We selected Spice Rack's Banquet Hall for the Annual Diwali party of the Indian community living in our sub-division after an extensive due diligence of about 8 venues across Dallas metro area. We picked Spice Rack since the venue was a good fit across various parameters - size of the venue, overall look and feel, choice of cuisine, flexibility of the venue in accommodating small requests, proximity etc. Niranjan, who was our POC, was approachable and worked with our requirements along the way - whether it was decision on food, enabling us early access on the day of the event to get the venue decked up and making sure that he was around at the venue when our event was happening. This was one of the reasons why we decided not to go with another venue (Roma Palace) since the person responsible for the banquet hall was just not responsive. The venue can hold around 170 people, our event was sold out fully. It has been around for a while and hence there is a bit of wear and tear that is evident (which is why my rating is not a 5) but for the price point and the service, it does offer good value for money. The food was spot on - we had Spring rolls, Chilli Paneer, Gobi Manchurian, Malai Kofta, Paneer Butter Masala, Dal Tadka, Veg biriyani with raita, White rice, Papad, Shaahi Gulab Jamun and supplemented this with ice cream & Soda which we purchased from outside. All of the dishes were very good - Paneer dishes had enough and more Paneer in them which is often an issue at Banquet halls. In fact, Chilli Paneer just had Paneer and sauces - again something we find lot of restaurants do is to add onions and bell peppers. When the event was over, Niranjan's team provided us zip loc bags to take the food home and for dishes that had sizable quantity, they even provided disposable trays to take the food home. That showed the focus on making sure that customers walked out happy in every sense. The 2 staff members who were allocated to support our event were also very nice and cordial, they worked hard to make sure that food was replenished in a timely fashion. Niranjan also gave us coordinates of DJ's who work with Spice Rack. We found our DJ for the day, Sameer, though this list. Sameer also did an excellent job and was easy to work with. All in all, it was a fun event for our community members and we are happy with the choice of venue which was a big part of the equation. read more

This place is not instagramable by any means, but it has the BEST paneer tikka masala (and chicken). Hands down! I will pass 10 other Indian restaurants to come here. The first time we went, a man (I suppose an owner) came out and gave us a bunch of delicious sides to try and chai tea. THE TEA...sooooooo good!! It's hot, creamy, spicy, rich, and delicious!!! I would go every day just for the tea if I could. Covid safety: This last time we went, they had plastic face shields in front of the register, gloves were required upon entering (and provided), and there was also hand sanitizer by the register. They didn't have any tea, BUT, it is the middle of a winter snow storm and Idk the min amount they have to make. Maybe it's a lot...but I would have gladly taken it off their hands. I ordered from Bombay Chopstick yesterday, a restaurant I've been ordering from for the past 10 years. It remains one of my favorites, consistently maintaining the quality of their food. This time I had the Paneer Butter Masala and Malai Kofta, both of which were excellent and featured distinctly different gravies--unlike some restaurants where they use the same gravy for both dishes. I also tried their Tadka Dal, which was delicious. I highly recommend this place; the food is great, and the prices are reasonable. read more

We ordered: * Chicken Dum Biryani boneless (4/5): it was delicious and flavorful and the chicken was super moist and tender, but taking off one star bc it was def NOT boneless. Bones everywhere and potential choking hazard for those who aren't used to eating bones. * Paneer butter masala (4/5)- creamy and bold explosion of flavors, utterly addicting * Paneer Tiki Masala (5/5) - tastes ALOT like the butter masala but more savory and tomato-y. This was my fave! All in all, everything was super yummy and we will def be ordering from here regularly!! One of the few restaurants that has wide range of menu. You can choose from "Bombay Chop Stix" menu or "Biryani Pot" menu. Authentic Indian flavors. Love their Kebab's, Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, House Special Goat curry and Szechwan Fried Rice. They also had South Indian street food snack items that taste delicious. This is one of the few places I always return to get my spicy food fix. Their goat items and gobi are such a hot in my house. But last few times I've noticed that their Spicy level tastes and feels different. Looks like they add uncooked/half cooked chillies or chilly powder (cayenne) that stings differently than a well Cooked, as in sautéed in oil chillies. Since my whole family feels that way, it's not just me that might have the taste buds changed. Due to this I've had to go Medium on spice level and it's kind of not so satisfying. 5 stars for their biryani. Not a huge fan of their other options but they have the BEST BIRYANI EVER. I always get chicken or mutton. Both are flavorful and spicy. You won't be disappointed. Cons - Now that they remodeled the place they raised their prices. The biryani is $3 more than it used to be. It's enough for 3 meals though. Also, they didn't do a very good job remodeling the place. Half of it is the usual grocery store and the other half is not one but three new restaurants! A bit strange and probably very confusing since they all have different menus. Customer service at the restaurant also needs some improvement. Was invited to a party at their banquet hall. Certainly lacked the acme charm of a Cinderella ballroom but nonetheless a decent banquet hall with tables, a stage, and 2 projectors. Must say the sound system does fall short in audibility in a room with 50+ people so I'd advise to bring your own speaker if you wish to dance the night away. For the buffet selection ($15/head) the spread was no amazon rainforest of dishes, a little curtailed in variety for my taste but as an Indian critiquing Indian food I can say these guys do a good job. I went to this place with my friend SRK for dinner. We ordered their famous Hyderabadi Dum Goat biryani, Tandoori Chicken and Karhai Goat. All items were amazing but biryani was the Bomb. Hands down One of the best biryani I've ever had. Plenty of meat and big enough portion for two people. Full of flavor and perfect spice level. By the way the prices are extremely reasonable and all the meat served here is 100% zabihah halal. I'm definitely going back there and I sure very very highly recommend this place. read more

