking to me. I relayed this experience today in a gathering and 60% of the audience mentioned they had this similar bad experience with this so called "rude owner" not the couple who used to run it before. I will stop going there now and no more shopping with this rude owner for the bad behavior and service. I will not be surprised if they go out of business soon based on this kind of service. The other owners should be careful and step in immediately before you all start to loose the market share and I will advise my friends and circles to stop going there from now on.. read more

First I will start by saying the man that greeted me and helped me was very friendly. I ordered my food and he said it would take about 15 minutes. Fifteen minutes later I walked out with my food. So the craving for Indian food hit once again and we were tired of the normal stuff- I found this little store on a yelp search, of course. Only 2 reviews...risky...the menu looked great and prices were notably cheaper than other places, so we called in a take out order. Our litmus test order for all new Indian restaurants is chicken tikka masala and saag (we added on samosa and garlic naan tonight). We went to pick up our order and found a cute little grocery store! The owners were very friendly and chatted with us while we waited. They also own the Indian market in Plano but this is the first food venture for them. We strolled around the store which they are still planning on expanding. They've only been around for 4 months so I was very excited to try it out! The hubby and I hurried home with our order- the aroma from the food was amazing- after a quick pic we dug in. Samosa- peas and potatoes- delicious- crunchy exterior- tasty insides. Saag paneer superb! Chicken tikka flavor was there- chicken was a little dry today but still very good and even better with the garlic naan! What's more is that the price for each dish was a few dollars cheaper than any other restaurant in the area! It's great to have found a cheaper alternative for Indian food in our area. This is the best Indian food I've tried in the states by far. Very friendly staff and a great menu. I normally get the chicken vindaloo witch is very spicy but not so much where you can't tase the curry. Also I tried the chicken korna today and just like everything else I've tried here it didn't dissapoint! Onion pakoras are a must try also is there garlic naan. Highly recommend this place read more

I had this delivered the other night and it was pretty good. 3.5-4/5. I was craving a veggie tikka masala. The closest they had was paneer. I would have preferred potatoes, peas, carrots, etc. or tofu, but that's not traditional, I know, but that's ok. The tikka masala was very good. The garlic naan was not too flavorful, but still good. The chapati wasn't worth it. You get 2 fluffy, thick pieces of naan for about $2, but only 1 tortilla (basically) for $1. I should have just doubled up the naan for a buck more. It tasted fine, just a little boring and overpriced in comparison. I wasn't as impressed with the samosas as everyone else seems to be, and they were spicier than expected, but they were still good. I probably wouldn't get them again though. The mango lassi was delightful and cut the spice of the food perfectly. The plantains were not good. They were undercooked, a little too starchy, and bland. I threw half of those away. I'd reorder the tikka masala, naan, and lassi. You get a lot of food for the price overall. read more
