With all the raving reviews, I decided to give Panj Tara a try. On this early evening, no other guests were in their adorned dining room. Irritatedly, only when called upon, minimal was the service. As for our table's relatively costly dinner, disappointing was their not fluffy but chewy "poori"; bitter was their "saag paneer"; yet, thank goodness for not making this a wasted experience, delicious was their "Lamb Rogan Josh"! We had another great meal at Panj Tara! This time we had gone for their Weekend buffet lunch and since we reached just as they started serving we had the entire area almost to ourselves and the whole dining area was quiet, spic and span. Started off with loading up a plateful of small portions of the different vegetarian options and almost all of them were prepared well. Best liked dishes were the Paneer Tikka Masala and the Kadhi with those lovely Pakodas. The Tandoori Rotis served were hot, hot, light and fluffy and were very tasty while also complementing the main dishes completely. The Peas Pulao were a let down and it was not made fresh but the Plain Basmati Rice was wonderfully fresh and prepared well. I personally did not like the Tandoori Chicken as the pieces seemed have been made earlier and only re-heated and served, The Shrimp Curry was so so and the seafood seemed to have been slightly over cooked. The Chicken Do Pyaza was quite flavorful and the meat had been cooked to perfection - soft, succulent, fall-off the Bone and well marinated into the Do Pyaaza stew. I did also like the fresh sliced onions with the Punjabi house-made Achaar served as an accompaniment, which was wonderful! Finally we also tried the different desserts - the Sheera was ok but we loved the Jalebi and Fruit Custard. All in all a good value for money! We will come back for another round soon! read more

Wanted to eat Chole Bhature for a long time upon scrolling Yelp we found Panj Tara so glad we tried this place... They were having Lunch Buffet (weekend) but since my craving was for Chole Bhatura we opted to order that along with Dahi Puri - Hollowed semolina puri, stuffed with potato garbanzo mash, yogurt and house-special chutneys. Chole Bhature - Delight in a symphony of flavors with our slow-cooked chickpeas, simmered to perfection in a luxurious tomato-onion gravy served with pickles & onions. Both the dishes were outstanding, Chole Bhature is made authentic Amritsar style we enjoyed every bite... it was delicious. Last time I gave a very strong review. This one is taking a hit from the beginning. They no longer have menus and you need to order from a phone. They have a menu with errors as Punjabi chicken is listed twice. This is not an effective upgrade not is it customer friendly. A menu is easier to work with than a small menu on a phone. read more

Our server was Asma, who was extremely sweet and attentive. Frisco needed an authentic North Indian restaurant, and this Punjabi restaurant is the real deal! The chole bhature are Delhi style - spicy and delicious. The chicken tikka masala with the butter naan was rich and full of flavor. We were very impressed with the freshness of all the dishes. This restaurant is the perfect addition to the downtown Frisco area! The interior is beautifully decorated and makes for a perfect dining experience for dates or outings with friends or family. Pride of ownership shows in the cleanliness of the entrance, dining area and restrooms. The staff is very welcoming and friendly, and do their best to make customers feel right at home. The food is some of the best Indian food that I have had in years! Everything I sampled from the buffet was fresh and flavorful! There were ample dishes to enjoy and fresh naan was delivered to the table to prevent it from getting soggy on the bar. I was truly impressed with the quality of the food and with the level of service at this establishment. We have enjoyed the lunch buffet at Panj Tara twice before, and although the selection was small, every item was very well prepared. Today, however, we were very disappointed with the various choices. Most of the entrees were chicken--the one exception was a goat dish that was bony, too spicy, and tough. There were two vegetable and a lentil curry dishes. The best thing on the entire buffet was the vegetable korma. The pasta dish had no seasoning. Three desserts were provided, but the cool fruit-and-vanilla pudding was tasteless. Overall, pretty terrible. It took 10 min for the host to even get our name, mainly because he is being host, cleaning tables, and being behind the bar. It went downhill from there. The buffet selections were dire; there was virtually no chicken in the dishes, the rice tray was always empty, and we had to ask 4x for naan. The buffet was also a mess, with curry everywhere and no one even attempting to keep it clean. Half the staff was wandering around aimlessly, and the left hand didn't know what the right was doing. What's worse, they automatic add a "service charge" despite terrible service. It's clear they are trying to go for a "trendy" vibe instead of focusing on what actually matters. Every single thing I tried here was fantastic. We had the weekend buffet and there were so many options, including ones for vegetarian or pescatarian follower. The restaurant is extremely clean and even the buffet never looked messy. The servers seemed a bit short or maybe annoyed but they weren't rude, just not friendly. They're in a great location in Frisco and hopefully will do well. The food here is amazing. We did not order off the regular menu since we wanted to taste test everything, but will if we go back for just dinner instead of the buffet. read more

Expensive and not worth it at all, I ordered 3 appetizers and 4 entrees and 2 alcoholic well drinks, the total was over 200, I do this commonly to give the place a fair chance in ordering a variety of menu options, as a chef I feel it's important to ask the server what is their favorite and what is the most popular dish and order personal likes, and every single dish was bad, the goat had shards of bone, like someone hit the goat with a mallet and then roasted the frags just to play Russian roulette, why do they ask for spicy levels if they don't make it spicy, is 10 a half of a jalapeno or what, and this restaurant should be prohibited from cooking rack of lamb because they turned it into jerky with rubbed spice on it, they don't know how to cook shrimp if it curls it's overcooked but they dont know that I guess they think covering it in sauce will make it less dry, I'll admit I'm not knowledgeable about authentic Indian cuisine, but this was absurd basic standards of cooking just terrible, hope this place goes out of business and whoever is accountable for the food the night we ate their gets deported by ice, don't charge $25+ a dish for a small portion unless it's at least better than good read more