Since my last review I've made multiple visits to Spice Rack. Some of my new favorites : desi spicy fried rice, gobi manuchiria gravy and Garlic Naan ! The naan with the Manchurian gravy is beyond awesome and also goes great with the fried rice . Great take out spot... although the new menu drives me crazy! They used to just have one menu with all their dishes on it, but this place has gotten quite confusing recently. They "divided"the restaurant into three smaller "restaurants." At least that's the illusion you get from the outside. They have three different signs, three different menus and it's kind of hard to figure out what's what. But when you go in, it's just one big restaurant and one big interface that will take care of everything. The most confusing part is that they occasionally have menu items that are the same name on different menus and often at different prices. It's so difficult to keep track of everything! The food is decent - I really recommend anything off their "Bombay Chopstix" Menu. The chilli rice is great with chicken manchurian. Although if you cannot handle spicy food, they do make milder, more moderate dishes too. Just take you're pick. Also, the prices here have gone up since they've remodeled. Yeah, it seems a little steep for takeout sometimes, but their portions are exceptionally generous - often enough for 2-4 servings, depending on what you order. read more

The food is amazing! We keep going back for the curries and biryanis. The portions are large and enough for two or leftovers!

I don't know what it is and the surrounding Indian places we've been to but the wait times even with a call in order take forever and that makes no sense. It took over an hour to get my food after I called in the order and they kept telling me two more minutes, those 2 minutes turned into 45 actually. Then the guy that brings me my food said well you should've come inside and talked to someone. I did 3 separate times and each time I was told 2 more minutes. I love Indian food and I've been to India many times and this kind of service is appalling and I don't believe they have worked out the logistics properly yet. I will say each time that I've eaten inside pre-pandemic the food was good and even Thursday it was decent. I always believe in giving places a chance after bad service and this is no exception. Now the weirdest part is this review is based on my personal experience Thursday for dinner and I had a grubhub hub delivery for them Friday at lunch and somehow he got my personal cellphone number and called me and asked me to change the review saying he got the information from grubhub. I contacted them and they assured me it didn't happen. No matter how he came about it, it is never okay to contact someone on their personal phones especially asking to change a review because you didn't like the wording I used. Awful, dirty place...they must have pictures of somebody in the health department because it's a miracle they are still open We went here once after they re-branded it as a Bombay Chopstix and they didn't have silverware, ordered some Indo-Chinese food like the chicken lollipop (garbage), manchurian (toxic) and fried rice (stale and tasteless). I agree with Pradeep about the chaos with orders and customers. I have been here half a dozen times and always have a hard time getting service. One clerk was outright rude to me - he asked me why I was buying this stuff and did I even have a clue how to cook any of it? Um...yes. I cook Indian food at home in spite of the fact that I'm an Irish-American Texan girl. I just thought it was a pretty tacky thing to ask a customer. Otherwise the place is ok, though the produce has been pretty beat up looking every time I've gone in, and really selection overall isn't that great compared to the other Indian shops in the area. Spice Rack has improved a lot since they expanded the store, but I still think it's worth the drive to another shop if you have the time. read more

This is our go-to biryani take-out. The spices are pretty varied and elevated. Not quite on the level as Sati Gayatri Curry in Frisco but this is closer so we come here much more often for the convenience. Chicken tikka masala is pretty darn tasty and creamy too. read more
